  • Design pattern question: encapsulation or inheritance

    - by Matt
    Hey all, I have a question I have been toiling over for quite a while. I am building a templating engine with two main classes Template.php and Tag.php, with a bunch of extension classes like Img.php and String.php. The program works like this: A Template object creates a Tag objects. Each tag object determines which extension class (img, string, etc.) to implement. The point of the Tag class is to provide helper functions for each extension class such as wrap('div'), addClass('slideshow'), etc. Each Img or String class is used to render code specific to what is required, so $Img->render() would give something like <img src='blah.jpg' /> My Question is: Should I encapsulate all extension functionality within the Tag object like so: Tag.php function __construct($namespace, $args) { // Sort out namespace to determine which extension to call $this->extension = new $namespace($this); // Pass in Tag object so it can be used within extension return $this; // Tag object } function render() { return $this->extension->render(); } Img.php function __construct(Tag $T) { $args = $T->getArgs(); $T->addClass('img'); } function render() { return '<img src="blah.jpg" />'; } Usage: $T = new Tag("img", array(...); $T->render(); .... or should I create more of an inheritance structure because "Img is a Tag" Tag.php public static create($namespace, $args) { // Sort out namespace to determine which extension to call return new $namespace($args); } Img.php class Img extends Tag { function __construct($args) { // Determine namespace then call create tag $T = parent::__construct($namespace, $args); } function render() { return '<img src="blah.jpg" />'; } } Usage: $Img = Tag::create('img', array(...)); $Img->render(); One thing I do need is a common interface for creating custom tags, ie I can instantiate Img(...) then instantiate String(...), I do need to instantiate each extension using Tag. I know this is somewhat vague of a question, I'm hoping some of you have dealt with this in the past and can foresee certain issues with choosing each design pattern. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks! Matt Mueller

  • WCF web service: response is 200/ok, but response body is empty

    - by user1021224
    I am creating a WCF web api service. My problem is that some methods return a 200/OK response, but the headers and the body are empty. In setting up my web service, I created an ADO.NET Entity Data Model. I chose ADO.NET DbContext Generator when I added a code generation item. In the Model.tt document, I changed HashSet and ICollection to List. I built my website. It used to be that when I coded a method to return a List of an entity (like List<Customer> or List<Employee> in the Northwind database), it worked fine. Over time, I could not return a List of any of those, and could only grab one entity. Now, it's gotten to a point where I can return a List<string> or List<int>, but not a List or an instance of any entity. When I try to get a List<AnyEntity>, the response is 200/OK, but the response headers and body are empty. I have tried using the debugger and Firefox's Web Console. Using FF's WC, I could only get an "undefined" status code. I am not sure where to go from here. EDIT: In trying to grab all Areas from the database, I do this: [WebGet(UriTemplate = "areas")] public List<a1Areas> AllAreas() { return context.a1Areas.ToList(); } I would appreciate any more methods for debugging this. Thanks in advance. Found the answer, thanks to Merlyn! In my Global.asax file, I forgot to comment out two lines that took care of proxies and disposing of my context object. The code is below: void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { var context = new AssignmentEntities(); context.Configuration.ProxyCreationEnabled = false; HttpContext.Current.Items["_context"] = context; } void Application_EndRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { var context = HttpContext.Current.Items["_context"] as AssignmentEntities; if (context != null) { context.Dispose(); } }

  • Undefined Behavior and Sequence Points Reloaded

    - by Nawaz
    Consider this topic a sequel of the following topic: Previous Installment Undefined Behavior and Sequence Points Let's revisit this funny and convoluted expression (the italicized phrases are taken from the above topic *smile* ): i += ++i; We say this invokes undefined-behavior. I presume that when say this, we implicitly assume that type of i is one of built-in types. So my question is: what if the type of i is a user-defined type? Say it's type is Index which is defined later in this post (see below). Would it still invoke undefined-behavior? If yes, why? Is it not equivalent to writing i.operator+=(i.operator ++()); or even syntactically simpler i.add(i.inc());? Or, do they too invoke undefined-behavior? If no, why not? After all, the object i gets modified twice between consecutive sequence points. Please recall the rule of thumb : an expression can modify an object's value only once between consecutive "sequence points. And if i += ++i is an expression, then it must invoke undefined-behavior. If so, then it's equivalents i.operator+=(i.operator ++()); and i.add(i.inc()); must also invoke undefined-behavior which seems to be untrue! (as far as I understand) Or, i += ++i is not an expression to begin with? If so, then what is it and what is the definition of expression? If it's an expression, and at the same time, it's behavior is also well-defined, then it implies that number of sequence points associated with an expression somehow depends on the type of operands involved in the expression. Am I correct (even partly)? By the way, how about this expression? a[++i] = i; //taken from the previous topic. but here type of `i` is Index. class Index { int state; public: Index(int s) : state(s) {} Index& operator++() { state++; return *this; } Index& operator+=(const Index & index) { state+= index.state; return *this; } operator int() { return state; } Index & add(const Index & index) { state += index.state; return *this; } Index & inc() { state++; return *this; } };

