  • In app purchase on iphone.: How to receive your available products *before* someone may be able to b

    - by Thorsten S.
    Currently I am loading my supported products from a plist and after that I send a SKProductsRequest to guarantee that my SKProducts are still valid. So I set up the request, start it and get the response in: (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response Now, so far all functions correctly. Problem: From calling the request until receiving the response it may last several seconds. Until that my app is already loaded and the user may be able to choose and buy a product. But because no products have been received, the available products are not in sync with the validated products - unlikely, but possible error. So my idea is to wait until the data is loaded and only continue when the list is validated. (Just a few seconds waiting...). I have a singleton instance managing all products. + (MyClass *) sharedInstance { if (!sharedInstance) sharedInstance = [MyClass new]; // Now wait until we have our data [condition lock]; while (noEntriesYet) // is yes at begin [condition wait]; [condition unlock]; return sharedInstance; } - productsRequest: didReceiveResponse: { [condition lock]; // I have my data noEntriesYet = false; [condition signal]; [condition unlock]; } Problem: The app freezes. Everything works fine if didReceiveResponse is completed before the sharedInstance is queried. There are different threads, the lock is working if wait is reached during didReceiveResponse, everything fine. But if not, didReceiveResponse is never called even if the request was sent. The lock is released, everything looks ok. I have tried to send the product request in a separate NSThread, with NSOperationQueue...without avail. Why ? What is happening ? How to solve the problem ?

  • Start-job to call script from main

    - by Naveen
    I have three script , from main - 1-script , I am calling other two scripts. so that I can execute both scripts parallely because it's taking too much time in sequential order. Only variables are different in the script. How can I merge script 2 & 3 in a single script so that I can call from the main script and it will run as parallel. 1 CompareCtrlM... • With the advent of HTML 5, is there a point in using COMET anymore?

    - by h2g2java
    I am very tempted to use long wait http or periodic polling by the client to set up pseudo-sockets on the browser side, for an application that would be used publicly. But then on the 2nd thought, I am thinking HTML 5 is here. But on the 3rd thought, what is the percentage of browsers out there that remain non-HTML5 within 12 months, 24 months, 36 months? If there are at least 20% of browsers still incapable of HTML5, then I cannot depend on HTML5 because 20% of users not being able to access an application is a significant amount. What do you think, how would your advice be (to me and to developers in general)? Q1. Is there any point in rigging in COMET into an application anymore? I am thinking of gwt comet - http://code.google.com/p/gwt-comet/. Q2. Should we release a new public application within the next 2 months that is dependent on HTML5 sockets and tell non-HTML5 browser users "sorry, your browser version cannot access this application"? Or should we architect the apps to use communication like GWT RPC? Q3. I am also very distrustful of long wait http request. I have never used it before but I have a horrible feeling about it. I have been using 10 to 20 second client-side polling. Is long wait http request risky (risk of hanging a browser session)? Does long wait request present any additional security risk?

  • Syntactical analysis with Flex/Bison part 2

    - by Imran
    Hallo, I need help in Lex/Yacc Programming. I wrote a compiler for a syntactical analysis for inputs of many statements. Now i have a special problem. In case of an Input the compiler gives the right output, which statement is uses, constant operator or a jmp instructor to which label, now i have to write so, if now a if statement comes, first the first command (before the else) must be give out when the assignment of the if is yes then it must jump to the end because the command after the else isnt needed, so after this jmp then the second command must be give out. I show it in an example maybe you understand what i mean. Input adr. Output if(x==0) 10 if(x==0) Wait 5 20 WAIT 5 else 30 JMP 50 Wait 1 40 WAIT 1 end 50 END like so. I have an idea, maybe i can do it whith a special if statement like IF exp jmp_stmt_end stmt_seq END when the if statement is given in the input the compiler has to recognize the end ofthe statement and like my jmp_stmt in my compiler ( you have to download the files from http://bitbucket.org/matrix/changed-tiny) only to jump to the end. I hope you understand my problem.thanks.

  • Javascript Anonymous Functions and Global Variables

    - by Jonathan Swift
    I thought I would try and be clever and create a Wait function of my own (I realise there are other ways to do this). So I wrote: var interval_id; var countdowntimer = 0; function Wait(wait_interval) { countdowntimer = wait_interval; interval_id = setInterval(function() { --countdowntimer <=0 ? clearInterval(interval_id) : null; }, 1000); do {} while (countdowntimer >= 0); } // Wait a bit: 5 secs Wait(5); This all works, except for the infinite looping. Upon inspection, if I take the While loop out, the anonymous function is entered 5 times, as expected. So clearly the global variable countdowntimer is decremented. However, if I check the value of countdowntimer, in the While loop, it never goes down. This is despite the fact that the anonymous function is being called whilst in the While loop! Clearly, somehow, there are two values of countdowntimer floating around, but why?

