  • Font Rendering between Mozilla and webkit

    - by Joe Payton
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the recent Safari update, but I'm beginning to notice this a lot. There is a drastic difference in the way each browser is rendering fonts. for instance, I took screenshots of what I am seeing here on stackoverflow... http://twitpic.com/q43eh I have verified that this is a trend via my co-workers machines. has anyone noticed this or have any thoughts on non-hack solutions?

  • How to use Firebug's debugger functions?

    - by TK
I don't have an experience with any debugger in any language, but I recently found some videos showing Firebug. I'm now playing with Firebug with a script I included an error with. What I understand now is: I can set a breakpoint, which is shown as a red circle. Firebug stops at the breakpoint and gives me 4 options (Continue, Step Into, Step Over and Step Out). What I don't understand are: What is the difference between the 4 options (i.e., Continue, Step Into, Step Over and Step Out)? To me, Step Over is sometimes similar to Step Into... I could be wrong here. I would be grateful if you could explain the differences of the 4 options.

  • XMLHttpRequest - JSON - .NET

    - by user318194
I am trying to send JSON from my mozilla addon to my asp.net page. var myJSONObject = {"userName": una,"password": pass}; request = new XMLHttpRequest(); request.open("GET",http://www.google.com/jo=" + myJSONObject, true, null, null); on my .net page I have tried several ways of doing it but not able to find the best way to serialize and deserialize the code. All I need is to send the json data back n forth and parse it on C# n javascript. I am new to all this so any guidance and/or change in direction is appreciated.

  • aspxcombobox populating on the fly

    - by gaponte69
Aspxcombobox populating on the fly works fine with IE, but with others browsers, when using arrow keys for navigation, the second depended control, always has value for the first next and not for the current, so I have a bit of delay ...

  • CSS [custom?] attributes

    - by Michael
radio[pane] { list-style-image: url("jar:resource:///chrome/classic.jar! /skin/classic/browser/preferences/Options.png"); } radio[pane="prefpane-appearance"] { -moz-image-region: rect(0px, 32px, 32px, 0px); } radio[pane="prefpane-appearance"]:hover, radio[pane="prefpane-appearance"][selected="true"] { -moz-image-region: rect(32px, 32px, 64px, 0px); } Can anyone explain a syntax of this css, particularly what is pane.. I couldn't find such attribute for radio element in context of XUL. So I guess it's some custom attribute? If it is, then how it is evolving through the lines, first declaration, then several assignments? It has also selected, which means can have multiple custom attributes? How can those attributes be used later?

  • Event problems with FF

    - by s4v10r
    Hi all :) Made this sweet little script to auto change fields after input. Works nicely in IE, Chrome and Safari, but not in FF or opera. JS code: function fieldChange(id, e){ var keyID = (window.event) ? event.keyCode : e.keyCode; if (document.getElementById(id).value.length >= 2){ if (keyID >= 48 && keyID <= 57 || keyID >= 96 && keyID <= 105){ switch(id){ case "textf1": document.getElementById("textf2").focus(); break; case "textf2": document.getElementById("textf3").focus(); break; case "textf3": if (document.getElementById(id).value.length >= 4){ document.getElementById("nubPcode").focus(); } break; } } } HTML: <div class="privateOrderSchema"> <input type="text" id="textf1" name="textf1" maxlength="2" size="4" onKeyUp="fieldChange('textf1')"/>- <input type="text" id="textf2" name="textf2" maxlength="2" size="4" onKeyUp="fieldChange('textf2')" />- <input type="text" id="textf3" name="textf3" maxlength="4" size="5" onKeyUp="fieldChange('textf3')" /> </div> <div class="privateOrderSchema"> <input type="text" id="nubPcode" name="nubPcode" size="4" maxlength="4" /> <br /> </div> Does anybody know how to send the "e" var in this scenario? Tnx all :D ur gr8!

  • code snippet works when procedural, but doesn't when converted to modular

    - by Delirium tremens
    function sc_HTMLParser(aHTMLString){ var parseDOM = content.document.createElement('div'); parseDOM.appendChild(Components.classes['@mozilla.org/feed-unescapehtml;1'] .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIScriptableUnescapeHTML) .parseFragment(aHTMLString, false, null, parseDOM)); return parseDOM; } becomes this.HTMLParser = function(aHTMLString){ var parseDOM = content.document.createElement('div'); parseDOM.appendChild(Components.classes['@mozilla.org/feed-unescapehtml;1'] .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIScriptableUnescapeHTML) .parseFragment(aHTMLString, false, null, parseDOM)); return parseDOM; } and searchcontents = req.responseText; parsedHTML = sc_HTMLParser(searchcontents); sitefound = sc_sitefound(compareuris, parsedHTML); becomes searchcontents = req.responseText; alert(searchcontents); parsedHTML = this.HTMLParser(searchcontents); alert(parsedHTML); sitefound = this.sitefound(compareuris, parsedHTML); The modular code alerts the search contents, but doesn't alert the parsedHTML. Why? How to solve?

  • Swapping an image during web development

    - by detly
I'm trying to see what a certain webpage would look like if I replaced a certain image with another. Rather than upload the image, edit the site, etc, each time I tweak it, I'd like to know if there's a way to change the image in the page to my local version while viewing the remote page. I use Firebug for debugging web development usually, but I'm open to any other tool that might do this. (It is absolutely impossible to search for this and find anything but questions about dynamic image swapping on a deployed website, so sorry if this is a duplicate.)

  • Stopping infinite loops of alerts in Mozilla

    - by Christy John
This may be dumb question. But somehow this engaged me for sometime and after some basic research I couldn't find an answer. I was learning JavaScript and a code I wrote had an error and has been outputting infinite loops of alerts. I tried the normal shortcuts like Ctrl + C and Ctrl + Z but they didn't work. So I was thinking if there is any solution to this other than ending the browser process (like by doing a Ctrl + Alt + Del).

  • Emulate clicking a link with Javascript that works with IE

    - by Tam
I want to have java script clicking a link on the page..I found something on the net that suggests adding a function like this: function fireEvent(obj, evt){ var fireOnThis = obj; if( document.createEvent ) { var evObj = document.createEvent('MouseEvents'); evObj.initEvent( evt, true, false ); fireOnThis.dispatchEvent(evObj); } else if( document.createEventObject ) { fireOnThis.fireEvent('on'+evt); } } Then call it using: fireEvent(document.getElementById('edit_client_link'),'click'); This seems to work fine for FF but with IE it doesn't work! Any ideas?

  • Missing 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' time information in Firebug's Net Panel.

    - by stony_dreams
Hello, Firebug is awesome in reporting the relative time when an HTTP request was made with respect to the 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' time. However, once the 'load' event occurs (seen by the red line on the timeline), the requests thereafter do not have any information about how later they occurred with respect to the two events. To confuse things, these requests (usually at the bottom of the timeline) appear to have started right at the beginning of the page load. Could somebody shed some light on what should i infer when i see such entries in the timeline which do not have information about the 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' event times and appear to have occurred after the page load event, still net panel shows that they started at the beginning? Thanks!

  • Navigate with location.href during XMLHttpRequest asynchronous call

    - by OlduwanSteve
I have a web page containing something like this: <div onclick="location.href = 'AnotherPage';"> This page also uses asynchronous XMLHttpRequests for some ajax updating. I have found that while an asynchronous XMLHttpRequest is in progress, clicking on this div does not load the new page. If I cancel my request first then it works fine. This seems wrong, but I cannot find any documentation that describes what should happen. So the question is: what should happen to asynchronous XMLHttpRequests in progress when a new page is loaded using location.href?