  • wrong operator() overload called

    - by user313202
    okay, I am writing a matrix class and have overloaded the function call operator twice. The core of the matrix is a 2D double array. I am using the MinGW GCC compiler called from a windows console. the first overload is meant to return a double from the array (for viewing an element). the second overload is meant to return a reference to a location in the array (for changing the data in that location. double operator()(int row, int col) const ; //allows view of element double &operator()(int row, int col); //allows assignment of element I am writing a testing routine and have discovered that the "viewing" overload never gets called. for some reason the compiler "defaults" to calling the overload that returns a reference when the following printf() statement is used. fprintf(outp, "%6.2f\t", testMatD(i,j)); I understand that I'm insulting the gods by writing my own matrix class without using vectors and testing with C I/O functions. I will be punished thoroughly in the afterlife, no need to do it here. Ultimately I'd like to know what is going on here and how to fix it. I'd prefer to use the cleaner looking operator overloads rather than member functions. Any ideas? -Cal the matrix class: irrelevant code omitted class Matrix { public: double getElement(int row, int col)const; //returns the element at row,col //operator overloads double operator()(int row, int col) const ; //allows view of element double &operator()(int row, int col); //allows assignment of element private: //data members double **array; //pointer to data array }; double Matrix::getElement(int row, int col)const{ //transform indices into true coordinates (from sorted coordinates //only row needs to be transformed (user can only sort by row) row = sortedArray[row]; result = array[usrZeroRow+row][usrZeroCol+col]; return result; } //operator overloads double Matrix::operator()(int row, int col) const { //this overload is used when viewing an element return getElement(row,col); } double &Matrix::operator()(int row, int col){ //this overload is used when placing an element return array[row+usrZeroRow][col+usrZeroCol]; } The testing program: irrelevant code omitted int main(void){ FILE *outp; outp = fopen("test_output.txt", "w+"); Matrix testMatD(5,7); //construct 5x7 matrix //some initializations omitted fprintf(outp, "%6.2f\t", testMatD(i,j)); //calls the wrong overload }

  • Lua and Objective C not running script.

    - by beta
    I am trying to create an objective c interface that encapsulates the functionality of storing and running a lua script (compiled or not.) My code for the script interface is as follows: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> #import "Types.h" #import "lua.h" #include "lualib.h" #include "lauxlib.h" @interface Script : NSObject<NSCoding> { @public s32 size; s8* data; BOOL done; } @property s32 size; @property s8* data; @property BOOL done; - (id) initWithScript: (u8*)data andSize:(s32)size; - (id) initFromFile: (const char*)file; - (void) runWithState: (lua_State*)state; - (void) encodeWithCoder: (NSCoder*)coder; - (id) initWithCoder: (NSCoder*)coder; @end #import "Script.h" @implementation Script @synthesize size; @synthesize data; @synthesize done; - (id) initWithScript: (s8*)d andSize:(s32)s { self = [super init]; self->size = s; self->data = d; return self; } - (id) initFromFile:(const char *)file { FILE* p; p = fopen(file, "rb"); if(p == NULL) return [super init]; fseek(p, 0, SEEK_END); s32 fs = ftell(p); rewind(p); u8* buffer = (u8*)malloc(fs); fread(buffer, 1, fs, p); fclose(p); return [self initWithScript:buffer andSize:size]; } - (void) runWithState: (lua_State*)state { if(luaL_loadbuffer(state, [self data], [self size], "Script") != 0) { NSLog(@"Error loading lua chunk."); return; } lua_pcall(state, 0, LUA_MULTRET, 0); } - (void) encodeWithCoder: (NSCoder*)coder { [coder encodeInt: size forKey: @"Script.size"]; [coder encodeBytes:data length:size forKey:@"Script.data"]; } - (id) initWithCoder: (NSCoder*)coder { self = [super init]; NSUInteger actualSize; size = [coder decodeIntForKey: @"Script.size"]; data = [[coder decodeBytesForKey:@"Script.data" returnedLength:&actualSize] retain]; return self; } @end Here is the main method: #import "Script.h" int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { Script* script = [[Script alloc] initFromFile:"./test.lua"]; lua_State* state = luaL_newstate(); luaL_openlibs(state); luaL_dostring(state, "print(_VERSION)"); [script runWithState:state]; luaL_dostring(state, "print(_VERSION)"); lua_close(state); } And the lua script is just: print("O Hai World!") Loading the file is correct, but I think it messes up at pcall. Any Help is greatly appreciated. Heading

  • How to hide Amazon webstore default toolbar with Prototype?

    - by melaos
    Hi Guys, after playing around this morning, i've found that there's this default chunk of html code in the amazon webstore which will add a toolbar on top of the page. the html looks like below: <td id="wba_logo_bg"> <table class="logo" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tbody><tr><td align="left"></td> <td class="wba_account" style="padding: 5px;" align="right" valign="top"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <form action="#" id="searchForm" method="get" name="searchForm"></form> <tbody><tr><td class="wba_account_link"> <a xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" class="myAccountNav" href="#" onclick="return false;">home</a></td> <td class="myAccountDots"></td> <td class="wba_account_link"><a class="myAccountNav" href="#" onclick="return false;">view cart</a></td> <td class="myAccountDots"></td><td class="wba_account_link"><a class="myAccountNav" href="#" onclick="return false;">my account</a></td> <td class="myAccountDots"></td><td class="wba_account_link"><a class="myAccountNav" href="#" onclick="return false;">order status</a></td> <td><img src="pageEditor_files/1_pixel.gif" hspace="7"></td> <td><input name="keyword" tabindex="1" type="text"></td> <td><img alt="Search" class="wba_search_btn" onclick="return false;" onkeyup="if (13==event.keyCode) searchForm.submit();" src="pageEditor_files/btn_search.gif" style="cursor: pointer;" tabindex="2" title="Search" hspace="3"> </td></tr></tbody> </table> </td></tr></tbody> </table> </td> and thus far i was able to use prototype to find those with the class name of wba_account_link and hide them via the codes below: function hideAmazonToolbar() { $("wba_logo_bg").hide(); }//end function but what i really want to do is preferably to hide the whole tbody instead, but with my limited prototype skills, i don't really know how to do this. can anybody point me to the right resources on how to get this done? thanks! EDIT Went higher up and apparently there's a td with an id, and solve it using prototype hide function! man, i love javascript framework :) thanks :)

