Hi All,
I am using Mac 10.6,
I want to create a dummy server in the my system where i can upload the files from other machines using my ip address.
What are the steps to be followed?
Thanks.
I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows.
I have tried when select a file (e.g. a ppt file on desktop), then I press Delete key on keyboard. The file is not deleted (seems no effect). How to delete a file from keyboard?
Thanks in advance.
I'm dying at Mac OSX 10.5.8 + Firefox finding how to go to the beginning of the line in Google Docs
I was cursed with too little intelligence to use this glorified OS. Would any one please guide me in that so dead-simple stuff?

hi,
I've installed gcc 4.0 on mac from Xtools dmg.
If I go to the directory /usr/bin and I call ./gcc-4.0 it works.
I would like to make it work from any directory by just typing "gcc".
How can I make it ?
thanks

I am wondering how to create a shortcut for applications or documents on desktop? Just like "show on desktop" feature on Windows?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using mail from Mac OS terminal to send the results of a database query to me via email. Most of the time it works, but sometimes there is a long delay before the mail arrives (often when another similar script is run). It looks like there is some kind of send queue, but I can't find any docs mentioning this. Is there something I need to do to flush mail from the terminal?
I installed gcc 4.0 on Mac OS X Leopard. I linked gcc-4.0 to gcc.
Then I ran gcc to compile a library but I got the following error:
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
In order to create some special routes for debugging I used the following command on my linux server:
sudo route add -net 10.78.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 gw 10.101.1.1
which works, and sets up the routes I need. But when I run the same command on my Mac I get:
route: bad address: netmask
I'm guessing that the version of route that is included in OS X requires a different format but I'm at a loss to figure it out.
Hi,
is there something similar to Altiris (now Symatec) Software Virtualization Suite for Mac OS X?
Or just a possibility to "revert" ALL changes a app/installer made to the filesystem?
Thanks
I'm coming from a PC, loaded with a Core 2 Quad CPU and 8GB of DDR2 RAM. I was running Premiere CS3.
I'm new to Mac so I'm not sure if this will help performance: Will increasing my 21.5" Core 2 Duo iMac's memory from 4GB (DDR3) to 8GB improve performance of Premiere CS4 significantly? I am not impressed with Premiere as it is now. The iMac is the newest one as of this post.
A Mac Zoom utility which magnifies a selectable portion of the screen and can be minimized.
If it cannot be minimized then the zoomed portion of the screen should be set as it is, so that i can do other work and switch back to it
I have a Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS that I am running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) vpn - build 13064 on it and for the life of me I can not find a way to assign ip's based on Mac address. Basically I have a few laptops and Windows really has no decent way to have separate profiles for each network.
I have defined my own custom vim file type with highlighting etc. I would like to open it using the terminal based vim when I double click on it. I am using mac os x. Any pointers on how to start on this?
Using screen on Mac OS X, I want to know how to go to the beginning/end of the line.
Usually I use ^ + A / ^ + E on terminal , but that doesn't work for screen.
I'm doing some research on old kernels and running the following on 2.6.7 or 2.6.8 gives a resource busy error. But on 2.6.28 the command works as expected. How would I determine which kernel allowed this command to change the mac address on the fly? ip link set dev addr
You can see some screenshots below. Thank you!
I ran across a situation at work the other day where we were trying to move a pile of .url files on a Windows XP machine to bookmarks under Firefox on Mac OS X 10.5.8. It proved very frustrating, as we didn't have access to the source machine anymore (where we could have exported the bookmarks properly).
Does anyone have a solution for that one?
I have some external hard drives that are Mac OS Extended (Journaled) formatted. What software can you recommend for working with those drives when under Windows? Do you have any experience with this?
Would be best if the software is free, but it doesn't have to be.
Hope someone can help!
I am looking for a program/app that will show me the current data rate that is being written and/or read from the hard drive in real time, for the Mac.
I want to see the rate at which the hard drive is reading/writing when I'm rendering video files in After Effects and Final Cut.
Is there a program to do such a task??
