• Send email from postfix server to outside email client

  I have set up an email server and can send/receive email localhost and I can receive mail from outside sources but I cannot send emails to outside sources. I get this error when I try to send to an outside source such as live.com or gmail.com: Nov 8 22:15:13 server2 postfix/smtp[7598]: 699D480A64: to=, relay=none, delay=122043, delays=122022/0.01/20/0, dsn=4.4.3, status=deferred (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=live.com type=MX: Host not found, try again) Any ideas where I could look to resolve this?

• ASP.NET Web API - Screencast series Part 2: Getting Data

  We're continuing a six part series on ASP.NET Web API that accompanies the getting started screencast series. This is an introductory screencast series that walks through from File / New Project to some more advanced scenarios like Custom Validation and Authorization. The screencast videos are all short (3-5 minutes) and the sample code for the series is both available for download and browsable online. I did the screencasts, but the samples were written by the ASP.NET Web API team. In Part 1 we looked at what ASP.NET Web API is, why you'd care, did the File / New Project thing, and did some basic HTTP testing using browser F12 developer tools. This second screencast starts to build out the Comments example - a JSON API that's accessed via jQuery. This sample uses a simple in-memory repository. At this early stage, the GET /api/values/ just returns an IEnumerable<Comment>. In part 4 we'll add on paging and filtering, and it gets more interesting.   The get by id (e.g. GET /api/values/5) case is a little more interesting. The method just returns a Comment if the Comment ID is valid, but if it's not found we throw an HttpResponseException with the correct HTTP status code (HTTP 404 Not Found). This is an important thing to get - HTTP defines common response status codes, so there's no need to implement any custom messaging here - we tell the requestor that the resource the requested wasn't there.  public Comment GetComment(int id) { Comment comment; if (!repository.TryGet(id, out comment)) throw new HttpResponseException(HttpStatusCode.NotFound); return comment; } This is great because it's standard, and any client should know how to handle it. There's no need to invent custom messaging here, and we can talk to any client that understands HTTP - not just jQuery, and not just browsers. But it's crazy easy to consume an HTTP API that returns JSON via jQuery. The example uses Knockout to bind the JSON values to HTML elements, but the thing to notice is that calling into this /api/coments is really simple, and the return from the $.get() method is just JSON data, which is really easy to work with in JavaScript (since JSON stands for JavaScript Object Notation and is the native serialization format in Javascript). $(function() { $("#getComments").click(function () { // We're using a Knockout model. • 64-bit 13.10 shows 1GB less RAM than 64-bit 13.04 did

  Multiple 64-bit versions (Kubuntu, Lubuntu and Xubuntu) once installed on my ThinkPad R60 show 3GB of RAM, not the correct 4GB of RAM. Last week with 13.04, I had 4GB of RAM (which matches the BIOS) and this week I have 3GB available. Inquiring minds want to know. • Vim disables ibus IME -- is this a bug?

  I'm using ibus IME to input Japanese text into GVim. I've also noticed that if I exit insert mode after entering some Japanese text while the IME is still enabled, then IME input is disabled (I can see the icon change in the taskbar). If I exit insert mode without entering any Japanese text, but while the IME is still enabled, then the IME stays enabled (the icon does not change). It seems like GVim is disabling the IME (or the IME is switching off) in some conditions. Could it be related to the exception? My questions are: Is this a bug? If it is, then whose bug is it? Vim, Ibus, or something else? Are there any ways to work around the exception? • How to reinstall OEM Windows 98 SE?

