• Logon script for a mixed operating system environment

  Hi Friends, I have a Active Directory controller on a Windows 2003 server. My users use Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Novell Operating system on client machines. I need to create a login script which is interoperable on all the client operating systems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on how to accomplish this. I was searching for a script which when runs, detects the target OS type and then run the related script to that OS. Any Ideas?

• Mixed alignment with Java Swing's GroupLayout

  I'm trying to build a GUI window in my application. What I'm trying to do is have a window, with a few buttons at the top, and a large text area. Something like this: +--------------------------------------------------+ | [button1] [button2] [button3] | | +----------------------------------------------+ | | | text area | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | +----------------------------------------------+ | +--------------------------------------------------+ I'm almost there, using GroupLayout: layout.setHorizontalGroup( layout.createParallelGroup() .addGroup(layout.createSequentialGroup() .addComponent(button1) .addComponent(button2)) .addComponent(closeWindow)) .addComponent(textarea1) ); layout.setVerticalGroup( layout.createSequentialGroup() .addGroup(layout.createParallelGroup() .addComponent(button1) .addComponent(button2) .addComponent(button3)) .addComponent(textarea) ); The problem is that this ends up with button3 aligned to the left, with the other two. I can't seem to figure out how I can specify the alignment on just that one button. I can do GroupLayout.Alignment.TRAILING on the entire button bar, but that hits all 3 buttons, which is also not quite right. So what's the correct approach? Since the alignment only applies for Parallel Groups, I don't think having a HorizontalGroup with two Sequential Groups in it will help? What am I missing?

• ListView in ArrayAdapter order get's mixed up when scrolling

  Hi, I have a ListView in a custom ArrayAdapter that displays an icon ImageView and a TextView in each row. When I make the list long enough to let you scroll through it, the order starts out right, but when I start to scroll down, some of the earlier entries start re-appearing. If I scroll back up, the old order changes. Doing this repeatedly eventually causes the entire list order to be seemingly random. So scrolling the list is either causing the child order to change, or the drawing is not refreshing correctly. What could cause something like this to happen? I need the order the items are displayed to the user to be the same order they are added to the ArrayList, or at LEAST to remain in one static order. If I need to provide more detailed information, please let me know. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

• Redirect print in Python: val = print(arg) to output mixed iterable to file

  So lets say I have an incredibly nested iterable of lists/dictionaries. I would like to print them to a file as easily as possible. Why can't I just redirect print to a file? val = print(arg) gets a SyntaxError. Is there a way to access stdinput? And why does print take forever with massive strings? Bad programming on my side for outputting massive strings, but quick debugging--and isn't that leveraging the strength of an interactive prompt? There's probably also an easier way than my gripe. Has the hive-mind an answer?

• Mixed static and dynamic link on Mac OS

  I want to use gcc to produce a shared library, but i want to link some other libraries it depends on statically. Now to produce the "standard" dynamically linked output file i use gcc -dynamiclib *.o -lfoo -lbar -o outfile which would be gcc -shared *.o -lfoo -lbar -o outfile on for a binutils ld on a linux system. Now if i want libfoo and libbar to be linked statically, I can name the static libraries directly gcc -dynamiclib *.o /usr/lib/libfoo.a /usr/lib/libbar.a -o outfile however, that way i have to look for the library files myself. GNU binutils ld supports this: gcc -shared *.o -l:libfoo.a -l:libbar.a -o outfile but apple's ld doesnt. Is there a way to make apple's ld look for the static libraries himself? If not, is there another way that would avoid naming the exact location of the archives, e.g. producing an intermediate output file out of the object files requiring libfoo and libbar with the -static switch and linking that file together with the remaining objectfiles to create the dynamic object?

• Sort Grid Columns of mixed type in EXTJS Grid

  Hello, I want to sort the extjs columns, I have the column type as float and from the server side i am getting values which can contain "-" value , now what happens the grid is displaying me the NaN value instead of - and the sort is not working anymore. My requirement is to create a custom sort which can sort first based on number and then sort based on string. Thanks to suggest as renderer also not works for me. However , some $#@@!@@ websites still use BOTH <script>...</script> and <script.../> So what happens is this : given <script..../> <div> Some Text </div> <script> scripting stuff </script> , neko parses all the above line as a script , so I get <script..../> &lt div &gt Some Text &lt/div &gt &lt script &gt scripting stuff </script> , And then I lose all the inside content :( Any advice?

