  • Adjusting Timezone - Convert XML DateTime to SQL DateTime

    - by noob.spt
We are using TypedDataSet in our application. Data is passed to procedure in form of XML for insert/update. Now after populating DE with data, datetime remains the same though timezone information is added as below. Date in DB: 2009-10-29 18:52:53.43 Date in XML: 2009-10-29T18:52:53.43-05:00 Now when I am trying to convert below XML to SQL DateTime it is adjusting 5 hours and I am getting 2009-10-29 23:52:53.430 as the final output, which is wrong. Need to find a way to extract datetime from below XML snippet ignoring timezone. I have XML in following format, with timezone difference -05.00 <Order> <EnteredDateTime>2009-10-29T18:52:53.43-05:00</EnteredDateTime> </Order>

  • Are there any tools in IDEs to automatically fix comment formatting?

    - by Fragsworth
/* Suppose I have a multi-line comment with hard line-breaks * that are roughly uniform on the right side of the text, * and I want to add text to a line in order to make the * comment a bit more descriptive. */ Now, most unfortunately, I need to add text to one of the top lines. /* Suppose I have a multi-line comment with hard line-breaks (here is some added text for happy fun time) * that are roughly uniform on the right side of the text, * and I want to add text to a line in order to make the * comment a bit more descriptive. */ It takes O(n) time (n being the number of lines) to fix each line so that they roughly line up again. The computer should do this, not me. Are there tools to deal with this in our IDEs? What are they called?

  • Doctrine generate models - problem with relation type

    - by mrok
I am trying generate doctrine models from yaml schema I have schema like that: Product: columns: id: type: integer(5) primary: true unsigned: true autoincrement: true activation_time: type: datetime notnull: true enduser_id: type: integer(5) unsigned: true notnull: true relations: Enduser: foreignType: one type: one foreignAlias: Product Hostid: columns: id: type: integer(5) primary: true unsigned: true autoincrement: true value: type: string(32) fixed: true notnull: true Order: columns: id: type: integer(5) primary: true autoincrement: true unsigned: true expire_date: type: datetime description: type: clob Enduser: columns: id: type: integer(5) primary: true unsigned: true autoincrement: true hostid_id: type: integer(5) unsigned: true notnull: true order_id: type: integer(5) unsigned: true notnull: true relations: Order: foreignAlias: Endusers Hostid: foreignAlias: Endusers and the problem is that models generated by doctrine generate-models-yaml are wrong in BaseEnduser $Product is defined as Doctrine_Collection $this-hasMany('Product', array( 'local' = 'id', 'foreign' = 'enduser_id')); instead just Product object what did I wrong? relation is defined as foreignType: one type: one

  • Is it possible to join these two regex expressions into one?

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks, i have the following two regular expressions (in order btw). 1. ^~/buying/(.*)\?(.*) => foo= group 1 baa= group 2. 2. ^~/buying/(.*) => foo= group 1 baa= nothing/empty/null/baibai What's i'm trying to do is, if the url has a questionmark, then split it into two groups. Otherwise, just throw all the stuff into the first group. the reason why the order is important for me, is that if i switch them round, the '?' regex will never get fired because the #2 expression (above) will catch all. So .. can this be re-fixed? NOTE: I have tried using this website** to help me debug/tweak .. but I can't figure it out. ** I have no affiliation with that site.

  • Detecting abuse for post rating system

    - by Steven smethurst
I am using a wordpress plugin called "GD Star Rating" to allow my users to vote on stories that I post to one of my websites. http://everydayfiction.com/ Recently we have been having a lot of abuse of the system. Stories that have obviously been voted up artificially. "GD Star Rating" creates some detailed logs when a user votes on a story. Including; IP, Time of vote, and user_adgent, ect.. For example this story has 181 votes with an average of 5.7 http://www.everydayfiction.com/snowman-by-shaun-simon/ Most other stories only get around ~40 votes each day. At first I thought that the story got on to a social bookmarking site Digg, Stumbleupon ect... but after checking the logs I found that this story is getting the same amount of traffic that a normal story gets ~2k-3k. I checked if all the votes for this perpendicular story where coming from a the same IP address. I could see this happening if a user was at a school's computer lab using all their lab computers to vote up this story. Not one duplicate IP address in the log for this story. SELECT ip, COUNT(*) as count FROM wp_gdsr_votes_log WHERE id=3932 GROUP BY (ip ) ORDER BY count DESC Next I thought that a use might be using a proxy to vote up a story. I checked this by grouping all the browser user_agent together to see if there a single browser voting in a perpendicular way. At most 7 users where using a similar browser but voted sporadically (1-5), no evidence of wrong doing. SELECT user_agent, COUNT(*) as count FROM wp_gdsr_votes_log WHERE id=3932 GROUP BY ( user_agent) ORDER BY count DESC I check was to see if all the votes came in at a once. Maybe someone has a really interesting bot that can change the user_adgent and uses proxies, ect... At most 5 votes came with in 2 mins of each other. It doesn't seem to be any regularity on how people vote (IE a 5 vote does not come in once a min) SELECT * FROM wp_gdsr_votes_log WHERE id =3932 AND vote=5 ORDER BY wp_gdsr_votes_log.voted DESC The obvious solution to this problem is to force people to login before they are allowed to vote. But I would prefer to not have to go down that route unless it is absolutely necessary. I'm looking for suggestions on things to test for to detect the abuse.

