  • outlook express 2007: remove personal folders from mail folders.

    Hiya. I installed outlook express 2007 and i configured it for my e-mail account. it seems that i cannot remove the personal folders and i cannot configure the gmail Mail file to be as default. (it's translated from hebrew so i hope i got the menu words correct) when i go to tools - manage accounts - data files i see 2 files, one for personal folders and the other for my gmail. the personal folder is the default one and i can't remove it and i can't set my gmail mail file to be the default. how can i resolve the issue? thanks!

    I'm trying to setup a new diskless solution with ubuntu 12.04 without any success. I followed this howto: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DisklessUbuntuHowto But the initramfs seems not to be able to mount my nfs share. On my server side: My /etc/exports /srv/nfs4 192.168.0.0/24(fsid=0,rw,no_subtree_check) /srv/nfs4/nfsroot 192.168.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check,fsid=1,nohide,insecure,sync) I'm able to mount my nfs share on standard Ubuntu installation without any problem. I can mount my nfs on any client with those commands: mount 192.168.0.3:/nfsroot /mnt or mount 192.168.0.3:/srv/nfs4/nfsroot /mnt My /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default config file is DEFAULT vmlinuz-3.5.0-25-generic root=/dev/nfs initrd=initrd.img-3.5.0-25-generic nfsroot=192.168.0.3:/nfsroot ip=dhcp rw I also tried DEFAULT vmlinuz-3.5.0-25-generic root=/dev/nfs initrd=initrd.img-3.5.0-25-generic nfsroot=192.168.0.3:/srv/nfs4/nfsroot ip=dhcp rw.   • How important is it for a programmer to know how to implement a QuickSort/MergeSort algorithm from memory?

    I was reviewing my notes and stumbled across the implementation of different sorting algorithms. As I attempted to make sense of the implementation of QuickSort and MergeSort, it occurred to me that although I do programming for a living and consider myself decent at what I do, I have neither the photographic memory nor the sheer brainpower to implement those algorithms without relying on my notes. All I remembered is that some of those algorithms are stable and some are not. Some take O(nlog(n)) or O(n^2) time to complete. Some use more memory than others... I'd feel like I don't deserve this kind of job if it weren't because my position doesn't require that I use any sorting algorithm other than those found in standard APIs. I mean, how many of you have a programming position where it actually is essential that you can remember or come up with this kind of stuff on your own?

  • Unable to connect to remote MS SQL Server 2008 Express SP3 instance by name

    I am trying to connect to a remote MS SQL Server 2008 SP3 x86 Instance using it's name. At the first glance all seems to work well (e.g. it is possible to connect to the server locally and succesfully telnet it's port remotely), but there is a thing I can't understand... This line should connect us to the default instance of remote SQL Server: osql -S ServerIP -d MyDatabase /U sa -P MyPassword and it does the trick, however the next one: osql -S ServerIP\MyInstance -d MyDatabase /U sa -P MyPassword ends up with the following error: [SQL Native Client]SQL Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. [SQL Native Client]Login timeout expired [SQL Native Client]An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. The only instance running on the server is MyInstance, which is (I guess) the default one. Could you please put some time in explaining the issue.

    Using Win7 Home Prem with Firefox 3.6 I like using the google search box in the Navigation Toolbar because it's quicker to do a search but as i am English and i am in Thailand it seems to do the search within www.google.co.th by default and so nearly everything on the google search page that comes up is in the Thai language (which is lots of weird squiggles). Is there any way to default the search to google.co.uk or google.com ?? and hence be in English. I can't see anything obvious to change the default search or language??

  • How to customize web-app (pages and UI) for different customers

    We have an ASP.NET web-application which has become difficult to maintain, and I'm looking for ideas on how to redesign it. It's an employee administration system which can be highly customized for each of our customers. Let me explain how it works now: On the default page we have a menu where a user can select a task, such as Create Employee or View Timesheet. I'll use Create Employee as an example. When a user selects Create Employee from the menu, an ASPX page is loaded which contains a dynamically loaded usercontrol for the selected menuitem, e.g. for Create Employee this would be AddEmployee.ascx If the user clicks Save on the control, it navigates to the default page. Some menuitems involve multiple steps, so if the user clicks Next on a multi-step flow then it will navigate to the next page in the flow, and so on until it reaches the final step, where clicking Save navigates to the default page. Some customers may require an extra step in the Create Employee flow (e.g. SecurityClearance.ascx) but others may not. Different customers may use the same ASCX usercontrol, so in the AddEmployee.OnInit we can customize the fields for that customer, i.e. making certain fields hidden or readonly or mandatory. The following things are customizable per customer: Menu items Steps in each flow (ascx control names) Hidden fields in each ascx Mandatory fields in each ascx Rules relating to each ascx, which allows certain logic to be used in the code for that customer The customizations are held in a huge XML file per customer, which could be 7500 lines long. Is there any framework or rules-engine that we could use to customize our application in this way? How do other applications manage customizations per customer?

I guess it is some basic stuff here and appreciate any tips etc. with this.   • Why doesn't my computer work at full speed?

