Best Zend Framework architecture for large reporting site?

I have a site of about 60 tabular report pages. Want to convert this to Zend. The report has two states: empty report and filled in with data report. Each report has its own set of input boxes and select drop downs to narrow down searches. You click on submit and it retrieves the data. Thats all each page does. Do I create 60 controllers with each one with default index action and getData action? All I have read online do not really describe how to architect a real site.

hello friends i am having three drop downs and button in my web page naming 1st 2nd and 3rd in which the value of 2nd depends on 1st and value of 3rd depends on 2dn its done using ajax now when i click on the button it calls one function of ajax which takes value from database and then select value at 1st dropdown and then fire on change event using fireEvent() function which is used to set values in 2nd dropdown and then the function called at button now select value at 2nd dropdown and then fire on change event using fireEvent() function which is used to set values in 3rd dropdown The main problem is that when i click on button it set value in 1st dropdown but 2nd and 3rd dropdown shows blank values

Embeded video displayed over html

For youtube, we find solution by adding extra parameter: <param name="wmode" value="opaque" /> which resolve this issue, but what can i do to fix other video sources? An image from byte to optimized web page presentation

I get the data of the stored image on database as byte[] array; then I convert it to System.Drawing.Image like the code shown below; public System.Drawing.Image CreateImage(byte[] bytes) { System.IO.MemoryStream memoryStream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(bytes); System.Drawing.Image image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(memoryStream); return image; } (*) On the other hand I am planning to show a list of images on asp.net pages as the client scrolls downs the page. The more user gets down and down on the page he/she does see the more photos. So it means fast page loads and rich user experience. (you may see what I mean on www.mashable.com, just take care the new loads of the photos as you scroll down.) Moreover, the returned imgae object from the method above, how can i show it in a loop dynamically using the (*) conditions above. Regards bk

mocking command object in grails controller results in hasErrors() return false no matter what! Plea

I have a controller that uses a command object in a controller action. When mocking this command object in a grails' controller unit test, the hasErrors() method always returns false, even when I am purposefully violating its constraints. def save = { RegistrationForm form -> if(form.hasErrors()) { // code block never gets executed } else { // code block always gets executed } } In the test itself, I do this: mockCommandObject(RegistrationForm) def form = new RegistrationForm(emailAddress: "ken.bad@gmail", password: "secret", confirmPassword: "wrong") controller.save(form) I am purposefully giving it a bad email address, and I am making sure the password and the confirmPassword properties are different. In this case, hasErrors() should return true... but it doesn't. Safari/Chrome (Webkit) - Cannot hide iframe vertical scrollbar

Hello, I have an iframe on www.mydomain.com that points to support.mydomain.com (which is a CNAME to a foreign domain). I automatically resize the height of my iframe so that the frame will not need any scrollbars to display the contained webpage. On Firefox and IE this works great, there is no scrollbar since I use <iframe ... scrolling="no"></iframe>. However, on webkit browsers (Safari and Chrome), the vertical scrollbar persists even when there is sufficient room for the page without the scrollbar (the scrollbar is grayed out). How do I hide the scrollbar for webkit browsers? Thanks, Ken

Scrum for Team System 2010 - How to use story points instead of Hours

I have installed TFS 2010 using the Scrum for Team System v3. The work item templates want you to enter a Project Backlog Item that includes story points, then you need to add linked tasks as a child of the PBI. It is at the task level where you can assign team individuals, update estimated hours left, etc. What is the importance of the Story Points used at the PBI item if individual tasks are using hours? Has anyone customized this template so that the child work item tasks use story point burn downs instead of hours? Also, I would be nice to have the total number of story points from each individual task roll up into the PBI item as a read only field for total story points. Thanks for your time.

Senario: Open an account in CRM 2011 beta and click on activities on the left navigation pane, you will now see activities of the selected account and now have two filter drop down lists on the top which allow you to view activities of the account or sub accounts of this account. Is this filter drop downs something customizable or is it a feature only available for system entities (like acitivity)? Is this functionality provided because Activity entity have N:1 relationship with Type of Behavior = System? can we provide the same or similar functionality by using Type of behavior = Parental!?!? Visual Studio 2008 Navigate Forewards/Backwards Buttons Don't Work As Expected

I just installed VS2008 on my new Win7 box. I have Navigate Backwards and Navigate Forwards buttons on my tool bar. When I change between documents, I do NOT see a list drop down for each of the buttons like should be seen here after opening multiple documents and switching between their methods: How it should work. Instead, I just see the buttons without drop downs. I find that navigating forwards and backwards doesn't work as it should. I should be able to click in different lines of the code and press the nav back/forwards buttons to jump between lines. This is not the case. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced. PS - I installed SP1 just to see and nothing changed.

Master data validation in service layer

User enters the data in the forms by choosing values from the master data drop downs in web layer. Data is populated in the dropdowns based on some logic from the master data tables and we know for sure that its a valid master data as far as web layer is concern. Now my question is, should be check the validity of the master data in service layer again because we want to use service layer for mulitple interfaces (Web User Interface, Web Services, Unit Test Cases etc.) or we should validate the master data in respective interfaces only.

