  • Ruby on Rails / Yellow Maps For Ruby Plugin woes...

    - by Zach
    Okay I've read through the plugin comments and the docs as well and I have yet to come up with an answer as to how to do this. Here's my problem I want to use the :info_window_tabs and the :icon option, but I don't know what format to pass my information in. According to the documentation the following code should be correct. Here's my code: @mapper.overlay_init(GMarker.new([map.lat, map.lng], :title => map.name, :info_window_tabs => [ {:tab => "HTML", :content => @marker_html}, {:tab => "Attachments", :content => "stuff"}], :icon => { :image => "../images/icon.png" })) The readme and documentation can be viewed here. And the relevant ruby file that I am trying to interact with, including the author's comments, can be viewed here. I have tried the #rubyonrails channel in IRC as well as emailing the author directly and reporting an issue at GitHub. It really is just a question of syntax. Thanks!

  • Pass data from one form to another on a seperate page

    - by Micanio
    I am building a price/distance calculator with Google Maps API and am trying to pass the info from the calculator to a booking form on a separate page. My first form has 2 submit buttons - one to make the calculation, and one to submit the relevant data to the booking form. I'm stuck trying to make the 2nd button work. Once the API calculation has been made, I get 4 values - From, To, Cost, Distance. I am trying to pass the From, To and Cost values into my booking form by clicking the second button. But I can;t seem to get it to work. I've tried POST and GET but I think I may have been doing something wrong with both. Any help is appreciated. Code for API form: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;key=ABQIAAAAwCUxKrPl8_9WadET5dc4KxTqOwVK5HCwTKtW27PjzpqojXnJORQ2kUsdCksByD4hzcGXiOxvn6C4cw&sensor=true"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var geocoder = null; var location1 = null; var location2 = null; var gDir = null; var directions = null; var total = 0; function roundNumber(num, dec) { var result = Math.floor(num*Math.pow(10 ,dec))/Math.pow(10,dec); return result; } function from(form) { address1=form.start.options[form.start.selectedIndex].value form.address1.value=address1 form.address1.focus() } function to(form) { address2=form.end.options[form.end.selectedIndex].value form.address2.value=address2 form.address2.focus() } function initialize() { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(54.019066,-1.381531),9); map.setMapType(G_NORMAL_MAP); geocoder = new GClientGeocoder(); gDir = new GDirections(map); GEvent.addListener(gDir, "load", function() { var drivingDistanceMiles = gDir.getDistance().meters / 1609.344; var drivingDistanceKilometers = gDir.getDistance().meters / 1000; var miles = drivingDistanceMiles.toFixed(0); //var cost = (((miles - 1) * 1.9) + 3.6).toFixed(2); var meters = gDir.getDistance().meters.toFixed(1); if(miles < 70){ var cost = miles *1.75; } if(miles >70){ var cost = miles *1.2; } document.getElementById('from').innerHTML = '<strong>From: </strong>' + location1.address; document.getElementById('to').innerHTML = '<strong>To: </strong>' + location2.address; document.getElementById('cost').innerHTML = '<span class="fare"><strong>Estimated Taxi FARE:</strong>' + ' £' + cost.toFixed(2) + '</span>'; document.getElementById('miles').innerHTML = '<strong>Distance: </strong>' + miles + ' Miles'; }); } function showLocation() // start of possible values for address not recognized on google search // values for address1 { if (document.forms[0].address1.value == "heathrow" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "heathrow airport" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "Heathrow Airport" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "London Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address1.value =="london heathrow" ) { (document.forms[0].address1.value = "Heathrow Airport"); } if (document.forms[0].address2.value == "heathrow" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "heathrow airport" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "Heathrow Airport" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "London Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address2.value =="london heathrow" ) { (document.forms[0].address2.value = "Heathrow Airport"); } geocoder.getLocations(document.forms[0].address1.value + document.forms[0].uk.value || document.forms[0].start.value + document.forms[0].uk.value, function (response) { if (!response || response.Status.code != 200) { alert("Sorry, we were unable to find the first address"); } else { location1 = {lat: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[1], lon: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[0], address: response.Placemark[0].address}; geocoder.getLocations(document.forms[0].address2.value + document.forms[0].uk.value, function (response) { if (!response || response.Status.code != 200) { alert("Sorry, we were unable to find the second address"); } else { location2 = {lat: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[1], lon: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[0], address: response.Placemark[0].address}; gDir.load('from: ' + location1.address + ' to: ' + location2.address); } }); } }); } </script> <style> #quote { font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; } </style> </head> <body style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" onUnload="GUnload()" onLoad="initialize()"> <div id="sidebar"> <!--MAPS--> <div id="calc_top"></div> <div id="calc_body"> <div id="calc_inside"> <span style="font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold;">Get A Quote Now</span> <p class="disclaimer">Fares can be calculated using either Area, Exact Address or Postcode, when entering address please include both road name and area i.e. <em>Harrogate Road, Ripon</em>.   • Determining whether geographic point is within X meters of a state border (using shapefile for borde

