I've replaced the word lenny to squeeze in sources.list and ran apt-get clean apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade But after a while, I get this error Preconfiguring packages ...   Running Postfix on Debian I cannot connect to send mail any more. It worked until approximately a week ago. I do not recall touching the configuration of the server during that time, which makes it difficult for me to find out what the problem is.   Hi everybody, I have a question about using Google Apps for handling emails. I don't want to set up a whole entire mail system on my server, so I decided to use Google Apps. The ownership of my domain is approved, and now I'm trying to change the MX records in the zone file of my domain. But I think I'm doing wrong, it doesn't work. • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

  I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong? I am using Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 and I tried to update the GNOME Online Accounts packages by downloading the following .deb files from packages.ubuntu.com for the Ubuntu 14.10 version: libgoa-backend-1.0-dev_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-backend-1.0-1_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-1.0-dev_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-1.0-0b_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb gnome-online-accounts_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb gir1.2-goa-1.0_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb After downloading them in the same folder, I run the command sudo dpkg -i *.deb, but it didn't install the packages, instead it showed errors due to packages which them depend doesn't meet the required version (and Ubuntu have no way to install them since they are not in this version's repositories). So now every time I want to install anything through apt-get, Ubuntu tells me to run apt-get -f install to fix the errors. • Remove a file on linux using the inode number

  If you create a file on UNIX/linux with special chars, like touch \"la*, you can't remove it with rm "la*. You have to use the inode number(you can if you add the \ before the name, I know, but you'd have to guess as a user that it was used in the file creation). I checked the manpage for rm, but there's no metion of the inode number. Doing rm inodenumber doesn't work either. What is the command for this?

• Show multiple calendars in overlay view by default

  In MS Outlook 2007/2010, it's possible to show multiple calendars overlayed on each other (a la Google Calendar; see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/view-calendars-side-by-side-or-overlaid-HA001230157.aspx#BM4). However, it appears that in order to do this, you must first open the calendars side-by-side and then press the little left-arrow button to "combine" them into an overlaid view. Is there a way to make "overlaid" the default view for multiple calendars (again, a la Google Calendar)?

• Command history in zsh

  Currently I have zsh set up in such a way that command history is shared between all sessions immediately. Say I have a terminal emulator open with two tabs, each with a zsh session, A1 and A2. If I enter ls -la in A1, and then go to A2 and press up arrow key, I will see ls -la in the command prompt. I would like to change it so sessions don't share the command history with each other although when you start new session it gets all the previous history from all sessions before it.

• Thoughts on ODTUG Kscope12

  The rodeo rocked! This wasn’t my first rodeo, and it wasn’t my first Kscope, but it was probably my favorite one. What is Kscope? It’s the annual conference for the Oracle Development Tools User Group. 1,000+ attendees from 20+ countries with an average Jeff Klout score of 65. I just made that metric and score up, but this conference attracts the best and brightest in the Oracle database space. I’m not just talking about the speakers either. The attendees are all top notch. They actively participate in sessions, make an effort to get to know their fellow conference mates, and often turn into volunteers and speakers. Developers that enjoy unit testing, understand the importance of modeling your data, and are eager to understand the Oracle CBO – these are traits that describe the ‘average’ ODTUG developer. 2012′s event was held in San Antonio. Yes, it was very hot. But this might have been the nicest Marriott property I’ve ever visited, and I’ve stayed at some nice ones in Hawaii and St. Thomas. They had free WiFi everywhere – the rooms, the Conference Center, the lobby, bars, everywhere. And it worked. The after hours events were very fun. I embarrassed myself several times, but that’s OK. The rodeo was an awesome event and the Thirsty Games experience was something I hope does not make it onto YouTube or Facebook — talking to you Chet Justice. I finally got to meet and spend some time with some folks I’ve always wanted to get to know better, @timothyjgorman, @alexgorbachev, @lj_dobson, @dschleis, @kentGraziano, @chriscmuir, @GaloBalda, @patch72, and many, many more! I even made some new friends thanks to the Mentor program and @carol_finn. 2013′s event will be in New Orleans. If you haven’t joined ODTUG or haven’t made it to Kscope, go ahead and mark your calendars. I had 3 presentations this year. Sunday’s was not a good performance, and I want to apologize to anyone who was there and was hoping for more. My Tips and Debugging sessions on Monday and Tuesday were more to my liking, and I enjoyed them as a presenter. I hope you enjoyed them as an attendee. I understand that my slidedecks were corrupted on the ODTUG site, and I’m working with the coordinator now to get those fixed ASAP. Apparently the 2 most well-received Tips was the /*CSV*/ formatting hint and recalling your previous SQL history via the keyboard. I’ll be doing a follow-up webinar with ODTUG in a few weeks for those members that weren’t able to see my Tips and Debugger sessions in San Antonio. I’ll be sure to post details on that here when I have the details. My next scheduled conference is Oracle Open World, and I may have a couple of shows after that to round out 2012.