  • Using a temp table in a view

    - by Dave
Hi Everyone I would really like to create a view. I know you can't use temp tables in MSSQL2005 views. Without rewriting the sql, is there anything obvious I've missed? Backup plan is to use a stored proc. Cheers select * into #temp from vwIncidents SELECT vwIncidents.incidentcode, employeecode, EMPOS.POS_L4_CDA as areaAtTimeOfIncident into #temp1 FROM vwIncidents INNER JOIN EMPOS ON vwIncidents.employeecode = EMPOS.DET_NUMBERA WHERE EMPOS.POS_STARTC < vwIncidents.incidentdate AND (EMPOS.POS_ENDD > vwIncidents.incidentdate OR EMPOS.POS_ENDD IS NULL) order by incidentcode select #temp.*, #temp1.areaAtTimeOfIncident from #temp left outer join #temp1 on #temp.incidentcode = #temp1.incidentcode and #temp.employeecode = #temp1.employeecode order by incidentcode

  • What is the increase in developer productivity while using Hibernate?

    - by Tarun Kohli
I was curious to find out the percentage increase in developer's productivity by using Hibernate. We use both Hibernate and NHibernate extensively and find them to be extremely elegant frameworks but haven't undertaken any study to find out the time savings by using them. IMHO, one could get a good 30 to 40% jump in developer productivity as one doesn't have to write the basic CRUD operations and bother about caching. But, are there are any formal case studies which prove that point? I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to a published white paper about some statistics about the productivity gains.

  • Test driven development - convince me!

    - by Casebash
I know some people are massive proponents of test driven development. I have used unit tests in the past, but only to test operations that can be tested easily or which I believe will quite possibly be correct. Complete or near complete code coverage sounds like it would take a lot of time. What projects do you use test-driven development for? Do you only use it for projects above a certain size? Should I be using it or not? Convince me!

  • Implementing sub fields in a PropertyGrid

    - by evolve
Alright so my terminology when it comes to C# isn't great, so I'll attempt to explain this with a small example. If you create a class which you are using within a PropertyGrid and you have the following values: class Test { public Point example { get; set; } } This will produce a PropertyGrid which has an expandable object "example" which has fields X and Y in order to create a "Point". I'm attempting to create an object "name" which has fields "firstname" and "lastname", so I have: class Test { public Name example { get; set; } } public struct Name { public string firstname { get; set; } public string lastname { get; set; } } This however isn't working as intended. I think I need to override some method(s) in order to get this working, however since I don't really have the terminology down for PropertyGrids it is difficult for me to find a solution. Any help would be great.

  • HTTP compression - can I configure a client to compress the data sent to a server?

    - by lgomide
Hello, I'm using IIS 7 as web server for my application. If I enable dynamic content compression in the server, will this also enable clients to send compressed data to the server, if they can? I mean, my application uses SOAP webservices, and clients usually send large chunks of data to the server. The clients are written in C#/.NET. Is there any kind of configuration I can do in a web reference / serice reference in order to tell them to compress the content before they send it to IIS? And do I have to do any kind of configuration in IIS in order for this to work? Thanks in advance

  • Tcp Socket Closed

    - by Michael Covelli
I always thought that if you didn't implement a heartbeat, there was no way to know if one side of a TCP connection died unexpectedly. If the process was just killed on one side and didn't exit gracefully, there was no way for the socket to send FIN or let the other side know that it was closed. (See some of the comments here for example http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=566568 ) But there is a stock order server that I connect to that has a new "cancel all orders on disconnect feature" that cancels live orders if the client dis-connects. It works even when I kill the process on my end, and there is definitely no heartbeat from my app to it. So how is it able to detect when I've killed the process? My app is running on Windows Server 2003 and the order server is on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10. Does Windows detect that the process associated with the socket is no longer alive and send the FIN?

  • How can I resize an external USB NTFS partition?

