  • iPodMusicPlayer doesn't send notifications, if it is created in background

    - by Aleksejs
If iPodMusicPlayer is created in background, then I doesn't send notifications about playback state changes. Here is code: - (void)initMusicPlayer { musicPlayer = [MPMusicPlayerController iPodMusicPlayer]; NSNotificationCenter *notificationCenter = [NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter]; [notificationCenter addObserver:self selector:@selector(musicPlayerStateChanged:) name:MPMusicPlayerControllerNowPlayingItemDidChangeNotification object:musicPlayer]; [notificationCenter addObserver:self selector:@selector(musicPlayerStateChanged:) name:MPMusicPlayerControllerPlaybackStateDidChangeNotification object:musicPlayer]; [musicPlayer beginGeneratingPlaybackNotifications]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(initMusicPlayer) withObject:nil]; } Is there some way how to create iPodMusicPlayer in background? Otherwise if it is created on the main thread, it blocks executions for a while.

  • Grails background call vie camle or background-thread

    - by user304217
I need to improve the response time for a Grails application, so I need to use concurrent processing to separate work that can be done after the users web page is refreshed It seems like the Camel and background-thread plugins can do this for me. I tried the Camel way, but get 'Session does not exists' errors, which looks like hibernate can not operate in an Camel acynchonouse call. In the background-thread description they mention that they solved this problem. Can any one tell me which which will be the better choice and which ones plays nicely with Hibernate? All the best Ulrich

  • Background image JFrame with content

    - by Petr Safar
I have a JFrame with BorderLayout, there are panels on all sides (North, East ,...). In the panels there are labels and buttons mostly. Now I want the frame to have a background image, some research told me that i had to change the content pane of my frame. When I try this however, the content gets put in the background and isn't visible. Also, I don't know how to resize the image if the frame is resized. Is there an easy fix for this or will I have to rework most of my code?

  • Is there an HTML code that can make my background picture transparent and my text non-transparent?

    - by user1831312
Okay so I've been typing some HTML code for a technology class that I need to satisfy for my Education major. This is what i have for my background: body { background-image:url('islandbeach.jpg'); background-repeat:repeat; background-position:center; background-attachment:fixed; background-size:cover; } Now, I want to make my background transparent or faded so I can see the text and the other image that I have. The background is too colorful to be able to see the words without having to squint. Are there any HTML codes that can do this for me? I am not a pro at this stuff, I've just been following everything my professor has told me to do so please explain stuff in baby steps if you do have an answer. Thank you so so much!

  • How to convert or burn a .DMG image file on Windows?

    - by Nick Josevski
Does anyone have software they use frequently and can recommend to burn a mac created .DMG file on a windows operating system? Ideally free, or at least reasonably priced. Or an alternative application convert it to .ISO or something equivalent. I'm looking for reassurance I won't be wasting several (more expensive than normal DVDs) dual layer DVDs to get this done right. As the .DMG file is 7gig.

  • Make a Drive Image Using an Ubuntu Live CD

    - by Trevor Bekolay
Cloning a hard drive is useful, but what if you have to make several copies, or you just want to make a complete backup of a hard drive? Drive images let you put everything, and we mean everything, from your hard drive in one big file. With an Ubuntu Live CD, this is a simple process – the versatile tool dd can do this for us right out of the box. We’ve used dd to clone a hard drive before. Making a drive image is very similar, except instead of copying data from one hard drive to another, we copy from a hard drive to a file. Drive images are more flexible, as you can do what you please with the data once you’ve pulled it off the source drive. Your drive image is going to be a big file, depending on the size of your source drive – dd will copy every bit of it, even if there’s only one tiny file stored on the whole hard drive. So, to start, make sure you have a device connected to your computer that will be large enough to hold the drive image. Some ideas for places to store the drive image, and how to connect to them in an Ubuntu Live CD, can be found at this previous Live CD article. In this article, we’re going to make an image of a 1GB drive, and store it on another hard drive in the same PC. Note: always be cautious when using dd, as it’s very easy to completely wipe out a drive, as we will show later in this article. Creating a Drive Image Boot up into the Ubuntu Live CD environment. Since we’re going to store the drive image on a local hard drive, we first have to mount it. Click on Places and then the location that you want to store the image on – in our case, a 136GB internal drive. Open a terminal window (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and navigate to the newly mounted drive. All mounted drives should be in /media, so we’ll use the command cd /media and then type the first few letters of our difficult-to-type drive, press tab to auto-complete the name, and switch to that directory. If you wish to place the drive image in a specific folder, then navigate to it now. We’ll just place our drive image in the root of our mounted drive. The next step is to determine the identifier for the drive you want to make an image of. In the terminal window, type in the command sudo fdisk -l Our 1GB drive is /dev/sda, so we make a note of that. Now we’ll use dd to make the image. The invocation is sudo dd if=/dev/sda of=./OldHD.img This means that we want to copy from the input file (“if”) /dev/sda (our source drive) to the output file (“of”) OldHD.img, which is located in the current working directory (that’s the “.” portion of the “of” string). It takes some time, but our image has been created…Let’s test to make sure it works. Drive Image Testing: Wiping the Drive Another interesting thing that dd can do is totally wipe out the data on a drive (a process we’ve covered before). The command for that is sudo dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda This takes some random data as input, and outputs it to our drive, /dev/sda. If we examine the drive now using sudo fdisk –l, we can see that the drive is, indeed, wiped. Drive Image Testing: Restoring the Drive Image We can restore our drive image with a call to dd that’s very similar to how we created the image. The only difference is that the image is going to be out input file, and the drive now our output file. The exact invocation is sudo dd if=./OldHD.img of=/dev/sda It takes a while, but when it’s finished, we can confirm with sudo fdisk –l that our drive is back to the way it used to be! Conclusion There are a lots of reasons to create a drive image, with backup being the most obvious. Fortunately, with dd creating a drive image only takes one line in a terminal window – if you’ve got an Ubuntu Live CD handy! • Add Background Images and Themes to Windows 7 Media Center

