  • 2 Shaders using the same vertex data

    - by Fonix
So im having problems rendering using 2 different shaders. Im currently rendering shapes that represent dice, what i want is if the dice is selected by the user, it draws an outline by drawing the dice completely red and slightly scaled up, then render the proper dice over it. At the moment some of the dice, for some reason, render the wrong dice for the outline, but the right one for the proper foreground dice. Im wondering if they aren't getting their vertex data mixed up somehow. Im not sure if doing something like this is even allowed in openGL: glGenBuffers(1, &_vertexBuffer); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, _vertexBuffer); glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, numVertices*sizeof(GLfloat), vertices, GL_STATIC_DRAW); glEnableVertexAttribArray(effect->vertCoord); glVertexAttribPointer(effect->vertCoord, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0); glEnableVertexAttribArray(effect->toon_vertCoord); glVertexAttribPointer(effect->toon_vertCoord, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0); im trying to bind the vertex data to 2 different shaders here when i load my first shader i have: vertCoord = glGetAttribLocation(TexAndLighting, "position"); and the other shader has: toon_vertCoord = glGetAttribLocation(Toon, "position"); if I use the shaders independently of each other they work fine, but when i try to render both one on top of the other they get the model mixed up some times. here is how my draw function looks: - (void) draw { [EAGLContext setCurrentContext:context]; glBindVertexArrayOES(_vertexArray); effect->modelViewMatrix = mvm; effect->numberColour = GLKVector4Make(numbers[colorSelected].r, numbers[colorSelected].g, numbers[colorSelected].b, 1); effect->faceColour = GLKVector4Make(faceColors[colorSelected].r, faceColors[colorSelected].g, faceColors[colorSelected].b, 1); if(selected){ [effect drawOutline]; //this function prepares the shader glDrawElements(GL_TRIANGLES, numIndices, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, 0); } [effect prepareToDraw]; //same with this one glDrawElements(GL_TRIANGLES, numIndices, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, 0); } this is what it looks like, as you can see most of the outlines are using the wrong dice, or none at all: links to full code: http://pastebin.com/yDKb3wrD Dice.mm //rendering stuff http://pastebin.com/eBK0pzrK Effects.mm //shader stuff http://pastebin.com/5LtDAk8J //my shaders, shouldn't be anything to do with them though TL;DR: trying to use 2 different shaders that use the same vertex data, but its getting the models mixed up when rendering using both at the same time, well thats what i think is going wrong, quite stumped actually.

  • Model class for NSDictionary information with Lazy Loading

    - by samfu_1
    My application utilizes approx. 50+ .plists that are used as NSDictionaries. Several of my view controllers need access to the properties of the dictionaries, so instead of writing duplicate code to retrieve the .plist, convert the values to a dictionary, etc, each time I need the info, I thought a model class to hold the data and supply information would be appropriate. The application isn't very large, but it does handle a good deal of data. I'm not as skilled in writing model classes that conform to the MVC paradigm, and I'm looking for some strategies for this implementation that also supports lazy loading.. This model class should serve to supply data to any view controller that needs it and perform operations on the data (such as adding entries to dictionaries) when requested by the controller functions currently planned: returning the count on any dictionary adding one or more dictionaries together Currently, I have this method for supporting the count lookup for any dictionary. Would this be an example of lazy loading? -(NSInteger)countForDictionary: (NSString *)nameOfDictionary { NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *plistPath = [bundle pathForResource: nameOfDictionary ofType: @"plist"]; //load plist into dictionary NSMutableDictionary *dictionary = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile: plistPath]; NSInteger count = [dictionary count] [dictionary release]; [return count] }

  • iOS subview widget hooked up to multiple controllers

    - by Allison A
So, I want to create a reusable widget as a xib and subview that can appear on a set amount of specific screens. This widget will have three buttons, each with an Action. I want to be able to handle these actions on multiple viewcontrollers. So say ViewControllerA, ViewControllerD, and ViewControllerF can handle the three button events, each in their own way. I've created the nib file. How do I import it into the specific viewcontrollers, and then how do I wire up those events? EDIT: I know that I could potentially get outlets set up via a viewcontroller, but Apple states that UIViewController is for full-screen views only, and my widget is only taking up a small portion of the screen.

Hi all, I have a problem that i want to call a function when one of my functions that is running into a seperate thread comes to an end. its like that [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(fetchFeaturedFreeApps) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; here is my fetchFeaturedFreeApps function -(void)fetchFeaturedFreeApps { ////all my code [self performSelector:@selector(closeView) withObject:nil afterDelay:4.0]; } My problem is that the close view methods doesnt run after the 4 seconds. Hoew if i call the fetchFeaturedFreeApps method with perform selector then my closeview metod is called properly. Your valuable help is highly appreciated.

