  • Dell Upgrade to 12.04 LTS No wifi, graphic card driver and bluetooth Problem?

    (Dell inspiron m5040 Upgrade to 12.04 LTS from 11.10 wifi wont work and has two bluetooth icons?) Old title of post! No Wifi/Bluetooth Problem. "Both Fixed", see below comments for bluetooth fix and see bottom answer for wifi fix. My online upgrade of 12.04 LTS, was installed to my laptop the Dell inspiron m5040, when it was done i found that my wifi did not even get picked up anymore and i now have two bluetooth icons at the top?? So what i have been doing for now is at the boot screen. I hit the use previous linux version, this works fine but also has the two bluetooth at the top. Is very thankful for any answers for this fix, Thank You. Ok bluetooth problem solved by – fossfreedom answer by deleting the other bluetooth program running in software center. Now the other problem is Wifi: just have to restart system as it works in previous linux version boot opt, but on the first boot screen opt run ubuntu it will not pick up wifi drivers. Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4313-, BCM4321-,BCM4322-, BCM43224-, and BCM43225-, BCM43227- and BCM43228-basedhardware. And 3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for ATI cards. This driver is required to fully utilise the 3D potential of some ATI graphics cards, as well as provide 2D acceleration of newer cards. will not instill is there anyway for me to make a copy of the drivers via usb HDD and then put them on new upgraded version.

    I use a Nvidia Quadro NVS 290/PCIe/SSE2 at work with dual monitor setup. Since 11.10 things has gone downwards with performance. But now with 12.04 performance is even worse, and I can agree that the 290 is old and puny. So when I look what low profile cards I can get to my computer today, the choice it Radeon HD 6570 or NVIDIA Quadro 600. I have always used Nvidia on linux beq I think that historically their drivers worked better. But which one do you recommend today on 12.04 and Unity3d? -- Regards Falk

    So I have recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 for a dual boot with wind 7. After the install I had like 300 updates, so I installed them. At first I could use the internet, although it was extremely slow. However now I cannot, sometimes it will load and others it will simply time out. When I try to download something it will either take forever or will not at all. This is a wired system. On Windows side my speeds are fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also like I said I am new to Linux/Ubuntu so please be nice. One last thing, I also installed 11.10 for same dual boot on my laptop, and wireless speed is the same as on Windows? Only the wired desktop gives me the problem? Hear is some hardware info.. Hope it helps.     During the installation of my Ubuntu 12.10 I could use the wireless connection for extra updates. After the installation I updated Ubuntu and it installed 74 new updates, after that no wireless connection (say what!). So I did try some stuff, I followed the tutorial to load the windows drivers using ndiswrapper (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper) but I always get that the ndiswrapper module is not loaded (but I did install the extra 3 packages, still doesnt work). ndiswrapper-source ndiswrapper-dkms ndiswrapper-common Please somebody help!     I upgraded Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04, until which wireless was working just fine. After the upgrade and reboot, wireless is not even being detected (When I click the network manager icon in the top panel, it does not show the wireless networks. Neither the Enable wireless option is there). But my laptop's LED indicator shows wireless is on. This is a Dell Vostro 3450 laptop with: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)** (from lspci). Is any other info needed? How do I get Wifi working?

  • Why doesn't wireless work on Wubi 12.04 with a Broadcom BCM4312 card?

    I have recently set up ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop using the Wubi installer. I am having a very difficult time setting up a wireless internet connection. I am currently set up with an ethernet connection which I have used to download all new updates and to activate the Broadcom STA wireless driver. I have tried several things in the terminal based on other people's posts: ~$ rfkill list 0: brcmwl-0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes ~$ rfkill unblock all It doesn't change anything. I also tried rebooting and connecting to the internet on my Windows Vista OS, and it worked, so I know that the connection should not be hard blocked. I have also tried installing b43 firmware (lp/phy version) that is supposed to work with my chip (BCM4312). It seems to have no effect. Then I tried: ~$ iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth1 IEEE 802.11 Access Point: Not-Associated Link Quality:5 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0 eth0 no wireless extensions. This is my first time trying to work with ubuntu, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Also sorry this is poorly formatted. I'm having troubles with that too.

This works fine when you build the video server project, because the script is simply cd "$(SolutionDir)" start documentationgenerator However, there is also an SDK project that, when built, also builds the video server project. However, when it does this, it does not know where the shell script is, since it tries to use the SDK Project's Solution Directory. SDK Project Video Server Project shell script So the question is: how do I make the SDK Project find the Video Server Project? I checked the MSBuild properties and there are no properties that seem to deal with 'nested' projects.

I'm looking for a store to buy a suitable adaptor in locally and I can't find that particular adaptor - but I can see a Belkin F7D4101az. I think this is simply a newer model - but a Google search for "ubuntu belkin f7d4101az" brings no results - not even people trying to get it to work. Nothing. So I didn't want to purchase it without being sure.     I am trying to automate the encryption of files on a windows server using a .bat file I created. As long as the filename is hardcoded in the .bat file this works. I want to encrypt numerous files using this .bat file but files are not encrypted when I use wildcards in the filename like filename.txt. I've been trying various version of the following command at the DOS prompt to no avail. All attempts have returned syntax for usage. C:\gpg -v --batch -- yes --always-trust -e -r <encryption-key> *part-of-the-file-name* usage: gpg [options] --encrypt [filename] I received the same usage message with this command: C:\gpg -v --batch -- yes --always-trust -e -r --encrypt part-of-the-file-name I tried without the -v and some of the other options and I still received the same message. I have spent hours today searching the internet for an answer and I can't find one anywhere? Please help.