  I'm trying to install Windows 98 SE on an old PC and it's not going well. I run into this problem. Searching for Boot Record from Floppy..OK Starting Windows 98... TOSHIBA Enhanced-IDE CD/DVD-ROM Device Driver (ATAPI) Version 2.24 (C)Copyright Toshiba Corp. 1995-1999. All rights reserved. Drive Z: = Driver TOSCD001 unit 0 TOSHIBA MACHINE Invalid drive specification Path not found - C:\TOOLS\CDROMDRV.SYS Invalid drive specification Invalid drive specification After that last line, it leaves me at a bitmap image displaying instructions to reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Del. It doesn't say why I have to reboot, and it doesn't state any error type, it just want's me to reboot for no apparent reason. After reboot, it just boots up from Floppy again and it cycles through the same thing all over again. The computer has been restored to original specification. Original system recovery "CD-ROM" discs are available and they are not scratched or anything, they are in very good condition. It's a set of 3 CDs, and the first disc labeled "1/3" should be the one holding the OEM version of Windows 98 SE. There is also a boot disk for Windows 98. I'm not sure what the other two discs are for. This computer came with three language support, so those could be holding different language versions or additional OEM discs. But I'm quite sure that the first disc holds the main operating system. BIOS has been set to optimized defaults. Boot priority is as follows; Floppy, IDE-0, CD-ROM. Under Standard CMOS settings, BIOS scans and autoconfigures both the hard drive and the CD/DVD drive. On POST it finds them both, and it finds the DOS bootdisk and starts preparing for installation, as you can see above. So what's this "invalid drive specification" about? Why isn't the installation starting? Updates Update 1 Booting from CD disc 2 In desperation I tried booting from the second CD. Boot order was; Floppy, CD-ROM, IDE-0. It boots normally from floppy disk, just like above, but then returns following. File not found - Z:\3LNGINST\TOOLS\PARTINFO.TXT I accidentally pressed some key on the keyboard, and before I knew it, the following screen showed up. Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Verifying drive integrity, 16% complete. After completion another screen showed up. Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Do you wish to use the maximum available size for a Primary DOS Partition and make the partition active (Y/N)?....................? [Y] Verifying drive integrity, 7% complete. I didn't choose Yes, it was set automatically. After completion the computer was automatically rebooted. Then I got a new screen. Rebooting with CD disc 1 After completing this operation it rebooted automatically. I inserted CD disc 1 and there was no issue with "invalid drive specification" anymore. Instead, a bitmap menu was displayed where it asked me to choose a language. And I thought I had it there for a while but it didn't work out. After choosing the language, another menu was displayed asking me to choose a type of recovery (restore pre-installed software OR restore hard drive partitions and pre-installed software). I opted for the second option. Then a data destruction warning showed up where I just pressed 1 to Continue. It did something and then just rebooted and the same formatting screen shows up as before. So something is not right. Am I doing it wrong? I seem to have come past the CD-ROM driver issue at least. But now I'm stuck with this problem... it seems to have something to do with the hard drive. Like... why is is it always trying to format it? Isn't it enough to format it once? By the way, it needs to be formatted as FAT32, right? Windows 98 doesn't support NTFS? I think FDISK should have taken care of this already. I know this is an old hard drive, but I connected to my main computer and it was able to read and write to it without a problem. It does have bad sectors though, but it's expected on an old hard drive like this. Any ideas?.. Update 2 I seem to be repeatedly getting stuck at the format screen where it asks to press any key to continue. So tried to cancel it this time with Ctrl+C. This leaves me at: A:\TOOLS> I can do DIR and CD and I tried to change to Z: drive. I tried running "setup" but there is no such thing. In fact, here is the result of it. Searching for Boot Record from CDROM..Not Found Searching for Boot Record from IDE-0.. OK Missing operating system Any other ideas?... Solution #2 Rik proposed to run Z:\setup. Now that I have found a way to drop to DOS prompt with Ctrl+C as described above (Update 2), I did try running setup but there is no such command or file in there. So that didn't work.