  • android zxing intentintegrator

    - by cristi _b
    I've written the following code that works fine if you decide to scan a QR code (using zxing) and store it in private storage but in case you decide to cancel scanning, it crashes and the file previously stored content disappears. I think it might be a design error, not sure why. Below is relevant code ... /** * menu generation */ @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { MenuInflater inflater = getMenuInflater(); inflater.inflate(R.menu.menu, menu); return true; } /** * menu handling */ @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { Context context = getApplicationContext(); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(context, "", Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL, 0, 0); switch (item.getItemId()) { case R.id.qrScan: IntentIntegrator integrator = new IntentIntegrator(this); integrator.initiateScan(); return true; case R.id.qrReset: File dir = getFilesDir(); File file = new File(dir, qrCodeFile); boolean deleted = file.delete(); return true; case R.id.appClose: this.finish(); return true; default: return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item); } } ... public void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent intent) { IntentResult scanResult = IntentIntegrator.parseActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, intent); Context context = getApplicationContext(); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(context, "", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT); if (scanResult != null) { FileOutputStream fos = null; CharSequence text = scanResult.getContents(); try { fos = openFileOutput(qrCodeFile, Context.MODE_PRIVATE); try { fos.write(text.toString().getBytes()); fos.close(); toast.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL, 0, 0); toast.setText("Code saved"); toast.show(); } catch (IOException ex) { toast.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL, 0, 0); toast.setText("Invalid code"); toast.show(); Logger.getLogger(MainActivity.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } catch (FileNotFoundException ex) { toast.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL, 0, 0); toast.setText("Error while saving"); toast.show(); Logger.getLogger(MainActivity.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } else { toast.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL, 0, 0); toast.setText("Invalid code"); toast.show(); } }

  • asp.net repeater returns weird html

    - by emre
    I have a repeater that is supposed to create div tags with their onclick functions from databind. Which is like onclick='<%# "functionname('" + Eval("somestring") +"');" %>' but the single quotes ' after the js func ( and before ) , they become something like ?,= .. I don't understand what's happening. .. the full code is below <div id="dvPager"> <asp:Repeater ID="pagerSorular" runat="server"> <ItemTemplate> <div class='<%# "pageritem pagertext" + ((this.PageNumber == int.Parse(Container.DataItem.ToString())) ? " pagerselected" : "") %>' onclick='<%# "gotopage('" + this.PageName + "', " + Container.DataItem + ");" %>'> <%# Container.DataItem %> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </div> and codebehind is: public int PageNumber { get { string strPgNum = Request.QueryString["pg"] as String; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(strPgNum)) { int pgnum; if (int.TryParse(strPgNum, out pgnum)) { if (pgnum <= 0) { return pgnum; } else { return 1; } } else { return 1; } } else { return 1; } } } public string PageName { get { string url = Request.Url.ToString(); string[] parts = url.Split(new char[]{'/'}); return parts[parts.Length - 1]; } } public void Doldur(List<SoruGridView> sorulistesi) { gridSorular.DataSource = sorulistesi; gridSorular.DataBind(); /// PagerYap(sorulistesi); } protected void PagerYap(List<SoruGridView> sorulistesi) { List<int> numpgs = new List<int>(); int count = 1; foreach (SoruGridView sgv in sorulistesi) { numpgs.Add(count); count++; } pagerSorular.DataSource = numpgs.ToArray(); pagerSorular.DataBind(); }

  • NHibernate FetchMode.Lazy

    - by RyanFetz
    I have an object which has a property on it that has then has collections which i would like to not load in a couple situations. 98% of the time i want those collections fetched but in the one instance i do not. Here is the code I have... Why does it not set the fetch mode on the properties collections? [DataContract(Name = "ThemingJob", Namespace = "")] [Serializable] public class ThemingJob : ServiceJob { [DataMember] public virtual Query Query { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Results { get; set; } } [DataContract(Name = "Query", Namespace = "")] [Serializable] public class Query : LookupEntity<Query>, DAC.US.Search.Models.IQueryEntity { [DataMember] public string QueryResult { get; set; } private IList<Asset> _Assets = new List<Asset>(); [IgnoreDataMember] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlIgnore] public IList<Asset> Assets { get { return _Assets; } set { _Assets = value; } } private IList<Theme> _Themes = new List<Theme>(); [IgnoreDataMember] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlIgnore] public IList<Theme> Themes { get { return _Themes; } set { _Themes = value; } } private IList<Affinity> _Affinity = new List<Affinity>(); [IgnoreDataMember] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlIgnore] public IList<Affinity> Affinity { get { return _Affinity; } set { _Affinity = value; } } private IList<Word> _Words = new List<Word>(); [IgnoreDataMember] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlIgnore] public IList<Word> Words { get { return _Words; } set { _Words = value; } } } using (global::NHibernate.ISession session = NHibernateApplication.GetCurrentSession()) { global::NHibernate.ICriteria criteria = session.CreateCriteria(typeof(ThemingJob)); global::NHibernate.ICriteria countCriteria = session.CreateCriteria(typeof(ThemingJob)); criteria.AddOrder(global::NHibernate.Criterion.Order.Desc("Id")); var qc = criteria.CreateCriteria("Query"); qc.SetFetchMode("Assets", global::NHibernate.FetchMode.Lazy); qc.SetFetchMode("Themes", global::NHibernate.FetchMode.Lazy); qc.SetFetchMode("Affinity", global::NHibernate.FetchMode.Lazy); qc.SetFetchMode("Words", global::NHibernate.FetchMode.Lazy); pageIndex = Convert.ToInt32(pageIndex) - 1; // convert to 0 based paging index criteria.SetMaxResults(pageSize); criteria.SetFirstResult(pageIndex * pageSize); countCriteria.SetProjection(global::NHibernate.Criterion.Projections.RowCount()); int totalRecords = (int)countCriteria.List()[0]; return criteria.List<ThemingJob>().ToPagedList<ThemingJob>(pageIndex, pageSize, totalRecords); }

  • Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StackOverflowError

    - by Ray.R.Chua
    I have a piece of code and I could not figure out why it is giving me Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StackOverflowError. This is the question: Given a positive integer n, prints out the sum of the lengths of the Syracuse sequence starting in the range of 1 to n inclusive. So, for example, the call: lengths(3) will return the the combined length of the sequences: 1 2 1 3 10 5 16 8 4 2 1 which is the value: 11. lengths must throw an IllegalArgumentException if its input value is less than one. My Code: import java.util.HashMap; public class Test { HashMap<Integer,Integer> syraSumHashTable = new HashMap<Integer,Integer>(); public Test(){ } public int lengths(int n)throws IllegalArgumentException{ int sum =0; if(n < 1){ throw new IllegalArgumentException("Error!! Invalid Input!"); } else{ for(int i =1; i<=n;i++){ if(syraSumHashTable.get(i)==null) { syraSumHashTable.put(i, printSyra(i,1)); sum += (Integer)syraSumHashTable.get(i); } else{ sum += (Integer)syraSumHashTable.get(i); } } return sum; } } private int printSyra(int num, int count){ int n = num; if(n == 1){ return count; } else{ if(n%2==0){ return printSyra(n/2, ++count); } else{ return printSyra((n*3)+1, ++count) ; } } } } Driver code: public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub Test s1 = new Test(); System.out.println(s1.lengths(90090249)); //System.out.println(s1.lengths(5)); } . I know the problem lies with the recursion. The error does not occur if the input is a small value, example: 5. But when the number is huge, like 90090249, I got the Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StackOverflowError. Thanks all for your help. :) I almost forgot the error msg: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StackOverflowError at Test.printSyra(Test.java:60) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:65) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:60) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:65) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:60) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:60) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:60) at Test.printSyra(Test.java:60)

  • Error Serializing a CLR object for use in a WCF service

    - by user208662
    Hello, I have written a custom exception object. The reason for this is I want to track additional information when an error occurs. My CLR object is defined as follows: public class MyException : Exception { public override string StackTrace { get { return base.StackTrace; } } private readonly string stackTrace; public override string Message { get { return base.Message; } } private readonly string message; public string Element { get { return element; } } private readonly string element; public string ErrorType { get { return errorType; } } private readonly string errorType; public string Misc { get { return misc; } } private readonly string misc; #endregion Properties #region Constructors public MyException() {} public MyException(string message) : base(message) { } public MyException(string message, Exception inner) : base(message, inner) { } public MyException(string message, string stackTrace) : base() { this.message = message; this.stackTrace = stackTrace; } public MyException(string message, string stackTrace, string element, string errorType, string misc) : base() { this.message = message; this.stackTrace = stackTrace; this.element = element; this.errorType = errorType; this.misc = misc; } protected MyException(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) : base(info, context) { element = info.GetString("element"); errorType = info.GetString("errorType"); misc = info.GetString("misc"); } public override void GetObjectData(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) { base.GetObjectData(info, context); info.AddValue("element", element); info.AddValue("errorType", errorType); info.AddValue("misc", misc); } } I have created a copy of this custom xception in a WP7 application. The only difference is, I do not have the GetObjectData method defined or the constructor with SerializationInfo defined. If I run the application as is, I receive an error that says: Type 'My.MyException' cannot be serialized. Consider marking it with the DataContractAttribute attribute, and marking all of its members you want serialized with the DataMemberAttribute attribute. If the type is a collection, consider marking it with the CollectionDataContractAttribute. If I add the DataContract / DataMember attributes to the class and its appropriate members on the server-side, I receive an error that says: Type cannot be ISerializable and have DataContractAttribute attribute. How do I serialize MyException so that I can pass an instance of it to my WCF service. Please note, I want to use my service from an Android app. Because of this, I don't want to do anything too Microsoft centric. That was my fear with DataContract / DataMember stuff. Thank you so much for your help!

  • stop and split generated sequence at repeats - clojure

    - by fitzsnaggle
    I am trying to make a sequence that will only generate values until it finds the following conditions and return the listed results: case head = 0 - return {:origin [all generated except 0] :pattern 0} 1 - return {:origin nil :pattern [all-generated-values] } repeated-value - {:origin [values-before-repeat] :pattern [values-after-repeat] { ; n = int ; x = int ; hist - all generated values ; Keeps the head below x (defn trim-head [head x] (loop [head head] (if (> head x) (recur (- head x)) head))) ; Generates the next head (defn next-head [head x n] (trim-head (* head n) x)) (defn row [x n] (iterate #(next-head % x n) n)) ; Generates a whole row - ; Rows are a max of x - 1. (take (- x 1) (row 11 3)) Examples of cases to stop before reaching end of row: [9 8 4 5 6 7 4] - '4' is repeated so STOP. Return preceding as origin and rest as pattern. {:origin [9 8] :pattern [4 5 6 7]} [4 5 6 1] - found a '1' so STOP, so return everything as pattern {:origin nil :pattern [4 5 6 1]} [3 0] - found a '0' so STOP {:origin [3] :pattern [0]} :else if the sequences reaches a length of x - 1: {:origin [all values generated] :pattern nil} The Problem I have used partition-by with some success to split the groups at the point where a repeated value is found, but would like to do this lazily. Is there some way I can use take-while, or condp, or the :while clause of the for loop to make a condition that partitions when it finds repeats? Some Attempts (take 2 (partition-by #(= 1 %) (row 11 4))) (for [p (partition-by #(stop-match? %) head) (iterate #(next-head % x n) n) :while (or (not= (last p) (or 1 0 n) (nil? (rest p))] {:origin (first p) :pattern (concat (second p) (last p))})) # Updates What I really want to be able to do is find out if a value has repeated and partition the seq without using the index. Is that possible? Something like this - { (defn row [x n] (loop [hist [n] head (gen-next-head (first hist) x n) steps 1] (if (>= (- x 1) steps) (case head 0 {:origin [hist] :pattern [0]} 1 {:origin nil :pattern (conj hist head)} ; Speculative from here on out (let [p (partition-by #(apply distinct? %) (conj hist head))] (if-not (nil? (next p)) ; One partition if no repeats. {:origin (first p) :pattern (concat (second p) (nth 3 p))} (recur (conj hist head) (gen-next-head head x n) (inc steps))))) {:origin hist :pattern nil}))) }

