  • Having Troubles Getting My Apache Server Online(NodeJS and Apache)

    I am new here. This is my situation. I am using nodejs modules, serialport2 and socket.io, because I am trying to forward the data from my arduino hardware through serialports. In my server side script, I read the data then forward it to the client side. Now I am using Apache to serve the html page,which is the client side. I am running Nodejs on port 8000 and Apache on port 80. It is running OKAY when I view it in my browser typing localhost:80. The data is appearing and seems fine. Now when I tried to get my Apache server online using a Free DDNS provider(http://www.noip.com/) and my port80, it loaded the webpage but there are no data appearing on the page. What seems to be the problem here? Really need your expertise and advice. Thanks in advanced!

  • ESXi v5.5 is having random crashes

    HW: Type: HP Proliant ML350 G5 RAM 22GB CPU 1 x Intel Xenon E5405 2.00GHz OP: ESXi 5.5 just updated from 5.1 to try and fix the crashes occurring on ESXi 5.1 on same hardware. I'm trying to find the error on why one of our servers is crashing, it has had two lock ups in 24 hours now. The internal error light on the front is blinking red, on the inside only "#5 and #6 page 76 manual" the "Processor 2" light "amber" and the "Power" light "green" is shining. in the logs the only errors i can see in the relevant time frame is in log under.   • enable vnc on xen without having to shut down all the domains

    The last guy forgot to enable vnc connections on our Xen blade and I need to install a windows domain, is there any way I can enable vnc without shutting down half our company? From what I can tell I need to edit xend-config.sxp which would likely require a restart of xend, which means shutting down all the running domains. Is there any way around this? thanks :)

  • Having problems VPN'ing into our Windows server network.

    Hi folks, When two people (on their notebooks) try to VPN to our office, only the first user gets a connection. the second user always times out. Is it possible for VPN to allow two or more people, using / sharing the same EXTERNAL PUBLIC IP to connect/authenticate? Now for some specifics (cause those two statements are very broad). I'm not in the IT Dept. I'm a developer. Our IT Dept don't really care (sigh) so it's up to me to fix this crap. Our office is all Microsoft shop stuff - servers and clients. We also have a firewall (watchguard brand?) and some other crazy setups (yes i know, it's very vague :( ). So i'm wondering - is it possible for multiple users, from the same public IP, to connect via VPN to a windows server? i'm under the impression - yes. But it is possible that this only happens when the clients (who are all behind the single, public IP .. otherwise they will have their OWN ip's) need to have UPnP running or something? this is killing me and i need to start asking the right questions cause these guys don't know what they are doing and i can't work without this happening. I know this is a vauge question with so many 'if-what's-etc' but maybe some questions/suggestions from you guys might start to lead to solving this problem.   • Having to Toggle Between Two Sets of Video Drivers

    So, I've got a Win7 64-bit gaming PC with GTX 260's. Recently, StarCraft 2 had an issue with flickering, which NVidia fixed with a new set of drivers. However, these new drivers induce unplayable graphical errors with Neverwinter Nights 2, something me and my friends still play from time to time. I am seeking advice on the "best" way to rectify this situation, to be able to switch between two driver releases, without compromising the stability of my system (if Windows stability isn't an oxymoron). I'm wondering if Windows 7 is structured in such a way that I can constantly reinstall these two sets of drivers back and forth overtop each other, possibly six or eight times a day, without very quickly driving myself to reformat to maintain that "just like new" performance. I'm loathe to have to reformat the drive and maintain two copies of the operating system, but I'll do it if I have to.

  • having trouble setting up ganglia on three machines

    I am running ubuntu 11.10 I have one machine with gmetad, gmond and ganglia-webinterface. When I browse the web interface this machine picks up the local gmond output. I then added another machine, running only gmond. I didn't really change anything in the config, only the name of the cluster. This machine's output showed up in the web view. The I tried to add a third machine, similarly to the second, but it's not showing up in the web view. I tried looking at syslog and running as a daemon, but I'm not seeing anything suspicious there. Any tips for trouble shooting this?

  • Having problems with Grub2 booting Ubuntu from my External Hard Drive

    I installed Ubuntu on my external hard drive but it won't boot on my laptop. what do i do? i did some reading and traced the source of the problem to grub2. Apparently, grub2 doesn't use the device's UUID, and uses the linux directory instead (/dev/sdf2). This means that whenever i plug my E-HDD into a system that has a different number of drives connected to it, i won't be able to boot without editting the boot command. I don't understand it too well but that's what i got from what i read. Is there anyway to fix this?