  • how do i get a layer's frame to automatically resize based on its superlayer's frame or its view's f

    - by Kevlar
I'm experimenting with using cagradientlayer to draw gradients in our app instead of having a subclass of uiview manage gradients. One snafu that i've come across is that when the view that has the gradient as a sublayer of its main layer gets resized to fit the data i am trying to show, the layer doesn't resize along with it. I end up having the gradient layer end at the original frame size while my view's frame is much larger. Is there a way to have the sublayer autoresize to fit its superlayer's frame, or the superlayer's view's frame?

  • UITableView - Color a selectede cell in table (remain colored)

    - by Liron Loop
Hi In my app i'm using a UITableViewController ("grouped style") which in one of its section I want the user to be able to see what he had selected by making this cell colored and other "uncolored". Doing it by updating all cells' background color and reloading table data, each time user touches a cell (in didSelectRowAtIndexPath:) Problem is that there is some processing made in the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: so the color doesn't get changed right a way, rather in a bit delay after touch was made. (I gusse the processing is the resone for the tiny delay) Is there a better way of doing it? Any help will be appreciated Liron P.S. I'm new to all of this...

  • Cocoa Bindings in the face of a million of items in an NSArray

    - by François Beausoleil
I'm writing a GUI for MongoDB using Cocoa. It's going well, but I don't know how to make KVO properties that would be lazily loaded. How does one handle that? For instance, viewing the documents in a Mongo collection. The collection might have a million items in it. I suspect I shouldn't be downloading the full 2-5 GiB of data to my Cocoa app, then format and display 20 rows. How does one implement that? I called my project Mongo Explorer, available on GitHub. Specifically, how would I code MECollection#reload to be lazy? Do I need to implement a data source delegate for my NSTableView?

  • How to break up HTML documents into pages for ebook?

    - by radnoise
For an iPhone ebook application I need to break arbitrarily long HTML documents up into pages which fit exactly on one screen. If I simply use UIWebView for this, the bottom-most lines tend to get displayed only partly: the rest disappears off the edge of the view. So I assume I would need to know how many complete lines (or characters) would be displayed by the UIWebView, given the source HTML, and then feed it exactly the right amount of data. This probably involves lots of calculation, and the user also needs to be able to change fonts and sizes. I have no idea if this is even possible, although apps like Stanza take HTML (epub) files and paginate them nicely. It's a long time since I looked at JavaScript, would that be an option worth looking at? Any suggestions very much appreciated!

  • Why does this TableView code work?

    - by nevan
I made a typo when creating a UITableViewCell with this code: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"CellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = [self.tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSLog(@"Creating cell"); cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } cell.textLabel.text = @"Hello"; return cell; } The typo is in using UITableViewStylePlain instead of UITableViewCellStyleDefault. The code worked fine, creating new cells. Why?

  • My UITabBarController isn't appearing, but its first view is?

    - by E-Madd
I've done some reorganizing of my project recently and now I'm not seeing my tab bar controller, but its first view controller's view is appearing. Here's a breakdown of everything that happens prior to the problem. App Delegate loads FirstViewController with nib. FirstViewController loads the application data from my server and then presents MainViewController with a modal transition. MainViewController is where the UITabBarController is supposed to be appearing. It's a very simple class. The .h @interface MainViewController : UIViewController <UITabBarControllerDelegate> { IBOutlet UITabBarController *tabBarController; } @property (nonatomic, retain) UITabBarController *tabBarController; @end The .m @implementation MainViewController @synthesize tabBarController; - (void)viewDidLoad { NSLog(@"MainViewController viewDidLoad"); //set tab bar controller delegate to self tabBarController.delegate = self; // home view HomeViewController *home = [[HomeViewController alloc] initWithTab]; // menu view MenuViewController *menu = [[MenuViewController alloc] initWithTab]; // special offers view SpecialOffersViewController *so = [[SpecialOffersViewController alloc] initWithTab]; // events view EventsViewController *events = [[EventsViewController alloc] initWithTab]; // info view InfoViewController *info = [[InfoViewController alloc] initWithTab]; //populate the tab bar controller with view controllers NSArray *controllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:home, menu, so, events, info, nil]; tabBarController.viewControllers = controllers; //release view controllers [home release]; [menu release]; [so release]; [events release]; [info release]; [controllers release]; //add tab bar controller to view [self.view addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [super viewDidLoad]; } and here's the bit from FirstViewController that modally presents the MainViewController... MainViewController *controller = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainViewController" bundle:nil]; controller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; I'm not getting any compiler errors or warnings and the app runs swell... no crashing. It just isn't showing the darned TabBar, and it used to when I was creating it on my AppDelegate. I checked everything in my NIB and my outlets seem to be hooked up ok. I have no idea what's happened. Help!