    - by DanM
    So I'm writing a Java app, and I've got an ESRI Shapefile which contains the borders of all the U.S. states. What I need is to be able to determine whether any given lat/lon point is within a specified distance from ANY state border line - i.e., I will not be specifying a particular border line, just need to see whether the point is close to any of them. The solution does NOT have to be very precise at all; e.g. I don't need to be dealing with measuring perpendicular to the border, or whatever. Just checking to see if going X meters north, south, east or west would result in crossing a border would be more than sufficient. The solution DOES have to be computationally efficient, as I'll be performing a huge number of these calculations. I'm planning to use the GeoTools library (though if there's a simpler option, I'm all for it) with the Shapefile plugin. What I don't really understand is: Once I've got the shapefile loaded into memory, how do I check to see whether I'm near a border? Thanks! -Dan

  • Google Maps: openInfoWindowTabsHtml + GDownloadUrl (Ajax call) question

    - by Spiros
    I am facing the following problem. On an Google Map I want to add info windows with tabs, where content is loaded from an external file using the GDownloadUrl method. The code works about fine, but with two problems. a) The first time I click on a marker, nothing hapens. I need to click twice to get an info box. After that it works ok. b) When I close an info box and open it again, the tabs repeat themselves. Every time I reopen the info box, those tabs get repeated. So, if using the code below and open the info box 3 times, I get 6 tabs (Info, Photos, Info, Photos, Info, Photos). Any idea of what I am doing wrong here? I have also tried this with JQuery's $.get method, but the results are exactly the same. function createREMarker(lat,long,reID) { var reMarker = new GMarker(rePoint,iconRE); GEvent.addListener(reMarker, "click", function() { GDownloadUrl('testcontent.php?reID='+reID+'&what=info', function(data) { content1 = data; }); GDownloadUrl('testcontent.php?reID='+reID+'&what=photos', function(data) { content2 = data; }); tabs.push(new GInfoWindowTab('Info', '<div id="mapOverlayContent" style="width:375px; height:220px; overflow:auto;">'+content1+'</div>')); tabs.push(new GInfoWindowTab('Photos', '<div id="mapOverlayContent" style="width:375px; height:220px; overflow:auto;">'+content2+'</div>')); reMarker.openInfoWindowTabsHtml(tabs); }); return reMarker; };

  • MapKit custom annotations being added to map, but are not visible on the map

    - by culov
    I learned a lot from the screencast at http://icodeblog.com/2009/12/21/introduction-to-mapkit-in-iphone-os-3-0/ , and ive been trying to incorporate the way he creates a custom annotation into my iphone app. He is hardcoding annotations and adding them individually to the map, whereas i want to add them from my data source. So i have an array of objects with a lat and a lng (ive checked that the values are within range and ought to be appearing on the map) that i iterate through and do [mapView addAnnotation:truck] once this process is completed, i check the number of annotations on the map with [[mapView annotations] count] and its equal to the number it ought to be, so all the annotations are getting added onto the mapView, but for some reason I cant see any annotations in the simulator. I've compared my code with his in all the pertinent places many times, but nothing seems to stand out as being incorrect. Ive also reviewed my code for the last several hours trying to find a point where I do something wrong, but nothing is coming to mind. The images are named just as they are assigned in the custom AnnotationView, the loadAnnotation function is done properly, etc... i dont know what it could be. so i suppose if i could have the answer to one question it would be, what are possible causes for a mapView to contain several annotations, but to not show any on the map? Thanks

  • Calculating bounding grid coordinates to a user click on google maps/google earth

