  • How do I authenticate a Twitter user and access the API without leaving my iPhone app?

    I'd like to allow users to send out Tweets from my iPhone app. That's all the functionality I need at the moment. From what I know of the Twitter API, there's a standard authentication mechanism, which allows the developer to include the user's name and password in the request string that the application sends to Twitter. This method will no longer be supported come June 30, 2010. Given the timeframe, the better other choice is oAuth. One of the caveats of oAuth is that it requires a UIWebView to pop up within the app to allow the user to enter his or her credentials or a PIN number. None of the Twitter apps on my phone do this, however: Tweetie, TweetDeck and Twitterific. I assume they're using the first authentication method, but it seems like Twitter wouldn't deprecate an API that would hurt the user experience across the board. There must be an alternative method--what am I missing?

Allow a user to integrate tweets from my websites twitter feed into their outgoing tweets. I'm finding it hard to find any informationon how to achieve these, can anyone shed any light?   • How to convert searchTwitter results (from library(twitteR)) into a data.frame?

    I am working on saving twitter search results into a database (SQL Server) and am getting an error when I pull the search results from twitteR. If I execute: library(twitteR) puppy <- as.data.frame(searchTwitter("puppy", session=getCurlHandle(),num=100)) I get an error of: Error in as.data.frame.default(x[[i]], optional = TRUE) : cannot coerce class structure("status", package = "twitteR") into a data.frame This is important because in order to use RODBC to add this to a table using sqlSave it needs to be a data.frame. At least that's the error message I got: Error in sqlSave(localSQLServer, puppy, tablename = "puppy_staging", : should be a data frame So does anyone have any suggestions on how to coerce the list to a data.frame or how I can load the list through RODBC?

    Some sites doesn't work normally, they are open, without css, images and javascript errors... Facebook stucks on static.ak.fbcdn.net Twitter stucks on a1.twimg.com Yahoo stucks on l.yimg.com On firefox I'm receiving Waiting for ...(any of those). I can access facebook only with SSL. Like https://facebook.com I ping them, only receive request timed out. Update: When I ping static.ak.fbcdn.net I refer to a749.g.akamai.net, when I ping this server I get Request timed out.

  • Loading dependencies for custom puppet functions

    I have written a custom puppet function, which is working fine, that depends on the cloudservers gem (a Rackspace client library). This is fine if I have pre-installed the gem on a server before running puppet but totally breaks if I have not installed the gem as the function seems to be run during the 'compilation' sweep, well before my package definition is realised. Here's what my .pp looks like, with get_hosts the function that requires the cloudservers gem. package { "rubygems": ensure => installed, provider => "gem"; } package { "cloudservers": ensure => installed, provider => "gem", require => Package["rubygems"]; } class hosts::us { $hosts = get_hosts("us") hostentry { $hosts: } } define hostentry() { $parts = split($name, ',') $address = $parts[0] $ip = $parts[1] $aliases = $parts[2] host{ $address: ip => $ip, host_aliases => $aliases } } Is there a way to stop the function getting run so early, or at least having it's run depend up the library being installed. Alternatively, is there a way that I can add dependencies somewhere in the functions folder that will be available to the function?

    I keep getting an error when trying to install the geoip_city gem. I've already installed the GeoIP C library to /opt/GeoIP, but the gem doesn't seem to pick it up.     Twitter can be a lot of fun but having to constantly use the More Button to view a large number of tweets is frustrating. All that you need to be rid of that frustration is the More Tweets! extension for Google Chrome. Before Here it is…the classic “More Button”. If you are only interested in viewing a few tweets on occasion then it is not a problem. But if you are looking at a large number of tweets on a daily basis then it can be very frustrating. Now there will be a seamless connection from page to page when you are reading through tweets.     when i run "gem -v" i get 1.3.5 i want to upgrade that version cause the bundler gem has to run on a higher version. i have run "apt-get install rubygems" but the version when typing "gem -v" is still 1.3.5. i cant use "gem update --system" on ubuntu, it tells me to update gem using apt-get. please help

    I have been trying, quite unsuccessfully, to run henrik's fork of the jekyll static blog generator on Ubuntu 64-bit.   • How to Tweet from multiple acounts with twitter Gem in Rails?

    I have an application wich has Oauth access using Twitter as provider. I also have the ability to ask the logged user permisson to Read and Write in his/her account and once a user authorized the app, I can send tweets as the user with something like: u = User.find(id) u.twitter.update("Some-Status-Here") in the rails console... What I want to do is to Tweet as all the users in one command, but if I try something like: u = User.all u.twitter.update("Some-Status-Here") I get this error: undefined method `twitter' for #<Array:0x00000002e2f188> How can I tweet as all the users in one command? What am I doing wrong? I feel it is a very basic thing I'm missing... Can someone help me? Thank You.

  • Snow Leopard upgrade -> reinstalling sqlite3-ruby gem problem

    Hi all, I got ruby 1.8.7 (native compiled), rails 2.3.4, OSX 10.6.2 and also sqlite3-ruby. The error I'm getting when accessing the rails app is NameError: uninitialized constant SQLite3::Driver::Native::Driver::API History: I upgraded to snow leopard by migrating my apps with a FW-cable from my old macbook to the new one. Everything was running perfectly for months, but Yesterday I needed to install watir, which was dependant on rb-appscript, which didn't build due a "wrong architecture" error in libsqlite3.dylib. I figured the build was made on the old machine, so i wanted to rebuild sqlite3-ruby: $ sudo gem uninstall sqlite3-ruby $ sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing sqlite3-ruby: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /usr/local/bin/ruby extconf.rb checking for fdatasync() in -lrt... no checking for sqlite3.h... yes checking for sqlite3_open() in -lsqlite3... no * extconf.rb failed * Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary libraries and/or headers. Check the mkmf.log file for more details. You may need configuration options. It seems like the sqlite3 libs are not working properly. I've tried to install macports sqlite3 (sudo port install sqlite3) and use that instead, but with same result... so i rebuild sqlite3 from scratch.. download-configure-make-make install. After that, the gem now builds perfectly, but doesn't work in rails, giving the error in the top of this article. I'm not really sure where to go from here because I've tried the following Rebuild sqlite3 from newest source (http://www.sqlite.org/download.html) Reinstalled sqlite3-ruby (sudo gem uninstall sqlite3-ruby && sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby) Used sqlite3 from macports (sudo port install sqlite3 && sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby) Reinstalled rails (sudo gem install rails sqlite3-ruby ) and updated environment.rb to rails 2.3.5.     Hi, moved a rails app of mine onto a new server and had to install a few gem dependencies. However, after installing the mysql gem I get the error, uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes, whenever I try to run a rake command that involves the mysql database. It seems I only get this error when I require the mms2r gem. Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm running mysql 2.8.1 gem.

  • JSon/Jquery request with a setTimeout always returns a "null" result? (for Twitter Search API)

    I make a call to the twitter API. 100 posts are retreived + a properties that tells me what the next page to call is. So I wait 5 sec. and call that next page, but the JSon results in the callback function is always null the second time... I think it's probably a JQuery problem...