Most of the formats in the variable are shown above- there are a couple of very rare others too. The reason why there are multiple formats is that the data were pulled together from various websites that each used different formats. I have tried using straightforward conversions e.g. strftime(mydf$date,"%d/%m/%Y") but these sorts of conversion will not work if there are multiple formats. I don't want to resort to multiple gsub type editing. I was wondering if I am missing a more simple solution?   I'm working on a web application. One of my co-workers has written some asp.net forms pages. The page classes all inherit from BasePageClass, which of course inherits from the Page class. I wish to add some MVC controllers that I've been told need to use the same logic implemented in the BasePageClass. Ordinarily, I would want to inherit the functions in the BasePageClass in the controller classes, but this breaks the inheritance heirarchy. What is the best practice for solving this problem?

• Embeddable unit testing framework for mixed Windows app

  I want to test portions of a very complex app which includes both a major native Windows component and a substantial WPF GUI. Due to complexities I can't detail, it is impossible to run the native portion independently nor can I isolate the areas I want to test (spare me the lectures, we're talking a huge legacy code base and we do have refactoring plans). I'm looking for a unit test kit I can invoke on the native side but must be able to run with the app launched with the managed portion initialised. That seems to rule out the run executable feature of the cfix Windows unit test kit. I really like their philosophy, like WinUnit, of using DLL compilation as a way to add the reflective capabilities missing in C++ and gain a more NUnit-like experience. Ideally, I want something like WinUnit running within the application code and generating an HTML report. I'm trying to introduce more TDD and having things as lean as possible is important.

  Given an instance of a class, we can obviously return its name: trait MixedInClassDiscovery { val className = this.getClass.getName } class AClass extends MixedInClassDiscovery { ... this.className // returns "AClass" ... } But this way uses reflection, once for every instance of AClass. Can the same be done once for every class, instead? One solution which comes to mind is to mix it into companion objects instead of classes themselves.

• switch statemt functioning improperly and giving error when i put break;

  The following is the code i used in a program - over here the month variable is an integer switch(month) { case 1: case 3: case 5: case 7: case 8: case 10: case 12: return 31; break; case 2: return 28; break; case 4: case 6: case 9: case 11: return 30; break; default: System.out.println("Invalid month."); return 0; } surprisingly, when i use the above switch construct.. it gives an error saying.. code unreachable for statements after each break statement Then i removed all the break statements, and the new code looks like this --- switch(month) { case 1: case 3: case 5: case 7: case 8: case 10: case 12: return 31; case 2: return 28; case 4: case 6: case 9: case 11: return 30; default: System.out.println("Invalid month."); return 0; } Now.. after removing the break statements .. the code worked perfectly well.. My question is... in the switch construct.. it is mandatory to use break.. or else the control flow continued.. and all the conditions are tested and executed!! right??? So why in the world is the previous ** syntactically Right** version giving an error.. and the modified syntactically incorrect version running perfectly well.. Any explanation.. anyone!!

  Hi, If I define these variables: double x0, xn, h; int n; and I have this mathematical expression: h = (xn - x0)/n; Is it necessary that I cast n into double prior doing the division for maximum accuracy like in h = (xn - x0)/ (double) n; I wrote a program to check the above but both expressions give the same answers. I understand that C will promote the integer to double type as variables xn and x0 are of type double but strangely enough in a book, the second expression with casting was emphasized.   Hi All, I am going through a final refinement posted by the client, which needs me to do a case-insesitive query. I will basically walk through how this simple program works. First of all, in my Java class, I did a fairly simple webpage parsing: title=(String)results.get("title"); doc = docBuilder.parse("http://" + server + ":" + port + "/exist/rest/db/wb/xql/media_lookup.xql?" + "&title=" + title); This Java statement references an XQuery file "media_lookup.xql" which is stored on localhost, and the only parameter we are passing is the string "title". Secondly, let's take at look at that XQuery file: $title := request:get-parameter('title',""), $mediaNodes := doc('/db/wb/portfolio/media_data.xml'), $query := $mediaNodes//media[contains(title,$title)], Then it will evaluate that query. This XQuery will get the "title" parameter that are passes from our Java class, and query the "media_data" xml file stored in the database, which contains a bunch of media nodes with a 'title' element node. As you may expect, this simple query will just match those media nodes whose 'title' element contains a substring of what the value of string 'title' is. So if our 'title' is "Chi", it will return media nodes whose title may be "Chicago" or "Chicken". The refinment request posted by the client is that there should be NO case-sensitivity. The very intuitive way is to modify the XQuery statement by using a lower-case funtion in it, like: $query := $mediaNodes//media[contains(lower-case(title/text(),lower-case($title))], However, the question comes: this modified query will run my machine into memory overflow. Since my "media_data.xml" is quite huge and contains thouands of millions of media nodes, I assume the lower-case() function will run on each of the entries, thus causing the machine to crash. I've talked with some experienced XQuery programmer, and they think I should use an index to solve this problem, and I will definitely research into that. But before that, I am just posting this problem here to get other ideas or any suggestions, do you think any other way may help? for example, could I tweak the Java parse statement to realize the case-insensitivity? Since I think I saw some people did some string concatination by using "contains." in Java before passing it to the server. Any idea or help is welcomed, thanks in advance.