  • Calling a jQuery plugin inside itself

    - by Real Tuty
    I am trying to create a comet like thing. I have a plugin that collects data from a php page. The problem is that i dont know how to call the plugin inside itself. If it were a function i could go like this: function j () {setTimeout(j(), 1000);}, but i am using a jQuery plugin. Here is my plugin code: (function($) { $.fn.watch = function(ops) { var $this_ = this, setngs = $.extend({ 'type' : 'JSON', 'query' : 'GET', 'url' : '', 'data' : '', 'wait' : 1000 }, ops); if (setngs.type === '') { return false; } else if (setngs.query === '') { return false; } else if (setngs.url === '') { return false; } else if (setngs.wait === '') { return false; } else if (setngs.wait === 0) { setngs.wait = 1000; } var xhr = $.ajax({ type : setngs.query, dataType : setngs.type, url : setngs.url, success : function(data) { var i = 0; for (i = 0; i < data.length; i++) { var html = $this_.html(), str = '<li class="post" id="post-' + data[i].id + '"><div class="inner"><div class="user">' + data[i].user + '</div><div class="body">' + data[i].body + '</div></div></li>'; $this_.html(str + html); } setTimeout($this_, 1000); } }); }; })(jQuery); where it says setTimeout($this_, 1000); this is where im having trouble. I don't know what to call the plugin as. $this_ is what I thought might work but I am wrong. That is what i need to replace. Thanks for your help.

  • Suggestions for opening the Rails toolbox to design a challenge game?

    - by keruilin
    How would you suggest designing a challenge system as part of a food-eating game so that it's automated as possible? All RoR tools, design patterns and logic are at your disposal (e.g., admin consoles, crontab, arch, etc.). Prize goes to whoever can suggest the simplest and most-automated design! Here are the requirements: User has many challenges. Badge has many challenges. (A unique badge is awarded for each challenge won.) Only one challenge can run at a time. Each challenge has a limited number of days that it runs. For example, one challenge can run 3 days, while another runs 7 days. Challenges can be seasonal. For example, "Eat 13 Pumpkins" only runs during the Fall. New challenges are added to the game on an ongoing basis. For example, a new challenge every week. Each challenge has a certain probability of being selected to run. For example, "Eat 10 Pies" challenge has 10% chance of being selected to run. As each new challenge is added to the database, I want the probabilities of running to change dynamically. I want to avoid the scenario where I'm manually updating a database field just to change the probability from 10% to 5%, for example. Challenges act like Easter eggs. Challenge icons pop-up at different places on the webpage. User is awarded a badge for successfully completing a challenge, but only when it's active. There is some wait time between each challenge. Between 1 and 7 days. Which wait time is random, but the probability of the wait time being short is high and the probability of it being a long wait time is low.

  • How do I want untill is finished in C#?

    - by Grienders
    Let's say, I want to send a request to a server and get a result from it: private static string Send(int id) { Task<HttpResponseMessage> responseTask = client.GetAsync("aaaaa"); string result = string.Empty; responseTask.ContinueWith(x => result = Print(x)); responseTask.Wait(); // it doesn't wait for complemeting of response task return result; } private static string Print(Task<HttpResponseMessage> httpTask) { Task<string> task = httpTask.Result.Content.ReadAsStringAsync(); string result = string.Empty; task.ContinueWith(t => { Console.WriteLine("Result: " + t.Result); result = t.Result; }); task.Wait(); // it does wait return result; } Am I using task correct? I don't think so because Send() method return string.Empty all the time, while Print returns the correct value. What am I doing wrong? How do I get a result from a server?

  • Selenium : Handling Loading screens obscuring the web elements. (Java)

    - by Sheldon Cooper
    I'm writing an automated test case for a web page. Here's my scenario. I have to click and type on various web elements in an html form. But, sometimes while typing on a text field, an ajax loading image appears , fogging all elements i want to interact with. So, I'm using web-driver wait before clicking on the actual elements like below, WebdriverWait innerwait=new WebDriverWait(driver,30); innerwait.until(ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable(By.xpath(fieldID))); driver.findelement(By.xpath(fieldID)).click(); But the wait function returns the element even if it is fogged by another image and is not clickable. But the click() throws an exception as Element is not clickable at point (586.5, 278). Other element would receive the click: <div>Loading image</div> Do I have to check every time if the loading image appeared before interacting with any elements?.(I can't predict when the loading image will appear and fog all elements.) Is there any efficient way to handle this? Currently I'm using the following function to wait till the loading image disappears, public void wait_for_ajax_loading() throws Exception { try{ Thread.sleep(2000); if(selenium.isElementPresent("id=loadingPanel")) while(selenium.isElementPresent("id=loadingPanel")&&selenium.isVisible("id=loadingPanel"))//wait till the loading screen disappears { Thread.sleep(2000); System.out.println("Loading...."); }} catch(Exception e){ Logger.logPrint("Exception in wait_for_ajax_loading() "+e); Logger.failedReport(report, e); driver.quit(); System.exit(0); } } But I don't know exactly when to call the above function, calling it at a wrong time will fail. Is there any efficient way to check if an element is actually clickable? or the loading image is present? Thanks..

