  Hi stackies, I'm programmatically putting various TextViews into a LinearLayout with a horizontal orientation. After 2h of research I couldn't find out how to tell Android not to squeeze all the TextViews in one line but instead to "float" non-fitting TextViews into the next line. I know there isn't something like actual "lines" in a LinearLayout, but how can I tell the TextViews to actually behave like floating DIVs from the HTML world? Thanks alot! Be well S.

  Say I got two functions that looks like this: function main(Index) { doStuff(); } function doStuff() { if(Index == 1) { document.write("Hello world!") } } And some HTML: <input type="button" value="Click me" onclick="main(1)" /> I realize this is a very stupid way to use function-specific variables and such, but it's just out of curiosity. So is it possible to pass the variable Index from the main function to the doStuff function?

I'd like to be able to run the specs frequently but the JVM takes so long to startup it's becoming a real time drain.   I have looked at a couple of books and all I have looked at were just discussing the technicalities of OOP. By technicalities I mean, here's a concept, here's some code, now get working. I have yet to see a book that discusses the architectural process, what are the ways of doing this, why doing this is bad, how to actually incorporate design patterns in a real-world project, etc. Can you recommend a good resource or book? I am mainly programming with PHP but a language-agnostic book/resource would do :)

• Is it okay to use zoom:1 in my css classes?

  Whenever I find IE is displaying my website weird (different from chrome and firefox), I try putting a zoom:1 in the css class for the part that is being displayed weird. A lot of the time this fixes the problem and makes it look consistent with the other browsers. Is it a problem to use zoom:1? I know my CSS won't validate, but are there any real world problems that can arise if I rely too much on using zoom:1?
