  • Adding controls dynamically not XHTML formatted

    Hi - I'm adding generic html controls to repeater items at "onitemdatabound". It works absolutely fine but just wondering (or hoping) if there's any way of getting those controls to render on the page in XHTML format? It's just an annoyance really - my markup is beautifully clean and correctly indented until the repeater! Using .net 3.5, and C#. Thanks in advance, Rob

  • Website renders two scroll bars, is it the CSS, xhtml, or some jquery plugin?

    I've come to notice a bug on my website, I see that there's two scroll bars when the window is re-sized from a full sized window (my desktop's 1280x900). This issue is untraceable with Firebug and it shows up on all browsers. I'm using a JQuery UI script on the page as well but I'm not sure if that's what's doing this. What's a good way to go about getting rid of this? Or has anyone ever encountered having two scroll bars on the page? BTW: The in-page scroll bar is actually above the footer, if that helps.

    Is there a way to set BIRT to output a report as XHTML (1.0 Transitional would be fine) instead of HTML? I did a few tests and there are some elements that are not valid:head does not include a title, html must have a namespace (xmlns) attribute Is this functionality supported at all by BIRT?

    i got an image behind my google adsense, the css code of that background image is: background: transparent url("http://i53.tinypic.com/2lu8jgg.jpg") repeat-x left bottom; padding-bottom:10px; padding-top:0px; height: 352px; padding-bottom:5 0px; padding-left:50px; padding-right:50px; padding-top:280px; width: 350px; this works fine in mozilla firefox, but when i open my website in google chrome browser the background image is crapped, it is spread in the entire background, whereas it works fine in mozilla and rock-melt, whats the actual problem my website is: http://mbas.in/

  • html/css vs CMS

    I am currently a CS student and an aspiring programmer/web developer. I am wondering whether it is worth taking the time to master html and css to make websites when these CMS services/wysiwyg editors (wordpress, squarespace) seem to be becoming more and more functional. Does anyone think these publishing services might eventually make the need to design websites from raw code unnecessary? If not, please explain why. If designing a website eventually becomes as simple as using Photoshop I would much rather invest my time in programming languages.

    I have created a website, www.unionfamilies.com. I have a header, a main section consisting of two columns, and a footer. Currently, I have specified heights for header, main, footer, etc. I would like to make the site so the header stays on top, the columns adjust to match the height of the longest column, and the footer stays at the bottom. When I have 7000000.00, I would like it displayed as 7 000 000.00 I know I could write a backend (php, perl...) function or a javascript function that could return the formatted number but... The numbers that I want to format are into a cell. I would like to have something like <td class="myformat">7000000.00</td> or <td><span class="myformat">7000000.00<span></td>

I prefer to use my text editor and not having to learn (or pay, for that matter) a new tool like Axure. What would be, to your mind, the best practices?     I just lost time trying to hide a CSS border in a third-party control, so it’s worth a quick post to help others avoid similar frustration. I could plainly see in the Internet Explorer 8 developer tool that an unwanted border in the Telerik RadRotator   was coming from the style classes named .RadRotator_Web20 and .rrClipRegion.   • Issue with CSS font color in Webkit in Lion (#444 looks darker than #333)

    I have a strange issue with Safari and Chrome Mac (19.0.1084.54) in OS X Lion. Here it is, very simply put: When I display it in a Webkit browser, text set in Helvetica Neue and color Hex #444 looks a little bolder, and therefore darker, than the same text with an Hex color value of #333. This does not happen at all in Snow Leopard with the exact same browsers (same version). Happens on any website I tried, so I know it's not something related to the CSS of my website. I tried to change it live through the Inspector and it really shows up.   • Changing CSS classes when different strings are displayed in a text element with jQuery

    I'm just wondering if this method would be possible using jQuery HTML and PHP. Basically I have a filtering system were products are listed, some have different attribute values such as Hatchback for example. The text element that holds these PHP echo's also have a css class that implements an icon. I'm just wondering can I alter class's that are added to a html element just by looking at the string? So for example if the string displays "Pick-up" then jQuery alters the class and adds the one associated with the "Pick-up" string?   • JS and CSS caching issue: possibly .htaccess related

    I've been using the HTML5 Boilerplate for some web projects for a while now and have noticed the following issue cropping up on some sites. My CSS and JS files, when loaded by the browser, are being renamed to things like: ce.52b8fd529e8142bdb6c4f9e7f55aaec0.modernizr-1,o7,omin,l.js …in the case of modernizr-1.7.min.js The pattern always seems to add ce. or cc. in front of the filename. I'm not sure what's causing this, and it's frustrating since when I make updates to those files, the same old cached file is being loaded. I have to explicitly call modernizr-1.7.min.js?v=2 or something similar to get it to re-cache. I'd like to scrap it altogether but it still happens even when .htaccess is empty. Any ideas? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    I'm creating a web-based report. It will be a single column, no menu. Just titles, graphs, tables. Maybe a header and a footer. I've scoured the internet for a free, open source (or just 'free') CSS 'template' that will turn my grotty looking HTML page in to a nicely colored page with good fonts. Something simple I can just drop in. Is there such a thing? My issue is that I'm not a designer, I just want to pop something in and have it work and look good.

  • protecting css selectors on large website

    I have content that appears within a corporate website inside an iframe. Several departments contribute their own CSS files to manage the overall UI and design. My problem is that they may use selectors for elements like td (for instance), without notice. Of course that will affect my own content in the frame unless I add a class to every td. I'm just using td as an example: the generic style for any element could change without notice. Is there any method/convention/practice I can use to protect my own styling?

  • CSS tags/media queries for chrome on iPhone [migrated]

    So Chrome is here for iOS.. Hoorah! However now due to the different screen layout (no footer toolbar) it messes with the ability to make a perfect layout for iphone web pages. I have a site for my company that resided perfectly inside an iphone screen, no scrolling required, it looked like an app. However now that chrome is here (and wildly popular) with its different screen layout, sites that were sized for iphone safari now look odd. Is there, or will there be, ways to isolate out chrome from safari and give them different CSS?