  • Getting a per thread cpu stats

    - by viraptor
    I'm interested in the current usage of cpu - precisely cpu% and wait% - for each thread in a specific application. Is it possible to get that information from somewhere? I know that top can split information per real thread (ones with pid), but it doesn't show the system/user/wait cpu usage split for each of them. I would also like some way to log that info. Do you know any apps (or apis) that can do that?

  • Remotely from Chrome or IE page loads ~60seconds, from Firefox or IE on local machine - instantly.

    - by Janis Veinbergs
    The problem: If i access SharePoint from Windows 7 with IE8 or Chrome5 - I must wait for like a minute to get a response. If i use other Windows 7 with IE8, just the same - just wait a MINUTE. If i use Firefox3.6 on W7 machine - page opens up instantly. Now switch to IE rendering engine in Firefox, you will have to wait just as with IE. Now i tried IE8 on XP SP3 - page opens up instantly. I tried IE8 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (machine on which SharePoint is hosted) - page opens up instantly. IIS6 Logs I did request almost instantly from all 3 browsers and this is what shows up in IIS logs (first 2 entries for each browser): Chrome Ok, IIS saw first Chrome request when i Hit enter in browser, but i had to wait long for things to move on 2010-06-01 05:46:04 W3SVC1794621940 192.168.0.9 GET /sapulces - 80 - 192.168.0.186 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows;+U;+Windows+NT+6.1;+en-US)+AppleWebKit/533.4+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Chrome/5.0.375.55+Safari/533.4 401 2 2148074254 Loading... 2010-06-01 05:47:07 W3SVC1794621940 192.168.0.9 GET /sapulces - 80 - 192.168.0.186 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows;+U;+Windows+NT+6.1;+en-US)+AppleWebKit/533.4+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Chrome/5.0.375.55+Safari/533.4 401 1 0 ... etc... • pyglet and animated gif

    - by wtzolt
    Hello, I have a message box pop up when a certain operation is being executed sort of "wait..." window and I want to have a "loading" *.gif animation there to lighten up the mood :) Anyways I can't seem to figure out how to make this work. It's a complete mess. I tried calling through class but i get loads of errors to do with pyglet itself. class messageBox: def __init__(self, lbl_msg = 'Message here', dlg_title = ''): self.wTree = gtk.glade.XML('msgbox.glade') self.wTree.get_widget('label1').set_text(lbl_msg) self.wTree.get_widget('dialog1').set_title(dlg_title) ????sprite = pyglet.sprite.Sprite(pyglet.resource.animation("wait.gif")) ????self.wTree.get_widget('waitt').set_from_file(sprite) [email protected] ????def on_draw(): ???? win.clear() ???? sprite.draw() handlers = { 'on_okbutton1_clicked':self.gg } self.wTree.signal_autoconnect( handlers ) self.wTree.get_widget("dialog1").set_keep_above(True) def done(self): self.wTree.get_widget('dialog1').destroy() def gg(self,w): self.wTree.get_widget('dialog1').destroy() --------- @yieldsleep def popup(self, widget, data=None): self.msg = messageBox('Wait...','') ?what to call here? yield 500 print '1' yield 500 print '2' yield 500 print '3' self.msg.done() self.msg = messageBox('Done!   • Spawning BackgroundWorkers

    - by washtik
    We have a business case that would be perfect for multiple BackgroundWorkers. As an example, we have a form with a "Save" button on it. Normally we would run all the save commands (Save is an example) synchronously and then close the form. We would like to now split the work onto separate threads using backgroundworker. We will loop through each "Save" required (could be many and/or different number of commands that need executing) creating a BackgroundWorker for each command required. The question is ... how do we wait for ALL the BackgroundWorkers to complete before we close the form. We understand how to wait for a single BackgroundWorker to complete but when we have X number of BackgroundWorkers operating, how do we wait until all are complete before closing the UI form?