    - by user170304
    Hello, I have a requirement to calculate the centroid or geodesic midpoint of when a user clicks in between the lat/long grid crossing. The crossing forms a square in most parts of GE and sometimes elongated rectangles. This is due to the shape of the earth of course. I'm looking for a valid mathematical formula that would allow a user to click anywhere in between this grid and then an accurate function (in Javascript or server side code) that would take an assumed grid resolution (say 1km intervals for this discussion) and the input coordinates that should return a centroid coordinate within that graticule grid. To clarify please take a look at the attached image to my google group post: http://google-earth-api.googlegroups.com/web/Picture+5.png?gda=h5oFPz8AAAD315KpovipQeBwdfGpmW3ZhBc9PTADwYa-n193hZ6AItFmHuno63c7phcEXYVuRA6ccyFKn-rNKC-d1pM%5FIdV0&gsc=sz6bbAsAAABBKF7YXWYyc4GmXg-QruHj What I need to be able to do is if a user clicks anywhere in this grid square, I need to find the centroid or center point of that grid intersection/square or at least the bounding grid coordinates (that make the square). If we assume that the grid is UTM standard and has a max resolution of 1km (or make this a parameter), I need to detect the four other points nearby and then calculating the centroid is not as difficult. I welcome any feedback you all may have and appreciate it. I don't have a simple way of letting a user click anywhere on the grid and finding the grid bounding coordinates (making a square of 4 coordinates) or the centroid / midpoint of the graticule grid square necessary. One thought is to use assumptions as much as possible using a reference such as UTM coordinate reference. If I assume that the grid is X degrees wide, can we have a pure javascript function take any input coordinate and return for me the bounding graticule coordinates in Decimal Degrees? Another thought I had was to create the grid in a geo-spatial layer to take any input coordinate and return the nearest centroid of the graticule? Does this make sense? Thanks! Omar

  • android/rails multipart upload problem

    My problem is that I try to upload an image and some text values to an rails server, and the text values end up as files, insted of just param values. • Is it just me? I find LINQ to XML to be sort of cumbersome, compared to XPath.

    - by Cheeso
    I am a C# programmer, so I don't get to take advantage of the cool XML syntax in VB. Dim itemList1 = From item In rss.<rss>.<channel>.<item> _ Where item.<description>.Value.Contains("LINQ") Or _ item.<title>.Value.Contains("LINQ") Using C#, I find XPath to be easier to think about, easier to code, easier to understand, than performing a multi-nested select using LINQ to XML. Look at this syntax, it looks like Greek swearing: var waypoints = from waypoint in gpxDoc.Descendants(gpx + "wpt") select new { Latitude = waypoint.Attribute("lat").Value, Longitude = waypoint.Attribute("lon").Value, Elevation = waypoint.Element(gpx + "ele") != null ? waypoint.Element(gpx + "ele").Value : null, Name = waypoint.Element(gpx + "name") != null ? waypoint.Element(gpx + "name").Value : null, Dt = waypoint.Element(gpx + "cmt") != null ? waypoint.Element(gpx + "cmt").Value : null }; All the casting, the heavy syntax, the possibility for NullPointerExceptions. None of this happens with XPath. I like LINQ in general, and I use it on object collections and databases, but my first go-round with querying XML led me right back to XPath. Is it just me? Am I missing something? EDIT: someone voted to close this as "not a real question". But it is a real question, stated clearly. The question is: Am I misunderstanding something with LINQ to XML?

  • Lighting does not work with gluSphere

    - by badcodenotreat
    This is a simple issue that I'm somewhat ashamed to ask for help on. I'm making a simple call to gluSphere to render a sphere, however, it does not light properly even though I'm pretty sure I added the normals and lighting correctly. If, however, I add a texture, the model lights normally, except it seems to be always SMOOTH, and I cannot change it to flat. This is the lighting code in my init() function: gl.glLightfv( GL.GL_LIGHT0, GL.GL_AMBIENT , AMBIENT_LIGHT, 0 ); gl.glLightfv( GL.GL_LIGHT0, GL.GL_DIFFUSE , DIFFUSE_LIGHT, 0 ); gl.glLightfv( GL.GL_LIGHT0, GL.GL_POSITION, light_pos , 0 ); gl.glEnable ( GL.GL_LIGHT0 ); gl.glEnable ( GL.GL_LIGHTING ); this is my sphere code in my display() function: gl.glColor3d(1.0, 1.0, 1.0); glu.gluQuadricDrawStyle (quad, GLU.GLU_FILL); glu.gluQuadricNormals (quad, GLU.GLU_FLAT); glu.gluQuadricOrientation(quad, GLU.GLU_OUTSIDE); glu.gluSphere(quad, 1.0, lat, lon); Please advise.

