• FortiGate firewall configuration with /30 and /28 networks

  I have fiber coming in from a new ISP which is being handed off via Ethernet on a single physical port. I'm having doubts about how to approach the configuration on my FortiGate 200A firewall because I've been given a /30 containing the ISP's gateway and another /28 for external IPs I can use: x.y.76.12/30 (.13 is the GW) x.y.76.64/28 (public IP space) How do I configure the FG200A's WAN1 interface to be aware of the two networks? As I only have one physical ISP port, will I need to plug it into a switch to break-out two cables and use a DMZ port on the FG200A for setting up the /28? Thanks in advance for your insight!

• Virus sending phishing emails through exchange server

  It appears that there is a virus on my network somewhere that is sending phishing emails through my exchange server. I can see the messages in message tracking and I see many SMTP errors for NDR's and rejected connections from external servers, but I do not see any SMTP authentications and I have logging up to MAX. How can I find the IP or hostname of the PC that is infected? Or is there some other explanation than virus? Anti-virus scan on server is clean. Server is not an open relay. Thanks

• Apache, modifying response codes from 404 to 301

  Hi, I'm running a magento installation on an apache server. There are many pages indexed in both google and linked to from external sites. I can't use 301 redirects in a .htaccess file as I can't be sure I will catch all the links. At the moment all requests are rewritten through magento and if a request isn't found magento returns a 404 File not Found. Is there a way of using one of the apache modules to filter the response* from magento and if a 404 Not Found is being sent back then replace the response with a standard 301 Redirect to the home page? E.g. Request to Magento -- Apache -- Rewrite to Magento index.php page -- page processed. Response if request exists -- return results (200) if request doesn't exist -- return 404 -- apache filter change response -- return 301 redirect to / I appreciate any help. • Squid closing the connection on long HTTP GET requests

  Hello, When running a database query on a specific external site we use, Squid seems to cut off the connection after a consistent period of time (just over a minute). The query is submitted through a standard web form is that uses GET to query their database. Firefox 3 just displays a blank page. Internet Explorer throws a 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' error (tested in v6 and v8). When we perform the same query on the same machine, but bypass the Squid proxy, it works fine. The query takes about two and a half minutes to complete. There are a few timeout settings in Squid, but I honestly don't know what one to be looking at. Any possible solutions would be much appreciated. Cheers

• Serial port access errors in WINE

  Hello, I have a setup in which I use a USB serial adapter + some application which sends and receives data using that serial usb. But this setup which works on a Windows, or even in a VMWare Virtual windows, does not work under WINE. IT transmits data but i cannot receive data. The cable and the applications are same as in the working and non-working scenarios. I guess The fact that the application works over the USB serial cable just as fine under Virtual Windows(VMware running on linux) by mapping /dev/ttyUSB to the com port, no external software/DLL needed, means it does not need any specific driver. (Am I correct in this assumption that application doesnt need any driver?) (I also tried with a different setup(different USB serial adapter + different application under WINE, but even that does not work under WINE, but it works fine under WIndows/Virtual Windows) How can I get it working under WINE? Any pointers appreciated.

  I am having problems with a NTFS disk mounted as a fuseblk in my ubuntu 12.10 through external usb3. When I did a 1.1TB backup with rsync the speed was 1-2MB/s (wiht a ext4 disk speed was 70 MB/s before and after trying the NTFS disk). Also after one hour errors started to appear: rsync: write failed on "xxx": No such file or directory recv_files: "yyy" is a directory #but this file is a FILE not a dir ??!! .... As this is the first time I have mounted the NTFS in linux for heavy usage (the data would be used in windows afterwards), I would like to know if this kind of thinks are common o was only that something became unstable in my system and a simply restart would probably have solved it. This leads me to the these questions: Can I trust fuse for manage NTFS disks? Or is a problem of the NTFS tools in linux not yet totally stables for writing? Do people is still suffering from low performance with fuse-NTFS vs ext4 (in the past I have read about people complaining about this)?

• Tomcat and IIS6 on one server, multiple websites

  Windows Server 2003 with IIS6 and Tomcat 6.0.26. Three sites running on this server. One is PHP, one is ASP and the third uses Tomcat. The first two work flawlessly. The third is being a pain. Tomcat is installed and if called on the server itself by IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080 shows the welcome page. Calling the same address from an external machine gives a 'could not connect' error. Calling the ip address from within the server on standard port 80 gives me an error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE). Have tried using httpcfg to force listening only on ports within the ip range I'm using in a manner similar to question 35650 located here on serverfault but with no success. There are actually ten ip addresses on this machine but I'm only using three of them at this point. Any pointers on troubleshooting this would be appreciated!

