    Hello, I am creating a chat application using JApplet. I have a TextArea where all chat messages go. Everything in working fine and smooth just as you would expect a basic chat application to do. Now i want to add support for gestures. I wanted to know, how can we show an icon in textarea? it only takes string in append() method. Thanks in advance :)

  • Computer Won't Boot Properly, unless in safe mode?

    I bought a computer today and booted it up, but when I did I only got a blank screen. I checked to make sure it wasn't the monitor by connecting it to my old computer...it worked. I then tried connecting my monitor to both DVI ports and found that the bottom one did work. However, now it just boots up and says "loading windows" and then when the login screen is suppose to come up the screen just goes blank and monitor says "no input, check cord" (or something like that). I tried reinstalling windows and then I was able to log on normally. I used the CD's and reinstalled all the drivers, then rebooted...now I am stuck right back where I started. I tried taking out the RAM and inserting into different slots, that didn't fix anything. I was able to boot up into windows using safe-mode. I suspected that my ATI Radeon 6950 was the issue and downloaded the drivers, but I can't install them on safe-mode. Someone said to install C++ distr. and I tried doing that to fix driver installation problem of "failed to load detection driver" but it wouldn't let me do that either. Please someone help me, I don't want to have to deal with the evil redtape of sending it back to get a replacement!   • How to find/display the Upload File limits on IIS with ASP.NET?

    I have a web service on which the end users will be uploading ZIP archives that can be very large (one test file is over 200MB). I'd like to handle oversized files proactively and size-limited upload failures gracefully. Since the web app will be deployed on customers' machines, so I cannot easily ensure that the configuration matches any fixed size. I've documented how to use the appcmd command for them to set the requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength value beyond the 30MB default. But I'd like to handle it in the web app; I'm hoping for two things: To show the current limit on the page where they initiate the file upload, something along the lines of: Each file upload is limited to 15MB. If your archive is larger, (etc., etc., etc.) To give a meaningful error when that size is exceeded. Currently, it takes a long time for the data to be sent, and then I see a misleading 404 page. Any thoughts?

  • Using Sigmatel STAC 92XX on Windows 7 RTM x64, cannot get 5.1 surround sound to work

    I have a Dell XPS 420. I've installed Windows 7 RTM (x64) I have this audio device: SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio I have tried using the windows 7 basic driver, and also the Vista 64-bit driver from Dell's website (details): Date: 10/29/2007 Version: 6.10.0.5511, A04 File Size: 7 MB With both drivers, I get normal stereo sound from the driver, but my 5.1 surround sound doesn't work. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix?

  • How can I have a Windows 7 VMware guest without mouse support?

    Despite having vmmouse.present = "FALSE" mouse.vusb.absDisabled = "TRUE" pref.motionUngrab = "FALSE" in my .vmx file and a customized VMware Tools installation on the guest that does not include the mouse driver, I somehow have fully integrated mouse support for my Windows 7 VM. I can smoothly mouse from the host into the guest without needing to click or Ctrl+G in and Ctrl+Alt out. I don't want this because of the issues it causes with games. How can I get the VM to have no special mouse support while still having VMware Tools installed for its other functions (network, graphics, etc.)? The mouse works as I want without VMware Tools but not otherwise — again, despite not installing the mouse driver and having all those settings trying to disable it. Device Manager shows that the generic Windows PS/2 mouse driver is being used and not the virtual mouse driver. Guest and host are both Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, x86 and x64 respectively. I'm using VMware Player 3.1.4 and the VMware Tools installed is the latest, 8.4.6.16648.

    I have defined two properties "Name" and "ID" for an object which I use for the DisplayMember and ValueMember of a ComboBox with a BindingList datasource. I recently installed Resharper to evaluate it. Resharper is giving me warnings on the object that the two properties are unused.   • Why does this jQuery dropdown menu display subcategory selections only for certain top-level categories?

    I'm trying to implement a dropdown menu based on a jQuery plugin from Filament Group: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/Pr8k4/ What I am having difficulty fixing is a bug where certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has equally many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. I would be very grateful if anyone could help me figure out what's causing this. Thanks. UPDATE: Just noticed this problem may be Chrome-specific(??). I just tested it in IE8 and Firefox and it seems to work correctly in both.

  • Dell Vostro 3500 battery life remaining missing from Windows 8?

    On Windows 7 a Vostro 3500 laptop shows the battery life remaining, while on Windows 8 this information appears to be missing. The percentage is still available, but the life remaining is missing. How is battery life remaining calculated and does this require some level of driver support? Is it a standardized interface? Does anybody know which driver is responsible for handling this feature? I want to force the old Windows 7 driver, but I don't know which driver does battery remaining.

    I have a Logitech webcam, which I can plug into my Windows XP machine via USB. When I open the Device Manager, I can select the webcam and choose Properties--Driver--Driver Details. This gives me the following list of driver filenames: C:\Program Files\Common Files\logishrd\WUApp32.exe [25 more filenames...] C:\WINDOWS\TWAIN_32\QuickCam\reset.wav My question is, is there any way to copy this list to the clipboard? Copying it by hand is a drag.

  • Printer demands specific USB port

    My HP laptop has 3 USB ports. When I add my printer driver by plugging into one of those ports, the driver installs fine. Problem: I have to install 3 identical drivers. One for each USB port. Depending on what USB port I have the printer plugged into, I have to pick the driver for that port. Question: How do I print to any of the three ports automatically based on what port the printer is in? Further into: In Devices and Printers Printer Properties Ports... I cannot select more than one port for a printer driver to print to.