  • How do I get the java.concurrency.CyclicBarrier to work as expected

    - by Ritesh M Nayak
    I am writing code that will spawn two thread and then wait for them to sync up using the CyclicBarrier class. Problem is that the cyclic barrier isn't working as expected and the main thread doesnt wait for the individual threads to finish. Here's how my code looks: class mythread extends Thread{ CyclicBarrier barrier; public mythread(CyclicBarrier barrier) { this.barrier = barrier; } public void run(){ barrier.await(); } } class MainClass{ public void spawnAndWait(){ CyclicBarrier barrier = new CyclicBarrier(2); mythread thread1 = new mythread(barrier).start(); mythread thread2 = new mythread(barrier).start(); System.out.println("Should wait till both threads finish executing before printing this"); } } Any idea what I am doing wrong? Or is there a better way to write these barrier synchronization methods? Please help.

  • Looping an executable to get the result from Python script

    - by fx
    In my python script, I need to call within a for loop an executable, and waiting for that executable to write the result on the "output.xml". How do I manage to use wait() & how do I know when one of my executable is finished generating the result to get the result? How do I close that process and open a new one to call again the executable and wait for the new result? import subprocess args = ("bin/bar") popen = subprocess.Popen(args) I need to wait for the output from "bin/bar" to generate the "output.xml" and from there, read it's content. for index, result in enumerate(results): myModule.callSubProcess(index) #this is where the problem is. fileOutput = open("output.xml") parseAndStoreInSQLiteFileOutput(index, file)

  • Spawning Process Never Finishes on ASP.NET Page

    - by Nissan Fan
    The code below spawns the process and sits forever, never finishing. It doesn't matter what process I run. If I use delegates it doesn't work either. It just hangs up in my dev and on the test enviornment. Also, if I use Shell with Wait it does the same thing. If I set wait to false in either approach it works just fine. It's ASP.NET 2.0 VB.NET DotNetNuke 4.0 on Windows Server 2003. I can't even phathom why this would hang up. UPDATE: It causes the CPU to throttle up but it's not running anything. It's like there's something weird going on in the threading. • How to pass around event as parameter in c#

    - by Jerry Liu
    Am writing unit test for a multi-threading application, where I need to wait until a specific event triggered so that I know the asyn operation is done. E.g. When I call repository.add(something), I wait for event AfterChange before doing any assertion. So I write a util function to do that. public static void SyncAction(EventHandler event_, Action action_) { var signal = new object(); EventHandler callback = null; callback = new EventHandler((s, e) => { lock (signal) { Monitor.Pulse(signal); } event_ -= callback; }); event_ += callback; lock (signal) { action_(); Assert.IsTrue(Monitor.Wait(signal, 10000)); } } However, the compiler prevents from passing event out of the class. Is there a way to achieve that?

  • How to restart the IIS Site when re-compiling an asp.net website

    - by Glennular
    What is the best way to add into the build/compile script of an Asp.net project to initiate a IIS to restart the website on DLL rebuild instead of the first request to the site. Current Process Compile Project Wait Hit APSX Page IIS starts reload Wait Page loads Ideal process: Compile Project & Reload IIS Wait Hit APSX Page Page loads The first way I though of was add a request to just hit one of the pages in the "Post-Build events". Just wondering best practices. This would be similar to "Start" which opens a page immediately on build.

  • Waiting for a submitted job to finish in Oracle PL/SQL?

    - by vicjugador
    I'm looking for the equivalent of Java's thread.join() in PL/SQL. I.e. I want to kick off a number of jobs (threads), and then wait for them to finish. How is this possible in PL/SQL? I'm thinking of using dbms_job.submit (I know it's deprecated). dbms_scheduler is also an alternative. My code: DECLARE jobno1 number; jobno2 number; BEGIN dbms_job.submit(jobno1,'begin dbms_lock.sleep(10); dbms_output.put_line(''job 1 exit'');end;'); dbms_job.submit(jobno2,'begin dbms_lock.sleep(10); dbms_output.put_line(''job 2 exit'');end;'); dbms_job.run(jobno1); dbms_job.run(jobno2); //Need code to Wait for jobno1 to finish //Need code to Wait for jobno2 to finish END;

  • Alternative to CURL due to long waiting

    - by aalan
    Hey Guys I currently run a PHP-script using CURL to send data to another server, to do run a PHP-script that could take up to a minute to run. This server doesn't give any data back. But the CURL-request still has to wait for it to complete, and then it loads the rest of the orignal page. I would like my PHP-script to just send the data to the other server and then not wait for an answer. So my question is how should I solve this? I have read that CURL always has to wait. What are your suggestions? Thank You!

  • jQuery reader() on downloaded content.

    - by David
    Hi all! jQuery.ready() allows us to wait for the construction of the webpage. Recently it has been added support to wait until CSS files are loaded. I would like to know if that feature can be used for downloaded content, because I fetch content via $.ajax() that holds CSS references and I would like to retrieve the content of the CSS before working with the retrieved content. Fetch with $.ajax() the html. -- Wait until all CSS is downloaded. Show to fetched content (already css'ed). Thank you very much for your help.