    I just installed Debian Wheezy on my homeserver. I want to assign 2 ip's to it on the same network interface, 1 static ip (eth0) and 1 dynamic ip (eth0:1). I know it doesn't make much sense but I need it to test something. I edited my /etc/network/interfaces to be like this: auto lo eth0 eth0:1 iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.178.240 network 192.168.178.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.178.255 gateway 192.168.178.1 iface eth0:1 inet dhcp when I bring up eth0:1 (ifup eth0:1) I get the following error (eth0 works fine) Bind socket to interface: No such device Failed to bring up eth0:1. is it even possible to have a dynamic and static ip on the same network adapter?

[WARN ] -XX:PermSize=1024m is not a valid VM option. Ignoring [WARN ] -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m is not a valid VM option. Ignoring Could not create the Java virtual machine. This indicates the Java that I have on my system java version "1.6.0_20" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02) Oracle JRockit(R) (build R28.1.0-123-138454-1.6.0_20-20101014-1351-windows-x86_64, compiled mode) and I am running a Windows 7 on Intel Core 2 duo 3Ghz processor and 8gb RAM Any pointers in solving this issue would be of great help.   • Not able to safely remove external disk after having mounted and unmounted a VHD on it

    I am using Windows 7 SP 1. I have an external hard disk (Seagate 500GB) which I am able to use without problems most of the time. I am able to plug it in, use it and then safely unmount it via the "Eject USB Mass Storage Device" option in the taskbar tray. However, if I attach a VHD file located on this disk using "Disk Management", then detach the VHD and finally try to safely disconnect the disk via the system tray, I get an error which says: "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device: Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using the device, and then try again later." How do I avoid this problem? Which process could still be accessing the device (even after I have closed the "Disk Management" application) ?

Which works rather well in this configuration however my logs are getting flooded of this entry authentication not applicable on intercepted requests whenever a transparent connection is made. So far, I can't seem to find any documentation that would describe how to suppress these messages ?

    Hi everyone, Are there any way known to trick an computer with XP to appear to have more RAM? I need to install a specific program (which fits in my system requirements), which is bundled with a number of other programs on an DVD. Unfortunately, the other programs besides the one that I need demand twice the amount of RAM that's available on my computer and the installation is closed due to this.   • Apache user owns git project root, with git-http-backend setup, but still having permissions problems

    I've setup git-http-backend on my vps server (CentOS), under one of its users. The apache user owns the git project root directory - /home/theuser/git/, as below: drwxrwxr-x 3 apache apache The apache user also owns everything inside that directory. But I'm still getting the following error in git when trying to push: error: unpack failed: unpack-objects abnormal exit The apache error log shows the following error: error: insufficient permission for adding an object to repository database ./objects I've tried every combination of user permissions and enabled read/write access, but not getting anywhere. Should the git user own this folder? Can someone explain exactly what user should own this folder, or what steps I might take to fix this problem?

  • Where might I be having problems with making web server acessable (XAMPP)

    I've installed XAMPP and it seems to be working - sort of. It will serve pages if I access it via http://localhost or 127.0.0.1 but not if I use the actual IP address I have. I thought it might be a firewall issue, so I turned off the firewall and the issue still remains. I don't have enough experience to know where to look next, so I thought I might get some advice here. Running on Vista. The error I'm actually getting it "Timed Out". I've had XAMPP running on this machine prior, but I've had to reinstall my OS/new hard drive ... and I can't seem to get it working.

  • DNS record reappears after having been deleted

    I've got a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 acting as a domain controller for a small network. It provides DHCP and DNS among a few other services. It's only got a single NIC, but it's configured with two IP addresses. I want it's name to resolve to one of the two IP addresses assigned to its NIC. I've unchecked "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" under the "Advanced TCP/IP Settings". Currently we've got two distinct DNS Host (A) records for this domain controller: dc-001 - 10.0.0.1 dc-001 - 10.0.100.1 I've deleted the first entry but it continues to reappear in my dnsmgmt snap-in. Unfortunately I'm not a Microsoft systems administrator by trade. Does anyone familiar with Microsoft server environments know why a deleted Host (A) record would reappear? Is there another check-box I need to toggle? Thanks in advance to all of you Microsoft experts out there.

  • Having internet on a VirtualBox

    I am running a linux laptop and I set up a VirtualBox under windows XP. My only problem is the VirtualBox doesn't seem to be connected to internet - When I do the connection diagnosis it tells me there is no connection. I am using an NAT adapter, and I bind the port 80 from my computer to the port 80 of the VirtualBox, and same for the ports 8080, but still no result. I would be grateful is someone could help me to sort this out. EDIT: thinking of it, what is making the problem hard - and painful - is the absence of error message. If I try to use a given adapter to share my computer's connection with the VirtualBox, and it doesn't work, I have no way to know why. So, it would be really helpful if someone could share a way to access this king of information (is there a log file somewhere or a way to run VirtualBox from command line in a verbose mode?).