    I tried to install 12.04, 13.04, and now 13.10 on the machine and followed all the instructions that made sense that I could find and still have not gotten wifi to work. It keeps it hard blocked for some reason, not sure why and not sure anyone out there either has figured it out because I would have found it on Google. When I boot from the formatted USB drive, I have WiFi and everything working, why doesn't work after the USB drive is removed? What driver is the USB/wubi or whatever using so that I can install it and have things working? I could have used wubi and installed Ubuntu like that, but I want to make this machine a fully dedicated Ubuntu machine. The laptop is a Lenovo S205 in case anyone can help. I really would like to use 12.04 or higher, i don't want to downgrade to an older version of Ubuntu if at all possible.

    A friend and I are creating a card game for the iPhone, and in these early days of the project, I'm developing a Deck class and a Card class to keep up with the cards. I'm wanting to test the shuffle method of the Deck class, but I am not able to show the values of the cards in the Deck class instance. The Deck class has a NSArray of Card objects that have a method called displayCard that shows the value and suit using console output(printf or NSLog). In order to show what cards are in a Deck instance all at once, I am using this, [deck makeObjectsPerformSelector:@selector(displayCard)], where deck is the NSArray in the Deck class. Inside of the Deck class, nothing is displayed on the console output. But in a test file, it works just fine.     I have used a hdmi cable to connect my lcd (which is connected with my speakers) with my nvida 275 gtx grafic card. I can not get the sound output to work. The hardware itself is working probably - I tested it under windows. Currently I am running Kubuntu 9.10 64 with Nvidia 190.53. The sound output worked fine before I installed the hdmi connection.     This question already has an answer here: Is my mobile AMD card being used? 2 answers OS: Windows 8 CPU: Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 3635QM GPU 1 : Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU 2 : AMD Radeon™ HD 8870M other info: System Spects Problem: im unsure that CCC is using AMD card instead of Intel's, i have encountered several issues since updating to 8.1 and i don't know what to do What happened: Installed 8.1 patch first day After 1 minute of use, BBSOD, windows never loaded again System restore wouldnt recognize 8.0 restore points i did a system reset to windows 8 since the laptop was only 3 weeks old System Broke, it did restore to factory BUT kept the registry almost intact, i had to install almost everything again, since the factory drivers where working with the updated one's registry and several problems CCC Broke too <- What i've already done Installing new drivers on top of old ones didnt work, so i used AMD uninstaller first Uninstalled and Re-installed Intel's HD Graphics Driver Tried to install mobile center, but AMD told me that it wasnt compatible (even if thats the only driver that they provide via their page as seen Here) Tried to use Auto-Detect, couldnt install driver because card was disabled because it didnt have the drivers... (see what they did here?) Had to use a workaround with Samsung Update, the driver didnt appear as download so had to use search and downloaded the driver manually. Now the graphic card appears on device manager and catalyst but as 8800 series (not exact model), and cant check the card with neither dxdiag/GPU-z/HWMonitor when right-clicking on CCC only Intel card appears launching a game and using as "high performance" would speed it up a little but i cant be sure How to verify its working properly? HWMonitor wont show AMD card even when set to high performance Latest GPU-Z wont work because a problem with Intel's, and legacy ones wont either what can I do now? I don't even know if I fixed my problem or not, and i also want to to use Adobe Premier with it, and its locked (the option to run it with the amd card not intels) Edit: now it seems to work, but cant change the setting for adobe Premiere and other programs that i Need to

    Many desktop software (VLC, MPC) and have an option to 'zoom in' , 'crop black bars', or crop to a specific aspect ratio. How can we do this in Fullscreen on Youtube or other flash Video sites? I am the viewer, NOT the video's creator/publisher. iOS Can do this (double tap to zoom, which removes black bars, zoom depth not configurable). afaik, Desktop computers (and android devices), cannot do this on the fly. The only 'workaround' I've found is F11 and zooming of the entire web page - basically a fake full screen and zooming the web page beyond the screen size. Use Case: watching 4:3 flash videos from the web on a widescreen monitor. Looking for all creative solutions, including any software that accesses YouTube without using a web browser.

After changing that alsamixer showing that both centre and surround not muted with full volum.     I'm having an issue where my ethernet card (Atheros Communications Inc. AR8132 Fast Ethernet (rev c0)) refuses to recognize when a network cable is plugged in after a suspend. The ethernet card uses the atl1c driver and the wlan card uses the wl driver. Sorry, should have mentioned as well, running Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.2.0-25-generic.

    I have a mac mini (late 2012) i7, 16gb ram Vengeance graphic card intel HD4000. I buy recently a thunderbolt expansion PCIE whit support a graphic card PCIE 2.0 16x whit space for Full leght card. I have dubts about what graphic card gona give me the best results for using the Unreal Engine 4 UE4 or Unity3D, and Blender. My badget cover a Nvidia Quadro K4000 3gb or ATI Firepro W7000 4gb. Any recomendation? What professional graphic card can be better for design games in 3D? Thanks. DaCrAn