• Add Properties Back to the Context Menu in Firefox

  Have you noticed that the Properties Command has been removed from the Context Menu in Firefox 3.6? If you have been missing it here is how to get it back. Before With the newest version of Firefox you may have noticed a very useful command missing from the “Context Menu”. Here you can see that when we right clicked on the article link we were unable to “access” the properties for it… Same article and the same problem when trying to “access” the properties for one of the images. After Once you have installed the extension you can once again “access” the properties for those links… And those images… Looking very good… Conclusion If you have been frustrated with the removal of the “Properties Command” from the “Context Menu” in Firefox 3.6, you can now add it back in just a few moments. Keep in mind that you may or may not need to have your favorite media app open prior to “starting” FoxyTunes up (i.e. Play Button). Here is a good look at the “FoxyTunes Main Menu” and “Controls Sub-Menu”. The “Extras Menu”…if you click on skins you will be taken to the FoxyTunes Skins webpage. Here is a closer look into the “Configurations Menu” and one of the sub-menus. You do not need to look for options in the “Add-ons Manager Window”…everything you need is contained in these menus.   I have a domain on my server (on its own virtualhost), e.g. domain.com, which has a lot of subdomains with content on it. sub1.domain.com sub2.domain.com This virtualhost looks like this: ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName domain.com ServerAlias *.domain.com DocumentRoot /var/www/domain.com/public_html/ I want to put other domains on the server and have each of them link to a specific subdomain on domain.com. I don't want it to redirect. I want a similar behavior as the [L,PT] flags on mod rewrite. I've tried this: ServerName otherdomain.com ReWriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^otherdomain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://sub1.domain.com/$1 [PT,L] But it is giving me a 400 Bad request error. How would I configure such a virtualhost?

• 3ds Max with Parallels on a MacBook Pro

  I am trying to get 3ds Max to run under Parallels on my 15'' MacBook Pro, but it is ultimatly failing. To get any decent frame rate I have to put all the setting to low, but even then I get weird graphical "gliches" when I play. Controlls are unresponsive and very laggy as well. I have increased the video memory to 256mb, but that doesn't seem to have helped. What else should I do to make the game playable? Mod-edit: I changed TF2 with a "random" 3D modelling software, which solves gaming related issues.

• Cannot install gnome shell extensions

  I upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04, install gnome 3 and remove unity. My gnome version is 3.4.1. The GNOME Shell extensions is installed and enabled. When I use firefox to visit each extension page in https://extensions.gnome.org/, for example, https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/5/alternative-status-menu/, there is no where to install the extensions. I am told that one can install extensions by visite these extension pages. This is the guide I followed.

• Cannot apply unity --reset after modifying files

  So I have an idea of what I did wrong, I am just not sure how to fix it. • Using dnsmasq dns server on a laptop for a locally hosted tld

  Hi, I'm running a working apache install with mod vhost_alias on a laptop. Everything works, but I have to manually add hosts in my /etc/hosts file. I'd like to install dnsmasq to point a tld to my local machine (this is not the problem, I know how to add a wildcard tld to dnsmasq), but how do I make it so that it will go look for other dns servers upstream? Remember I'm talking about a laptop, so I will be working on various wifi hotspots, with different default gateways, dns servers, etc. I've searched for quite some time but the only things I find are guides that require you to hardcode the upstream servers wich is a no-go for me. Any help is appreciated!

The on-premise Oracle Enterprise Manager (EM12c) acts as a single tool to get a comprehensive view of your public AWS resources as well as your private cloud resources.  By deploying the plug-in within your Cloud Control environment, you gain the following management features: Monitor EBS, EC2 and RDS instances on Amazon Web Services Gather performance metrics and configuration details for AWS instances Raise alerts and violations based on thresholds set on monitoring Generate reports based on the gathered data Users of this Plug-in can leverage the rich Enterprise Manager features such as system promotion, incident generation based on thresholds, integration with 3rd party ticketing applications etc. AWS Monitoring via this Plug-in is enabled via Amazon CloudWatch API and the users of this Plug-in are responsible for supplying credentials for accessing AWS and the CloudWatch API. This Plug-in can only be deployed on an EM12C R2 platform and agent version should be at minimum 12c R2.Here is a pictorial view of the overall architecture: Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) Here are a few key features: Rich and exhaustive list of metrics. • How to get .cgi files working in python with Apache on Ubuntu

  I am not really sure whether to post this here or on SO. I think this has more to do with server administration so i am posting it here. I have apache 2.2 installed on my ubuntu 10.10 system with libapache2-mod-python. However when i put a .cgi file with python in it in my apache root (/var/www) it doesn't get executed and all i see is the script i have written. For example this should show the text "Test": #!/usr/bin/python print "Test" However the above script shows up in my browser. Any idea what conf files,etc. i'll have to go through and change to allow this to work ? (the file perms on test.cgi is 755 if that makes a difference.)

