Getting all objects with a certain element inside a collection of strings with criteria API.

Hey. I'm trying to build a Hibernate Criteria query to find entities that have a specific element inside a collection. We can take as an example a Book -object that looks like this: public class Book { private Long id; private String title; private Set<String> authors = new HashSet<String>(); } The entity is mapped like this: <class name="Book" table="Book"> <id name="id" column="BOOK_ID"> <generator class="native"/> </id> <property name="title"/> <set name="authors" table="Book_Authors"> <key column="BOOK_ID"/> <element type="string" column="AUTHORS"/> </set> </class> Now I would like to find out which books are written by Matt. With pure SQL I can do a query like this: String author = "Matt"; String query = "SELECT * FROM Book " + "WHERE BOOK_ID IN " + "(SELECT BOOK_ID FROM Book_Authors " + "WHERE authors = :author )"; List<Book> result = session.createSQLQuery(query) .addEntity(Book.class) .setParameter("author", author) .list(); This works all good and well, and I get out all books that Matt has been a part of writing. The project I work in, however, uses the Criteria API instead of raw SQL, and I haven't found a way to express the same query in that form. I've taken a look on the Restrictions API and the closest I've found is Restions.in(propertyName, collection) but that works the other way around (one value in object, many values to match against). Any ideas?

Executing logic before save or validation with EF Code-First Models

I'm still getting accustomed to EF Code First, having spent years working with the Ruby ORM, ActiveRecord. ActiveRecord used to have all sorts of callbacks like before_validation and before_save, where it was possible to modify the object before it would be sent off to the data layer. I am wondering if there is an equivalent technique in EF Code First object modeling. I know how to set object members at the time of instantiation, of course, (to set default values and so forth) but sometimes you need to intervene at different moments in the object lifecycle. To use a slightly contrived example, say I have a join table linking Authors and Plays, represented with a corresponding Authoring object: public class Authoring { public int ID { get; set; } [Required] public int Position { get; set; } [Required] public virtual Play Play { get; set; } [Required] public virtual Author Author { get; set; } } where Position represents a zero-indexed ordering of the Authors associated to a given Play. (You might have a single "South Pacific" Play with two authors: a "Rodgers" author with a Position 0 and a "Hammerstein" author with a Position 1.) Let's say I wanted to create a method that, before saving away an Authoring record, it checked to see if there were any existing authors for the Play to which it was associated. If no, it set the Position to 0. If yes, it would find set the Position of the highest value associated with that Play and increment by one. Where would I implement such logic within an EF code first model layer? And, in other cases, what if I wanted to massage data in code before it is checked for validation errors? Basically, I'm looking for an equivalent to the Rails lifecycle hooks mentioned above, or some way to fake it at least. :)

Floated element not included in parent, causing margin-bottom problems

Right, so I've got a section of a page: <div class="article"> <div class="author"> <img src="images/officers/john_q_public_thm.jpg" /> <span class="name">John Q. Public</span> <span class="position">President</span> </div> <abbr class="postdate"> <span class="month m-01">Jan</span> <span class="day d-31">31</span> <span class="year y-2009">2009</span> </abbr> <div class="content"> <h2 class="title">Article Title</h2> <p>Pellentesque habitant morbi...facilisis luctus, metus</p> <p>Pellentesque habitant morbi...facilisis luctus, metus</p> </div> </div> <div class="article">...</div> <div class="article">...</div> The author and abbr divs are floated to the left. Each one of these article divs needs to be separated from its siblings by 5px or so. However, the author div is extending beyond the technical "height" of the div. The margin-bottom is doing nothing, as the space is being taken up by the floated author. This is somewhat difficult to envision, so I've placed it on my web server Is there any way to force the parent to be at least as tall as all of the floated elements within? If anyone figures out what I'm saying, thanks.

