  Hi there, I am using phpQuery in order to apply some twaks to editorial content. As its syntax is the same as jQuery, I consider this a dom scripting issue. To get rid of elements which are not representing anything, but wrapping other stuff (like the div in <div><p>blah</p></div> I came up with this selector: ['div:not([align][class][id][style][title][dir][lang][onclick][ondblclick][onmousedown] [onmouseup][onmouseover][onmousemove][onmouseout][onkeypress][onkeydown][onkeyup])'] which looks quite monstrous for a selector simply aming on Divs which just do not have any (valid) attribute. I guess there must be a more straight-forward way to accomplish that, right? Edit: Oh, and I just noticed that it even doesn't do wat I intended to ...

  Hi! I'm developping a web application that will be used either in Europe or in Asia (specially Japan -Hiragana, Kanji and Katana-, China and Korea). I'm using the following fonts: - ericssonga628.TTF - HelveticaNeueLTStd-Lt.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-LtEx.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bd.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-BdEx.otf When I tried to display Japanese characters, I don't get anything. I guess these fonts don't support East Asian characters... Do you know of any equivalent fonts? Also, I was thinking of creating a CSS for each language (or pack of languages) when the user changes the display language. For example, if the user selects "japanese", I'll use the japanese stylesheet. However, how do I switch from a CSS to another? Thanks in advance for your answers. Regards,

For example see below... <div class="show-menu one">open menu</div> // this is element one <div class="show-menu two">open menu</div> // this is element two I need it so, if element one get's click first, you can close the menu using element two on the first click. What is happening now is that you have to click element two twice in order for it to close the menu - vice versa I guess this is the toggle coming into play, any help would be great thanks. • Controling images of nodes in a TreeView (C#)

  Hi, I am pretty new with GUI, and I guess that is a silly question, but I am stuck... I am trying to make a folder explorer using TreeView control. now, I added an ImageList with two images - one for a folder and the other for selected folder. I used the 'BeforeExpand' event to change the icon of the current node (folder). The problem is that I dont know how to change it back when the user selects other folder... what event can I use? Maybe I dont use it right... ? Thanks guys :)

  Given an account with a list of transactions I would like to output a query that shows each transaction with the rolling balance (just like you would see on an online banking account). • Suppress error with @ operator in PHP

  In your opinion, is it ever valid to use the @ operator to suppress an error/warning in PHP whereas you may be handling the error? If so, in what circumstances would you use this? Code examples are welcome. Edit: Note to repliers. I'm not looking to turn error reporting off, but, for example, common practice is to use @fopen($file); and then check afterwards... but you can get rid of the @ by doing if (file_exists($file)) { fopen($file); } else { die('File not found'); } or similar. I guess the question is - is there anywhere that @ HAS to be used to supress an error, that CANNOT be handled in any other manner?

  Hi I have a app that starts with a empty UITableViewController, which is pretty .. well, emtpy. Now I was wondering if I could hint the user by painting something else on the view, like pointing an arrow to the plus button and say something like "press here to add something new" I'll guess I have to do this in the viewDidLoad method, where I also init my NSFetchedResultsController, so I actually know if there are any objects in my list. I never put controls on the screen by code so I am not sure where to start and where to put em on. will that be the [self view] ? Thanks

• Which relational databases exist with a public API for a high level language?

  We typically interface with a RDBMS through SQL. I.e. we create a sql string and send it to the server through JDBC or ODBC or something similar. Are there any RDBMS that allow direct interfacing with the database engine through some API in Java, C#, C or similar? I would expect an API that allows constructs like this (in some arbitrary pseudo code): Iterator iter = engine.getIndex("myIndex").getReferencesForValue("23"); for (Reference ref: iter){ Row row = engine.getTable("mytable").getRow(ref); } I guess something like this is hidden somewhere in (and available from) open source databases, but I am looking for something that is officially supported as a public API, so one finds at least a note in the release notes, when it changes. In order to make this a question that actually has a 'best' answer: I prefer languages in the order given above and I will prefer mature APIs over prototypes and research work, although these are welcome as well.

