  • Alias for Drupal "Sites" folder with Apache on Windows Server 2008

    I'm having to move a number of sites from a LAMP stack to a WAMP one, provided by Zend, and I've hit a problem. Our architecture is a number of loadbalanced web servers which have their own local webapp drives which are kept in sync with one server performing as the master copy. There is then a separate DFS share provided to all web servers from our pillar san. Usually a Drupal install under our LAMP cluster would have the main Drupal web app in a local HTDOCS mount for each server and the SITES directory within Drupal would then be symlinked out to the DFS or NFS share so that there is a common FILES and TMP directory. The problem I'm having is that there seems to be no equivalent of symlinks on Win Server 2008, shortcuts have a .ink at the end making Apache see them as a distinct file. So I've tried using an alias call in the vhost file like this; <Location /drupal-626/sites> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Location> Alias /drupal-626/sites "Z:\Path to alternate sites directory" The root for this test is; http://main-domain-url/drupal-626/ Unfortunately this isn't work so I'm wondering if any of you have a solution which would work?   • Trying to configure DNS on a Godaddy Virtual Dedicated host, Mediatemple Domain Registration

    A client of mine purchased VD hosting with Godaddy and a domain name with Mediatemple. I've never configured DNS from scratch, and I'm finding it very difficult to find any sort of explanation on how to go about it. As of right now, Mediatemple is pointing to the Godaddy's ns1.domaincontrol.com and ns2.domaincontrol.com nameservers. The VD hosting on Godaddy (via their Simple Control Panel) has options to "Add a new domain", which brings you through a wizard of sorts that asks you if the domain has already been registered (yes), what it is (dclowd9901.com for this example), create a system username and password for it (with checkboxes for SSH and FTP access), which level of user can administer it, and whether a mail account should be setup. When complete, it also creates a zone file. In this zone file, the Primary nameserver is ns1.dclowd9901.com; the records are as follow (where 12.23.12.34 is the presumed host): @ A 12.23.12.34 @ NS ns1 @ NS ns2 ns1 A 12.23.12.34 ns2 A 12.23.12.34 @ MX mail www A 12.23.12.34 ftp A 12.23.12.34 ssh A 12.23.12.34 mail A 12.23.12.34 If anyone can shed any light on this for me, explain to me the interactions between the registrar and the host and so on, I'd be very grateful.   • Sample domain model for online store

    We are a group of 4 software development students currently studying at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Currently, we are tasked with developing a web application that functions as a online store. We decided to do the back-end in Java while making use of Google Guice for persistence(which is mostly irrelevant for my question). The general idea so far to use PHP to create the website. We decided that we would like to try, after handing in the project, and register a business to actually implement the website. The problem we have been experiencing is with the domain model. These are mostly small issues, however they are starting to impact the schedule of our project. Since we are all young IT students, we have virtually no experience in the business world. As such, we spend quite a significant amount of time planning the domain model in the first place. Now, some of the issues we're picking up is say the reference between the Customer entity and the order entity. Currently, we don't have the customer id in the order entity and we have a list of order entities in the customer entity. Lately, I have wondered if the persistence mechanism will put the client id physically in the order table, even if it's not in the entity? So, I started wondering, if you load a customer object, it will search the entire order table for orders with the customer's id. Now, say you have 10 000 customers and 500 000 orders, won't this take an extremely long time? There are also some business processes that I'm not completely clear on. Finally, my question is: does anyone know of a sample domain model out there that is similar to what we're trying to achieve that will be safe to look at as a reference? I don't want to be accused of stealing anybody's intellectual property, especially since we might implement this as a business.

  • Anemic Domain Model, Business Logic and DataMapper (PHP)

    I've implemented a rudimentary ORM layer based on DataMapper (I don't want to use a full blown ORM like Propel/Doctrine - for anything beyond simple fetch/save ops I prefer to access the data directly layer using a SQL abstraction layer). Following the DataMapper pattern, I've endeavoured to keep all persistence operations in the Mapper - including the location of related entities. My Entities have access to their Mapper, although I try not to call Mapper logic from the Entity interface (although this would be simple enough). The result is: // get a mapper and produce an entity $ProductMapper = $di->get('product_mapper'); $Product = $ProductMapper->find('[email protected]','email'); //.. mutaute some values.. save $ProductMapper->save($Product) // uses __get to trigger relation acquisition $Manufacturer = $Product->manufacturer; I've read some articles regarding the concept of an Anemic Domain model, i.e. a Model that does not contain any "business logic". When demonstrating the sort of business logic ideally suited to a Domain Model, however, acquiring related data items is a common example. Therefore I wanted to ask this question: Is persistence logic appropriate in Domain Model objects?

  • Keeping a domain model consistent with actual data

    Recently domain driven design got my attention, and while thinking about how this approach could help us I came across the following problem. In DDD the common approach is to retrieve entities (or better, aggregate roots) from a repository which acts as a in-memory collection of these entities. After these entities have been retrieved, they can be updated or deleted by the user, however after retrieval they are essentially disconnected from the data source and one must actively inform the repository to update the data source and make is consistent again with our in-memory representation. What is the DDD approach to retrieving entities that should remain connected to the data source? For example, in our situation we retrieve a series of sensors that have a specific measurement during retrieval. Over time, these measurement values may change and our business logic in the domain model should respond to these changes properly. E.g., domain events may be raised if a sensor value exceeds a predefined threshold. However, using the repository approach, these sensor values are just snapshots, and are disconnected from the data source. Does any of you have an idea on how to solve this following the DDD approach?

