  • SimpleXMLElement (PHP) throwing error on XML root attributes

    I am working on a project that will take XML data submitted through a textarea input in a form then extract the data and throw it into a database. I am getting errors about the attribute in the root field of my XML (it is the same schema each time, but with different values).   • Problems with show hide jquery

    I am trying to get show hide to work on multiple objects but I am unable to get it to work. Any help would be nice an much appreciated... I am lost on how to do this.   • How to send web browser a loading page, then some time later a results page

    I've wasted at least a half day of my company's time searching the Internet for an answer and I'm getting wrapped around the axle here. I can't figure out the difference between all the different technology choices (long polling, ajax streaming, comet, XMPP, etc.) and I can't get a simple hello world example working on my PC. I am running Apache 2.2 and ActivePerl 5.10.0. JavaScript is completely acceptable for this solution. All I want to do is write a simple Perl CGI script that when accessed, it immediately returns some HTML that tells the user to wait or maybe sends an animated GIF. Then without any user intervention (no mouse clicks or anything) I want the CGI script to at some time later replace the wait message or the animated GIF with the actual results from their query. I know this is simple stuff and websites do it all the time using JavaScript, but I can't find a single working example that I can cut and paste onto my machine that will work in Perl. Here is my simple Hello World example that I've compiled from various Internet sources, but it doesn't seem to work. When I refresh this Perl CGI script in my web browser it prints nothing for 5 seconds, then it prints the PLEASE BE PATIENT web page, but not the results web page. So the Ajax XMLHttpRequest stuff obviously isn't working right.   • Best way for programmers to edit XAML

    I was wondering how programmers chose to edit XAML. Most of the programmers I speak to seem to edit the raw XML, but that seems nuts to me since it is such a natural thing for a more visual editor (of course you often have to get down to the raw code ultimately, but isn't there a better way to lay out a grid, or edit a template, or add non c# triggers or manage commands? The one that really set me off was editing a menu -- Visual Studio 1.0 had a better menu editor for C++ than the raw XAML editing experience.) When I edit .aspx files I use a visual editor much of the time, and then for the raw stuff I get into the html code. I am aware of Expression Blend, but that seems far more focused on artistic types and GUI experts rather than programmers. Does anyone have recommendations for a better editor for XAML than VS? Especially so since VS seems to have real nasty problems with XAML editing too, like bugginess and poor performance? Appreciate your helping this XAML newbie.

  • FAVICON: Favicon now showing up

    I'm using a .png favicon file and it is not showing up on my site. Doing a grep, I see the following in home.htm which looks right for me(I have also confirmed it's in the HEAD section within home.htm): home.htm: <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/png" href="favicon.png"> The favicon.png file is in the same directory as the home.html file.   • Should root ever own files in my (linux) home directory?

    This question started off asking why my history file wasn't working properly. Then I noticed it was -rw------- 1 root root and hadn't been updated since 2012-09-11. I changed the ownership, problem fixed. But now I see some other files are owned by root: .gitconfig .pearrc .viminfo Can I safely change them to be owned by my normal user, not root? I'm scratching my head trying to work out if there is a downside, or a security consequence. Losing seven weeks history is actually quite painful, because I lean on it a lot (e.g. to remind how I last did an archive). Would it be reasonable to set up a cron job to email me if it finds any files in my home directory owned by anyone else but me? Rephrased: is there ever a good reason for root to own a file in my home directory?

    Hi all, Am a newbie to iphone programming. i have a input box and the user can write his DOB(mm/dd/yyyy) into the box. Before i save the data i like to test for valid input. I am using Regexlite.h and Regexlite.m.i have the regular expression too. i want to compare the regex to the user entered value in text box.But am not knowing how to do it.Please help.     Hi, I have edited my form web part to look like this. I am a newbie to moss. As i understand, form web part allows only 1 column to be mapped to my list at a time. I need to configure to it have multiple columns mapped to my list view. Do I need to change any javascript function or use sharepoint designer. I have spent a week trying to accomplish this.   • Why do jQuery fadeIn() and fadeOut() seem quirky in this example?

    I've been playing with jQuery in an ASP.NET project and am finding some odd behavior with the .fadeIn() and fadeOut() functions. In the below example, a click on the button (ID Button1) is supposed to cause both the span of text with ID Label1 and the the button with the ID TextBox1 to do the following things: Fade Out Change the text of both the text box and the span of text to be You clicked the button Fade In Based on the browser I'm using, I get 3 different scenarios, and each element functions differently in each situation. Here's what happens when I actually click the button: TextBox1: In IE8, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in In IE8 Compatibility View, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in. However, the text in the box looks a little different than before the button was clicked. In FireFox 3.5.8, the text box doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. Label1: In IE8, the label doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. In IE8 Compatibility View, the label does fade out, change text, and fades back in, but the text looks a little different than before the button was clicked.   • C# Class Design Question

    This is a super newbie question, I've been programming for a while, but am just learning OOP. I have a class that works with user input via the C# console. There are different methods in this class to gather different input sets. I have another class that takes these input sets and puts them in a database. What is the best way to pass the input from my input class to my database insert class? My guess would be: Array1[] = inputClass.GetParameterSet1(); DatabaseInsertClass.InsertIntoDatabase1(Array1[]); Is there anything wrong with this or is there a better way to do this? Should I even have two classes (The database class could also take the user input)?

