  • php frameworks - build your own vs pre-made

    - by christopher-mccann
Hi, I am building an application currently in PHP and I am trying to decide on whether to use a pre-existing framework like codeigniter or build my own framework. The application needs to be really scalable and I want to be completely in control of it which makes me think I should build my own but at the same time I dont want to reinvent the wheel if I dont have to. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • PHP: Cookie only sent to http://www.xxx.com and NOT http://xxx.com

    - by Axel
Hi, I have a php login which sets 2 cookies once some one login. the problem is that if you login from : http://www.mydomain.com and you go to http://mydomain.com you will find your self not logged in, I think that's because the browser only send the cookies to the first syntax. It's only one domain, the difference is the www. before the domain name, so how to set cookies to the whole domain whatever there is www. or not ? Thanks

  • PHP: optimum configuration storage ?

    - by Jerome WAGNER
Hello, My application gets configured via a lot of key/values (let's say 30.000 for instance) I want to find the best deployment method for these configurations, knowing that I want to avoid DEFINEs to allow for runtime re-configuration. I have thought of - pre-compiling them into an array via a php file - pre-compiling them into a tmpfs sqlite database - pre-compiling them into a memcached db what are my options for the best random access time to these configuration (memory is not an issue) ? Thanks Jerome

  • Easiest PHP Shopping Cart to Skin

After frustration with installing custom designed skins for ZenCart, I was wondering which, if any, of the PHP shopping carts out there have a good templating system that makes it easy (or easier) to install custom designs?

  • PHP String Split

    - by deniz
I need to split a string into chunks of 2,2,3,3 characters and was able to do so in Perl by using unpack: unpack("A2A2A3A3", 'thisisloremipsum'); However the same function does not work in PHP, it gives this output: Array ( [A2A3A3] => th ) How can I do this by using unpack? I don't want to write a function for it, it should be possible with unpack but how? Thanks in advance,

  • Robust, Mature HTML Parser for PHP

    - by Alan Storm
Are there any robust and mature HTML parsers available for PHP? A quick skimming of PEAR didn't turn anything up (lots of classes for generating HTML, not so much for consuming), and Google taught me a lot of people have started and then abandoned a variety of parser projects. Not interested in XML parsers (unless then can consume non-well formed HTML) or hacking it on my own with regular expressions. Clarification of Intent: I'm not interested in filtering of HTML content, I'm interesting in extracting information from HTML documents.

  • PHP object access using string

    - by Rob Waring
Hi all, I have an object in PHP with some very odd property names. I just need to know how to access a property when it's name is "//www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#type". I found something that suggested $object->{'//www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#type'}; but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks in advance Rob

I am trying to install a copy of PHP 5 to my home directory on the school computer. The problem is that whenever I try, it complains that my copy of libxml2 is too outdated to work. Is there any way I can install this without upgrading libxml2, since I don't have permission to upgrade. Any suggestions?

  • Detect base64 encoding in PHP?

    - by Ian Silber
Is there some way to detect if a string has been base64_encoded() in PHP? We're converting some storage from plain text to base64 and part of it lives in a cookie that needs to be updated. I'd like to reset their cookie if the text has not yet been encoded, otherwise leave it alone.

  • PHP queue jobs in centOS

I wrote a PHP shell script which include queuing jobs in centOS with 'at' command. The queue jobs may vary in time and contents which means the system need to keep quite a large number of jobs. The application logic will also be a bit difficult to setup with cronjob. Is there a limit in number of queue jobs in centOS or is there any alternative way of queuing jobs?

  • Reading Foxpro database date field using PHP

    - by Bill Yang
I've wrote a PHP script to export a Foxpro database to other formats by using ADODB (http://phplens.com/lens/adodb) library to access Foxpro OLE DB provider. Everything worked fine except the date fields are mangled and become like these: 11/17-/2-00 3/4/-20-08 By comparing to actual data I can guess that it is probably in the format of MM/DD/YYYY or m/d/YYYY. How can I properly export the date field?
