  Has anyone tried recreating the page flip effect with images like you commonly see in Adobe Flash with JavaScript and HTML 5's canvas tag? Are there any frameworks or JQuery plug-ins that do this type of effect? The page flip in Flash allows you to grab a corner of the simulated book page and flip the page like you would flip a real book's page.   Hello, I'm developing a Adobe AIR application using Flash Builder 4. This app needs to access a remote PHP service which is being hosted on a remote web server. I am having troubles figuring out how to add a PHP data service which uses a remote service. I can add the PHP data service in Flash Builder as a service hosted on localhost, but given that this will not be feasible when the application is deployed, will not work. Does anyone know how to connect a Flash Builder (Flex) project to a remote PHP data service? Thanks, Chris

• How to get flash player to display under content on a PC?

  Long story short, I'm developing a theme template for a blog that enables you to view the posts in blocks. The main part of the post is displayed at first, then the secondary content is displayed over that when you hover over the post block. Everything works fine on a Mac Versions of all major browsers, but start browsing on a PC, and all hell breaks loose when you start trying to display content over Flash Video embeds. The flash element remains visible over the content. It's completely unusable. From a PC, you can view an example of the problem here: http://photorific.tumblr.com I'm almost certain this is a bug in the Flash Plugin for Windows, but I was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem before, and if there were any solutions.   I'm thinking of changing to a new laptop that only comes with a 256gb SSD. It's not tons of room, but not inadequate either. One thing I have on my HD at the moment that takes up a lot of room but is rarely used is a partition with a bootable version of Windows 7 (I'm on a mac). Would it be possible to install a bootable copy of Windows 7 onto a flash drive? I was thinking of using a 64gb Sandisk Cruzer USB 2.0, so that when I need to dip into Windows every now and again I could just plug in the flash drive.

  I had an old computer with Windows XP. I transferred all my music, at least I hoped I had to a flash drive. Also, my computer kept giving me error messages that it could no longer sync to my Ipod Touch First Generation. I reformatted my Ipod back to original factory specs on the old computer. I have a new computer with Windows 7. I can't transfer my music from my flash drive to the ITunes Library. I also can't transfer it to my Ipod. I keep getting the message "Songs cannot be added to the Ipod because all of its space has been reserved for data." There's nothing in the Ipod memory. It's clear. What can I do? I want my music back.

For example, I have a windows 7 computer with 2 partitions c and d, then connect that computer to another computer or a smart TV using a USB cable (has to be male to male USB cable) then the other computer or TV recognizes the current computer as a usb device. • Azure VM won't boot after sysprep; integration tools installed

  I have installed the Azure Integration Components and used sysprep on a Windows 2012 VM. Now the machine won't start up. I uploaded the VHD to Azure - it failed there too. When I start up the VM I get a PowerShell window that hangs out for a bit; eventually I get the following error, after which the machine restarts. New-Object: The dependency service or group failed to start. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007042C) At line1: char:1 New-Object -comobject WaAgent.WindowsSetupComponent | % { $_.HandleSetupError() ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +CategoryInfo : ResourceUnavailable (:) [New-Object], COMException +FullyQualifiedErrorId: NoCOMClassIdentified,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.NewObjectCommand I have tried renaming unattended.xml and turning on bootlogging. Neither of those yielded much help. Is there a way I can disable the Azure components that run during OOBE? That seems to be the source of the problem. Mounting the VHD is easy. 0x8007042C looks like a firewall issue, based on my googling. Unfortunately I can't get the machine to boot so I can figure that issue out. Also, I can't get around this problem by booting into safe mode. Thanks for your help, guys.

  Hello Everyone, I am new to design patterns and am trying to learn the MVC implementation. I have written four classes: DataModel DataView DataController Main Main serves as the application facade. The main FLA is called HelloWorld. I have a symbol called "Box" in HelloWorld. I just would like to add an instance of the "Box" on the stage. Eventually I would like to place a button and when the button is clicked, the Box instance color will be changed. I would appreciate any help, please help me figure out what am I doing wrong. • Why should I bother with unit testing if I can just use integration tests?

  Ok, I know I am going out on a limb making a statement like that, so my question is for everyone to convince me I am wrong. Take this scenario: I have method A, which calls method B, and they are in different layers. So I unit test B, which delivers null as a result. So I test that null is returned, and the unit test passes. Nice. Then I unit test A, which expects an empty string to be returned from B. So I mock the layer B is in, an empty string is return, the test passes. Nice again. (Assume I don't realize the relationship of A and B, or that maybe two differente people are building these methods) My concern is that we don't find the real problem until we test A and B togther, i.e. Integration Testing. Since an integration test provides coverage over the unit test area, it seems like a waste of effort to build all these unit tests that really don't tell us anything (or very much) meaningful. Why am I wrong?

