    Should the view have nothing event specific in its interface and call the presenter plain methods to handle events and not have any official EventHandlers? My intention is to understand the benefits of each style and not just a blanket answer of which to use. My main goals is clarity and high value testability. Testability overall is important, but I wouldn't sacrifice design simplicity and clarity to be able to add another type of test that doesn't lead to too much gain over the test cases already possible with a simpler design. If a design choice does off more testability please include an example (pseudo code is fine) of the type of test it can now offer so I can make my decision if I value that type of extra test enough.   • ProgressDialog not working in external AsyncTask

    I'm beginning to think that to get a ProgressDialog to work the AsyncTask has to be an inner class within an Activity class. True? I have an activity the uses a database to manipulate information. If the database is populated all is well. If it is not populated then I need to download information from a website, populate the database, then access the populated database to complete the Views in onCreate. Problem is without some means to determine when the AsyncTask thread has finished populating the database, I get the following Force Close error message: Sorry! The application has stopped unexpectedly. I click on the Force Close button, the background AsyncTask thread continues to work, the database gets populated, and everything works ok. I need to get rid of that error message and need some help on how to do this.     Hi, I want to post code snippets online (wordpress.com blog) - and have its whitespace formatted nicely. See the answers suggested by this other SO question: Those would be OK, except that I like to copy code to clip board or clip entire pages using Evernote - and they use either the <pre> tag or <table> (or both) to format the code. So I end up with text whose newlines and white spaces ignored, e.g. string url = "<a href=\"" + someObj.getUrl() + "\" target=\"_blank\">"; // single line comments // second single line override protected void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { if(Attributes["class"]&nbsp;!= null) { //_year.CssClass = _month.CssClass = _day.CssClass = Attributes["class"]; } base.OnLoad(e); } Which I find rather annoying myself.     I need to set the ErrorMessage property of the DataAnnotation's validation attribute in MVC 2.0. For example I should be able to pass an ID instead of the actual error message for the Model property, for example... [StringLength(2, ErrorMessage = "EmailContentID")] [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress)] public string Email { get; set; } Then use this ID ("EmailContentID") to retrieve some content(error message) from a another service e.g database. Then the error error message is displayed to the user instead of the ID. In order to do this I need to set the DataAnnotation validation attribute’s ErrorMessage property. It seems like a stright forward task by just overriding the DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider‘s protected override IEnumerable GetValidators(ModelMetadata metadata, ControllerContext context, IEnumerable attributes) However it is complicated now.... A. MVC DatannotationsModelValidator’s ErrorMessage property is readonly. So I cannot set anything here B. System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotationErrorMessage property(get and set) which is already set in MVC DatannotationsModelValidator so I cannot set it again.   • Dynamically loaded control - how can I access a value in Page_Init

    I am loading a LinkButton dynamically when a user clicks on another LinkButton. I am attaching an event handler to it. When the user clicks on the dynamically loaded LinkButton, the event does not fire. From what I've been reading, I understand this is because when the page posts back the dynamically loaded control no longer exists. It looks like I'm supposed to make sure this control is recreated in Page_Init. The dynamically created LinkButton is dependedent on a value (Product ID). I need someway to access this value so I can properly create the control. ViewState is not accessible and I'm concerned if I use Session it could time out and then that wouldn't help. Any ideas? Also, I hardcoded a Product ID value just for testing, and that still did not cause the event to fire.     With the code below, what I wanted was paginate the query I created. But, when I try to add paginate after get, it throws an error. I wanted to remain get since I want to limit to columns that was set on $fields. What would should be the better idea to paginate this thing? or what's a good substitute for get and limit the columns?     Hi, I have a simple ASP page with databound grid (bound to an object source). The grid is within the page of a wizard and has a 'select' checkbox for each row. In one stage of the wizard, I bind the GridView: protected void Wizard1_NextButtonClick(object sender, WizardNavigationEventArgs e) { ... // Bind and display matches GridViewMatches.EnableViewState = true; GridViewMatches.DataSource = getEmailRecipients(); GridViewMatches.DataBind(); And when the finish button is clicked, I iterate through the rows and check what's selected: protected void Wizard1_FinishButtonClick(object sender, WizardNavigationEventArgs e) { // Set the selected values, depending on the checkboxes on the grid. foreach (GridViewRow gr in GridViewMatches.Rows) { Int32 personID = Convert.ToInt32(gr.Cells[0].Text); CheckBox selected = (CheckBox) gr.Cells[1].FindControl("CheckBoxSelectedToSend"); But at this stage GridViewMatches.Rows.Count = 0! I don't re-bind the grid, I shouldn't need to, right? I expect the view-state to maintain the state. (Also, if I do rebind the grid, my selection checkboxes will be cleared) NB: This page also dynamically adds user controls in OnInit method. I have heard that it might mess with the view state, but as far as I can tell, I am doing it correctly and the viewstate for those added controls seems to work (values are persisted between postbacks) Thanks a lot in advance for any help! Ryan UPDATE: Could this be to do with the fact I am setting the datasource programatically? I wondered if the asp engine was databinding the grid during the page lifecycle to a datasource that was not yet defined. (In a test page, the GridView is 'automatically' databound'. I don't want the grid to re-bound I just want the values from the viewstate from the previous post! Also, I have this in the asp header: ViewStateEncryptionMode="Never" - this was to resolve an occasional 'Invalid Viewstate Validation MAC' message Thanks again Ryan

