  • OS X Enclosing folder shortcut?

    This may have been asked before, but I'm wondering whether there is a shortcut for navigating to the enclosing folder in OS X (Snow Leopard)? I find navigating Finder particularly frustrating since it's hard navigating back to the enclosing folder (especially when you jump to a folder and realize the back button is disabled)... I'm hoping for something other than Command+Up, since that's the key combination I use to navigate Spaces.

  • send process straight to bg in bash

    I find I frequently use the combination of Suspend (^Z) then send to background (bg) in bash. Ideally I would like an alternate keyboard shortcut that negates the need to follow ^Z with the bg command, and just send the active process straight to background. Does this exist? Edit: I should have been more specific, but appending & to the command is not sufficient, as they often require interaction (stdin) between launch and backgrounding. So: launch interact background

  • Varnish + Tomcat vs Apache + mod_jk + Tomcat

    Does anyone have some comparison data in terms of performance for using in front of Tomcat either Varnish or Apache with mod_jk. I know that AJP connector suppose to be faster than HTTP, but I was thinking that in combination Varnish which is lighter and highly optimized could perform better. There is also the discussion between static resources (which I think will perform faster with Varnish than Apache, even with mod_cache) and dynamic pages.

    Hi there I'm a developer looking at introducing ClickOnce deployment for an internal .NET Winforms application that will be distributed via the corporate network. Currently the product roll out and updates are handled by Group Policy however I would like to control the updates via ClickOnce deployment now. What I would like to know is, how should I initially roll out the package to make sure that all users have got it. Can I use a combination of Group Policy (the roll out) and then rely on the ClickOnce deployment model for any further updates?

    I recently used Raw Copy to make an image of my 300gb Raptor Hd to a OCZ Vertex SSD 60GB. And When I pluged in the SSD to boot I get a Grub Error 18. I have tried to changed in the BIOS setting to LBA, Large, Auto, trying different combination's. Any advice. thanks, Clint

    Can I get solar winds to change a DNS alias in Active directory based upon a specific set of events or conditions? I have a collection of applications that use hostnames in combination with database names in order to resolve database connections, problem is that they haven't considered how a failover would work in practice so I want the product to provoke a change in DNS to point the apps at the right place if we get into a failure situation.   • ZFS - how to partition SSD for ZIL or L2ARC use?

    I'm working with a Sun x4540 unit with two pools and newly-installed ZIL (OCZ Vertex 2 Pro) and L2ARC (Intel X25-M) devices. Since I need to keep these two pools in the near-term, I'd like to know how to partition these devices to serve both pools of data. I've tried format, parted and fdisk and can't quite seem to get the right combination to generate recognizable partitions for zpool add. The OS in this case is NexentaStor, but I will also need this for general OpenSolaris solutions.

    I was wondering how we can change the Win-E key combination to another target besides the default C:\. I've tried changing the shortcut in Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer to %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe "C:\My Folder\", in case Win-E references this shortcut, but that did not help.     If I understand correctly, the Tor client works as a combination of a proxy server and application plugins (such as the Firefox Torbutton) that enable use of the proxy and contain additional application-specific privacy features (such as suppressing cookies, sandboxing JavaScript, turning off Flash). That works very well with applications that support it (such as Firefox). But is there a way to establish a VPN over Tor, so that my whole Wifi network can be protected, including applications that do not support proxy configuration and devices like iPod touches?

I'd like to setup outlook to just ask me for the case number, fill it in the appropriate place in the body and subject of the email and then send it to a preset list of recipients (it's a static list of people).     What is the best method to rip/encode a standard definition DVD, to be streamed to a Xbox360 from a Vista Media Center pc (preferably using free software). I’ve found tons of tutorials on the web explaining how to create wmv’s from vob files using FFMpeg, but every combination of settings that I have tried has resulted in very poor video quality. I’ve also tried various video conmversion tools, but everything seems to result in poor video quality, or audio that is out of sync with the picture. Please help!

    I'm having problems recording audio on windows using usb audio devices. The recorded material will have some kind of jitter/clicking noice.
