  • Multiple Servers + One MailServer

    Hy, I got several Linux-Servers (running Debian) where different services run: Database-Servers, Webservers, Applicationsservers, Tools and so on. All Servers are connected to the same internal network. There is also one special Server which is the Mail-Server: All Mailaccounts are stored on this server, it is also the outbound Mailserver for all the other servers. I want all Mails for all servers to get saved on the Mailserver. For example if an cron-job fails on one of the web-servers the mail should not be delivered to the local user but instead to the Mailserver so I get a centralized place for mail storage. How do you set up this scenario? My current setup is: Using postfix as MTA on the Mailserver and using ssmtp on all the other servers. SSMTP is configured to send the mails to the Mailserver. The Mailserver is configured to allow the whole internal network to relay mails using itself. Is this the right way to choose? I also thought about setting up a MTA (postfix) on every server and configure it somehow to forward the mails. What would be the advantage of this solution?

  • Opening a huge .csv file with Excel Interop using C#

    Hi, I have an application that write huge .csv files about the size ranging from 1 GB to 2 GB. I need to color code the file and save it as .xlsx. So I have tried using Excel Interop and it works great for small files, but when I try to open a 1.3 GB .csv file with Excel, I get an Hresult error. Any ideas as to how I could accomplish this task either with using Excel, or if there is any other way of doing it. Thanks!

    Trying to import 53,800+ individual files (messages) using Gmail's POP fetcher. Gmail understandably refuses, giving the error: "Too many messages to download. There are too many messages on the other server." The folder in question looks like similar to: /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203672790.V57I586f04M867101.mail.net:2,S /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203676329.V57I586f22M520117.mail.net:2,S /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203677194.V57I586f26M688004.mail.net:2,S /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203679158.V57I586f2bM182864.mail.net:2,S /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203680493.V57I586f33M740378.mail.net:2,S /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203685837.V57I586f0bM835200.mail.net:2,S /usr/home/customer/Maildir/cur/1203687920.V57I586f65M995884.mail.net:2,S ... So Gmail only sees & downloads 1000 at a time.

  • How best to store Subversion version information in EAR's?

    When receiving a bug report or an it-doesnt-work message one of my initials questions is always what version? With a different builds being at many stages of testing, planning and deploying this is often a non-trivial question. I the case of releasing Java JAR (ear, jar, rar, war) files I would like to be able to look in/at the JAR and switch to the same branch, version or tag that was the source of the released JAR. How can I best adjust the ant build process so that the version information in the svn checkout remains in the created build? I was thinking along the lines of: adding a VERSION file, but with what content? storing information in the META-INF file, but under what property with which content? copying sources into the result archive added svn:properties to all sources with keywords in places the compiler leaves them be I ended up using the svnversion approach (the accepted anwser), because it scans the entire subtree as opposed to svn info which just looks at the current file / directory.   • Lightweight Flash Video Recording Server

    I am currently using Wowza Media server for recording videos from webcam using Flash. However servers like Wowza, Red5 & Flash Media Server seem to be overkill for merely this task. Are there any alternative lightweight video recording servers which can be used for the purpose? My load would not be more than 5 users at a time and my server is Ubuntu 8.04. I tried Haxe Server but project seems to be outdated and won't compile on my Ubuntu.

  • Twisted: why is it that passing a deferred callback to a deferred thread makes the thread blocking a

    I unsuccessfully tried using txredis (the non blocking twisted api for redis) for a persisting message queue I'm trying to set up with a scrapy project I am working on. I found that although the client was not blocking, it became much slower than it could have been because what should have been one event in the reactor loop was split up into thousands of steps. So instead, I tried making use of redis-py (the regular blocking twisted api) and wrapping the call in a deferred thread. It works great, however I want to perform an inner deferred when I make a call to redis as I would like to set up connection pooling in attempts to speed things up further.   • App dies on startup but not crash report

    I've given an ad hoc version of my app to some users. Two of them have the app die on start up while one user has no issues. I can also install the ad hoc without issue...but that is always the case for me. One user sent the info below from the Xcode Organizer Console. They didn't find any crash logs. I don't know what to make of the info below. The one thing that stands out is "Permission denied". I place the provisioning and myapp.app files in a dropbox folder. The user then retrieves the files from the same location. I've run codesign against the .app file in the dropbox and get valid output: codesign -vvvv myapp.app myapp.app: valid on disk myapp.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement Any one have some ideas how I can figure out why the app doesn't work for this user?     I'm bundling an application for distribution and SQL Server is a prequisite so we're including SQL Server Express. What's the easiest way to include SQL server in a point and click installer? In the past I've used NSIS, but it was always flaky when installing the .NET Framework, so .NET, SQL Server and our app seems like an impossible task. It needs to be free, which probably cuts back my options a tad. Any suggestions or recommendations?

    hundreds of our clients around the country have a vb6/MS Access app. The boss needs them to talk to each other, eg client A creates a new task in client B's database, and status updates go back to A. I'm trying to design a WCF system that can accomplish this using a centralized service talking to a service of some kind installed on each client. What I'm wondering is, how the central system knows the address of the clients, ie determine and consume services on the fly? What's a good architecture to fit these requirements?

  • How to register file types/extensions with a WiX installer?

    I didn't find an explicit answer to this question in the WiX Documentation (or Google, for that matter). Of course I could just write the appropriate registry keys in HKCR, but it makes me feel dirty and I'd expect this to be a standard task which should have a nice default solution. For bonus points, I'd like to know how to make it "safe", i.e. don't overwrite existing registrations for the file type and remove the registration on uninstall only if it has been registered during installation and is unchanged.