Hi, I'm doing Grails To Action sample for chapter one. Every was just fine until I started to work with Services. PHP dynamic Page-level DocBlocks

I was wondering if there is a way to interact with the Page-level DocBlocks. My question is more specifically about wordpress plugin development, but this question has arised also in a non-wordpress environments. The reason is mainly the possibility to easily change VERSIONS and names throughout a large project with maybe a constant definition - but that will reflect also in the docblock.. The following example Docblock is from a wordpress plugin I write - /* Plugin Name: o99 Auxilary Functions v0.4.7 Plugin URI: http://www.myurl.com Description: some simple description that nobody reads. Version: 0.4.7 Author: my cool name Author URI: http://www.ok-alsouri.com */ Is there a way to transform it into : $ver = '0.4.7'; $uri = 'http://www.myurl.com'; $desc = 'some simple description that nobody reads.'; $mcn = 'my cool name'; etc.. etc.. /* Plugin Name: o99 Auxilary Functions ($ver) Plugin URI: ($uri) Description: ($desc) Version: ($ver) Author: ($mcn) Author URI: ($$uri) */ obviously for echo to work I would need to break the docblock itself, and I can not WRITE the docblock directly into it´s own file . In shorts : can I "generate" a docblock with php itself somehow (I would think that the answer is - "no" for the page itself.. But maybe I am wrong and someone has some neat hack :-) ) Is that even possible ?

Web-based map authoring with ArcGIS Server?

I'm embarking on a project in which users will author, save, and share their own maps over the web. We will provide them with a large number of feature classes, but users will effectively author their own maps, map symbologies, etc. Furthermore, they will create and edit their own feature classes, which they can both map and share with other users. The model for AGS map services seems to be: author a map in ArcMap, save an MXD/MSD, publish. I'm struggling to understand how this can help us build a dynamic web mapping platform as described above. Can anyone offer some tips on how to go about it?

I am having a hard time to understand how I can save the authors in view function? I am thinking of using a hidden field to record all the author id's but I am having a hard time figuring out how to save it on the postback.

Hi All, I am trying to find examples of how to change an existing xml files Element Value. Using the following xml example: <book> <title>My Book</title> <author>John Smith</author> </book> If I wanted to replace the author element value 'John Smith' with 'Jim Johnson' in a Python script using DOM, how would I go about doing so? I've tried to look for examples on this, but have failed in doing so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Rylic

Modify on-the-fly verbose_name in a model field on django admin

Hi I have this sample model working with the admin class Author(models.Model): name = models.CharField(_('Text in here'), max_length=100) with verbose_name set as ugettext_lazy 'Text in here', but sometimes, depending on the site_id i want to present a diferent verbose name, so I modified the init in this way def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): super(Author, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) #some logic in here self._meta.get_field('name').verbose_name = _('Other text') It works, displaying the 'Other text' instead the 'Text in here'... except for the very first time the author/add view is used. ¿Is it the right way to do it? ¿How can i fix the first time problem? The title section of my LaTeX documents usually look like \title{Title} \author{Me} %\date{} %// Today's date will appear when this is commented out. \begin{document} \maketitle I'd really like to add another line in the title section for a version number: \title{Title} \author{Me} \version{v1.2} %\date{} %// Today's date will appear when this is commented out. \begin{document} \maketitle It doesn't necessarily have to be a command named version, but how can I get a version number to appear after the date (which is after the author)? I can manually set the version number.

Hi all, I have a base class Participants inherited by Artist, Author and TextWriter. I have only one table in the data store: Participants { ID, FirstName, LastName, IsArtist, IsAuthor, IsTextWriter, } The idea is to have a class for all the roles that a participant can have. I've managed to create the edmx file but when I try to get an Participant (as Artist) that is also an Author I receive the following error: All objects in the EntitySet 'Participants' must have unique primary keys. However, an instance of type 'Artist' and an instance of type 'Author' both have the same primary key value, 'EntitySet=Participants;ID=1'. Thank you

I have a rather simple question. I'm trying to get information out of an XML file, and now I need to get the that's inside another This is my XML code: <author> <name>Random_name1 (Random Name)</name> <uri>http://thisisanrandomurl.com</uri> </author> I can get the info with this code: Name = item.Element(ns + "author").Value, But this gives me: "Random_name1 (Random Name) http://thisisanrandomurl.com" I only want the info inside the tags.