  • Android addTextChangedListener onTextChanged not fired when Backspace is pressed?

    I use addTextChangeListener to filter a list items. When the user enters a character on the editText, items are filtered based on user input. For example, if the user enters "stackoverflow", all items that contains "stackoverflow" are displayed. It works fine except that once the user press backspace to delete character(s), items are no longer filtered until he deletes all characters. For example, my items are: "stackoverflow 1", "stackoverflow 2", "stackoverflow 3", "stackoverflow 4". If user input is "stackoverflow", all items are displayed. If user input is "stackoverflow 1", only "stackoverflow 1" is displayed. Then user deletes the last 2 characters (1 and the space). User input is now "stackoverflow" but "stackoverflow 1" is still displayed and the other items are not displayed.     I seem to be having a problem with using ItemizedOverlay and OveralyItems in it. I can get the first overlayItem to appear on the map but not any items after that.   • Postback problem when using URL Rewrite and 404.aspx

    I'm using URL rewrite on my site to get URLs like: http://mysite.com/users/john instead of http://mysite.com/index.aspx?user=john To achive this extensionless rewrite with IIS6 and no access to the hosting-server I use the "404-approach". When a request that the server can't find, the mapped 404-page is executed, since this is a aspx-page the rewrite can be performed (I can setup the 404-mapping using the controlpanel on the hosting-service). That is when I request: http://mysite.com/users/john.aspx Can this be solved or is there any other solution that fulfil my requirements (IIS6, no serveraccess/ISAPI-filter and extensionless).

When I try to send this object back over the WCF service I get the log output OnSerializing of Team called ENetLogic.ENetPerson.Model.FirstPartyPerson[] After this my unit test crashes with a System.ExecutionEngineException, which means the WCF service is not able to serialize the array. (maybe because it expected a IList<) So, my question is: Does anybody know why the type of my IList< is an array after deserializing and why I can't serialize my Team object any longer after that?     Hi, all. I'm facing what I think is a simple problem with Hibernate, but can't get over it (Hibernate forums being unreachable certainly doesn't help). Because otherwise I get an error saying: "A master name cannot be specified when the view is a ViewUserControl."     We would like to enumerate all strings in a resource file in .NET (resx file). We want this to generate a javascript object containing all these key-value pairs. How can we enumerate all localization strings in a resx file? UPDATE: Following Dennis Myren's comment and the ideas from here, I built a ResXResourceManager. Now I can do the same with .resx files as I did with the embedded resources. Here is the code. Note that Microsoft made a needed constructor private, so I use reflection to access it.     Hi, I'M just trying to get started with Ninject 2 and ASP.NET MVC 2. I have followed this tutorial http://www.craftyfella.com/2010/02/creating-aspnet-mvc-2-controller.html to create a Controller Factory with Ninject and to bind a first abstract to a concrete implementation. Now I want to load a repository type from another assembly (where my concrete SQL Repositories are located) and I just cant get it to work. The kernel.Load(System.Reflection.Assembly.Load("MyAssembly")); also does its job and registers the module but as soon as I call on the controller which needs the repository I get an ActivationException from Ninject: No matching bindings are available, and the type is not self-bindable. Activation path: 2) Injection of dependency CommunityUserRepository into parameter _rep of constructor of type AccountController 1) Request for AccountController Can anyone give me a best practice example for binding types from external assemblies (which really is an important aspect of Dependency Injection)? It is nnot getting updated since the timer_tick is not a post back event

But when I refresh the page, by hitting the refresh button in firefox, the label shows value 0 (as it's supposed to) but the dropdownlist shows 5. I checked the page html source and the dropdown has selected value 0, but shows 5. However, When I refresh the page by putting cursor in address bar and press enter everythig works fine (drowdownlist shows 0). The problem occurs only in FireFox (I've got version 3.5.7). Any ideas what can cause this problem?