  • Need help writing jQuery to loop through table and inject markers into google map?

    - by abemonkey
    I am new to jQuery. I've done some simple things with it but what I am attempting now is a over my head and I need some help. I am building a locator for all the firearms dealers in the US for a client. I am working within Drupal. I have a proximity search by zip code that works great. If you search by zip a list of paginated results shows up in an html table that can by paged through via ajax. I would like a map to be above this list with markers corresponding to the names and addresses being listed. I already have all the lat and long values in the table results. I want the script to update the markers and automatically zoom to fit the markers in the view when a user changes the sort order of the table or pages through the results. Also, I'd like to have a hover highlight effect over the rows of the table that simultaneously highlight the corresponding marker, and have a click on the table row equal a click on a marker that pops up a marker info window to be populated using jQuery to read the name and address fields of the table. Hope this all makes sense. I know I'm putting a lot out there, I'm not asking for someone to write the whole script, just wanted to give as many details as possible. Thanks for any help. I'm just lost when it comes to looping and moving data around. If you want to check out what I have so far on the project please visit: www.axtsweapons.com and login with the username: "test" and the password: "1234" and then visit this direct link: www.axtsweapons.com/ffllocator. For just a simple page that would be easy to manipulate and play with goto: http://www.axtsweapons.com/maptest.html Thanks!

  • How to output KML by GAE

Can I improve using other template engine or other framework than default? Is kmz compression a good idea in this case? Thanks in advance for any suggestion where or how to change the code.

My thought was this (obviously contrived): var awesome = function(count) { return function() { return this.size == parseInt(count); }; } So then I could do something along the lines of: db.collection.find(awesome(5)); However, I get this error: error: { "$err" : "error on invocation of $where function: JS Error: ReferenceError: count is not defined nofile_b:1" } So, it looks like Mongo isn't honoring scope, but I'm really not sure why. Any insight would be appreciated. To go into more depth of what I'd like to do: A collection of documents has lat/lng values, and I want to find all documents within a concave or convex polygon. I have the function written but would ideally be able to reuse the function, so I want to pass in an array of points composing my polygon to the function I execute on Mongo's end. I've looked at Mongo's geospatial querying and it currently on supports circle and box queries - I need something more complex.

  • Geolocation and jQuery - Can't post results using ajax

    - by etombaugh
    I'm currently working on a project to make a location-aware site. In essence, the user comes to the page, and their location is found using the HTML5 method and then using jQuery, the location is posted to a page which saves the location/address to a codeigniter session, but if they want to update their location, or change to a different location(IE they want to use their work address as the location instead of their present address), theres a jQuery colorbox that displays and lets them type in a custom address. Everything works flawlessly to get the initial location, but when I try and get the updated location saved, I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Object [object DOMWindow] has no method 'lat'" which then Google Chrome references as being an error not in jQuery, but in the file for Google Maps API. Any suggestions? jQuery('.inputsubmit').click(function() { //Takes values from user submitted fields and parses them into an address string var street = jQuery('.inputaddress').val(); var city = jQuery('.inputcity').val(); var state = jQuery('.inputstate').val(); var address = street +" "+ city +", " +state; geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var geocoderresult= geocoder.geocode({'address': address}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { var newlocation = results[0].geometry.location; //Posts coordinates and address string to a CodeIgniter function to update users session information jQuery.post("somepage", {location: newlocation, address: address},function(data) { alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); } else { alert("Geocoder failed due to: " + status); } }); }); I've tried everything I can think of to get the post to work. All of the code works up till the point, and I've commented out the post line and everything works correctly. This is one of our main website's features, to provide instant and quick results based off of location. Thanks!

  • leaflet/JSONobject. Marker onclick show only last record

    that my code <div id='map'></div> <div id="info"></div> [...] var markers1 = new L.MarkerClusterGroup( { showCoverageOnHover: true } ); $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "db.php", success: function (result) { var JSONobject = JSON.parse(result); var jnCount = JSONobject.length; for (var i = 0; i < jnCount; i++) { var marker = new L.Marker(new L.LatLng(JSONobject[i]["lat"],JSONobject[i]["lng"]),{ icon: myIcon1 }); var id = JSONobject[i]["id"]; var list = "<dl>" + "<dt><b>CITTA':</b> " + JSONobject[i]["citta_"] + "</dt>"; marker.on('click', function() { {document.getElementById('info').innerHTML = list;} }); markers1.addLayer(marker); } map.addLayer(markers1); } }); Marker onclick shows only the last record! I think problem is in loop but I don't understand how fix it. Any idea? Thanks Nicola

  • Does android maps support ground overlay?