Remembering Form information

Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I feel my situation is a little different... I have a huge form (like 50 questions involving checkboxes, drop downs, text boxes and textareas) When a user submits a form and the validation page throws an error, is there an easy way to keep the info they entered? My intitial form is on form.php and then the form action is form_posted.php, before anything is run on form_posted.php I have my validation code which sends the user back to form.php with an error number (eg. form.php?error=3) if there was a problem with any in particular. This is done with header("form.php?error=3") so on form.php do the posted variables exist? even tho the page wasn't specifically sent with any posted variables. Also if this is the case, is it completely secure to be making the value of a textbox what it was before? like <input type="text" value="php echo $_POSTED["username"] ?>">

All the choices should be unique, so once the option is selected in one combobox, it should be removed from others. Now, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/877328/jquery-disable-select-options-based-on-radio-selected-need-support-for-all-brows offers a nice solution, but how can I modify this to work with selects instead of radio buttons?

Issue with Z-Index and IE7

I've browsed on the board and tried and bunch of these solutions and I'm still stuck. The page I'm looking at is here. In IE7, the drop downs are showing up behind the homepage content. And if you go to one of the site sections, by clicking on "Menus", they even show up behind the dynamically created side-bar. I've given the drop down a z-index of 1000 and relative positioning. On the homepage, the images have relative positioning and a small z-index (1 or 2). Any ideas?

Hi, I have been seeing this thing for months and years and i really wanna know how to do that one. For example, there is an element in the middle of the page. and it is in absolute position. When scroll downs and comes to that element, it becomes fixed positioned and follows the scroll, when scroll up and back to middle of the page it becomes absolute again. I can give google adwords accounts page as an example, in the campaigns page, your keywords' header is the same thing. how to do that one ? thanks

Efficient job progress update in web application

Hi, Creating a web application (Django in my case, but I think the question is more general) that is administrating a cluster of workers doing queued jobs, there is a need to track each jobs progress. When I've done it using database UPDATE (PostgreSQL in this case), it severely hits the database performance, because each UPDATE creates a new row in a table, and in my case only vacuuming DB removes obsolete rows. Having 30 jobs running and reporting progress every 1 minute DB may require vacuuming (and it means huge slow downs on a front end side for all the employees working with the system) every 10 days. Because the progress information isn't critical, ie. it doesn't have to be persistent, how would you do the progress updates from jobs without using an overhead database implies? There are 30 worker servers, each doing 1 or 2 jobs simultaneously, 1 front end server which serves a web application to users, and 1 database server.

UI Design - design pattern for city/country drop down? (ASP.NET MVC)

What is the best way to do a city/country dropdown pair in ASP.NET MVC? I see lots of places with country above city, but that's unnatural: in real life we write city/country. I've used city, then country, but the problem is that the user then has to go backwards after changing the country. The other problem is what do you do about cities/countries not in your list? If city/country are both drop downs, then the user cant type their own city if it is missing. But if you have a dropdown and a textbox, that makes it unwieldy (you end up with 4 controls to enter 2 pieces of data). Are there any examples websites where the city/country dropdown pair are done in a very useable and clear manner?

How do you pass objects between View Controllers in Objective-C?

I've been trudging through some code for two days trying to figure out why I couldn't fetch a global NSMutableArray variable I declared in the .h and implemented in .m and set in a the viewDidLoad function. It finally dawned on me: there's no such thing as a global variable in Objective-C, at least not in the PHP sense I've come to know. I didn't ever really read the XCode error warnings, but there it was, even if not quite plain English: "Instance variable 'blah' accessed in class method." My question: What am I supposed to do now? I've got two View Controllers that need to access a central NSMutableDictionary I generate from a JSON file via URL. It's basically an extended menu for all my Table View drill downs, and I'd like to have couple other "global" (non-static) variables. Do I have to grab the JSON each time I want to generate this NSMutableDictionary or is there some way to set it once and access it from various classes via #import? Do I have to write data to a file, or is there another way people usually do this?

How to reference filtered ng-repeat items from a controller in AngularJS

I have some JSON data that is rendered out via the ng-repeat directive, and the results are then filtered via some checkboxes/drop-downs, and some custom filter functions in my controller. I now want to add a function to my controller that is triggered by an 'ng-change' on some of the checkboxes, that can reference the current list of items in my 'ng-repeat'. I realise I can reference these values from a custom filter, for example $scope.filterProvider = function(item), but this function is then called for each and every item in the ng-repeat, which isn't what I want - I want the function to just be called each time a checkbox is checked/unchecked, and I need that function to be able to reference the items in my ng-repeat...does that make sense to anyone?! And if so, does anyone know how I can do that? Thanks :-)

Silverlight User Group of Switzerland (SLUGS)

Last Thursday, the Silverlight Firestarter event took place in Redmond, and was streamed live to a large audience worldwide (around 20’000 people). Approximately 30 if them were in Wallisellen near Zurich, in Microsoft Switzerland’s offices. This was not only a great occasion to learn more about the future of Silverlight and to see great demos, but also it was the very first meeting of the Silverlight User Group of Switzerland (SLUGS). Having 30 people for a first meeting was a great success, especially if we consider that it was REALLY cold that night, that it had snowed 20 cm the night before! We all had a good time, and 3 lucky winners went back home with a prize: One LG Optimus 7 Windows Phone and two copies of Silverlight 4 Unleashed. Congratulations to the winners! After the keynote (which went in a whirlwind, shortest 90 minutes ever!), we all had pizza and beverages generously sponsored by the Swiss DPE team, of which not less than 5 guys came to the event! Thanks to Stefano, Ronnie, Sascha, Big Mike and Ken for attending! We decided to have meetings every month. Stay tuned for announcements on when and where the events will take place. We are also in the process of creating various groups online where the attendees can find more information. For instance, I created a group on Flickr where the pictures taken at events will be published. The group is public, and the pictures of the first event are already online!