I have read a lot of tutorial on the internet regarding Django but I want to clarify something before I proceed. On my dedicated server I don't use FCGI. Instead I use Mod SuPHP. A lot of tutorial is talking about installing python using FCGI. My question is if it is safe to install Python if I'm using SuPHP?   Hi guys, I've been stuck with a compilation problem when building a standardised virtual machine on CentOS 5.4, and I'm in the dark here as to a) why this error is occurring, and b) how to fix it, and in the hope that someone else stumbles across this problem too, I'm hoping someone can help me find the solution here. I'm getting a configure: error: newly created file is older than distributed files! error when trying to compile Ruby Enterprise like below when I try to run the installer, and the solutions offered to on the forums (of checking the tine, and touching the files to update the time associated with them) don't seem to be helping here. What steps can I take to work out what the cause of this problem?   I find FreeNX is quite unresponsive compare to VNC when using over LAN. I run Netbeans inside a Quad Core Server and remote desktop to it through both NX & VNC. For VNC, the screen will be nicely updated as I scroll the Netbean IDE For FreeNX, flickering happened and the mouse cursor become unresponsive as I tried to do the samething. Have anyone encountered the same? I don't like VNC because when VNC doesnot correctly understand the "Windows" key (interpreted as Super L instead of Mod) Is there any adjustment that can avoid that annoyance? I have tried both FreeNX-Server and NeatX-Server and both resulted in the same unresponsiveness.

  Make is a standard tools for building software. But make decides whether a target needs to be regenerated by comparing file modification times. Are there any proven, preferably small tools that handle builds not for software but for data? Something that regenerates targets not only on mod times but on certain other properties (e.g. completeness). (Or alternatively some paper that describes such a tool.) As illustration: I'd like to automate the following process: get data (e.g. a tarball) from some regularly updated source copy somewhere if it's not there (based e.g. on some filename-scheme) convert the files to different format (but only if there aren't successfully converted ones there - e.g. from a previous attempt - custom comparison routine) for each file find a certain data element and fetch some additional file from say an URL, but only if that hasn't been downloaded yet (decide on existence of file and file "freshness") finally compute something (e.g. word count for something identifiable and store it in the database, but only if the DB does not have an entry for that exact ID yet) Observations: there are different stages each stage is usually simple to compute or implement in isolation each stage may be simple, but the data volume may be large each stage may produce a few errors each stage may have different signals, on when (re)processing is needed Requirements: builds should be interruptable and idempotent (== robust) when interrupted, already processed objects should be reused to speedup the next run data paths should be easy to adjust (simple syntax, nothing new to learn, internal dsl would be ok) some form of dependency graph, that describes the process would be nice for later visualizations should leverage existing programs, if possible I've done some research on make alternatives like rake and have worked a lot with ant and maven in the past. All these tools naturally focus on code and software build, not on data builds. A system we have in place now for a task similar to the above is pretty much just shell scripts, which are compact (and are a ok glue for a variety of other programs written in other languages), so I wonder if worse is better?

• URL Redirection in Multisite wordpress

  We have multi-site wordpress containing more then 50 blogs/sub-site. Our base URL to wordpress site is www.example.com/base-site/ and we have other sub-sites in it like www.example.com/base-site/site1 site2 ... etc. Now My question is to redirect the main-site to one of the subsites but a simple redirect 301 is not working. I tried some solutions of mod-rewrite but its not working either for this main-site to redirect to sub-site. A solution is required to Redirect www.example.com/base-site/ to www.example.com/base-site/site1 Solution used so far but not working for me solution1 solution2