  • Java.lang.reflext.Proxy returning another proxy from invocation results in ClassCastException on ass

    - by matao
    So I'm playing with geotools and I thought I'd proxy one of their data-access classes and trace how it was being used in their code. I coded up a dynamic proxy and wrapped a FeatureSource (interface) in it and off it went happily. Then I wanted to look at some of the transitive objects returned by the featureSource as well, since the main thing a FeatureSource does is return a FeatureCollection (FeatureSource is analogous to a sql DataSource and featurecollection to an sql statement). in my invocationhandler I just passed the call through to the underlying object, printing out the target class/method/args and result as I went, but for calls that returned a FeatureCollection (another interface), I wrapped that object in my proxy (the same class but a new instance, shouldn't matter should it?) and returned it. BAM! Classcast exception: java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy5 cannot be cast to org.geotools.feature.FeatureCollection at $Proxy4.getFeatures(Unknown Source) at MyClass.myTestMethod(MyClass.java:295) the calling code: FeatureSource<SimpleFeatureType, SimpleFeature> featureSource = ... // create the FS featureSource = (FeatureSource<SimpleFeatureType, SimpleFeature>) FeatureSourceProxy.newInstance(featureSource, features); featureSource.getBounds();// ok featureSource.getSupportedHints();// ok DefaultQuery query1 = new DefaultQuery(DefaultQuery.ALL); FeatureCollection<SimpleFeatureType, SimpleFeature> results = featureSource.getFeatures(query1); //<- explosion here the Proxy: public class FeatureSourceProxy implements java.lang.reflect.InvocationHandler { private Object target; private List<SimpleFeature> features; public static Object newInstance(Object obj, List<SimpleFeature> features) { return java.lang.reflect.Proxy.newProxyInstance( obj.getClass().getClassLoader(), obj.getClass().getInterfaces(), new FeatureSourceProxy(obj, features) ); } private FeatureSourceProxy(Object obj, List<SimpleFeature> features) { this.target = obj; this.features = features; } public Object invoke(Object proxy, Method m, Object[] args)throws Throwable{ Object result = null; try { if("getFeatures".equals(m.getName())){ result = interceptGetFeatures(m, args); } else{ result = m.invoke(target, args); } } catch (Exception e) { throw new RuntimeException("unexpected invocation exception: " + e.getMessage(), e); } return result; } private Object interceptGetFeatures(Method m, Object[] args) throws Exception{ return newInstance(m.invoke(target, args), features); } } Is it possible to dynamically return proxies of interfaces from a proxied interface or am I doing something wrong? cheers!

  • Custom Class to store the properties and passing the class object across the pages - ASP.NEt

    - by NLV
    Hello I've a requirement where i need to pass some objects across the pages. So i created a custom class with all the properties required and created a instance of it and assigned all the properties appropriately. I then put that object in the session and took it the other page. The problem is that even when i set the properties values to the class it is coming as null. I set a breakpoint in the getter-setter and saw that the value itself is coming as null. Code - public class GetDataSetForReports { private Table m_aspTable; private int m_reportID; private string m_accountKey; private string m_siteKey; private string m_imUserName; /// <summary> /// Asp Table containing the filters /// </summary> public Table aspTable { get { return m_aspTable; } set { m_aspTable = aspTable; } } /// <summary> /// Report ID /// </summary> public int reportID { get { return m_reportID; } set { m_reportID = reportID; } } /// <summary> /// All the accounts selected /// </summary> public string accountKey { get { return m_accountKey; } set { m_accountKey = accountKey; } } /// <summary> /// All the sites selected /// </summary> public string siteKey { get { return m_siteKey; } set { m_siteKey = siteKey; } } /// <summary> /// Current User Name /// </summary> public string imUserName { get { return m_imUserName; } set { m_imUserName = imUserName; } } } This is how i'm creating an instance in the page1 and trying to get it in the page2. Page1 Code //Add the objects to the GetDataSetForReports Class GetDataSetForReports oGetDSForReports = new GetDataSetForReports(); oGetDSForReports.aspTable = aspTable; oGetDSForReports.reportID = iReportID; oGetDSForReports.accountKey = AccountKey; oGetDSForReports.siteKey = Sitekey; oGetDSForReports.imUserName = this.imUserName.ToString(); But the values are not getting set at all. The values are not passing to the class (to the setter) at all. Am i making any OOPS blunder? Any ideas? NLV

  • Mocking objects with complex Lambda Expressions as parameters

    - by iCe
    Hi there, I´m encountering this problem trying to mock some objects that receive complex lambda expressions in my projects. Mostly with with proxy objects that receive this type of delegate: Func<Tobj, Fun<TParam1, TParam2, TResult>> I have tried to use Moq as well as RhinoMocks to acomplish mocking those types of objects, however both fail. (Moq fails with NotSupportedException, and in RhinoMocks simpy does not satisgy expectation). This is simplified example of what I´m trying to do: I have a Calculator object that does calculations: public class Calculator { public Calculator() { } public int Add(int x, int y) { var result = x + y; return result; } public int Substract(int x, int y) { var result = x - y; return result; } } I need to validate parameters on every method in the Calculator class, so to keep with the Single Responsability principle, I create a validator class. I wire everything up using a Proxy class, that prevents having duplicate code: public class CalculatorProxy : CalculatorExample.ICalculatorProxy { private ILimitsValidator _validator; public CalculatorProxy(Calculator _calc, ILimitsValidator _validator) { this.Calculator = _calc; this._validator = _validator; } public int Operation(Func&lt;Calculator, Func&lt;int, int, int&gt;&gt; operation, int x, int y) { _validator.ValidateArgs(x, y); var calcMethod = operation(this.Calculator); var result = calcMethod(x, y); _validator.ValidateResult(result); return result; } public Calculator Calculator { get; private set; } } Now, I´m testing a component that does use the CalculatorProxy, so I want to mock it, for example using Rhino Mocks: [TestMethod] public void ParserWorksWithCalcultaroProxy() { var calculatorProxyMock = MockRepository.GenerateMock&lt;ICalculatorProxy&gt;(); calculatorProxyMock.Expect(x =&gt; x.Calculator).Return(_calculator); calculatorProxyMock.Expect(x =&gt; x.Operation(c =&gt; c.Add, 2, 2)).Return(4); var mathParser = new MathParser(calculatorProxyMock); mathParser.ProcessExpression("2 + 2"); calculatorProxyMock.VerifyAllExpectations(); } However I cannot get it to work! Any ideas about how this can be done? Thanks a lot!