    - by wmh1108
    I have a weather image I would like to use as an overlay in the google maps android api. I would like to achieve the same result that I get from using GroundOverlay in KML files, such as <GroundOverlay> <name>myimage</name> <Icon> <href>myimage.png</href> <viewBoundScale>0.75</viewBoundScale> </Icon> <LatLonBox> <north>75.6088</north> <south>5.0121</south> <east>182.2805</east> <west>120.6795</west> </LatLonBox> </GroundOverlay> The above will ensure that the 4 corners of my image stay anchored to the 4 lat/long points listed, regardless of scrolling, zooming etc.. Is there a way to accomplish this using the google api/maps provided for android?

  • Python Ephem / Datetime calculation

    the output should process the first date as "day" and second as "night". I've been playing with this for a few hours now and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? • GSM Cell Towers Location & Triangulation Algorithm (Similar to OpenCellID / Skyhook / Google's MyLocation)

    - by ranabra
    Hi all, assuming I have a Fingerprint DB of Cell towers. The data (including Long. & Lat. CellID, signal strength, etc) is achieved by 'wardriving', similar to OpenCellID.org. I would like to be able to get the location of the client mobile phone without GPS (similar to OpenCellID / Skyhook Wireless/ Google's 'MyLocation'), which sends me info on the Cell towers it "sees" at the moment: the Cell tower connected to, and another 6 neighboring cell towers (assuming GSM). I have read and Googled it for a long time and came across several effective theories, such as using SQL 2008 Spatial capabilities, or using an euclidean algorithm, or Markov Model. However, I am lacking a practical solution, preferably in C# or using SQL 2008 :) The location calculation will be done on the server and not on the client mobile phone. the phone's single job is to send via HTTP/GPRS, the tower it's connected to and other neighboring cell towers. Any input is appreciated, I have read so much and so far haven't really advanced much. Thanx

  • loading google maps drawing manager object

    - by psychok7
    So i am using Google Maps Drawing Manager to draw some polygons and i am saving the lat e long coordinates to my database. Now my question is, after i load that to my array, how can i rebuild the saved polygon back into my map? I can't seem to find a code to understand that. this is what i have now : window.initialize_2 = function () { var mapOptions = { center: new google.maps.LatLng(-34.397, 150.644), zoom: 8, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var map = maplimits; var drawingManager = new google.maps.drawing.DrawingManager({ drawingMode: google.maps.drawing.OverlayType.MARKER, drawingControl: true, drawingControlOptions: { position: google.maps.ControlPosition.TOP_CENTER, drawingModes: [ google.maps.drawing.OverlayType.POLYGON] }, markerOptions: { icon: 'images/beachflag.png' }, polygonOptions: { fillColor: '#ffff00', fillOpacity: 10, strokeWeight: 5, clickable: true, editable: true, zIndex: 1 } }); var coord_listener = google.maps.event.addListener(drawingManager, 'polygoncomplete', function (polygon) { var coordinates = (polygon.getPath().getArray()); console.log(coordinates); window.poly = polygon; }); //delete shape google.maps.event.addListener(drawingManager, 'overlaycomplete', function (e) { if (e.type != google.maps.drawing.OverlayType.MARKER) { // Switch back to non-drawing mode after drawing a shape. drawingManager.setDrawingMode(null); // Add an event listener that selects the newly-drawn shape when the user // mouses down on it. var newShape = e.overlay; newShape.type = e.type; google.maps.event.addListener(newShape, 'click', function () { setSelection(newShape); }); setSelection(newShape); } }); // Clear the current selection when the drawing mode is changed, or when the // map is clicked. google.maps.event.addListener(drawingManager, 'drawingmode_changed', clearSelection); google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', clearSelection); drawingManager.setMap(map); }

