stop the CSS filter property cascading

I tried to make box-shadow affect work cross browsers, in order to make ie work I used "filter" property but the effect cascades to the child element (in my case a span) I tried to stop it by using filter : none but it didn't work searched the web but I couldn't find a solution. please help me solve this problem. But when the file is residing on another server, the problem creeps in. Excel - check if row contains ANY value *more than once*

I am doing data analysis and sometimes I need to check and to make sure each row in excel does not have any repeated value. I hope that there is a formula where each time if there's a repeated value in the same row, the value will be highlighted and it doesn't matter what value it is, as long as it's repeated in the same row. I try to search it everywhere but the closest I can find is below question & answer ( which couldn't apply to me as I need a formula that can highlight any value that's repeated and not only zero): I have rows which contain grades for students (numerical values), where the number 0 means they missed a class. I want the row to be highlighted in one color if they have "0" 3 or 4 times, and in another color if they have "0" 5 times or more. =COUNTIF(1:1,0)=5 Anyone can help me? Thanks in advance!

border highlighting loop with jquery

I'm having trouble coming up with a loop that changes the border color of an image from black to yellow and yellow to black over x seconds. Then applying an interrupt to the loop when the image gets clicked on. I don't know where to start, can someone point me in the right direction? I think I may be using the wrong tools to properly write this. Here's what I've come up so far, though if there's a better way to write this, do share! for( i = 100; i >= 0; i--) { $("#imgid").css("border-color", 'rgb(' + i + '%,' + i + '%,0)'); } I'm having trouble picturing how I could combine two loops so that I can also count upwards as well so that it will turn into yellow and back to black. I am creating a XAML / C# WinRT App and i have a collection of collection and i am binding it to a Grid-view(collections as groups ) Now i have to color the background of the GridViewItem according to their index in the collection (Dark color for the first one and light color for the last one ) How can i implement using a converter. Multicore system. How are the cores "sorted"

If I have a system with let's say two Quadcore CPUs and HyperThreading enabled, how do I know how the phsyical and virtual cores are sorted? For example if I force a process to run on "CPU 0" how to know which Core this really is? I remember a complex drawing about this, but didn't find anything useful.

Hello, I am quite new to this so any help is very much appreciated. I am generating a modal pop using Simple Modal, this works ok. I now want to add jquery autocomplete to the element txtEmail. When I run the page outside of Simple Modal I can use Autocomplete, however when the page is loaded through Simple Modal it does not work. I have checked to ensure the element is loaded, and it is allowing me to change the text color, but I can not add autocomplete to it. Lining up Divs, while using JQuery

I am trying to create a flash header like element in JQuery, that has three images that fade to other images. I have each group of images in a div, but the divs line up vertically down the page, I want them to line up horizontally in a row. I designed a title bar color on my JInternal frame. Then I took attempt to add it to my JFrame, but I cannot. Table overflow working in Chrome and IE but not Firefox

I am trying to get a layout that always takes up the entire screen, no more, no less. The layout has a header row, a 200px wide left bar (scrollable), and a scrollable content area. This works in Chrome and IE, but in Firefox the scroll bars never show nor work. What is prefered stratigies for cross browser and multiple styled table in CSS

in default css what should i predefined for <table>, td, th , thead, tbody, tfoot I have to work in a project there are so many tables with different color schemes and different type of alignment like in some table , i will need to horizontally align data of cell to right, sometime left, sometime right. same thing for vertical alignment, top, bottom and middle. some table will have thin border on row , some will have thick (same with column border). Some time i want to give different background color to particular row or column or in multiple row or column. So my question is: What code should i keep in css default for all tables and how to handle table with different style using ID and classes in multiple pages. I want to do every presentational thing with css. How to make ID classes for everything using semantic naming ? Which tags related to table can be useful?

Making animation on sIFR3

Hello all, Now I'm using sIFR3. It works very nicely. Additionally, I would like to put an effect on sIFR. My idea is that when the page loaded, sIFR(ed) texts change its color. For example, sIFR in list item change color one by one. The purpose is to emphasize the sIFR(ed) texts. Reading the document, I thought Flash filters are not for like this animation. Do you think is it possible to make animation on sIFR ? Thank you for your help.

animated text-shadow

I have some keywords in the header of my website. Every few second I want one of them to glow up with the CSS text-shadow property. However, JQuery animation doesn't seem to support the CSS text-shadow property very well. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/: This is kind of the result that I want, but the glow has to fade in and out. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/1/ With a more common CSS-property, like color, the animation works perfectly, the red color kind of fades in. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/2/ But the CSS text-shadow property doesn't even appear when trying to animate it. Does anyone know how to fade in and fade out a text-shadow property?

Style all anchors except those that contain images, without adding class or id to the image tag?

With the example below, I need to add padding and background-color properties to the text anchor. I then need to exclude padding and background-color from anchors that contain images. <p> <a href="#">this is a text link that needs to be styled</a> <a href="#"><img src="image/name.jpg" alt="this needs to be excluded from styling" /></a> </p> If I have a red background and padding on my text links, I do not want that same red background and padding to appear on my linked images. The images will always be in their own anchors, not mixed with text within the same anchor. The rub is that I can not add classes or IDs to the img tags - I do not have edit control of that data. So how can I add CSS attributes to all anchors, while excluding anchors that contain images?

Poorly rendered text (NSFont) in MacRuby/Cocoa. Any advice?

I have a small MacRuby app that displays some text inside a NSTextView. I have a method called make_label() that builds an NSTextView with some text and returns it, which I use to add to another NSView via addSubview() make_label() looks like this: def make_label( x, y, width, height, color, font_size, text ) label = NSTextView.alloc.initWithFrame( NSMakeRect( x, y, width, height) ) font = NSFont.systemFontOfSize(font_size) label.setFont( font ) label.insertText( text ) label.setTextColor( color ) label.setDrawsBackground(false) label.setRichText(true) label.setEditable(false) label.setSelectable(false) label end My question is, how come my text looks so poorly rendered? It looks very pixelated and not antialiased at all (from what I can see). Click here for screenshot This screenshot shows 2 different sizes of the font, with the same phenomenon.

Fails entirely in IE 6/7/8. The background image just doesnt show. I can see the text though. What am I doing wrong...?

Why do .png backgrounds appear black on iPhone device but not simulator?

I started with a .tiff file and used GraphicConverter to change it to a .png and set a transparency color. Worked fine in the simulator but when I pushed to the device the transparency color became black. Tested with a .png I downloaded from the net and that worked fine, so it seems to only happen with some files. Thus I suspect it has something to do with the way GraphicConverter writes the .pngs, but I don't know enough about file formats to debug it. Any ideas/suggestions? Ideally I'd like to programatically treat all .pngs because my app allowed dynamic loading of arbitrary files, so I can't verify the transparency beforehand.

Convert Qcolor value to hex value

I have implemented a Qcolor dialog box which opens on certain condition. To get the selected color after final selection i use the method selectedColor() which returns the value in QColor . When i print that value , it's like this : <PyQt4.QtGui.QColor object at 0x01DD7880> I want color value in hex value . like this : #DFDFDF (for grey ). If it's not hex , correct me. Is there any function to convert that? Any suggestions welcome .