  • How build my own Application Setting

    - by adisembiring
    I want to build a ApplicationSetting for my application. The ApplicationSetting can be stored in a properties file or in a database table. The settings are stored in key-value pairs. E.g. ftp.host = blade ftp.username = dummy ftp.pass = pass content.row_pagination = 20 content.title = How to train your dragon. I have designed it as follows: Application settings reader: interface IApplicationSettingReader { read(); } DatabaseApplicationSettingReader { dao appSettingDao; AppSettings read() { List<AppSettingEntity> listEntity = appSettingsDao.findAll(); Map<String, String> map = new HaspMap<String, String>(); foreach (AppSettingEntity entity : listEntity) { map.put(entity.getConfigName(), entity.getConfigValue()); } return new AppSettings(map); } } DatabaseApplicationSettingReader { dao appSettingDao; AppSettings read() { //read from some properties file return new AppSettings(map); } } Application settings class: AppSettings { private static AppSettings instance; private Map map; Public AppSettings(Map map) { this.map = map; } public static AppSettings getInstance() { if (instance == null) { throw new RuntimeException("Object not configure yet"); } return instance; } public static configure(IApplicationSettingReader reader) { instance = reader.read(); } public String getFtpSetting(String param) { return map.get("ftp." + param); } public String getContentSetting(String param) { return map.get("content." + param); } } Test class: AppSettingsTest { IApplicationSettingReader reader; @Before public void setUp() throws Exception { reader = new DatabaseApplicationSettingReader(); } @Test public void getContentSetting_should_get_content_title() { AppSettings.configure(reader); Instance settings = AppSettings.getInstance(); String title = settings.getContentSetting("title"); assertNotNull(title); Sysout(title); } } My questions are: Can you give your opinion about my code, is there something wrong? I configure my application setting once, while the application start, I configure the application setting with appropriate reader (DbReader or PropertiesReader), I make it singleton. The problem is, when some user edit the database or file directly to database or file, I can't get the changed values. Now, I want to implement something like ApplicationSettingChangeListener. So if the data changes, I will refresh my application settings. Do you have any suggestions how this can be implemented?

  • How do I print out objects in an array in python?

    - by Jonathan
    I'm writing a code which performs a k-means clustering on a set of data. I'm actually using the code from a book called collective intelligence by O'Reilly. Everything works, but in his code he uses the command line and i want to write everything in notepad++. As a reference his line is >>>kclust=clusters.kcluster(data,k=10) >>>[rownames[r] for r in k[0]] Here is my code: from PIL import Image,ImageDraw def readfile(filename): lines=[line for line in file(filename)] # First line is the column titles colnames=lines[0].strip( ).split('\t')[1:] rownames=[] data=[] for line in lines[1:]: p=line.strip( ).split('\t') # First column in each row is the rowname rownames.append(p[0]) # The data for this row is the remainder of the row data.append([float(x) for x in p[1:]]) return rownames,colnames,data from math import sqrt def pearson(v1,v2): # Simple sums sum1=sum(v1) sum2=sum(v2) # Sums of the squares sum1Sq=sum([pow(v,2) for v in v1]) sum2Sq=sum([pow(v,2) for v in v2]) # Sum of the products pSum=sum([v1[i]*v2[i] for i in range(len(v1))]) # Calculate r (Pearson score) num=pSum-(sum1*sum2/len(v1)) den=sqrt((sum1Sq-pow(sum1,2)/len(v1))*(sum2Sq-pow(sum2,2)/len(v1))) if den==0: return 0 return 1.0-num/den class bicluster: def __init__(self,vec,left=None,right=None,distance=0.0,id=None): self.left=left self.right=right self.vec=vec self.id=id self.distance=distance def hcluster(rows,distance=pearson): distances={} currentclustid=-1 # Clusters are initially just the rows clust=[bicluster(rows[i],id=i) for i in range(len(rows))] while len(clust)>1: lowestpair=(0,1) closest=distance(clust[0].vec,clust[1].vec) # loop through every pair looking for the smallest distance for i in range(len(clust)): for j in range(i+1,len(clust)): # distances is the cache of distance calculations if (clust[i].id,clust[j].id) not in distances: distances[(clust[i].id,clust[j].id)]=distance(clust[i].vec,clust[j].vec) #print 'i' #print i #print #print 'j' #print j #print d=distances[(clust[i].id,clust[j].id)] if d<closest: closest=d lowestpair=(i,j) # calculate the average of the two clusters mergevec=[ (clust[lowestpair[0]].vec[i]+clust[lowestpair[1]].vec[i])/2.0 for i in range(len(clust[0].vec))] # create the new cluster newcluster=bicluster(mergevec,left=clust[lowestpair[0]], right=clust[lowestpair[1]], distance=closest,id=currentclustid) # cluster ids that weren't in the original set are negative currentclustid-=1 del clust[lowestpair[1]] del clust[lowestpair[0]] clust.append(newcluster) return clust[0] def kcluster(rows,distance=pearson,k=4): # Determine the minimum and maximum values for each point ranges=[(min([row[i] for row in rows]),max([row[i] for row in rows])) for i in range(len(rows[0]))] # Create k randomly placed centroids clusters=[[random.random( )*(ranges[i][1]-ranges[i][0])+ranges[i][0] for i in range(len(rows[0]))] for j in range(k)] lastmatches=None for t in range(100): print 'Iteration %d' % t bestmatches=[[] for i in range(k)] # Find which centroid is the closest for each row for j in range(len(rows)): row=rows[j] bestmatch=0 for i in range(k): d=distance(clusters[i],row) if d<distance(clusters[bestmatch],row): bestmatch=i bestmatches[bestmatch].append(j) # If the results are the same as last time, this is complete if bestmatches==lastmatches: break lastmatches=bestmatches # Move the centroids to the average of their members for i in range(k): avgs=[0.0]*len(rows[0]) if len(bestmatches[i])>0: for rowid in bestmatches[i]: for m in range(len(rows[rowid])): avgs[m]+=rows[rowid][m] for j in range(len(avgs)): avgs[j]/=len(bestmatches[i]) clusters[i]=avgs return bestmatches