  • Django : proper way to use model, duplicates!

    Hello, I have a question about the proper, best way to manage the model. I am relative newbie to django, so I think I need to read more docs, tutorials,etc (suggestions for this would be cool!). Anyway, this is my question : I have a python web crawler, that is "connected" with django model. Crawling is done once a day, so its really common to find "duplicates". To avoid duplicates I do this : cars = Car.Objects.filter(name=crawledItem['name']) if len(cars) 0: #object already exists, update it car = cars[0] else: car = Car() #some non-relevant code here car.save() I want to know, if this is the proper/correct way to do it or its any "automatic" way to do it. Its possible to put the logic inside the Car() constructor also, should I do that? Thanks a lot!

  • Order of parts in SMTP multipart messages

    Hi, I'd like to know how to build an SMTP multipart message in the correct order so that it will render correctly on the iPhone mail client (rendering correctly in GMail). I'm using Javamail to build up an email containing the following parts: A body part with content type "text/html; UTF-8" An embedded image attachment. A file attachment I am sending the mail via GMail SMTP (via SSL) and the mail is sent and rendered correctly using a GMail account, however, the mail does not render correctly on the iPhone mail client. On the iPhone mail client, the image is rendered before the "Before Image" text when it should be rendered afterwards. After the "Before Image" text there is an icon with a question mark (I assume it means it couldn't find the referenced CID). I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the iPhone mail client or a bug in my mail sending code (I strongly assume the latter). I think that perhaps the headers on my parts might by incorrect or perhaps I am providing the multiparts in the wrong order.     Update: solved this problem see answer I want to make new posts on my blog remotely with XMLRPC api and i m trying to use metaWeblog.newPost function, because it provides much features.   • What's the difference between these Intel things?

    My head still spins with the various Intel "things" that may (or may not) need installing/configuring/yaddayadda'ing: Intel Rapid Storage Technology (is this driver? a software manager/package?), Intel Chipset (i.e., Intel INF Update Utility, Intel RST OROM, Intel RST driver, Intel Matrix Manager, etc. I think I have a basic understanding that the OROM is the low-level BIOS "driver", which communicates with the higher-level RST driver (in Windows). But what's the Chipset Installation software? What's the INF installation/update software? I'm confused as to what the other pieces are (or why there are so many to begin with). And as for a practical matter -- I'm wanting to upgrade my BIOS with a recent Intel OROM included, and then also update the Intel RST drivers in Windows -- BUT, as for the Windows side of things, I don't know what I should uninstall -- the Intel Chipset installer thing (through official uninstaller), Intel RST Manager, finding the individual Intel devices in Device Manager and right-clicking-uninstall/deleting, etc.

    I'd like to control iTunes through Objective-C ( I just can't get Python appscript installed correctly on my OS/X 10.6.3 system ... that would have been my first choice ). From what I gather, the IPC on Cocoa is based on Apple Events : is there either: Online documentation on iTunes / Apple Events API ? Instrospection mechanism to get to iTunes API? I know about Applescript Editor / Open Dictionary functionality but I can't figure out how to translate the information I see into IPC calls. Note: I have already tried working out a solution through PyObjC but the main function I am after is track searching which I can't figure out. Disclaimer: OS/X super-newbie here.

  • How to request device token on iphone

    Hello, I am able to use the didRegisterForRemoteNotificationWithDeviceToken callback method to get the device token of my iphone when subscribing to push notifications. My question is how can I get this token again a later time? When a user subscribes to something in my application, I want to send the device token and the id of the item they are subscribing to...but I can't figure out where to get the device token from. I tried using the uniqueIdentifer from the UIDevice class but this value is different than what the original token was. I supposed I could call registerForRemoteNotificationTypes each time my app starts to produce the token. But if I do that, I'm not sure how I can access this value from a different class (my didRegisterForRemoteNotificationWithDeviceToken callback is located in the main application delegate). Thanks for any help for an objective C newbie!

  • How to use iptables to foward outbound web traffic to a proxy?

    I've been hitting my head for a while as to how to do this. The scenario is as follows: I want to be able to forward all outbound web traffic from a browswer to Tor so that it is properly anonymized. Normally, one could just set the http proxy in the browser and be done with it but this is with a browser without the ability to do so specifically, a mobile browser. So ideally, what could be done then is to intercept all web/dns traffic requests from the browser and send it to Tor. Assume for this, that Tor will be running on the device too.

Apparently found that while adding user using Admin login allows registration form to have fields like email address, username, password,confirm password, etc with validations. But when anonymous use wants to register, then only fields like email address and username are displayed. I tried with Profile module available. But now how could I add some fields (password, confirm password, terms & condition check and receive news letter check box)and behavior (password, confirm password validation etc.)? If I am adding such fields they are also get visible in AdminAdd user form resulting duplicate fields like Password,Confirm password. Could you please suggest me how can I do this? I tried googling but confused me a lot as I am beginner to Drupal.