  I want to use Where method in Linq 2 entities that will be equal to this userRepository.Users.Where(u=>u.RoleID == 1 || u=>u.RoldID == 2).Select(o => new SelectListItem { Text = o.Role.RoleName, Value = o.RoleID.ToString() }).ToList(); The problem of course is in Where(u=u.RoleID == 1 || u=u.RoldID == 2) The problem is that I don't know how to use WHERE method with OR inside the WHERE clause. any ideas (the code above will not compile of-course b/c of the lambda expression. userRepository.Users returns an list of Users entities. I guess that and can be done using concatenation of .Where().Where() but I need an OR.

  There are plenty of question asking Which Programming Language Should I Learn? but I have not found an answer yet to the question what really motivates people to learn a specific new language?. There are the people who think they should learn a new language every year for educational purpose. How do they decide on the languages to be learned? Then I guess there are people who learn a new language because people around them told it is a fun language and they can build nice things with it. Of course if the current job requires it people would learn a new language but I think if the language seems to have a potential to earn money (e.g. There are plenty of jobs in Java or ObjectiveC can be used to write apps for the iPhone and make money). So why are you learning a new language or why have you learned the languages you know?

• Newbie SQL joining question: houses, refrigerators, and apples

  There are three tables in my database: apples, refrigerators, and houses. Each apple belongs to a refrigerator (it has a column that references the refrigerator that it's in), and each refrigerator belongs to a house. The problem is, each apple ALSO belongs to a house. I guess this isn't "normalized" or whatever, but it's the way it is. Obviously, each apple should belong to the house that its refrigerator belongs to. An apple can't be in two different places at once, after all. So, my question is this: what SQL statement will allow me to find all of the "bad apples" that for some reason incorrectly reference a different house than the refrigerator that they are supposedly in. In other words, I need to find the apples that contain contradictory information. I don't know if this is a "join" question or not, but I'm sure there's probably a very straightforward way of figuring this out. I just don't know what it is. Thanks for your help!

I guess that it makes no sense to store those on a separate table called advantages, because it will never be used to anything else despite display, and I fill it as too overkill. So I was thinking about creating a varchar255 field on this product table, and allow values to be inserted like: Very nice;Very good;Very cool On a free-form text input field. Then split those on a php array. My question is: Is it out there, a better approach ?

• Is there anyway to make Oracle faster?

  Hey people! I guess you people know more about this, than the ServerFault-Peps - If I'm wrong please correct me! Maybe you experienced it with the Oracle-Databasesystem too that it could use a hell of processorcapacity but it just takes something arround 10% so the processor is bored and your procedures are as fast as a snail in the desert. Do you know any way to say to the system something like: "Hey! You got a lot of power little database-jedi, so use it!" Thanks for your time and burned out braincells to answer this one!   i am inserting values into a table if the record exists already replace it, and if it does not exist then add a new one. so far i have this code: INSERT INTO table_name VALUES (value1, value2, value3,...) where pk="some_id"; but i need something like this if not pk="some_id" exists then INSERT INTO table_name VALUES (value1, value2, value3,...) where pk="some_id"; else update table_name where pk="some_id" what would be the correct SQL syntax for this? please note that i am using sql access and that i guess it can be a combination of vba and sql

• Drupal pass argument to page

  I have a custom Drupal module displaying some data in a table. Each row has a link which if clicked will delete the relevant row. Specifically, when the link is clicked it will take the user to a confirmation page. This page is really just a drupal form which says 'are you sure' with two buttons: 'Yes', 'No'. I figure I will need to pass the rowID to the confirmation page. My question: What is the typically way to pass data to a new page in Drupal 7? I guess I could just add the rowID to the URL and use the $_GET[] from the confirmation page... I don't think this is very safe and was wondering if there was a better 'Drupal' way. Thanks!

