  • Which hosted chat solutions offer the following?

    I am looking for a chat room solution similar to the one on StackExchange to facilitate more responsive communication between the contributors on Open-Org.com. My criteria are the following: No Flash (this rules out more than half) Full history (meaning that it is possible to access all previous conversation for future reference. Very customizable No ugly IRC stuff filling up the chat view (I do not want to see who joined an who left etc.) No private conversations possible (this is just not in the spirit of Open-org.com) A hosted solution with a reasonable price. These criteria are so different from this question, so this is not a duplicate question. The service which matches this the closest is Chatroll.com. However, at 199$ per month their prices are outrageous.

    Back in Q2 of FY12, a division of ITT invited Oracle to demo our CRM On Demand product while the group was considering Salesforce.com. Chris Porter, our Oracle Direct sales representative learned the players and their needs and began to develop relationships. We lost that deal, but not Chris's persistence. A few months passed and Chris called on the ITT Shape Cutting Division's Director of Sales to see how things were going. Chris was told that the plan was for the division to buy more Salesforce.com.     I'm developing an application, in iOS, that is required to connect to my Windows Server to poll for new data, update, etc. As a seasoned C# developer, my first instinct is to start a new project in Visual Studio and select Web Service, letting my bias (and comfort level) dictate the service layer of my application. However, I don't want to be biased, and I don't base my decision on a service which I am very familiar with, at the cost of performance. I would like to know what other developers have had success using, and if there is a default standard for iOS service layer development? Are there protocols that are easier to consume than others within iOS? Better ones for the size and/or compression of data? Is there anything wrong with using SOAP? I know it's "big" in comparison to protocols like JSON.

  • Internet Timeouts with TP-Link TL-WN821N wireless usb stick - existing solutions dont work

    I'm running Ubuntu12.04 and I'm trying to get a TP-Link TL-WN821N to work. The solution from Internet Timeouts with TP-Link TL-WN821N v2 wireless usb stick didn't work for me. Neither has anything else... I've installed rtl8192cu as per instructions I found elsewhere to no avail. The symptoms I am experiencing are: When I plug in the device the PC can see and connect to wireless networks fine. The network I'm using has internet access and the signal strength is pretty strong. I can't ping and I can't browse the internet (timeout). Any ideas? I'm not sure what the next step would be or what information would be useful at this point.

    i recently tried installed java 7 on ubuntu 12.04 and i think i screwed something up I followed the instructions given here. First you need to remove openjdk for this run the following command from your terminal sudo apt-get purge openjdk* Now you can install Java7 by adding the following repository: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/java sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer Now everytime i install a new program i get the following error: Download done. sha256sum mismatch jdk-7u3-linux-x64.tar.gz Oracle JDK 7 is NOT installed. dpkg: error processing oracle-java7-installer (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Setting up python-central (0.6.17ubuntu1) ... Setting up python-eggtrayicon (2.25.3-11) ... Setting up gmail-notify (1.6.1.1-1ubuntu1) ... Processing triggers for python-central ... Errors were encountered while processing: oracle-java7-installer Error in function: However.The program seems to install and work just fine so it doesn't seem to be a problem preventing me from doing anything So then i reinstalled openjdk by going: sudo apt-get install openjdk* But i still get the same error. going: sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer gives me the same error. What is going on? Please let me know if this is clear or not and ill try to explain my issue better

    I am looking for recommendations on a digital Scrum Board which can be shared over the internet. I imagine something like a big tablet on which you can draw and which remote users can access, too. I dislike Scrum software because I think one major benefit of a Scrum Board is its physical presence. It should be hard to ignore. The best solution would be two big tablets on which you can draw and which can be synchronized. Has anyone got product recommendations for something like this? Or would you rather use a software?