    - by DigitalGeekery
Are you tired of the same Windows Media Center look and feel? Today we’ll show you how change the background and apply themes to WMC. Changing the Basic Color Scheme in WMC There are a couple of very basic color scheme options built in to Windows 7 Media Center. From the WMC Start Menu, select Settings on the Tasks strip and then select General. On the General settings screen select Visual and Sound Effects.   Under Color scheme you’ll find options for Windows Media Center standard, High contrast white, and High contrast black. Simply select a color scheme and click Save before exiting.   If you have used Media Center before you are familiar with the standard blue default theme. There is also the high contrast white. And, the high contrast black. Changing the Background Image with Media Center Studio Themes and custom backgrounds need to be added with the third-party software, Media Center Studio. You can find the download link at the end of this article. You can use your own high resolution photo, or download one from the Internet. For best results, you’ll want to find an image that meets or exceeds the resolution of your monitor. Also, using a darker colored background image is ideal as it should contrast better with the lighter colored text of the start menu. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Media Center Studio (link below), open the application select the Home tab on the ribbon and make sure you are on the Themes tab below. Click New. Select Biography from the left pane and type in a name for your new theme.   Next, click on the triangle next to Images to expand the list below. You’ll want to browse to Images > Common > Background. You should see a list of PNG image files located below Background. We will want to swap out the COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG images. Select COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and click on the Browse button on the right.   Browse for your photo and click Open. Your selected image will appear on the left pane. Now, do the same for the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG. When finished, select the Home tab on the ribbon at the top and click Save.   Now switch to the Themes tab on the ribbon and the Themes tab below. (There are two Themes tabs which can be a bit confusing). Select your theme on the right pane and click Apply. Note: You won’t see the image backgrounds displayed. Your theme will be applied to Media Center. Close out of Media Center Studio and open Windows Media Center to check out your new background.   You can load multiple backgrounds images and switch them periodically as your mood changes. You might like to find a nice background featuring your favorite movie or TV show.   Perhaps you can even find a background of your favorite sports team.   Installing Themes with Media Center Studio Theme7MC has made available a small group of Media Center Studio Theme packs that are simple to download and install. You can find the download link below. Note: Before installing a theme, turn off any extenders and close Windows Media Center. Download any (or all) of the Theme7MC theme packages to your Media Center PC. Open Media Center Studio, select the Themes tab (the one at the top) and click Import Theme.   Browse for the theme you wish to import and click Open. Select your theme from the themes pane and click Apply. Media Center Studio will proceed to apply your theme. You should then see your new theme appear under Current theme on the left theme pane. Close out of Media Center Studio. Open Media Center and enjoy your new theme. Conclusion Media Center Studio runs on Windows 7 or Vista and gives users a solution for personalizing their Media Center backgrounds. It is a Beta application, however, so it still has a few bugs. Currently, there are only a handful of themes available at Themes7MC, but what they have is pretty slick. If you’d like to further customize the look of Media Center, check out our previous article on how to customize the Media Center start menu with Media Center Studio. • Powerpoint template image placeholders can't send to back

    - by Marcus
We want to be able to set up a PowerPoint 2007 template with a picture frame image. We then want to insert an image in normal view which would appear behind the picture frame image that was put in the template (so it looks logically like a picture in a picture frame). Problem is, when we insert the image in normal view it always appears on top of the picture frame image. It appears that you can't send to back when the other elements are included in a template. Any ideas?