  • Count down timer

    - by Ohmnastrum
I have a timer set up and it gets called when ever the player is in their turn phase. I also have a multiplier that decrements slowly while the player is committing actions. for some odd reason my mult variable is returning garbage values I initialized it to 1 in the onLoad statement but it still seems to have trouble. -(void) Timerbar:(NSTimer *)barTimer { if(!waitForPlayer) { [barTimer invalidate]; } if(mult > 0.0) { mult -= 0.01; if(mult < 0) { mult = 0; } } power = (mult * 10) / pwrBarMaxWidth; pwrBarWidth = (int)power % limit; NSLog(@"%d", mult); } Do I have a syntax error somewhere?

  • How to specify the left, right, or title View button in XIB

    - by Sharen Eayrs
I do not want to create a custom navigation bar. I am pushing a UIViewController and I want to customize how the navigation bar looks for that UIViewController In story board, we just specify the segue and a nav bar show up on the screen. We just drag and drop UIBarItem to the left and right. In XIB, the navigationBar simply doesn't show up. I can add navigation Item but the one I added is ignored. I've heard that there used to be an outlet called navigationItem but it's deprecated for reason I do not know. I can add UINavigationBar, however that would be adding my own custom bar. I want the navBar that's provided by UINavigationController.

  • Application Design in Interface Builder Challenge

    - by Sheehan Alam
I want to design an app that launches other sub-apps. Main View will contain 4 buttons. Clicking on each button respectively will launch the other sub-apps. Each sub-app will have a UITabBarController which has its own different views. At any point I want the user to be able to go back to the Main View from any of the sub-apps. I am not sure how to design this in IB.

  • ApplicationDelegate is not doing its own job here ! Can anyone help me??

    - by ahmet732
(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { MaSystemGuiAppDelegate *appDelegate = (MaSystemGuiAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; appDelegate.deneme = [tableData objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] ; NSLog(@"my row", appDelegate.deneme); // THIS IS NOT PRINTING NSLog(@"my row = %@", [tableData objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]); //THIS IS PRINTING THE VALUE ON CONSOLE NSInteger row = [indexPath row]; if(self.searchDetailViewController == nil){ SearchDetailViewController *asearchDetail = [[SearchDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SearchDetailView" bundle:nil]; self.searchDetailViewController = asearchDetail; [asearchDetail release]; } searchDetailViewController.title = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", [searchArray objectAtIndex:row]]; MaSystemGuiAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [delegate.searchNavController pushViewController:searchDetailViewController animated:YES]; } "deneme" is a NMUtableArray is identified in MaSystemGuiAppDelegate.h (I identified it as a variable and put its property there) and I wrote "deneme= [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; in applicationDidFinishLaunching method in MaSystemGuiAppDelegate.m. In the code above, [tableData objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] is retrieving the one of the value touched on tableview. When I put that value in deneme (as u noticed in the code) it is printing nothing. What am i missing? (I imported MaSystemGuiAppDelegate.h)

  • Building a NSPredicate for a filter

    - by John
Hi, Just wondering what the best way to build a NSPredicate is if some filters are optional? This is basically for a filter, so if some options aren't selected I don't to filter by them eg. If I have option1 and option2 set for the filter. NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@ AND option2 = %@] .... otherwise if just option1 NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@] .... The key being there are 10 different options to filter, so I don't want to have to code for the 10x10 possible combinations. Thanks

  • How to calculate the touch location with convertToWorldSpace?

    - by Paul
i would like to convert the touch location as a world coordinate in my tile game. With this code, i clicked on the right of the screen (so that my character walks in the tiled game, and the background goes slowly to the left) : - (void)ccTouchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for( UITouch *touch in touches ) { CGPoint location = [touch locationInView: [touch view]]; location = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL: location]; CGPoint test = [self convertToWorldSpace:location]; CCLOG(@"test : %.2g", test.x); The test log gives me : 50, 72, 1e+02, 2.6e+02, 4.2e+02, (and then goes down) 3.2e+02, 9.5, -1.9e+02, etc. Does anyone know why? I would like to calculate the "real" coordinate of the touch, so that i know when the character has to keep going (click on the right of its actual position) or if he has to turn and go backwards. (click on the left of its actual position) Thanks for your help

  • NavigationController does not set view properties correctly when pushed

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have a UITabBarControllerDelegate that pushes a new view controller when a certain tab is pressed: - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { MyView* myView = [[[MyView alloc] initWithNibName:@"MyView" bundle:nil]autorelease]; if([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"Friends"]){ NSLog(@"Clicked Friends"); myView.reloadFriends = TRUE; [self.navigationController myView animated:YES]; } } However, if I change my code to set the tabbar's selected view controller to myView everything works, but I don't get my navigation bar: if([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"Friends"]){ NSLog(@"Clicked Friends"); myView.reloadFriends = TRUE; self.tabBarController.selectedViewController = myView; } How can I set the reloadFriends property in MyView and have the navigation bar at the top?