    My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G with an Intel Pentium 4 630 3,0 GHz which doesn't run at it's default speed. It's currently at FSB 800, CPU Host 200 and CPU 3000 MHz; but sometimes it runs at FSB 533, CPU Host 133 and CPU 2025 MHz. Sometimes it's even at FSB 75 and CPU 1128 MHz. When I configure the default settings in Easy Tune then my computer doesn't work. Sometimes I need to clear the CMOS so I can set the default settings in the BIOS, but that doesn't always help. I've updated the BIOS, what else can I do to fix this problem?

  • How to force 640*480@60Hz screen resolution on xubuntu 12.04

    It seems xubuntu won't be able to correctly set resolution at 640*480@60Hz at its Display settings. And I am unable to correctly my super small 6.4 inch Mitsubishi VGA panel via VGA cable. I have tried to hack both X11 conf /etc/X11/Xorg.conf and xfce4 conf, but all the document I can find is outdated. and conf files are changed into other location. Can someone give me a hand and I'll mark correct for other people to use? Thanks! EDIT: The board is an Intel Atom D2700, gpu is SGX545. I tried to use xrandr --output default --mode 640*480 It seems works fine, but refresh rate is 75Hz, but the screen only suports 60Hz So I used xrandr --output default --mode 640*480 --rate 60 but it give error: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Can anyone pointing any directions?

  • Second Monitor Detected, but not receiving a signal after upgrading to 12.04

    After I upgraded to 12.04, my second monitor is detected (in display settings), but will not power on. I have scoured the Internet and forums for a solution and I can't find anything. I have found a couple people with the same problem, but never a solution for it. I am no expert, but I'm certainly not a noob. My computer uses AMD Radeon 6250 graphics, but I do NOT want to use the proprietary graphics drivers. They refuse to work properly with my second monitor (they ATI drivers will only mirror screens, and I've done everything to try to fix it, and I DON't want mirrored screens) Not to mention that the default open-source video drivers seem to work much better than the proprietary anyway! Again, Ubuntu's default video drivers work fine, and they even DETECT the second monitor (Dell 19'). I can drag stuff off the screen and put it on the 'space' of the second monitor and even a screen-shot shows that there are two monitors active; but the monitor is OFF. It will not power on. It goes into 'power-save' mode because it is not receiving a signal. For some reason it is not getting the signal to power on, even though Ubuntu thinks the monitor is working properly. I had this working fine on my Sony VAIO yesterday (with Radeon graphics/default Ubuntu video drivers). I upgraded to a Samsung Series 3 and now I have this issue. I can't for the life of me figure out why the monitor is connected, detected and I have screen space for the monitor, but the screen won't turn on!     I've got a server running Ubuntu 10.04. I've already gotten openssh for ssh and sftp on it. I've been looking for a web-based (http, or preferably https) file server, perhaps a web-front-end to an (S)FTP server, that allows access to a specific folder, and also allows uploads. It requires user authentication, preferably using PAM. This web-based solution is for users that are not allowed to use FTP software / browser extension and don't have flash / java browser plugins within their corporate environments. So far I have looked into: Webmin: Includes a file manager, however it uses Java, and I'm looking for a plugin-free implementation. Apache2: I was able to set up https and PAM authentication, but the barebone implementation doesn't include file upload (as far as I'm aware of). HFS: Haven't tried it out because it is for Windows/wine only, and I don't want to run it under wine.

  • How do I implement a selectable world map?

    I want to have a selectable map of the world, preferably zoomable, in a cocos2d project. When I tap on a country, I want that country to be selected so that I can perform some other operations with it. It seems that the best approach would be to use a vector world map, but I'm unsure how to implement this with cocos2d. Other options include using map tiles, but it seems that still would require the implementation of country polygons for tap/click detection. Depending on user input, I want to add icons to various countries on the map. What is a good way to approach the implementation of this type of map?

    While upgrading from CentOS 5.7 to 5.8 I've received the following warnings: warning: /etc/sysconfig/iptables-config created as /etc/sysconfig/iptables-config.rpmnew warning: /etc/ssh/sshd_config created as /etc/ssh/sshd_config.rpmnew warning: /etc/odbcinst.ini created as /etc/odbcinst.ini.rpmnew (To know the reason for such files, and what one can do with them read - Why do I have .rpmnew file after an update? ) I want to know what exactly has been change in the default config file by comparing the old default file (the original un-changed configuration file) with the new default file (*.rpmnew). Then, I can apply the changes to my modified file (aka diff merge). The problem is I don't know where can I find the original un-changed configuration file...

    I have read somewhere that ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture) is SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) with specific constraints added. SOA is the abstract concept of combining discrete pieces of software and ROA is an implementation of SOA with all of the constraints of RESTful services applied to it: SOA = the concept ROA = the concept + specific implementation details I also had my share of posts saying that ROA is different than SOA, then simply fallback to statements like "ROA is REST" and "SOA is SOAP" and presenting the same more or less pertinent comparisons and differences between SOAP and REST. So just to clear up my confusion: Is ROA a specific form of doing SOA?
