• Why is the screen resolution different between Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise editions?

  I installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit edition on my Dell Precision M6400 with an nVidia Quadro Fx 2700M card and I see that even though the screen resolution is set to 1920 X 1200, its not the same as the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed on a second hard drive. Both OSes show that the screen resolution is set at 1920 X 1200 but Ultimate shows more pixels than Enterprise. I also reinstalled the display driver but in vain. Any ideas? TIA

I was wondering if it is possible to connect it to my main pc as an extra processor(main pc is getting old, it's only single core processor) and if so how? • Are there any known issues with Windows-8 installed on a VHD?

  I installed Windows 8 preview on a VHD image and it seemed to work until I actually started using it. I´m seeing terrible performance. Installing anything makes everything else "stutter" or freeze for up to a couple of seconds at a time. I looked up hard disk performance in the task manager and this is what I found: It doesn't seem right it has 2500ms response time while reading/writing at those speeds. Is this an issue with my drive, installation or VHDs in general?

My network is secured like this: Does that mean that they've used password cracking tools? The pass is not easy to guess but not hard to figure out via brute-force hacking, I guess.   I am looking for a solution for copying all the files from a specific directory on the hard drive, to a specific directory on a USB memory device, once this device is connected. I have a program that downloads podcast episodes for me. I would like these files to be automatically moved (or at least copied) to my mp3 player once I connect it to the computer. I have both windows xp and linux machines, so a solution for any of them will work for me.

• Recovered folders from Camera show as JPEG files and can can't be viewed.

  I have recovered a CCTV camera hard disk after a crash and have managed to get most of the data using EasyRecovery Pro. The problem is now that all the data that I have recovered appear like File09.JPG with and image icon in windows XP, but the files can't be viewed in any JPEG viewer software. I suspect that the .JPG files are indeed folders, but I can't force windows XP the change the file type. Very Odd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Hoo

  I'm trying to find a place where I can download both Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 OEM Iso's. I own both, and my hard drive died in my Vista computer, so I ran out, bought another one and now need to re-install my OS. However, the computer came with it, and didn't come with a disk (Thanks Acer!) So, is there a place I can download an ISO of my Windows that ISN'T illegaly activated?   I've installed Ubuntu 12.04.1 in a new server and set up the 4 hard drives with 3 RAID 1 devices, the configuration is such that the first two drives have md0 (swap space) and md1 (/) with the third and fourth drives having md2 (/var). I've been testing the operation under a drive failure and found that the system boots fine if I remove disk two but if I remove disk one then the system gets to grub and then just restarts. I'm confused as to why grub appears to be loading properly from disk two but then the boot fails.

• What is the best way to migrate to a new file share in a new domain?

I would like to do this with little to no downtime and if possible I would like to be able to map permissions from the groups/users in the current system to groups/users in the new domain. • How much audio latency is noticeable by human brain?

  I am choosing a wireless headset for my PC (I hate cables) and am looking at Sennheiser RS 170 / 180. They supposedly sound great, however, there is a 25ms audio latency. I've heard that this is OK when watching TV or listening musing but is bad for games. The question is - has there been any research / hard data that would show how much of a delay is noticeable by human brain? 25ms doesn't sound like a lot but I may be wrong.

  In my Core i5 desktop machine I tried to install windows 7 32 bit Ultimate. I received blue screen of death while installing OS. Earlier I had was 64 bit Windows vista which was working fine but now i cant install any of OS. When I try to re-install OS again same error screen pops up? how can I fix this ? I have 4GB of RAM installed does it have problems with 32 bit OS. When I install second OS I didn't reformat the entire hard disk.

  When I tried to re install Ubuntu 11.10, I wanted to erase the existing Ubuntu using gparted editor/ something else icon in Ubuntu. I found it was not detecting any existing partition. Then when I googled and used gparted editor I found it was showing unallocated space of entire hard disk space. However I am able to boot to Ubuntu normally and when I use disk utilities I am able to access and see all partitions. Please help me to solve my issue

• "Boot Error" message when booting Ubuntu 9.10 from USB sticks (Occurs only on 1 PC)

  Hey, Since today suddenly both my USB ubuntu installations (2 different USB sticks) try to boot and nothing loads but all I see is a message saying "Boot Error". When I press space it continues booting from the main hard drive. I tried reinstalling ubuntu on the USB stick but same error.   There isn't much room on server chassis and I'm wondering where a label with the servers name should go? Is there any other information in addition to the name that should go on the label? Does it make sense to label each hard drive in a server or is that not necessary? There certainly is overkill, when I worked at Big Blue labeling was a huge source of bureaucracy, even a projector needed to be labelled and have it's whereabouts routinely reported.
