• Should Exterrnal USB hard drive auto mount Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS

  I want to have external USB hard drives automatically mounted when plugged in. I have 2 drives exactly the same except for volume label. They both have the same UUID. I want to be easily able to swap them as I'm using them for backups and want to keep 1 at home for off site backup. I've set up the /etc/fstab so they should mount at different places based on their volume label: /etc/fstab : LABEL=Passport1 /media/Passport1 ntfs defaults,windows_names,locale=en_US.utf8 0 0 LABEL=Passport2 /media/Passport2 ntfs defaults,windows_names,locale=en_US.utf8 0 0 blkid shows : ... /dev/sdc1: LABEL="Passport2" UUID="4E1AEA7B1AEA6007" TYPE="ntfs" /dev/sdd1: LABEL="Passport1" UUID="4E1AEA7B1AEA6007" TYPE="ntfs" They both mount automatically during reboot but do not mount when just plugged in to a running system. I've read lots of stuff about this, much of it is old so I'm not sure if it applies. I've read some stuff that says the mounts should happen automatically when plugged in, and lots of other stuff that says you have to install other software to make this happen, although much of it just seems to set up the fstab. What's the real story?   When I use this code with an element whose id is "foobar": $("#foobar").click(function () { alert("first"); }); $("#foobar").click(function () { alert("second"); }); I get two alerts: "first" and "second" second. How do I specify a click event that also clears out any previous click events attached to the element? I want the last $("#foobar").click(...) to erase any previously bound events.

If started process completes within 1 second, main program capture its output for further processing. If it doesn't finishes in 1 second, main program just terminate it and start another new process. • segmented controls mangled during initial transition animation

  greetings and salutations folks, i'm relatively new to objective c & iphone programming, so bare with me if i've overlooked something obvious.. i created a simple app to play with the different transition animations, setting up a couple segmented controls and a slider.. (Flip/Curl), (left/right) | (up/down), (EaseInOut/EaseIn/EaseOut/Linear) i created a view controller class, and the super view controller switches between 2 instances of the sub class. as you can see from the following image, the first time switching to the 2nd instance, while the animation is occurring the segmented controls are mangled; i'd guess they haven't had enuff time to draw themselves completely.. http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/2320/mangledbuttonsduringtra.png they're fine once the animation is done, and any subsequent times.. if i specify cache:NO in the setAnimationTransition it helps, but there still seems to be some sort of progressive reveal for the text in the segmented controls; they still don't seem to be pre-rendered or initialized properly.. But I'd like that the interval change over time. For example : -The 10 first seconds of the game: a new monster appears every 1 second. -Then for 10 seconds: a new monster appears every 0.8 second. -And after every 0.5 second... How can I do that? • Timeout when trying to install ubuntu 12.04

  When i click on "try ubuntu" after booting it from a USB the screen goes black and a lot of text comes out. But after a while it says "timeout: killing /blablabalba" or something like and it just keep on saying that. What have I done wrong? <.< My computer is a Acer ASPIRE M5201 if that is of any importance. Edit: I noticed now that before it says "timeout" it says something about not supporting "DNS" or "Asn" or something like that. I'm not sure if it was exactly dns and asn but do this mean that I can't run ubuntu on this computer? Edit2: The exact strings are: "[sdg] Write cache: disabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA " "timeout: killing '/sbin/modprobe -bv pci:v00001002d00"(and more nubmers wich I didn't catch)

  Hi all I have been asked to monitor MSSQL Server (2005 & 2008) and am wondering what are good metrics to look at? I can access WMI counters but am slightly lost as to how much depth is going to be useful. Currently I have on my list: user connections logins per second latch waits per second total latch wait time dead locks per second errors per second Log and data file sizes I am looking to be able to monitor values that will indicate a degradation of performance on the machine or a potential serious issue. To this end I am also wondering at what values some of these things would be considered normal vs problematic? As I reckon it would probably be a really good question to have answered for the general community I thought i'd court some of you DBA experts out there (I am certainly not one of them!) • ASP.NET/AJAX - Timer delay

  I've got a problem with the timer in asp.net ajax. The timer needs to trigger every second so I put the delay of the timer (don't know the real name atm) at 1000. Now when I put this timer inside an UpdatePanel it doesn't really trigger every second because the timer also gets updated in the UpdatePanel. But when I put the timer outside the update panel it keeps kinda refreshing the page, so whenever I put a button on the same page I need to press and release this button within 1 second else it gets refreshed. Also I saw that even outside of the UpdatePanel the timer isn't a real second. Any solutions?