  • CLR 4.0 inlining policy? (maybe bug with MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)

    - by ControlFlow
    I've testing some new CLR 4.0 behavior in method inlining (cross-assembly inlining) and found some strage results: Assembly ClassLib.dll: using System.Diagnostics; using System; using System.Reflection; using System.Security; using System.Runtime.CompilerServices; namespace ClassLib { public static class A { static readonly MethodInfo GetExecuting = typeof(Assembly).GetMethod("GetExecutingAssembly"); public static Assembly Foo(out StackTrace stack) // 13 bytes { // explicit call to GetExecutingAssembly() stack = new StackTrace(); return Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); } public static Assembly Bar(out StackTrace stack) // 25 bytes { // reflection call to GetExecutingAssembly() stack = new StackTrace(); return (Assembly) GetExecuting.Invoke(null, null); } public static Assembly Baz(out StackTrace stack) // 9 bytes { stack = new StackTrace(); return null; } public static Assembly Bob(out StackTrace stack) // 13 bytes { // call of non-inlinable method! return SomeSecurityCriticalMethod(out stack); } [SecurityCritical, MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] static Assembly SomeSecurityCriticalMethod(out StackTrace stack) { stack = new StackTrace(); return Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); } } } Assembly ConsoleApp.exe using System; using ClassLib; using System.Diagnostics; class Program { static void Main() { Console.WriteLine("runtime: {0}", Environment.Version); StackTrace stack; Console.WriteLine("Foo: {0}\n{1}", A.Foo(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Bar: {0}\n{1}", A.Bar(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Baz: {0}\n{1}", A.Baz(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Bob: {0}\n{1}", A.Bob(out stack), stack); } } Results: runtime: 4.0.30128.1 Foo: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at ClassLib.A.Foo(StackTrace& stack) at Program.Main() Bar: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at ClassLib.A.Bar(StackTrace& stack) at Program.Main() Baz: at Program.Main() Bob: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at Program.Main() So questions are: Why JIT does not inlined Foo and Bar calls as Baz does? They are lower than 32 bytes of IL and are good candidates for inlining. Why JIT inlined call of Bob and inner call of SomeSecurityCriticalMethod that is marked with the [MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] attribute? Why GetExecutingAssembly returns a valid assembly when is called by inlined Baz and SomeSecurityCriticalMethod methods? I've expect that it performs the stack walk to detect the executing assembly, but stack will contains only Program.Main() call and no methods of ClassLib assenbly, to ConsoleApp should be returned.

  • Why does my ko computed observable not update bound UI elements when its value changes?

    - by Allen
    I'm trying to wrap a cookie in a computed observable (which I'll later turn into a protectedObservable) and I'm having some problems with the computed observable. I was under the opinion that changes to the computed observable would be broadcast to any UI elements that have been bound to it. I've created the following fiddle JavaScript: var viewModel = {}; // simulating a cookie store, this part isnt as important var cookie = function () { // simulating a value stored in cookies var privateZipcode = "12345"; return { 'write' : function (val) { privateZipcode = val; }, 'read': function () { return privateZipcode; } } }(); viewModel.zipcode = ko.computed({ read: function () { return cookie.read(); }, write: function (value) { cookie.write(value); }, owner: viewModel }); ko.applyBindings(viewModel);? HTML: zipcode: <input type='text' data-bind="value: zipcode"> <br /> zipcode: <span data-bind="text: zipcode"></span>? I'm not using an observable to store privateZipcode since that's really just going to be in a cookie. I'm hoping that the ko.computed will provide the notifications and binding functionality that I need, though most of the examples I've seen with ko.computed end up using a ko.observable underneath the covers. Shouldn't the act of writing the value to my computed observable signal the UI elements that are bound to its value? Shouldn't these just update? Workaround I've got a simple workaround where I just use a ko.observable along side of my cookie store and using that will trigger the required updates to my DOM elements but this seems completely unnecessary, unless ko.computed lacks the signaling / dependency type functionality that ko.observable has. My workaround fiddle, you'll notice that the only thing that changes is that I added a seperateObservable that isn't used as a store, its only purpose is to signal to the UI that the underlying data has changed. // simulating a cookie store, this part isnt as important var cookie = function () { // simulating a value stored in cookies var privateZipcode = "12345"; // extra observable that isnt really used as a store, just to trigger updates to the UI var seperateObservable = ko.observable(privateZipcode); return { 'write' : function (val) { privateZipcode = val; seperateObservable(val); }, 'read': function () { seperateObservable(); return privateZipcode; } } }(); This makes sense and works as I'd expect because viewModel.zipcode depends on seperateObservable and updates to that should (and does) signal the UI to update. What I don't understand, is why doesn't a call to the write function on my ko.computed signal the UI to update, since that element is bound to that ko.computed? I suspected that I might have to use something in knockout to manually signal that my ko.computed has been updated, and I'm fine with that, that makes sense. I just haven't been able to find a way to accomplish that.