  • XNA - Moving Background Calculations

    - by Jesse Emond
Hi, My question is relatively hard to explain(for me, at least), so I'll go one step at a time and just tell me in the comments if it's not clear enough. So I'm making a "Defend Your Castle" type 2D game, where two players own a castle and create units that will move horizontally to try to destroy the opponent's base. Here's a screenshot of the game: The distance between both castles is much bigger in a real game though, bigger than the screen's width actually. Because the distance is bigger than the screen's width, I had to implement a simple 2D camera: Camera2D, which only holds a Location Vector2 (and I always make sure this camera is within the field area). Then, I just move all the game elements(castles, units, health bars) by that location, so that if a unit is at (5, 0), and the camera's location is (5, 0), then the unit's position will be moved by 5 units to the left, making it (0, 0) on the screen. At first, I simply used a static background with mountains and clouds(yeah, those are supposed to be mountains and clouds). Obviously, this looked awful: when you moved the camera, the background would stay immobile. Instead, I'd like to make a moving background, kind of a "scrolling" one. But rather than making a background with the same width as the distance between the castles, I'd like to make one that is a little bit smaller(but still bigger than the screen's width). I thought this would create an effect of "distance" with the background(but it might just look awful, too). Here's the background I'm testing with: I tried different ways, but none of them seems to work. I tried this: float backgroundFieldRatio = BackgroundTexture.Width / fieldWidth;//find the ratio between the background and the field. float backgroundPositionX = -cam.Location.X * backgroundFieldRatio;//move the background to the left When I run this with fieldWith = 1600, BackgroundTexture.Width = 1500 and while looking at the rightmost area, the background is offset to the left by a too big amount, and we can see the black clear color in the back, as you can see here: I hope I explained properly what I'm trying to achieve. Thank you for your time. Note: I didn't know what to look for on Google, so I thought I'd ask here.

  • How to display consistent background image

    - by Tofu_Craving_Redish_BlueDragon
Drawing a large background is relatively slow in PyGame. In order to avoid drawing BG every frame, you could draw it once, then do nothing. However, if something is overdrawn onto the surface and keeps moving, you will need to redraw the background in order to "erase" the color pixels left by moving object; otherwise, you will have "traces" of the moving object. I have a moving object in my PyGame. However, I do not want to "clear the color buffer" by redrawing the background image. Redrawing the background image every frame is slow. My solution : I will "clear" only required portions (where the "traces" of moving object are left) of the "buffer" by redrawing portions of background. Is there any other better way to have a consistent background?

  • Background custom button animation using WPF

    - by ajtp
    Hi, I am using Resources dictionaries to customize my controls and apply them as themes to my WPF application so I have implemented one for the button control. A code snippet for my custom Button.xaml is (its namespace is MyWPFApp.Themes): <ResourceDictionary ...> ... <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="NormalBackground" EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="sc#1.000000, 0.250141, 0.333404, 0.884413" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#ccffffff" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="OverBackground" EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="#da5e69" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#d12e27" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="ClickBackground" EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="#d22828" Offset="1"/> <GradientStop Color="#b00000" Offset="0"/> </LinearGradientBrush> ... <Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> ... <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource NormalBackground}"/> ... </Style> </ResourceDictionary> and I apply it by doing the following from my main Application.xaml: <Application ...> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="Themes/Button.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application> What I try to do is to change background color, for example, from White to Lime for 6 seconds by doing this from one of my pages, MyPage1.xaml, using StoryBoard: <Page x:Class="MyWPFApp.Pages.MyPage1" ...> <Page.Resources> ... <Storyboard x:Key="sbBtnResetHC" Storyboard.TargetName="BtnResetHC" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Background). (SolidColorBrush.Color)"> <ColorAnimation From="Pink" To="Green" By="Blue" Duration="0:0:6" RepeatBehavior="3x" AutoReverse="True" /> </Storyboard> ... </Page.Resources> ... <Button x:Name="BtnResetHC" Click="BtnResetHC_Click" Width="90" Visibility="Collapsed" /> ... </Page> and from code behind MyPage1.xaml.cs I start animation by doing this: Storyboard sb = (Storyboard)FindResource("sbBtnResetHC"); sb.Begin(); when the button is visible, but it doesn't work for me. Any ideas what's wrong? Maybe another possibility, as I want the animation starts on button visible is to do a trigger for the button over Visibility property, Is it a better solution? Thanks a lot!

  • Binding Image.Source to String in WPF ?