In the first class I alloc and init the second class, then pass some information to it. In the second class it displays that data in the table view.   I have a strong type view of type List<List<MyViewModelClass>> The outer list will always have two lists of List<MyViewModelClass>. For each of the two outer lists I want to display a group of checkboxes. Each set can have an arbitrary number of choices. My view model class looks similar to this: public class MyViewModelClass { public Area Area { get; set; } public bool IsGeneric { get; set; } public string Code { get; set; } public bool IsChecked { get; set; } } So the final view will look something like: Please select those that apply: First set of choices: x Option 1 x Option 2 x Option 3 etc. Second set of choices: x Second Option 1 x Second Option 2 x Second Option 3 x Second Option 4 etc. Checkboxes should display MyViewModelClass.Area.Name, and their value should be related to MyViewModelClass.Area.Id. Checked state is of course related to MyViewModel.IsChecked. Question I wonder how should I use Html.CheckBox() or Html.CheckBoxFor() helper to display my checkboxes? I have to get these values back to the server on a postback of course. • Will moving to Facebook/Disqus Commenting lighten the load on my server any?

  I manage a site that gets about 50 million hits a month. It's a Wordpress site, load balanced over 6 servers, and has a varnish caching system setup. Right now, 95 - 97% of the time, page views hit the cache. The only time it serves up a new page from the server is when a new story is created, or someone is logged in looking at the stories and commenting. What I am trying to figure out is that if I move over to Facebook Comments or Disqus commenting, and get rid of the users entirely, will that lighten the load? I would think it would because the only time you would be hitting the server, and not the cache, is when you're logged in - which only the admins would be. I know it's only 2.5 - 3% but I wasn't 100% sure.

  I'm currently trying to set up an offline.manifest file for my web app to be used offline on an iOS device. For testing purposes I have a very simple HTML page that I'm trying to add to a home screen. I'm testing it on a live iPhone 4, but after the page is added to the home screen and I put the iPhone in the airplane mode and try to start my web app I get this error: "Turn Off Airplane Mode or Use Wi-Fi to Access Data" and then if I click OK I get: "Cannot Open Web App Name" "Web App Name could not be opened because it is not connected to the Internet" The following is added to the HTML file: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en" manifest="scrts/offline.manifest"> and the offline.manifest is composed as such: CACHE MANIFEST ../pics/bkgnd_iphn_settings.png ../pics/mbl_btn_fb.png ../pics/mbl_btn_twt.png ../pics/icon_57_57_bg.png ../pics/icon_72_72_bg.png ../pics/icon_114_114_bg.png ../pics/icon_144_144_bg.png ../pics/splash_320_460_bg.png ../pics/splash_768_1004_bg.png ../pics/splash_1004_768_bg.png I got all instructions on composing it from here I also adjusted the .htaccess file to add this line: AddType text/cache-manifest .manifest Any idea what am I not doing right?

  I'm having a heck of a time trying to get a silverlight datagrid to properly sort, and do so quickly (sub 1/10 second). Here's the scenario: -WCF callback every 1/5 of a second -Take the callback, match up to the existing record in an ObservableCollection -Update the ObservableCollection's properties -Bind the grid. I've tried a linq query, PagedCollectionView, and observablecollection.select(), all are waaaaaaay too slow, and introduce 12+ second delays in processing. Anyone else experience this?

• Programmaticaly change lightdm autologin session type

  I have problem with lightdm setting autologin session type (using my config tool). Lightdm logs into previously selected session. I see that autologin-session is UNIMPLEMENTED in version 1.2.1. Maybe I can somehow cheat lightdm? but it seems program writes actual state when stopping and overwrites my changes to /home/user/.dmrc and /var/cache/lightdm/user.dmrc. At the current I have two sessions: default and kiosk. in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf I have line: user-session=desktop but after I logged into kiosk session it starts all the time. Changing .dmrc and /var/cache/lightdm/dmrc/user.dmrc doesn't work.

  I'm having trouble installing php in 13.04. Seems like the package manager can't (re)configure the php package. I already tried purging every php* package, removing the cache files in /var/cache/aptbut and other solutions I've found but nothing seems to work. Here's the error output: $ sudo dpkg --configure -a Setting up php5-common (5.4.9-4ubuntu2.3) ... dpkg: error processing php5-common (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10 Errors were encountered while processing: php5-common sudo apt-get install -f sudo apt-get install php5-common php5 they all return the same error. How can I fix this?