  Although it was not supported on older versions, now as of EECS 2.0.6, an Exalogic rack can be configured in a mixed-mode: half virtual and half physical Linux: Flexibility to have physical and virtual environments on same rack. For example, production on physical and test/dev on virtual. Exalogic Control manages the virtual compute nodes on the rack. Physical compute nodes are managed manually (including PKeys). Option to change full physical to hybrid and hybrid to full virtual rack. User has an option to choose either the top or bottom nodes for physical or virtual deployment. For further information about how the compute nodes can be split up on the rack (into bottom or top half) to run either Oracle Virtual Server (OVS "hypervisor") or Oracle Linux, please take a look at MOS Note 1536945.1. Note: Solaris is not yet supported in the mixed configuration.

• System fan connection on Mini-ITX server case and motherboard

  The case: Newegg listing for Chenbro ES34169-BK-120 The motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-D525TUD (Newegg has it as well but I can't post more than one link due to being a new user) As far as the question, the system fan I have no idea how to get these to connect to the motherboard. There are two connectors which then go to extension fan cables. So when you connect these, it should be good, but the extension cables are two connectors that go to the system fans and a female molex connector (if you click the Chenbro listing, look at the 6th picture and you'll see the two connections being made and the molex connector just kind of hanging out in the case). Is there a piece I'm missing to get it to connect to the 3 pin sys_fan section of the board? Thanks,

• UPS vs Solar Power in case of power failure for a server [on hold]

  I am looking for a low power, low end pc able to run 24/7 without overheating and a way to support it in case of power failure. Power failures can be up to 72 hours. The pc dosen't need a monitor or keyboard. A modem must also be protected in case of power failure. When i say low end, i don't mean crap. The cpu needs to be x86 and have at least 1k cpu in this chart: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/index.php What's the best way to do this? EDIT: more info. I need to run a home server. The server will perform light tasks mainly. A x86 cpu sadly is the only route for my use. I want to be able to run the server and the router/modem in case of power failure. Now, regarding how long the power will fail: 1) 1 hours is OK for most situations. (say 90%) 2) 3 hours is OK (say 98%) 3) 6 hours is more thank OK. (say 99.5%) 4) On extreme cases the power might fail days. I believe this is very unlikely to happen. More is great but, really, how ofter power will fail more than 3 hours? I believe once every year at best. Well, that's too rare to care about. Given the above, I am looking for a cost effective way to archive 1-3 hour power or 6 hour if possible. Solutions: You guys give me great ideas. 1) Power generator: no good as power will fail for 10 seconds before returning. Also I read online, "clean" power generators cost 1.5k+, so it's out of budged. Non clean generator might damage electronics, right? 2) Solar power: i don't know for sure about this. Sounds like a great idea, too good to be true, honestly. For only 200$ i get 100+w? What are the drawbacks here? 3) UPS: This seems to be the best. The only problem is the cost. Cost < 200$ = great 400$ = budged limit

  The following HTTP request results in a "See the error log for more details; Invalid Value Found For Domain" error: GET / HTTP/1.0 Host: www.MyWebsite.com If I make the hostname all lowercase, however, it works just fine. How can I make Apache case insensitive? Here's my httpd.conf file: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName mywebsite.com ServerAlias www.mywebsite.com ... </VirtualHost> I tried adding ServerAlias www.MyWebsite.com to that but that didn't help. And in any event, it seems like that's a poor approach anyway since the case can be mixed up in a ton of different ways and trying to account for all of them would result in a huge *.conf file. Any ideas? Thanks!