I don't want extra columns like counts or anything, just a limited number of results, and it seems like it is not possible to directly LIMIT results in a JPQL query. • Apache on Win32: Slow Transfers of single, static files in HTTP, fast in HTTPS

  I have a weird problem with Apache 2.2.15 on Windows 2000 Server SP4. Basically, I am trying to serve larger static files, images, videos etc. The download seems to be capped at around 550kB/s even over 100Mbit LAN. I tried other protocols (FTP/FTPS/FTP+ES/SCP/SMB), and they are all in the multi-megabyte range. The strangest thing is that, when using Apache with HTTPS instead of HTTP, it serves very fast, around 2.7MByte/s! I also tried the AnalogX SimpleWWW server just to test the plain HTTP speed of it, and it gave me a healthy 3.3Mbyte/s. I am at a total loss here. I searched the web, and tried to change the following Apache configuration directives in httpd.conf, one at a time, mostly to no avail at all: SendBufferSize 1048576 #(tried multiples of that too, up to 100Mbytes) EnableSendfile Off #(minor performance boost) EnableMMAP Off Win32DisableAcceptEx HostnameLookups Off #(default) I also tried to tune the following registry parameters, setting their values to 4194304 in decimal (they are REG_DWORD), and rebooting afterwards: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters\DefaultReceiveWindow HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters\DefaultSendWindow Additionally, I tried to install mod_bw, which sets the event timer precision to 1ms, and allows for bandwidth throttling. According to some people it boosts static file serving performance when set to unlimited bandwidth for everybody. Unfortunately, it did nothing for me. So: AnalogX HTTP: 3300kB/s Gene6 FTPD, plain: 3500kB/s Gene6 FTPD, Implicit and Explicit SSL, AES256 Cipher: 1800-2000kB/s freeSSHD: 1100kB/s SMB shared folder: about 3000kB/s Apache HTTP, plain: 550kB/s Apache HTTPS: 2700kB/s Clients that were used in the bandwidth testing: Internet Explorer 8 (HTTP, HTTPS) Firefox 8 (HTTP, HTTPS) Chrome 13 (HTTP, HTTPS) Opera 11.60 (HTTP, HTTPS) wget under CygWin (HTTP, HTTPS) FileZilla (FTP, FTPS, FTP+ES, SFTP) Windows Explorer (SMB) Generally, transfer speeds are not too high, but that's because the server machine is an old quad Pentium Pro 200MHz machine with 2GB RAM. However, I would like Apache to serve at at least 2Mbyte/s instead of 550kB/s, and that already works with HTTPS easily, so I fail to see why plain HTTP is so crippled. I am using a Kerio Winroute Firewall, but no Throttling and no special filters peeking into HTTP traffic, just the plain Firewall functionality for blocking/allowing connections. The Apache error.log (Loglevel info) shows no warnings, no errors. Also nothing strange to be seen in access.log. I have already stripped down my httpd.conf to the bare minimum just to make sure nothing is interfering, but that didn't help either. If you have any idea, help would be greatly appreciated, since I am totally out of ideas! Thanks! Edit: I have now tried a newer Apache 2.2.21 to see if it makes any difference. However, the behaviour is exactly the same. Edit 2: KM01 has requested a sniff on the HTTP headers, so here comes the LiveHTTPHeaders output (an extension to Firefox). The Output is generated on downloading a single file called "elephantsdream_source.264", which is an H.264/AVC elementary video stream under an Open Source license. I have taken the freedom to edit the URL, removing folders and changing the actual servers domain name to www.mydomain.com. • Wrong DNS for just one site on development machine

  www.superyoink.de is my clients' website. I can access it from any machine except my development one. If I ping it on my development machine, I get 80.67.28.107 - this is wrong. My laptop, next to me, is able to resolve it correctly. I have tried putting correct address into hosts like so: 93.187.232.191 www.superyoink.de Still resolves to wrong address. I can enter bogus DNS server addresses so nothing works. But www.superyoink.de still resolves to 80.67.28.107. Rebooted, did ipconfig /flushdns nothing seems to work. I run 32 bit Vista. My impression is that it has stored the wrong dns resolution somewhere and is not even trying the DNS servers. But where? Help please!