  • Add kilometers to a map point

    - by proveyourselfthom
    Good morning. I would like to know how do I add kilometers to a map point (latitude / longitude). For example: The city Jaraguá do Sul is in latitude -26.462049, longitude -49.059448. I want to add 100 kilometers up, down, and on the sides. I want to do a square and get the new points. How do I do that? I tried it: <?php $distance = 100; $earthRadius = 6371; $lat1 = -26.4853239150483; $lon1 = -49.075927734375; $bearing = 0; $lat2 = asin(sin($lat1) * cos($distance / $earthRadius) + cos($lat1) * sin($distance / $earthRadius) * cos($bearing)); $lon2 = $lon1 + atan2(sin($bearing) * sin($distance / $earthRadius) * cos($lat1), cos($distance / $earthRadius) - sin($lat1) * sin($lat2)); echo 'LAT: ' . $lat2 . '<br >'; echo 'LNG: ' . $lon2; ?> But it's returning wrong cordinates. Thank you! Thank you very much.

  • Setting acquired location to a text view: How to maintain?

    - by Mark
    Hi, I have built an app for the Motorola Droid which should automatically update a server with the phone's location. After the user performs a particular task on the main activity screen, an alarm is set to update the user's location periodically, using a service. The alarm is explicitly stopped when the user completes another task. Thing is, I have set up a location manager within the main activity's onCreate() method which is supposed to place the first acquired lat/long into two textview fields. Even though the manifest is set up for acquiring coarse and fine coords and I'm using requestLocationUpdates (String provider, long minTime, float minDistance, LocationListener listener), with minTime and minDistance set to zero, I'm not seeing the coords coming up on the screen. With that, I'm not recording any locations on the server. When I seed the textviews with sample coords, they are being recorded fine on the server. I am not at a computer that can run the IDE, so don't currently have the code, but am desperate for some help on this. One other thing is that the main activity screen calls a photography app before the user manually clicks "send data". I'm suspicious that I may need to override the main activity's onResume() method to do this location acquisition. Please help, thanks. Mark.

  • Simplification / optimization of GPS track

    - by GreyCat
    I've got a GPS track, produces by gpxlogger(1) (supplied as a client for gpsd). GPS receiver updates its coordinates every 1 second, gpxlogger's logic is very simple, it writes down location (lat, lon, ele) and a timestamp (time) received from GPS every n seconds (n = 3 in my case). After writing down a several hours worth of track, gpxlogger saves several megabyte long GPX file that includes several thousands of points. Afterwards, I try to plot this track on a map and use it with OpenLayers. It works, but several thousands of points make using the map a sloppy and slow experience. I understand that having several thousands of points of suboptimal. There are myriads of points that can be deleted without losing almost anything: when there are several points making up roughly the straight line and we're moving with the same constant speed between them, we can just leave the first and the last point and throw anything else. I thought of using gpsbabel for such track simplification / optimization job, but, alas, it's simplification filter works only with routes, i.e. analyzing only geometrical shape of path, without timestamps (i.e. not checking that the speed was roughly constant). Is there some ready-made utility / library / algorithm available to optimize tracks? Or may be I'm missing some clever option with gpsbabel?

  • Address String Split in javscript

    - by Arasoi
    Ok folks I have bombed around for a few days trying to find a good solution for this one. What I have is two possible address formats. 28 Main St Somecity, NY 12345-6789 or Main St Somecity, Ny 12345-6789 What I need to do Is split both strings down into an array structured as such address[0] = HousNumber address[1] = Street address[2] = City address[3] = State address[4] = ZipCode My major problem is how to account for the lack of a house number. with out having the whole array shift the data up one. address[0] = Street address[1] = City address[2] = State address[3] = ZipCode [Edit] For those that are wondering this is what i am doing atm . (cleaner version) place = response.Placemark[0]; point = new GLatLng(place.Point.coordinates[1],place.Point.coordinates[0]); FCmap.setCenter(point,12); var a = place.address.split(','); var e = a[2].split(" "); var x = a[0].split(" "); var hn = x.filter(function(item,index){ return index == 0; }); var st = x.filter(function(item,index){ return index != 0; }); var street = ''; st.each(function(item,index){street += item + ' ';}); results[0] = new Hash({ FullAddie: place.address, HouseNum: hn[0], Dir: '', Street: street, City: a[1], State: e[1], ZipCode: e[2], GPoint: new GMarker(point), Lat: place.Point.coordinates[1], Lng: place.Point.coordinates[0] }); // End Address Splitting