  • Unintentional concatenation in Bison/Yacc grammar.

    - by troutwine
    I am experimenting with lex and yacc and have run into a strange issue, but I think it would be best to show you my code before detailing the issue. This is my lexer: %{ #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include "y.tab.h" void yyerror(char *); %} %% [a-zA-Z]+ { yylval.strV = yytext; return ID; } [0-9]+ { yylval.intV = atoi(yytext); return INTEGER; } [\n] { return *yytext; } [ \t] ; . yyerror("invalid character"); %% int yywrap(void) { return 1; } This is my parser: %{ #include <stdio.h> int yydebug=1; void prompt(); void yyerror(char *); int yylex(void); %} %union { int intV; char *strV; } %token INTEGER ID %% program: program statement EOF { prompt(); } | program EOF { prompt(); } | { prompt(); } ; args: /* empty */ | args ID { printf(":%s ", $<strV>2); } ; statement: ID args { printf("%s", $<strV>1); } | INTEGER { printf("%d", $<intV>1); } ; EOF: '\n' %% void yyerror(char *s) { fprintf(stderr, "%s\n", s); } void prompt() { printf("> "); } int main(void) { yyparse(); return 0; } A very simple language, consisting of no more than strings and integer and a basic REPL. Now, you'll note in the parser that args are output with a leading colon, the intention being that, when combined with the first pattern of the rule of the statement the interaction with the REPL would look something like this: > aaa aa a :aa :a aaa> However, the interaction is this: > aaa aa a :aa :a aaa aa aa > Why does the token ID in the following rule statement: ID args { printf("%s", $<strV>1); } | INTEGER { printf("%d", $<intV>1); } ; have the semantic value of the total input string, newline included? How can my grammar be reworked so that the interaction I intended?

  • How can I make the C# compiler infer these type parameters automatically?

    - by John Feminella
    I have some code that looks like the following. First I have some domain classes and some special comparators for them. public class Fruit { public int Calories { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } public class FruitEqualityComparer : IEqualityComparer<Fruit> { // ... } public class BasketEqualityComparer : IEqualityComparer<IEnumerable<Fruit>> { // ... } Next, I have a helper class called ConstraintChecker. It has a simple BaseEquals method that makes sure some simple base cases are considered: public static class ConstraintChecker { public static bool BaseEquals(T lhs, T rhs) { bool sameObject = l == r; bool leftNull = l == null; bool rightNull = r == null; return sameObject && !leftNull && !rightNull; } There's also a SemanticEquals method which is just a BaseEquals check and a comparator function that you specify. public static bool SemanticEquals<T>(T lhs, T rhs, Func<T, T, bool> f) { return BaseEquals(lhs, rhs) && f(lhs, rhs); } And finally there's a SemanticSequenceEquals method which accepts two IEnumerable<T> instances to compare, and an IEqualityComparer instance that will get called on each pair of elements in the list via Enumerable.SequenceEquals. public static bool SemanticSequenceEquals<T, U, V>(U lhs, U rhs, V comparator) where U : IEnumerable<T> where V : IEqualityComparer<T> { return SemanticEquals(lhs, rhs, (l, r) => lhs.SequenceEqual(rhs, comparator)); } } // end of ConstraintChecker The point of SemanticSequenceEquals is that you don't have to define two comparators whenever you want to compare both IEnumerable<T> and T instances; now you can just specify an IEqualityComparer<T> and it will also handle lists when you invoke SemanticSequenceEquals. So I could get rid of the BasketEqualityComparer class, which would be nice. But there's a problem. The C# compiler can't figure out the types involved when you invoke SemanticSequenceEquals: return ConstraintChecker.SemanticSequenceEquals(lhs, rhs, new FruitEqualityComparer()); If I specify them explicitly, it works: return ConstraintChecker.SemanticSequenceEquals< Fruit, IEnumerable<Fruit>, IEqualityComparer<Fruit> > (lhs, rhs, new FruitEqualityComparer()); What can I change here so that I don't have to write the type parameters explicitly?

If I wanted to evaluate // and handle the body again, I'd return EVAL_BODY_TAG. return(SKIP_BODY); } public int doEndTag() { try { JspWriter out = pageContext.getOut(); out.print("NEW TEXT 2"); } catch(IOException ioe) { System.out.println("Error in HeadingTag: " + ioe); } return(EVAL_PAGE); // Continue with rest of JSP page } The order in which SOP are printed is 1) Setter method of csajsp:repeat is called. 2) White on Black Heading is printed. ie doAfterBody of csajsp:heading tag is called. I don't know why it is not calling doAfterBody of csajsp:repeat tag. Please help me to understand this. Thanks in advance.

  • iphone Odd Problem when using a custom cell

    - by Brodie4598
    Please note where I have the NSLOG. All it is displaying in the log is the first three items in the nameSection. After some testing, I discovered it is displaying how many keys there are because if I add a key to the plist, it will log a fourth item in log. nameSection should be an array of the strings that make up the key array in the plist file. the plist file has 3 dictionaries, each with several arrays of strings. The code picks the dictionary I am working with correctly, then should use the array names as sections in the table and the strings en each array as what to display in each cell. so if the dictionary i am working with has 3 arrays, NSLOG will display 3 strings from the first array: 2010-05-01 17:03:26.957 Checklists[63926:207] string0 2010-05-01 17:03:26.960 Checklists[63926:207] string1 2010-05-01 17:03:26.962 Checklists[63926:207] string2 then stop with: 2010-05-01 17:03:26.963 Checklists[63926:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (3) beyond bounds (3)' if i added an array to the dictionary, it log 4 items instead of 3.
