    I am new to ruby on rails. I am using passenger 3.0.17 to deploy my ruby 3.2.6 project. My project is working fine but i got 500 internal error when i try to upload files on server.   • pg_dump not working - do I need to change order of $PATH?

    I'm trying to set the $PATH to pick up the latest version of pg_dump as I'm currently getting a mismatch error while doing a migrate in my Rails app (I recently changed the schema type to SQL). I have added a new file in /etc/profile.d called pg_dump.sh, and inside that put: PG_DUMP=/usr/pgsql-9.1 export PG_DUMP PATH=$PATH:$PG_DUMP/bin export PATH On looking at echo $PATH, I get: /usr/local/rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p194/bin:/usr/local/rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p194@global/bin:/usr/local/rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.3-p194/bin:/usr/local/rvm/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/pgsql-9.1/bin:/root/bin And I still get the error. Do I need to change the order? If so any ideas how?   • Apache local verses external (domain)

    I have an Apache server running on Ubuntu server 10, using Passenger for Ruby on Rails. I have configured my site under the sites-enabled directory of Apache and can hit the server with an internal IP address (192.168.X.X) and the site comes back as expected. However, whenever I try to hit the site externally, either through the domain name or the IP address tied to the domain name, the site will not come back. I have a router in the middle with a static IP address, with Port Forwarding turned on (forwarding 80/443) to the server and I'm quite confident the issue isn't there. In fact, I even DMZed to the Ubuntu Server just to make sure. Also, all router firewall options have been turned off. So here is the question... Is there something else I have to do with Ubuntu server to allow externally requested port 80 traffic? Otherwise, is there some settings that need to be set in Apache to allow domain or external IP address port 80 traffic through? I'm pretty new to Apache, so, please take it a bit easy on me :-) Thank you for your responses. -Jessy Houle

  • unicorn and nginx, went wrong

    I try to deploy my app via capistrano. It was done, but when I start to nginx and show my site in the browser I see 'We're sorry, but something went wrong.' It is bad. I use unicorn.   • Web service for checking out / leasing a token

    I run a web site on AWS that has a number of web servers (say 4 of them) running behind a load balancer. For this particular web site, I have one license key of New Relic for doing instrumentation. At any one time, I only want one of the 4 web servers to be using the key. If that server goes offline, I want one of the remaining web servers to be able to begin using the license key. Does anyone know of a service that would let me manage this process? The service would not particularly need to store the key itself but rather just manage the fact that only one web server can lease out the right to use the key at any time. Something where the web servers would have to come back every few minutes and renew their lease, and if they don't it becomes available to someone else. I just realized I could maybe accomplish a hacked version of this using a file on S3, but that doesn't prevent race conditions / etc and is definitely hackish. Any thoughts welcome. FWIW, this site is built on Ruby on Rails. Thanks! JP

  • Passenger and ServerAlias not cooperating

    I have a ruby application that runs on a server with multiple IP addresses and mutliple vhosts. Here is the configuration of the problematic virtual host: <VirtualHost 10.0.0.10:80> ServerName realname.example.com ServerAlias alias.example.com DocumentRoot /var/www/sites/example/current/public <Directory /var/www/sites/example/current/public> AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews </Directory> ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/example_error_log CustomLog /var/log/httpd/example_access_log common RailsEnv production RackEnv production </VirtualHost> When I pull up realname.example.com the Ruby on Rails application works correctly. On the other hand alias.example.com just gives me Not Found: / I'm fairly certain the correct vhost is getting used because alias.example.com produces a 404 in the correct log file. I've tried adding logging to the Passenger config and it seems to indicate that Passenger is getting the request. Note: I can't redirect alias.example.com to realname.example.com. realname is accessed using a CDN, whereas alias is directly accessed. Anyone have any ideas why this isn't working? I've been banging my head for days and I've got a similar configuration in QA that works as expected.

  • HELP!! Delayed-job: Rake aborted! Can't modify frozen hash

    Too bad even the trace doesn't say which hash is involved. Sorry this post is long: am trying to provide enough context to be meaningful. Occurs intermittently when rake jobs:work is pulling a command out of delayed_jobs while my status observer is in the process of parsing a log file for detailed results of the previous delayed_job denizen. I have an observer class (in RAILS_ROOT/lib ) which listens for the events, makes a copy of them and calls the owner class ( in apps/models ) which then calls on the log parser (also in /lib) to do the actual work. (Should both of those classes, the observer and the parser be in app/models?) Am due to deliver this application in a few days and this is killing it (and me). Am using DirectoryWatcher to look for flag files that indicate the start and finish of the delayed_jobs.     Too bad even the trace doesn't say which hash is involved. Sorry this post is long: am trying to provide enough context to be meaningful. Occurs intermittently when rake jobs:work is pulling a command out of delayed_jobs while my status observer is in the process of parsing a log file for detailed results of the previous delayed_job denizen. I have an observer class (in RAILS_ROOT/lib ) which listens for the events, makes a copy of them and calls the owner class ( in apps/models ) which then calls on the log parser (also in /lib) to do the actual work. (Should both of those classes, the observer and the parser be in app/models?) Am due to deliver this application in a few days and this is killing it (and me). Am using DirectoryWatcher to look for flag files that indicate the start and finish of the delayed_jobs.     I'm modeling a simple movie database using Django. models.py defines a base model Person. I extend Person into Actor and Director, which works as I imagined. Persons must be unique. When (in the Admin) I create an instance of Actor, and this person is also a Director, it won't save because of the unique = True. Any ideas how to solve this problem? (generic foreign keys?) Thx

This what I've done: Create a new app "extendedprofile" Wrote a models.py that extends the satchmo_store.contact.models class and add the custom name fields. wrote an admin.py that unregister the Contact class and register my newapp but this still showing me the default user profile form. Maybe some one can show me the correct way to do this?

I would like to use tabs in the "change form", so things can be more readable (group fields by tabs...)   • Permission to view, but not to change! - Django

    Hi folks, is it possible to give users the permission to view, but not to change or delete. currently in the only permissions I see are "add", "change" and "delete"... but there is no "read/view" in there. I really need this as some users will only be able to consult the admin panel, in order to see what has been added in. Help would be amazing!

  • Nginx with Passenger setup problems

    I'm trying to setup nginx webserver with Passenger support for Ruby on Rails application on Ubuntu 10.04 (on sub URI). All went fine until I tried to access the server/application from the browser. My instalation of nginx is in location /opt/nginx # my nginx.conf server { listen 80; server_name www.mydomain.com; root /websites/site/public; passenger_enabled on; passenger_base_uri /site; location / { # added by default, I don't know if its supposed to be here or not root html; index index.html index.htm; } Then I started the server. But when I put www.mydomain.com/site in browser I get 404 Not Found error.