• Connection drops while transferring large files to one server on a network

  My company has two sites, each with their own LAN, using site to site VPN tunnel to connect the two sites. When transferring files (especially larger files) from site1 to site2 server1, the file transfer fails. I don't think this can be a VPN issue because transferring the same files to site2 server2 which is on the same network as server1 works fine. Pings to server1 and server2 at site2 from site1 are about the same, mostly 19/20ms with the odd one up to 50ms. As server1 is DB server with a high load I thought the NIC maybe overloaded, but a transfer from site2 server1 to site2 server2 works fine, and that uses the same NIC on server1 as transfers from site1 to site2 server1. • Port forwarding for VNC on Dynalink RTA1335 not working

  I've vnc-java running on an Ubuntu box, with the IP address 192.168.1.68, using port 5800 (because port 5900 is being used for normal VNC). If I connect to 192.168.1.68:5800 using another computer on the network, I can use VNC fine. Using www.whatismyip.com, I find out what my IP address from the outside world is, and if I go directly to that, I get to access my modem/router. If I try to navigate to that IP address, with ':5800' on the end, I get a "This web page is not available." error. I have port forwarding set up in the router as follows: Application Name External Packet Internal Host IP Address Protocol Port IP Address Port VNC ALL TCP/UDP 5800 192.168.1.68 5800 What else do I need to do to get this to work?

• How to diagnose repeated freezing of windows 7 (comes back alive in few seconds)

  I installed Windows 7 in a 3 year old machine, it installed successfully, took all drivers and running great, but what happens is every 5-6 minutes it freezes for few seconds... 30 seconds to 1 minute and then comes back alive. I checked Event Viewer, nothing matching the frozen timeline. I would appriciate any help on how to detect causing service/hardware. After it comes alive, everything runs normal, I did run task manager and checked cpu usage, at time it freezes just before and after that no task took more cpu or memory, it was like idle machine. No external usb drives or no devices, on board intel desktop board with SATA HDD, SATA hdd running in absolute good mode.

• Best way to transfer files across unstable LAN?

  This is very similar to Question 326211, but in this case, the LAN is an unstable Wi-Fi connection. I need to transfer about 11 GiB of files between two computers, both running Linux (although one may be rebooted into Windows.) Their connection is both slow and unstable (due to Linux's awful Wi-Fi support,) but removable media (such as a flash drive or external hard drive) is not an option at this time. Right now, I'm slowly transferring the files, one by one, across SFTP, but I have to reconnect each computer approximately every 90 seconds, and the computers are not very close to each other, so this is not feasible. This is not a duplicate of Question 30186; that one specifically concerns Windows 7, and all the proposed solutions involve closed-source, Windows-only programs (which are all spyware IMHO, and are all off the table even if I trusted them - one of the computers is Linux-only.)

  We have a external HP LTO3 tape drive. It needs to backup 6 Windows 2003 machines every night. Servers are HP DL380 G3 and the tape drive is attached locally to one of them via SCSI. The difference betweent he two servers is that the first server has had old verisons of php on it, and the test server was installed with php 5.3.0-2 from the start. I've attempted uninstalling all PHP packages from the first server (using --purge to get rid of all the config files) and re-installing 5.3 fresh, but I'm still having the same issue. Help!

• SharePoint 2010 Search - not search additional content sources

  I've got SP 2010 crawling a secondary intranet system that we'll run in parallel as part of a long running migration to SharePoint when it releases. Whilst it's crawling the pages without problem I can't see how to get the results to appear as part of the Quick Search results if the user does a search from the little search dialog box on the home page. Searches completed within a My Sites pages lists results from port the SharePoint installation and the external content source. Searches from the main search dialog only list results of SharePoint items. I tried adding the drop down option to select the site to search but this list only includes the name of the current site and doesn't offer an 'All Sites' scope option which I think would include the content. What am I doing wrong?

Is it possible to take a screenshot of my computer before the OS boots up WITHOUT an external computer or virtualization software like VMWare?? e.g. at the BIOS, or the "Windows is Loading" screen, even at the login screen? • How do I align the bottom edges of two monitors with xrandr?

  I have two outputs that I'd like to use on my laptop: LVDS1 - 1366x768 HDMI1 - 1920x1080 I set my monitors up like so: xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto --output HDMI1 --auto --right-of LVDS1 This is all well and good, but my laptop sits considerably lower than my external monitor, and with the top edges of the screens being aligned, it makes the jump from one screen to the other rather unintuitive. Is there a way I can align the bottom edges instead? I thought I could use the --pos flag to do this, but I have tried and not seen any difference (perhaps I do not know how to use it properly). EDIT: Solved. Thanks to tink's link, I deconstructed the Python script and discovered the way to do this is as follows: xrandr --output LVDS1 --pos 0x312 # 312 = 1280 - 768 xrandr --output HDMI1 --pos 1366x0 Not sure I understand exactly what the --pos flags are doing here, but it at least works!