    - by Mohammad
    I have below XAML code : <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" DataContext="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}}" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <Image x:Name="TestImage" Source="{Binding Path=ImageSource}" /> </Grid> </Window> Also, there is a method that makes an Image from a Base64 string : Image Base64StringToImage(string base64ImageString) { try { byte[] b; b = Convert.FromBase64String(base64ImageString); MemoryStream ms = new System.IO.MemoryStream(b); System.Drawing.Image img = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(ms); ////////////////////////////////////////////// //convert System.Drawing.Image to WPF image System.Drawing.Bitmap bmp = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(img); IntPtr hBitmap = bmp.GetHbitmap(); System.Windows.Media.ImageSource imageSource = System.Windows.Interop.Imaging.CreateBitmapSourceFromHBitmap(hBitmap, IntPtr.Zero, Int32Rect.Empty, BitmapSizeOptions.FromEmptyOptions()); Image wpfImage = new Image(); wpfImage.Source = imageSource; wpfImage.Width = wpfImage.Height = 16; ////////////////////////////////////////////// return wpfImage; } catch { Image img1 = new Image(); img1.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(@"/passwordManager;component/images/TreeView/empty-bookmark.png", UriKind.Relative)); img1.Width = img1.Height = 16; return img1; } } Now, I'm gonna bind TestImage to the output of Base64StringToImage method. I've used the following way : public string ImageSource { get; set; } ImageSource = Base64StringToImage("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").Source.ToString(); but nothing happen.   • Resizing image algorithm in python

    - by hippocampus
So, I'm learning my self python by this tutorial and I'm stuck with exercise number 13 which says: Write a function to uniformly shrink or enlarge an image. Your function should take an image along with a scaling factor. To shrink the image the scale factor should be between 0 and 1 to enlarge the image the scaling factor should be greater than 1. This is not meant as a question about PIL, but to ask which algorithm to use so I can code it myself. I've found some similar questions like this, but I dunno how to translate this into python. Any help would be appreciated. I've come to this: import image win = image.ImageWin() img = image.Image("cy.png") factor = 2 W = img.getWidth() H = img.getHeight() newW = int(W*factor) newH = int(H*factor) newImage = image.EmptyImage(newW, newH) for col in range(newW): for row in range(newH): p = img.getPixel(col, row) newImage.setPixel(col*factor, row*factor,p) newImage.draw(win) win.exitonclick() I should do this in a function, but this doesn't matter right now. Arguments for function would be (image, factor). You can try it on OP tutorial in ActiveCode. It makes a stretched image with empty columns :.

  • Loop background images using jQuery

    - by da5id
I'm trying to get the back-ground image of a legacy div (by which I mean it already has a background image, which I cannot control & thus have to initially over-write) to smoothly rotate indefinitely. Here's what I have so far: var images = [ "/images/home/19041085158.jpg", "/images/home/19041085513.jpg", "/images/home/19041085612.jpg" ]; var counter = 0; setInterval(function() { $(".home_banner").css('backgroundImage', 'url("'+images[counter]+'")'); counter ++; if (counter == colours.length) { counter = 0; } }, 2000); Trouble is, it's not smooth (I'm aiming for something like the innerfade plugin), and it's not indefinite (it only runs once through the array). All help greatfully appreciated :)

  • Wait until image loads before performing function

    - by Steven
I'm trying to create a simple portfolio page. I have a list of thumbs and an image. When you click on a thumb, the image will change. When a thumbnail is clicked, I'd like to have the image fade out, wait until the image is loaded, then fade back in. The problem I have right now is that some of the images are pretty big, so it fades out, then fades back in immediately, sometimes while the image is still loading. I'd like to avoid using setTimeout, since sometimes an image will load faster or slower than the time I set. Here's my code: $(function() { $('img#image').attr("src", $('ul#thumbs li:first img').attr("src")); $('ul#thumbs li img').click(function() { $('img#image').fadeOut(700); var src = $(this).attr("src"); $('img#image').attr("src", src); $('img#image').fadeIn(700); }); }); <img id="image" src="" alt="" /> <ul id="thumbs"> <li><img src="/images/thumb1.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb2.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb3.png" /></li> </ul>

  • Sprite background image lags on mouse hover

    - by user351342
I have basic DOM menu that has sprite background images for the first level of "LI"s. It works just fine, but I guess there is some problem and instead of switching the image right away on hover it goes blank and after about a second the hover image "appears" (shifts). That happens only on first hovering. After that it's smooth like it's supposed to be. Refresh the page and there it is again... Frustrating... Here is a link to check it out: http://goo.gl/6FAM The problem exist on Firefox v3.6.3. Chrome 5.0.375 and IE 8.0.7600 don't have this issue. Any ideas?
