  • Restricting access to sites

    I'm having some problems configuring my local proxy server so that it would restrict access to certain websites. The proxy server I'm using is Squid; I edited its configuration file found in /etc/squid/squid.conf to include the following: acl wikipedia dstdomain .wikipedia.org http_access deny wikipedia I tried to redirect elinks to use Squid. According to Squid's config file, it listens to port 3128, so in /etc/elinks/elinks.conf I added the following: set protocol.http.proxy.host = "localhost:3128" I also restarted Squid with sudo /etc/init.d/squid restart, but I can still access the banned websites using Elinks. What did I do wrong?

How can I prevent people from looking at a listing of files in parent directory? http://oi56.tinypic.com/sc739e.jpg Also, is it possible for people to obtain a list of all the files in the root directory once I upload index.html? I'm currently using .htaccess and htusers to prompt someone to enter a username and password when they try to access any file in the root directory. This may sound like a weird request but would it be possible to have them come to the site (without an index.html) and just have them not see the files? All it would say on the page would be the following: Index of/ Apache Server at mysite.com Port 80

    So i'm triying to create a little "XCOM : Enemy Unknown" like game ,and using the Aron Granberg's Pathfinding-Tool (free version) to handle the "click to move part. i want to add a little trap system where the hero get stuck inside an area, so he will have only the possibility to move inside this trapped area, so far everything is fine however when i click outside the trapped area, the hero try to reach the destination even though the wall will prevents him from reaching it. so my question is, is there any way to restrict the area where the pathfinding system work to the trapped area dynamically. and wich Graph Type is recommended to use in this situation or this kind of Games (Grid Graph/Navmesh Graph/Point Graph).   • How do I add restrictions for users to sign up before they can access web site?

    How do I get my webpage not to go back when they hit the back button and are logged out and how can I add a web page to be blocked like FACEBOOK doesn't let you get into their site with out having a page or a account with them, and if you try to put something in the url and try to go to something on their site it gives you a web page that says "you have to be logged in first" . Like I don't want someone going to the url of the "index" page before they have signed up as a member they need to make an account first then they can have access to the "index" page. How do I do this. I have a website so far that has a database and the website has 5 pages so far and two of them which is the login and sign up page which are both used with php and mysql and they work fine. How do I restrict access to the main website by first having the users sign up with me for an account.

    I have been using Pidgin as an all-in-one IM client, but now as Empathy is the default app in Ubuntu I wanted to try it out. I have a sametime account at an external company that is keen to restrict access to their service from certain sametime client versions only. I was able to trick it with pidgin by specifying the following settings in accounts.xml: <setting name='client_minor' type='int'>8510</setting> <setting name='client_major' type='int'>30</setting> <setting name='client_id_val' type='int'>4876</setting> I tried to do the same in Empathy but I failed. As far as I know, Pidgin and Empathy use the same connector Plugin for sametime, so basically the functions should be there somewhere but there is little information about the configuration files and that doesn't discuss any sametime specific options.

    I am an active user of workspaces in Ubuntu. Until recently, pressing Ctrl+Alt+D (show desktop) acted only on the current workspace. For example, one might want to minimize the applications in the current workspace, open a file, and then bring some of them back. The current implementation works on all workspaces uniformly which is counter-intuitive to me. The reason for the existence of workspaces is the separation of logic -- one can have a browser open in one workspace, a text editor in another, a terminal in a third. The current functionality goes against this idea. Is there a way to restrict the action of the show desktop command to a single workspace only?

    I've tried integrating sfPHPOpenIdPlugin but that hit a dead-end since it's built for Symfony 1.2 and relies on deprecated PHP functionality; I also had a go with sfGoogleLoginPlugin which did authenticate correctly but lacks extended capability to retrieve user details (+ would restrict me to Google; obviously). I'm thinking the most viable solution is to link in one of the various PHP libraries available into my model. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success/tips with such an integration and what libraries to consider?

The controller is attempting to communicate on the same random ports as the client. Anyone experienced the same?

Doing my first tryouts with foreign keys in a mySQL database and are trying to do a insert, that fails for this reason: Integrity constraint violation: 1452 Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails Does this mean that foreign keys restrict INSERTS as well as DELETES and/or UPDATES on each table that is enforced with foreign keys relations?     Hi. Evaluating Tinymce. I've looked at the docs/source/api, and have a question that I thought I'd pose to the stackoverflow group. Has anyone implemented Tinymce, who can tell me it it's possible to setup Tinymce to restrict a user, allowing the user to only "view" a text file, and be able to add additional buttons to the save/cancel row of buttons.. However, it seems that adding an RSS feed to Outlook for the URL elmah.axd/rss or elmah.axd/digestrss bypasses the authentication. What's the point of securing the handler if someone can guess the RSS URL and subscribe to a feed of the error log?

    Hi, I've set django filebrowser's debug to True and wrote the extension restrictions in the model. pdf = FileBrowseField("PDF", max_length=200, directory="documents/", extensions=['.pdf', '.doc', '.txt'], format='Document', blank=True, null=True) In django admin it shows correctly with debug info. Directory documents/ Extensions ['.pdf', '.doc', '.txt'] Format Document But when I call the filebrowser, it allows all file extensions to be uploaded. How can I restrict filebrowser to upload only certain filetypes that I want? Thanks everyone