  I see from poking around in the 1.4.4 source that Autofac's ASP.NET integration (via Autofac.Integration.Web) peforms injection of properties on the Page as part of the HttpContext.PreRequestHandlerExecute event handling, but that the page's child controls don't get their properties injected until Page.PreLoad. What this means, though is that the injected properties of child controls are unavailable for use in the OnInit event handler. For example, this works fine: HelloWorld.aspx: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="HelloWorld.aspx.cs" Inherits="HelloWorld" %> <html> <body> <asp:Label runat="server" id="lblMsg" OnInit="HandleInit"/> </body> </html> HelloWorld.aspx.cs: ... protected void HandleInit() { lblMsg.Text = _msgProvider.GetMessage(); } public IMsgProvider _msgProvider { private get; set; } // <-- Injected But changing the HelloWorld Page to a UserControl (.acsx) and putting the UserControl in another page doesn't work because _msgProvider isn't injected early enough. Is there a way to make Autofac inject properties of child controls earlier? Or is this something that can be addressed in a future build? Thanks!

• How can Windows XP/7 users cleanly connect to Mac OS X Server 10.9.4 Mavericks with Active Directory integration?

  I’m a Linux/Unix systems admin who also manages a Macintosh server infrastructure & there is a lone Mac Mini in the mix running 10.9.4 that I would like Windows XP & Windows 7 users to connect to with little or no hassle. The problem? Windows users can’t seem to even get to the point of a password prompt yet connect. Mind you this server replaced a Mac OS X 10.6.8 server that had issues, but never had issues with Windows users connected. The gist of this post is: The tons of different messages out there about Mac OS X 10.9.4 Samba support are mind-numbingly confusing. Can anyone share some solid specifics here? I’ve read pieces like this one here that suggest turning off file sharing & then adding a share with AFP/SMB enabled would work. But the suggestion seems to apply to 10.8. And from what I know a lot has changed in Samba support in 10.9 let alone the iterations to 10.9.4. Then I found this great tutorial here that explains things step-by-step. Which seems like it should work, but the problem is the example given applies to a local user created on the Mac when I would like users in an Active Directory group—which the Mac is bound to—access the Mac Mini shares. There are also tons of great tips here on MacWindows.com but nothing seems solid to the issue I am facing. So from what I am reading these are my options: Local User Versus Active Directory: Setup a common local user on the Mac OS X 10.9.4 server to be used for Samba sharing since Active Directory won’t work. Is this really the case? Because loss of AD integration is a major pain. Do Extended File Attributes Get Retained from Windows Users: If this were to work, how do extended attributes come into play? Loss of metadata & related info is not an option. How Fragile is Any of this to Updates: How does any of this shake out with Mac OS X updates as well as Windows updates? Installing Official, Open Source Samba: Would upgrading the Samba install on the server to the official open source Samba via a package like SMBUp or via the Hombrew method described here help or make the issue worse? I fully understand there have historically been issues in mixed environments, but nowadays Windows users connecting to a Mac seem to have a truly hellish road ahead of them. Unless I am missing something?

  I'm building a web site that needs to stream video and be friendly for handheld devices (especially the iPhone). Some handhelds don't support Flash so I'm avoiding the use of a Flash player. How does Youtube stream its videos so that they play on both desktops and iPhones? I'm looking for a player, or multiple players, which can be somehow activated based on the user's device. Your help and guidance are much appreciated. Thanks.

• Why is it safe to use copy & paste in Flash but not in Javascript?

  I'm trying to use copy'n paste in one of my web apps and have read a few articles/SO questions about it. Most people say that using Flash is the only option since most browsers don't allow access to the system clipboard because of security concerns. I can understand this but I wonder why it is okay for Flash do this, but not for the browser. Or has it got nothing to do with security and it is simply to complicated to implement this for cross-platform browser vendors?

  Hello. I'm developing a Flash game in ActionScript 2, and the issue if that this game has to count the time securely. It can't count the time from the Date class because the Flash Player takes the time from the local computer, and the user can change the local time so the time reported would be fake. I haven't considerend to take the time from the server because there's a 3WH (3 way handshake) time and it would not be practical. What do you sugest me??

  Hello, sIFR 3 is behaving strangely in Firefox. The actual sIFR flash element is set within a box that is 412px wide. In IE, Chrome, Safari, etc., the with of the Flash element is a consistent 412px; however, in Firefox, the Flash element is briefly as wide as the Body element, before correcting itself. When the page finishes loading, sometimes the Flash element remains that wide, breaking the layout (the Flash text flows underneath the sidebar to the right). Setting a width in the CSS for the .sIFR-flash element causes it to remain the proper 412px wide, but the text doesn't wrap at all--it just cuts off at the right edge, and the height of the flash element remains one line high. The markup is simple; it's just an h2 within a div. My sIFR code: var clerkenwell = { src: '/flash/sifr.swf' }; sIFR.activate(clerkenwell); sIFR.replace(clerkenwell, { selector: '.post h2', css: '.sIFR-root { color: #1899c4; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:30px; }', transparent: 'true', }); Setting forceWidth: 'true', just causes the same problem as using a CSS width on the .sIFR-flash element. So: how can I get the sIFR text to remain as wide as its containing element while allowing for line breaks in Firefox? Thanks for any and all help!

  I am trying to use a Flash detection script to assess whether Flash Plugin is enabled in the user browser so that a different page loads. I need to capture the value whether flash plugin value is true in a php variable $hasFlashSupport as below: <?php echo " $hasFlashSupport"; exit; ?> I am aware that PHP is server based and Javascript is client based.. Hence Ajax would be a nice option to capture the javascript variable to my php variable. I am totally ignorant about Ajax syntax and how to achieve it.
