I have a nice list, which looks like this: tmp = NULL t = NULL tmp$resultitem$count = "1057230" tmp$resultitem$status = "Ok" tmp$resultitem$menu = "PubMed" tmp$resultitem$dbname = "pubmed" t$resultitem$count = "305215" t$resultitem$status = "Ok" t$resultitem$menu = "PMC" t$resultitem$dbname = "pmc" tmp = c(tmp, t) t = NULL t$resultitem$count = "1" t$resultitem$status = "Ok" t$resultitem$menu = "Journals" t$resultitem$dbname = "journals" tmp = c(tmp, t) Which produces: str(tmp) List of 3 $ resultitem:List of 4 ..$ count : chr "1057230" ..$ status: chr "Ok" ..$ menu : chr "PubMed" ..$ dbname: chr "pubmed" $ resultitem:List of 4 ..$ count : chr "305215" ..$ status: chr "Ok" ..$ menu : chr "PMC" ..$ dbname: chr "pmc" $ resultitem:List of 4 ..$ count : chr "1" ..$ status: chr "Ok" ..$ menu : chr "Journals" ..$ dbname: chr "journals" Now I want to search through the elements of each "resultitem". I want to know the "dbname" for every database, that has less then 10 "count" (example). In this case it is very easy, as this list only has 3 elements, but the real list is a little bit longer. This could be simply done with a for loop. But is there a way to do this with some other function of R (like rapply)? My problem with those apply functions is, that they only look at one element. If I do a grep to get all "dbname" elements, I can not get the count of each element. rapply(tmp, function(x) paste("Content: ", x))[grep("dbname", names(rapply(tmp, c)))] Does someone has a better idea than a for loop?   • PHP file outside doc root needs files outside and inside the document root

    I have a library of classes, all interrelated. Some files are inside the document root and some are outside using the <Directory> and Alias features in httpd.conf Assuming I have 3 files: webroot.php (Inside the document root) alias_directory.php (Inside a folder outside the doc root) alias_directory2.php (Inside a **different** folder outside the doc root) If alias_directory2.php needs both webroot.php and alias_directory.php, This does not work. (Remember alias_directory.php and alias_directory2.php are not in the same locations) require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/webroot.php'; //(ok) require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/alias_directory.php'; //(not ok) This does not work because alias_directory.php is not in the doc root. Similarly require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/webroot.php'; //(ok) require_once dirname(__FILE__).'/alias_directory.php'; //(not ok) The problem here is that dirname(__FILE__) will return the path for alias_directory2.php not alias_directory.php. This works: require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/webroot.php'; //(ok) require_once '/full/path/to/directory/alias_directory.php'; //(ok) But is very nasty and is a maintenance nightmare if I decide to move my library to another location. How do I solve this problem, is seems that I need a way to resolve an Alias folder properly.

    I'm in the brainstorming phase to develop a GPS car tracking system requested by a customer. I myself know the directions to build some GPS system to mobile phones and etc. But sincerely I don't know how to start in that project. That is the scenario: 1) The cars will get a device with a SIM CARD that will emit GPS signals. 2) My customer will in any place (home, work, etc) with a web connection will see in the map where the car is located. For me, I have not problems at get the GPS data, convert to usable info and show the position in some map system (like Google Maps or MS Bing Maps, by example). My problem is, how I do to retrieve that "GPS Signal" from device in the car? I will need some kind of "Receiver Device" connected to a web server machine in order to my application to consume that data? Or "automagically" my sodtware will receive the info from a third-party web-service? Or what? I thank for any help!

Looking at the current 3d games, in some they create near to hundreds of characters, what lead me to think that there are some good 3d character/model creator. To narrow the sample, the game will have characters like the game "Grand Chase". There are some good (and easy) character model creator for to use in XNA development? Free is better, of course, but I will get payed versions too. EDIT: Another question is about the movements of the characters. The movements like walk, jump, sit, etc are "created" by the "character creator tool" or by the game?

PS: I tested the (2) and really is the Client Profile with another name... :(

The case is, now my friend lost the access to program (something that the developers say "locked to machine" so when moved to another pc, he lost the access to program and data.     Frequently I'm brainstormed with programming ideas that I would like to directly code. More or less like "Wow, that algorithm will rock! I need to write it now!". For this kind of "impulse" to write, I use http://www.jarte.com/ that is a cool portable text editor. If I'm near a cybecafe or a friend computer, I just plug the usb pen drive and start to write... So, I would like: 1) a portable minimalist IDE 2) with minimal OS requirement (ie.: I want run from XP, Vista, etc...) 3) any modern language (I can learn a new language if needed. I just want write/test the algoritm) 4) Syntax Highlight/intellisense is good, but not required 5) Free Is there something like this?

  • MySQL forgot about automatically creating an index for a foreign key?

    After running the following SQL statements, you will see that, MySQL has automatically created the non-unique index question_tag_tag_id_tag_id on the tag_id column for me after the first ALTER TABLE statement has run. But after the second ALTER TABLE statement has run, I think MySQL should also automatically create another non-unique index question_tag_question_id_question_id on the question_id column for me. But as you can see from the SHOW INDEXES statement output, it's not there. Why does MySQL forget about the second ALTER TABLE statement? By the way, since I have already created a unique index question_id_tag_id_idx used by both question_id and tag_id columns.   • Are you using Virtual Machine as your primary development enviroment?

    Recently I have purchased a notebook that cames with Windows Home Basic (that don't have with ASP.Net/IIS. I thought in upgrade the Windows version to one with ASP.Net/IIS, but I thought in another possibility: I have an Hard Disk Case with a 360Gb HD. I thought in create a virtual machine with Windows Ultimate (installing too ASP.Net, IIS and Visual Studio 2008) in this HD Case, then I can access my "development enviroment" in any computer that I will work on (my desktop machine and my notebook). But I was worried about the performance. I don't have experience working in Virtual Machines (I use it just to quick compatibility tests)... Are you using Virtual Machine as your primary development enviroment? What your finds? ==================== Thanks for your answers! It really did help me!     After reading about the problem of passing empty std::string objects between DLLs and EXEs, I am concerned about the configure options used to build my gcc / libstdc++. More specific I want to know if --enable-fully-dynamic-string was used during ./configure. I'm using MinGW 4.4.0 on Windows XP. Does anybody know the configuration used to build this release? Is there a general way to find this information for any installation of GNU gcc? The gcc manual gives me no hint on this topic. Thanks for your input!

My e-mail gets delivered ok to almost every other server I send mail to except for one (smtp.chello.nl which bounces my email). In my /var/log/mail.err I found the below error.     Is there a possibility to make Postfix stop trying (for a period of time) to send emails to a domain from which it received a deferred response? Currently my Postfix goes through each address in the queue. Please see the below example. At 09:48:32 the status=deferred appears.