    - by chris
I have a new USB drive which came with a single NTFS partition. How can I shrink that so that I can create an ext4 partition? gparted does not seem to have the "Resize" option highlighted. Update: After following the directions below, after unmounting I am still not able to resize the partition. There is a warning though: "Unable to find mount point. Unable to read the contents of this file system! Because of this, some operations may be unavailable. The following list of software packages is required for ntfs file system support: ntfsprogs". However, with the partition mounted, I can read & write to the file system on the drive just fine, and ntfsprogs is installed and current. What's next?

  • How to correctly create a virtual file system?

    - by Paul
A task in my homework assignment asks me to create a virtual file system, mount it, and perform some operations on it. I am supposed to create a file of 10 MB whose bits are all set to 0, format it as ext3 and mount it. This is how I've done that: dd if=/dev/zero of=~/filesyst bs=10485760 count=1 sudo mkfs.ext3 ~/filesyst sudo mount –o loop ~/filesyst /media/fuse Even though I've used /dev/sero, the file i still full of gibberish characters (mostly at-signs). The permissions on /media/fuse are drw-rw-rw- (which are alright), but the permissions on the files inside it are something like this: d????????? ? ? ? ? ? lost+found -????????? ? ? ? ? ? secret_bin Where have I gone wrong?

  • Reverse Bredth First Search in C#

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
Anyone has a ready implementation of the Reverse Bredth First Search algorithm in C#? By Reverse Bredth First Search, I mean instead of searching a tree starting from a common node, I want to search the tree from the bottom and gradually converged to a common node. Let's see the below figure, this is the output of a Bredth First Search: In my reverse bredth first search, 9,10,11 and 12 will be the first few nodes found ( the order of them are not important as they are all first order). 5, 6, 7 and 8 are the second few nodes found, and so on. 1 would be the last node found. Any ideas or pointers?

  • SQL query duration is longer for smaller dataset?

    - by entens
I received reports that a my report generating application was not working. After my initial investigation, I found that the SQL transaction was timing out. I'm mystified as to why the query for a smaller selection of items would take so much longer to return results. Quick query (averages 4 seconds to return): SELECT * FROM Payroll WHERE LINEDATE >= '04-17-2010'AND LINEDATE <= '04-24-2010' ORDER BY 'EMPLYEE_NUM' ASC, 'OP_CODE' ASC, 'LINEDATE' ASC Long query (averages 1 minute 20 seconds to return): SELECT * FROM Payroll WHERE LINEDATE >= '04-18-2010'AND LINEDATE <= '04-24-2010' ORDER BY 'EMPLYEE_NUM' ASC, 'OP_CODE' ASC, 'LINEDATE' ASC I could simply increase the timeout on the SqlCommand, but it doesn't change the fact the query is taking longer than it should. Why would requesting a subset of the items take longer than the query that returns more data? How can I optimize this query?

  • Lucene.NET - sorting by int

    - by Judah Himango
In the latest version of Lucene (or Lucene.NET), what is the proper way to get the search results back in sorted order? I have a document like this: var document = new Lucene.Document(); document.AddField("Text", "foobar"); document.AddField("CreationDate", DateTime.Now.Ticks.ToString()); // store the date as an int lucene.AddDocument(document); Now I want do a search and get my results back in order of most recent. How can I do a search that orders results by CreationDate? All the documentation I see is for old Lucene versions that use now-deprecated APIs.

  • About to graduate from good school without any progamming skills

    - by newprint
Not sure if it is good place to ask this question, but found this section to be suitable. I am about to graduate from a good school (in the US) with Computer Science degree, having good grades and high GPA. I have no freaking clue how to write a good program, how to properly test it... nada, zero. We were never been taught how to write software. Ye, sure the Comp. Architecture class is important, and I can tell you a lot about how MIPS processor works, and I can tell you about Binary Trees and Red-Black Trees and running time of operations in Big Oh, but it has nothing to do with programming in "real" life. For god sake, none of my classmates know how to use STLs or write templated code! To be honest, I found that many of my classes to be waste of time. What should I do ? How to step into real life and learn how to program ?

  • How to overcome fear to draw web-site template? [closed]

    - by Ricky
I have some problem with web-site design. I can understand CSS, I use CSS grid frameworks, etc. But I can't realize my ideas. If I have some template, I can to translate it to HTML and CSS, but I don't understand how to begin with web-design for web-site from scratch. I think that I was afraid to draw or can't understand first steps. How to overcome this fear? May be some specific techniques like mind maps to streamline operations? or something else..? Or you can share what you are doing when begin. If any one have some ideas.. Thank you!
