  • What type of application is this called?

    I am working on a web-based application which combines elements of what my client would call a CMS (content management system) and CRM (customer relations management) but also adds in many other business-specific features such as bookings management, staff task allocation management, wages calculations, document version control etc. However, I'm struggling to find a catch-all term for this type of application so I can research how other people have gone about creating such an integrated solution. Can anyone recommend a term I can use to refer to this, both internally in our team, for the client so they know what to call the 'system' and also for me personally, so that I can ask the Stack community further questions?

  • Django TemplateSyntaxError only on live server (templates exist)

    I'm getting a strange error that only occurs on the live server. My Django templates directory is set up like so base.html two-column-base.html portfolio index.html extranet base.html index.html The portfolio pages work correctly locally on multiple machines. They inherit from either the root base.html or two-column-base.html. However, now that I've posted them to the live box (local machines are Windows, live is Linux), I get a TemplateSyntaxError: "Caught TemplateDoesNotExist while rendering: base.html" when I try to load any portfolio pages. It seems to be a case where the extends tag won't work in that root directory (???). Even if I do a direct_to_template on two-column-base.html (which extends base.html), I get that error. The extranet pages all work perfectly, but those templates all live inside the /extranet folder and inherit from /extranet/base.html. Possible issues I've checked: file permissions on the server are fine the template directory is correct on the live box (I'm using os.path.dirname(os.path.realpath(__file__)) to make things work across machines) files exist and the /templates directories exactly match my local copy removing the {% extends %} block from the top of any broken template causes the templates to render without a problem manually starting a shell session and calling get_template on any of the files works, but trying to render it blows up with the same exception on any of the extended templates. Doing the same with base.html, it renders perfectly (base.html also renders via direct_to_template) Django 1.2, Python 2.6 on Webfaction. Apologies in advance because this is my 3rd or 4th "I'm doing something stupid" question in a row. The only x-factor I can think of is this is my first time using Mercurial instead ofsvn. Not sure how I could have messed things up via that. EDIT: One possible source of problems: local machine is Python 2.5, live is 2.6. Here's a traceback of me trying to render 'two-column-base.html', which extends 'base.html'.   • Executing bat file and returning the prompt

    I have a problem with cruisecontrol where an ant scripts executes a bat file that doesn't give me the prompt back. As a result, the project in cruisecontrol keeps on bulding forever until I restart cruisecontrol. How can I resolve this?   • Entity Framework 4 relationship management in POCO Templates - More lazy than FixupCollection?

    I've been taking a look at EF4 POCO templates in beta 2. The FixupCollection looks fine for maintaining the model correctness after updating the relationship collection property (i.e. product.Orders it would set the order.Product reference ). But what about support for handling the scenario when some of those Order objects are removed from the context? The use-case of maintaining cascading deletes in the in-memory model. The old Typed DataSet model used to do this by performing the query through the container to derive the relationship results. Like the DataSet, this would require a reference to the ObjectContext inside the entity class so that it could query the top-level Order collection. Better support for Separation of Concerns in the ObjectContext would be required. It looks like EF is not suited to this use-case that DataSets did out of the box.... am I right?

  • Flash CS3/AS3 - How to Mask Nested MovieClips in External Classes

    I have a number of external class files that make up (or are trying to build) a portfolio. One of the class files for this project is a Menu.as class I tried extends, but I'm yet to use extends to where it doesn't become a ball of tangled holiday cheer. So my main portfolio class (the one where I'm assembling everything) calls an instance of the Menu class. From the Preloader through the Portfolio class into the Menu class is where I'm passing the content because I want to package things properly. This is Menu content, so naturally I want to position it in a properly names spot. I'm trying to reveal this Menu in a mask and I'm getting the old #1009 error. In a trace, this will work: trace(site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc); // returns [object mainMask_mc_4] However, when I try to truncate the string into a single compact_mc... compactMenu_mc = site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc; trace(compact_mc); // it won't trace (#1009). I said to hell with it, but now I need to have one MovieClip mask another. So I figure I can't go all... parent.parent.parent.clip_mc.mask = parent.parent.parent.masked_mc Probably because of datatyping and whatever else. I hate to be vague, but I'm new and have been working like gangbusters for days to get this portfolio up.     Dear all, I have Sqlserver 2005 Express Edition only. and VS 2005. How to i create my .sdf file. and how to create tables in that file... I am developing a SmartDevice Application. if any possible to access the Sql server 2000 DataBase without using .SDF file. Note: in my system i have VS 2005, SQL SERVER 2000, SQL SERVER 2005 Express Edition. And aslo i installed MS-SQL SERVER 2005 Compact Edition Developer SDK[ENU]. In my Sql server 2005 Studio, there is no any sqlserver compact edition in the EngineType Combo. what are the things i need to do.. to perfectly run my application with Data Base.     Anybody got any any tutorials that cover these subjects ... the official MS 70-536 book covers this but I don't want to take any chances as I want additional reading materials problem is, its proving difficult to find anything on it. It's a fairly big subject so am hoping somone on here as here as got some good reading materials on that cover these subjects. At this very moment in time, im reading this; Tutorial01 Its not much, but its a good starting point. I'm not a big fan MSDN and the way its structured and layout, I mainly use it for framework related questions like classes and interfaces and etc. WHen it comes to tutorials, i prefer thrid party websites. Lastly, this extra reading which I am asking for is really revision for the 70-536 exam. TIA. Ibrar

    I have a coworker on a team that is fairly distributed, fairly large (for our company) and wants to take advantage of visual management tools like scrum / kanban boards. Since they are a somewhat distributed team, though, all of the issue management / work management must be done via an electronic tool (we currently use Trac). What issue / work management tools, with a visualization of a scrum / kanban board, do you use for your distributed scrum / kanban teams? would you recommend it, and if so, why?

    Hey all, I am trying to find a tool that can highlight code changes in Visual Studio so they can be easily found and reviewed. Below are some requirements for what we are looking for... Identify and use a difference highlighting tool that meets the following criteria: • can highlight areas that need to be reviewed • there is a place to enter comments • retains line numbering from code • preference for doing within IDE Issue addressed: Hard to see what was changed in code - changes not identified. Coders do not provide administrators diffs. No tool that does a nice job to identify differences. Daunting/time consuming to provide a good diff. When highlighting differences was provided, loss of line numbers was a substantial issue (was worse).