  Hi, I'm writing some JavaScript that changes the size of some content. To do this I need to know the size of a div within my content. If I have the following html: <div id="wrapper"> ... other stuff ... <div id="inner" style="height:400px">Some text in here</div> ... other stuff ... </div> And the following JavaScript: $('#inner').height('auto'); var height = $("#wrapper").height(); In FireFox and Chrome the height variable increases as the inner div expands to fit all the text. In IE this stays the same. I guess it doesn't redraw the div straight away. Anybody know how to get the new correct height in IE? Cheers

  I have a Ruby on Rails app that I built myself, but which needs a redesign by a professional designer. I know most designers just give you Photoshop mockups and slices, but I would like to hire someone to implement the design as well, which means rewriting the css style sheets and the erb and haml templates. The problem is that I want someone else to implement the redesign without exposing my business logic code to the redesign implementer. Also, I wish there was a way to allow a designer to implement a redesign on a Ruby on Rails site without having to know anything about Ruby on Rails. Are either of these scenarios possible using any combination of software tools? • How to open the command prompt and insert commands using Java?

Is it possible to open the command prompt (and I guess any other terminal for other systems), and execute commands in the newly opened window? Currently what I have is this: Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime(); rt.exec(new String[]{"cmd.exe","/c","start"}); I've tried adding the next command after the "start", I've tried running another rt.exec containing my command, but I can't find a way to make it work. If it matters, I'm trying to run a command similar to this: java -flag -flag -cp terminal-based-program.jar

• How do you compose DataTemplates / link to a child datatemplate in WPF?

  Here's the problem. Given a large/intricate datatemplate A, which has 3 sections - General, Properties, Misc. Imagine 3 grids for each. Now I need to reuse the Properties section of the above Datatemplate in another place. Reasons: To avoid redundancy + ensure that further updates to the datatemplate are applied identically to all usages. So I guess what I am asking for is an ability to slot in a link to a child DataTemplate in a parent Datatemplate. What's the best way to go about this ? • Stringification of a macro value

  I faced a problem - I need to use a macro value both as string and as integer. #define RECORDS_PER_PAGE 10 /*... */ #define REQUEST_RECORDS \ "SELECT Fields FROM Table WHERE Conditions" \ " OFFSET %d * " #RECORDS_PER_PAGE \ " LIMIT " #RECORDS_PER_PAGE ";" char result_buffer[RECORDS_PER_PAGE][MAX_RECORD_LEN]; /* ...and some more uses of RECORDS_PER_PAGE, elsewhere... */ This fails with a message about "stray #", and even if it worked, I guess I'd get the macro names stringified, not the values. Of course I can feed the values to the final method ( "LIMIT %d ", page*RECORDS_PER_PAGE ) but it's neither pretty nor efficient. It's times like this when I wish the preprocessor didn't treat strings in a special way and would process their content just like normal code. For now, I cludged it with #define RECORDS_PER_PAGE_TXT "10" but understandably, I'm not happy about it. How to get it right?

• How to make sure no scripts except those under my own domain, can include the db connection file?

  I would like to ensure that any scripts that are trying to "include" my database connection file are located under my own domain. I don't want a hacker to include the database connection file to their malicious script and gain access to my database that way. My connection file's name is pretty easy to guess, it's called "connect.php". So without renaming it and taking the security through obscurity route, how can I protect it by making sure all connection requests are made by scripts residing under my own domain name? How can this be checked using PHP?

  I have downloads for static files like product.exe. I want to limit access to these files with a .htaccess file so that only certain users can download it. I think this can be handled with mod_rewrite and I found this snippet online that blocks bad sites using the referrer. That way, the referrer can be a URL that cannot be accessed without first logging in. I am thinking about going this route and using the http referrer to give permission to the file. I know it may not be the best way to do it, and I guess the referrer can be spoofed, but it does not have to be THAT secure. I am also open to other ideas you may have to for limitting access. • Forced to use too many hidden fields; looking for an alternative approach

  I am looking for a better approach to do this. I have around 70 to 80 hidden fields in my page. This hidden fields are initialized at the server side and then used at the client side for validations, calculations, etc,. using java script. I wanted to know if there is any other alternative approach to using hidden fields in asp.net. I guess, these many hidden fields are increasing the page size and hence affecting the performance of my web page and I want to do away with it. FYI: I am working on an asp.net web application.
