How can I use a vanilla Yahoo! account (free) with mail.app in Snow Leopard?
I note that with my iPod Touch I can access my Yahoo! account without a single problem.
I need to run Symantec Endpoint Protection scans on Windows 7 systems using the SYSTEM account. I know that I can run DoScan.exe to manually run a scan, and this works fine using a regular user account. Unfortunately, when I try to run DoScan as SYSTEM, the application exits immediately without running a scan.
Is there a way that I can get this to work, or another application besides DoScan.exe that I should be using?
I have a single Exhange account with multiple aliases (e-mail addresses), for which it recieves incoming mail messages. Using "rules" it is possible to have the incoming messages sorted into folders depending on the address they are sent to.
When composing and sending messages from Outlook, the primary address of the exchange account is used in the "From" header. Without adding additional mail accounts (I really only have one), is it possible to learn Outlook about the alias addresses, making them available as "From" addresses when composing new messages?
I accidentally disabled the administrator account on an install of Windows Server 2008 R2 via the net user command.
Now I cant get an elevated command prompt to re-enable the admin user, nor do any privileged operation that requires an admin password. Normally I would type in a password and click yes but there is no password field and yes is grayed out.
How can I re-enable the administrator account?
I recently discovered that a yahoo address I usually use had been deactivated after I had left it logged out for about 1 month. unfortunately, I need it to recover a different email account and none of the other methods are working. I tried signing up again but the screen just flashed and went to a blank form, with no message as to why it was rejected.
is there a way to recover a inactive yahoo account?
As a server administrator, can I edit a user's "Manage Account Access" settings. This is where a user sets who can see their calendar. Whenever we add a new user, we have to go to every person's computer and add the new user's account to this. It would be great if I could do this server side.
I want to create an account that will perform the following:
Join computers to a domain (not restricted to 10, like a normal user)
Check for computer accounts in AD
Delete computers from AD
Move computers between OUs
I don't want to allow it to do anything else, so don't want a domain admin account.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction in terms of permissions? Not sure if I should be using delegation of control wizard?
Cheers,
Ben

Is there a way to setup Outlook not to have a default account to send from? i.e. I want to be prompted each time I send an email (using Outlook 2007) for the email account to use.
Scripting question. Dang, it should be easier than this. I have a file with a list of names. I'd like to turn those names into folders. Whenever I try the FOR loop, all I get is the name of the file I want to read from being created as a folder, not the contents of the file being turned into folders. Just want to mkdir for each item in the list.
I kept my passwords recorded but the location on my PC where I kept this went missing. I now can't get into Windows Server 2008 R2 as I can't remember the administrator or named account credentials and have no password reset disk. This is on a VM (VM Player - which btw is temp till I get Hyper-V).
How can I get back in? If I make AD can I join the server to AD and then set a domain account?
i have setup an exchange 2010 account on microsoft outlook 2010
and i can read my emails, but i am not able to send emails, when i create a new email and click send, the messages are not sent, they don't even get to the outbox folder.
my guess is that the issue is not from exchange itself, becuase i can send emails with this exchange account with java code using smtp port 25
please advise how to fix this issue.
I am trying to get our subversion configuration management repository to work with active directory. At the moment I am having a problem with some users having mixed case user names in active directory.
Would it be possible to change all users with mixed case user names to be all lowercase instead?
I'm using Windows Server 2003 Active Directory with 64 bit domain controller running on Windows 2000 mixed functionality.
In a networked WinXP environment, I have a computer-controlled device which I want to connect to the network, but allow various people to use. The computer must be left running and logged on at all times.
My thought is to run the computer under a "shared account" which would allow each user to logon/unlock the screen using their own network password (i.e., the password for their personal account).
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Tom
I am thinking about taking a service that runs on multiple servers in my domain currently as "NETWORK SERVICE" and configuring it to run as an AD domain account for various reasons. If I have this one account running the same service under multiple servers, do I need to create SPN's for each of the machines and services it runs? Would I need to worry about creating SPN's at all?
If the answer is no, then what is the proper role of an SPN?
I suppose that my main Linux user account password serves as my SSH password as well. Is there a way I can modify this? As it turns out, I'd like to have a REALLY secure SSH password for obvious reasons, but a less secure local password, as it makes typing in passwords a heck of a lot easier on a machine. Is there a way I can change my account password in SSH without changing my Linux user password?
So my boss as allways was messing with cpanel on our production server (we only have production servers, which is bad enough)... so now all of the accounts is pointing to the default apache page in /usr/local/apache/htdocs instead of /home/useracc/public_html.
Is there a way how to tell cpanel/WHM to recreate the vhost configuration of the account from scratch?
the account has a database and emails associated with them so before i do anything i don't want to mess anything up with cpanel.
I want to backup my AWS snapshots to a completely separate AWS account for additional security (if my AWS credentials were acquired someone could delete all my snapshots and volumes). But I'm a bit stumped on how to do this.
There doesn't seem to be a way to store a volume or snapshot in S3 such that another user could access that data in s3 and store it in a separate AWS account.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to acheive this?
Thanks
I hid one of the accounts on my computer from the welcome screen by adding it to the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
I was hoping I'd be able to log in to this account by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del on the welcome screen, but Windows 7 completely ignores this. Is there a way to login to the hidden account on a Windows 7 machine?
My client gave me a key and a secret to manage his EC2 things, but to make one of my AMI's available to run I have to fill in the Account Number. Is it possible to deduce the account number from the key and the secret?
Obviously I also asked the client for this information, but since it's weekend and I'm not fond of waiting I wanted to see if I could figure it out myself. Have you done this before?
I recently registered a oneindia domain and they provided a email account at my domain name

I have a huge contact list on my phone, so every time I start to write some word on a text field contact names will pop as first options for the autocompletion, which is almost never what I want.
Is there some way to disable the autocompletion with contact names without disabling it for dictionary words?
I have a Windows 2008 server in our corp network which hosts multiple IIS applications. I want to have users access it via multiple names, e.g. http://app1, http://app2. How do I register multiple host names in AD to point to this server? Can I do this myself on the server, or do I need to have a domain admin do this?
So, I just discovered that you can hide the filenames of pictures and videos when you are in a thumbnail view in explorer (via View - Hide file names)... but often I have other files mixed in. This causes the thumbnails to be all spaced out. How can I hide all file names (maybe folders too)?
Is it possible to have more than one password simultaneously attached to a login account in Linux?
I'd like to be able to add a temporarily-authorized user to an account on my web server, but don't want to have to change the login afterwards.
Is this possible?