  • dns hosting - url forwarding - hiding forwarded url?

    I have free dns hosting with the domain registrar and I'd like the dns hosted domain www.example.com to display contents of www.myotherlongdomain.com. I only have 301/302/iframe forwarding options, however I want to mask the redirected (longdomain) url. If I use frames, users can view the source and see the (longdomain) url the contents are coming from. How can I hide it so it always displays www.example.com? There is no cloaking/masking option with the registrar. Thanks.

  • Forwarding non-www domain to other domain with dns

    Is it possible to forward firstdomain.com to www.seconddomain.com or seconddomain.com using surely dns records? I know how to forward www.firstdomain.com to seconddomain.com (with CNAME). What I am trying to do is move my site from one domain to another (new) one, and not break all the links which use the old domain name. I can't do a 301 redirect as it's hosted on Github Pages and I don't have access to the webserver. Thanks

    Possible Duplicate: How could I prevent my mail from being recognized as spam?   • Configure Web app for external access (IIS7), allowing only certain users via AD group. All users need internal access

    We have a Web app running in IIS7 (Server 2008 R2). I now need to allow external access with an SSL certificate, so certain users (e.g. the owner of the company) can use it remotely without VPN. They want to roll out the external access only to those specific users at first (thinking: a Windows credential prompt), BUT everyone will still need access internally (HTTP), without the prompt. I have the SSL cert installed on the server and public DNS configured. I've been trying to figure out how to work the authentication/authorization. I was thinking I need to disable Anonymous authn and set Windows authn, then I keep coming back to 'URL Authorization' in my research for the group setting; however, when I tried URL authz, (removed allow all, added allow rule for the special group), it broke the site internally (403.2 Forbidden, I believe it was). I thought maybe setting up a second site in IIS pointing to the same program would work, but the exact same thing happened (and again with a new app pool, just for kicks). So I guess my question is, how would you do this: allow external access, limited to users in a specific AD group, while still allowing internal access without a credentials prompt? How do I separate the external HTTPS and internal HTTP authorization requirements? Will I need to just copy the entire contents of the app in Windows Explorer to a new folder and create my external site from that? Is Windows authentication the correct option for this? I did come across this, which refers to creating a custom module.   • Drupal Views Duplicate values being returned when using a relationship

    I am having a problem with views. I have a view and am passing it a taxonomy term by name to it. I then have a relationship to a related node. For my output fields I am returning the related Title and related Body. I however have duplicates in my results. I have turned distinct to yes but believe this is working on the nodes being return and not the related node. Any ideas how I can remove the duplicates? Update Below is the query being run when I only get the title SELECT DISTINCT(node.nid) AS nid, node_node_data_field_wine_company.title AS node_node_data_field_wine_company_title, node_node_data_field_wine_company.nid AS node_node_data_field_wine_company_nid FROM node node LEFT JOIN content_type_wine node_data_field_wine_company ON node.vid = node_data_field_wine_company.vid INNER JOIN node node_node_data_field_wine_company ON node_data_field_wine_company.field_wine_company_nid = node_node_data_field_wine_company.nid LEFT JOIN term_node term_node ON node.vid = term_node.vid INNER JOIN term_data term_data ON term_node.tid = term_data.tid WHERE term_data.name = 'test' GROUP BY nid It looks like I should be grouping by node_node_data_field_wine_company_nid or selecting distinct values from there. Any ideas?

    Hi, I'm using Views module and an exposed taxonomy based filter, to allow users to select a subselection of articles. I need to further customize my filter: 1) I want the user able to order the tags alphabetically by clicking a checkbox (if this checkbox is unchecked the default order is reset. 2) I want all tags selected in the beginning to show my user all the articles. (Additional tags can be added by the user later, so I cannot just select all the tags in Views settings, because the new ones would be uncovered). thanks

    Hey there. I'm trying to take the results of a view - using the function views_get_view_result() - and sort the array in a way I couldn't do from within the Views interface. So far so good. I've got a $rows variable with all of the stuff I need. Now... How do I put it back? :) Before I needed this sort, I used views_embed_view(), but I can't do that anymore. Grateful for any help on this, feels like I'm so close to cracking it!

    hi, I'm using Views for some nodes, and I want to display a different View title according to which taxonomy tags are selected in my filter. I already have taxonomy field for each node in my view. But this is not what I need. I basically need to display all the currently filtered tags on the top of my view. I was wondering if I can solve adding some line with php, how ? Thanks Update: I'm now using the Views Header field in Views settings, but it only processes html code, not php, so I cannot add taxonomy terms. Is it because of my CCK Editor settings ? thanks

  • Drupal Imagecache not working

    I created an Imagecache setting that just resizes to 125px wide. First issue is that the preview image is 404. Then I want to print out an image via <?php print theme('imagecache', 'imported_image', $node->picture, 'test', 'test', $attributes); ?> 'imported_image' being the preset and $node-picture is a correct path. The html prints out ok but the path it's trying load the image from does not exist. In sites/default/files/imagecache there is no folder with the name of the preset. Flushing the preset does nothing. The imagecache folder is writeable by everyone. This is on MAMP. Anyone know what the issue could be?

  • Drupal path alias not found

    Got a Drupal6 install, and I'm using a webform to collect some data. The webform has a path alias set on the edit page as 'contact_us'. The issue that I can't figure out (and hard to reproduce) is from time to time, some users end up on the page 'node/'. Seems like that is a possible failure trying to find the alias or system path. Any one seen this before? Any suggestions on some places to look or to why this is happening? Regards
