• Deserialization on client side in Domain Service

  I have 2 classes: Person and Contact. Person class has a property named ContactNumber which returns the Contact type, and this property is marked as a DataMember for serialization. I have marked Contact type as a DataContract. On the client side I am able to get the values, but when I try to insert a value and then do submit, I get the following exception: Failed to deserialize change-set. Failed to convert value of type 'Dictionary`2' to type 'Contact' Stack Trace is: at System.Web.Ria.DataServiceSubmitRequest.GetChangeSet(DomainService domainService) at System.Web.Ria.DataServiceSubmitRequest.Invoke(DomainService domainService) at System.Web.Ria.DataService.System.Web.IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) Can anyone give me the solution ?

• Setting instance names on keyframes quickly in AS3

  Right now in Flash CS3 and up (using Actionscript 3) if you have the same instance that is used in multiple keyframes in a layer, and you decide to assign or change the instance name later, you would have to go to each keyframe and set the instance name. This is a big nuisance. Is there a quicker or better way to do this? NOTE: In AS2, you can set the name by using name property of the MovieClip in your code in the onLoad handler of the MovieClip class so it's done once and for all. Unfortunately in AS3, you are not allowed to set the name property anymore.

  There is so much info out there on using Apple's Reachability example, and so much is conflicting. I'm trying to find out of I'm using it (Reachability 2.0) correctly below. My App use case is this: If an internet connection is available through any means (wifi, LAN, Edge, 3G, etc.) a UIButton ("See More") is visible on various views. If no connection, the button is not visible. The "See More" part is NOT critical in any way to the app, it's just an add-on feature. "See More" could be visible or not anytime during the application lifecycle as connection is established or lost. Here's how I did it - Is this correct and/or is there a better way?   I'm implementing an app widget and I'd like to be able to change the property of a single view in the widget layout, without rebuilding all the RemoteViews from scratch, which involves loading XML etc and which is not necessary in some circumstances.. Is there a way to say "update property X on view identified by a specific ID in the current widget layout"? I've seen that there is a partiallyUpdateAppWidget method in the AppWidgetManager class but I can't understand nor if it is meant for this purpose neither how it must be used.. Can you help me or point me to a useful link or example?

  When I create an entity using core data then generate a subclass of NSManagedObject from it I get the following output (in the .h): @class Foo; @interface Foo : NSManagedObject @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSSet *otherValues; @end However, in my .m file I want to make use of the name and otherValues values. Normally I would simply create a couple of ivars and then add the properties for them as I required. That way I can access them in my .m file easily. In this situation would it be acceptable to do this? Would adding ivars to the .h (for name and otherValues) cause any unusual behaviour in the persistance & retrieval of objects?

  In my Windows Mobile .NET application I have a simple array of object with the data I want to display in my DataGrid. To do this, I simply call: myDataGrid.DataSource = myArray; This works, but I have a problem with it: it uses all properties as columns and uses the names of the properties as the column headers. I can't figure out how to customize two things: Select which subset of properties should be displayed as columns (say I have an ID, Name and Value property, I'd only want to show Name and Value); Rename the column headers to make more sense (for example if the property is called ID display a column header saying "Number"). Is this possible at all? As mentioned this is in a Windows Mobile .NET (version 2) application.

  I've defined a listview in my recent project and realized that I will be using more listviews looking exactly the same and having the same solumns. Since I'm new to WPF am I curious of teh best way to do this. Is it to create a usercontrol? Use styles? I've tried to use styles but it didnt work the way I was hoping.   I'm a relatively newbie to object oriented programming in JavaScript, and I'm unsure of the "best" way to define and use objects in JavaScript. I've seen the "canonical" way to define objects and instantiate a new instance, as shown below. function myObjectType(property1, propterty2) { this.property1 = property1, this.property2 = property2 } // now create a new instance var myNewvariable = new myObjectType('value for property1', 'value for property2'); But I've seen other ways to create new instances of objects in this manner: var anotherVariable = new someObjectType({ property1: "Some value for this named property", property2: "This is the value for property 2" }); I like how that second way appears - the code is self documenting. But my questions are: Which way is "better"? Can I use that second way to instantiate a variable of an object type that has been defined using the "classical"way of defining the object type with that implicit constructor? The context for my question should not be important, but I'll share anyway: I'm thinking of making a logger (or log-wrapper) that always knows what "log source" to target, regardless of whether the assemblies using it are in one appdomain, or spread across several appdomains. I think one way to achieve that, is to have a domain-neutral assembly with a static "LogSource" property. If that static property is set in a domain-neutral assembly, I think all appdomains will see it.

  I am extending the ImageBox control from EmguCV. The control's Image property can be set to anything implementing the IImage interface. All of the following implement this interface: Image<Bgr, Byte> Image<Ycc, Byte> Image<Hsv, Byte> Now I want to call the Draw method on the object of the above type (what ever it may be). The problem is when I access the Image property, the return type is IImage. IImage does not implement the Draw method, but all of the above do. I believe I can cast the object of type IImage to one of the above (the right one) and I can access the Draw method. But how do I know what the right one is? If you have a better way of doing this, please suggest that as well.

The thing is that it worked previously and after some changes (not related to fonts) it doesn't. I'd like to understand how the embed process for font works to find the error in my code. I declare : [Embed(source = 'asset/font.ttf', fontName="font", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype")] private static var font:String; to assign the font to the program. Then i call "font" when declaring my textFormat. Is the "fontName" property the link with the textformat ?   Hi, I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas about this one. in my application i have controls that are binded to objects properties. but.. the controls always looks like that: a check box, label that explain the settings and then the edited control (for ex: text box) when unchecking the checkbox i disable the text box (using binding) when the checkbox is unchecked i want the property to contain null, and when it is checked i would like the property to contain the text box's text. • Programatically prevent ASP .NET AJAX scripts from rendering

  Does anyone know of a way that I can stop all the .NET AJAX scripts from rendering, even if a ScriptManager exists on the page? The ScriptManager's Visible property has been overridden and disabled so that you receive a NotImplementedException if you try to set the Visible property. The reason I would like to do this is that I don't want these large chunks of javascript all over my pages when they are not required. The ScriptManager needs to be included on the master page to ensure that only one ScriptManager is added, but it would be stupid to to have to have two versions of the same master page - one ajax enabled and one not. Edit: I am actually using Telerik's RadScriptManager with RadAjax, in case anyone knows a method using these classes instead.

For instance, using a property that will get the NativeDialog. Then, you write your method always using the NativeDialog property and you're done.   I am trying to lock the 1st row in my ADG. This 1st row is the SummaryRow. When I set the lockedRowCount property to 1, it still does not freeze the 1st row. I have tried with different numbers, but it is still not working. In fact, when I try to trace the value for lockedRowCount, it traces it as 0.   I know why runat="server" is currently required (ASP.NET why runat="server"), but the consensus is that it should not be required if you incorporate a simple default into the design (I agree of course). Would it be possible to modify, extend, decompile and recreate, intercept or otherwise change the behavior of how ASP.NET parses ASPX and ASCX files so that runat="server" would no longer be required? For instance, I assume that a version of Mono could be branched to accomplish this goal.
