• Sharepoint Blog Category view - Pagination issue...

  Folks, I am facing a rather strange issue. In my Sharepoint Blog, I am not able to view more than 10 posts when I click on the Category filter page. The page only shows the latest 10 posts and when I click on the pagination for the next 10, it simply says that "There are no posts in this category." I tried searching online and some one had a solution to it too, but that is with the Query String (URL) Filter which is not available in MOSS2007 Standard edition... How can I get around this? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

• Loading an OverlayView from XIB -vs- programmatically for use with UIImagePickerController

  I am currently making a camera app for iPhone and I have a strange phenomenon that I can't figure out. I would appreciate some help understanding. When recreating an overlay view for passing to UIImagePickerController, I have been successfully been able to create the view programmatically. What I haven't been able to do is create the view with/without controller in IB, load it and pass it to the overlay pointer successfully. If I do it via IB, the view is not opaque and obscures the view of the camera completely. I can not figure out why. I was thinking that the normal view pointer might be assigned when loading from XIB and therefore overwrite the camera's view, but I have an example programmatically where view and overlayView are set equal in the controller class. Perhaps the load order is overwriting a pointer? Help would be appreciated... kind regards.

  I know the title is a bit confusing but bare with me. (I'm up for suggestions on a new title lol) I'm writing a TemplateEngine that will allow me to use my own markup in text based files. I'm wanting to add controls as plugins as the application matures. Currently i've got a structure like the following: interface IControl string Id object Value class Label : IControl string Id string Value class Repeater : IControl string Id List<IControl> Value Now you'll see the strange part right away in the Repeater class with the Value property. I was hoping that having the Value type as object in the interface would allow me the flexibility to expand the controls as i go along. The compiler doesn't like this and for good reason i guess. Does anyone have any suggestions how to accomplish this? Note: Please don't go into suggesting things like use Spark View Engine for templating. There is a reason i'm creating extra work for myself.

  Hello, I have a strange problem replacing chars in string... I read a .txt file containing russian text, and starting from a list of letters russian to english (ru=en), I loop the list and I WOULD like to replace russian characters with english characters. The problem is: I can see in the debug the right reading of the russian and the right reading of the english, but using myWord = myWord.Replace(ruChar, enChar), the string is not replaced. My txt file is a UTF-8 encoding. Any suggestions?? Thank you to all...

  I was just wondering how i would be able to code perform an SQL query and then place each row into a new array, for example, lets say a table looked like the following: $people= mysql_query("SELECT * FROM friends") Output: | ID | Name | Age | --1----tom----32 --2----dan----22 --3----pat----52 --4----nik----32 --5----dre----65 How could i create a multidimensional array that works in the following way, the first rows second column data could be accessed using $people[0][1] and fifth rows third column could be accessed using $people[4][2]. How would i go about constructing this type of array? Sorry if this is a strange question, its just that i am new to PHP+SQL and would like to know how to directly access data. Performance and speed is not a issue as i am just writing small test scripts to get to grips with the language.

• Removing entity bug

  hello, I am trying out the ria services and I am experiencing this problem that seems very strange to me. I am creating a new entity of type "House" and add it to context without saving the context so the id of the new entity is 0, after i remove this entity and add another new entity of type "House" again and again without saving the context, here comes the weird part, now I have an entity of type "City" which holds entityset of all "Houses" in that city, so to put the newly created entity "House" into the city i do something like this - house.City = city, where house is type "House" and city is type "City", afte this step a check the context and suddenly there are 2 entities of type "House" with id 0, one of them is the one I have deleted at the beginning. Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?? thank you Greg

• GWT application throws an exception when run on Google Chrome with compiler output style set to 'OBF

  I'd like to know if you guys have faced the same problem I'm facing, and how you are dealing with it. Sometimes, a small and harmless change in a Java class ensues strange errors at runtime. These errors only happen if BOTH conditions below are true: 2) the application is run on Google Chrome, and 1) the GWT JavaScript compiler output style is set to 'OBF'. So, running the application on Firefox or IE always works. Running with the output style set to 'pretty' or 'detailed' always works, even on Google Chrome. Here's an example of error message that I got: "((TypeError): Property 'top' of object [object DOMWindow] is not a function stack" And here's what I have: - GWT 1.5.3 - GXT 1.2.4 - Google Chrome 4 and 5 - Windows XP In order to get rid of this Heisenbug, I have to either deploy my application without obfuscation or endure a time-consuming trial-and-error process in which I re-implement the change in slightly different ways and re-run the application, until the GWT compiler is happy with my code. Would you have a better idea on how to avoid this?

• wp_redirect acting weird. requires die() afterward?

  I am writing a wordpress plugin that redirects the user. for some reason, wp_redirect does not work as think it should, namely: it seems not to redirect the user at all, unless I put a die command in directly after. here is some code: switch($_GET['wp_favorites_tax']) { case 'post_tag': wp_redirect(add_query_arg('tag', $_GET['wp_favorites_term'], get_bloginfo('url'))); die(); break; case 'category': wp_redirect(add_query_arg('cat', $_GET['wp_favorites_term'], get_bloginfo('url'))); die(); break; default: wp_redirect(get_bloginfo('url')); die(); } It seems really strange to me that I should have to tell my script to die so that the redirect can work.   Hi. I have an issue with System.Threading.Timer. I am scheduling some actions using a time in a windows service. The timer starts executing the callback after a specified dueTime period. The windows service starts up after reboot automatically. However, I have observed a strange thing after a system reboot- the callback method starts executing itself 3 or 4 minutes before the specified period. What might be the reason for such behavior? Here is the sample code: TimeSpan timeToWait = this.StartTime - DateTime.Now; Int64 msToSleep = (Int64)Math.Round(timeToWait.TotalMilliseconds); _timer = new Timer(callback_method, null, msToSleep, MinutesScheduledInterval * 60000); where _timer is a member variable, StartTime - the time when the timer should first fire.

• Error calling webservice from JQuery

  I have a strange problem when I'm trying to call a simple webservice method from Jquery. Locally it works fine, but on my test-server it does not. The jquery request looks like this (only showing the actual request and not the rest of the method): $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Service/Service.asmx/AddTab", data: "tab=" + element.innerHTML, success: function(msg) { alert('success'); } }); When I run this locally from the test-server it works fine, which has me wondering if it could be some setting that I've missed in the IIS. If I navigate to the .asmx file and click the AddTab method I get a list of SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2 XML, but not the HTTP POST request. If I navigate to it locally I get all three (SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2 and HTTP Post) The service is set up as follows: [WebService(Namespace = "mynamespace")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] [ScriptService()] public class Service : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession=true)] [ScriptMethod()] public void AddTab(string tab) { //Some code to add a tab which evidently works locally... } } Anyone have a clue what I'm missing here?

• J2ME TextField Exception

  When I instantiate a textField, I have a number in it that I want to be the default text. The problem is, I can't seem to be able to place that value into the textfield without getting an error. The strange thing about it is that the same TextField is what I use to set the value of the variable containing the number. TextField myTF = new TextField("Number", value, 10, TextField.NUMERIC); When I run this code, I receive an exception stating that value doesn't match the constraints of TextField.NUMERIC. However, when I check the vale of the value of the variable, I get the following output: value = 1234567890 value.length() = 10 The value is set by the same TextField, saved to the phone that I am working on, and when loaded from the phone's settings, throws an exception.

• Simple Android OpenGL App Lag

  Hi, I have an Android OpenGL application which simply draws 2D squares (using 2 triangles) and animates them moving down the screen. I essentially do this by running: glLoadIdentity(), then glTranslatef, and finally glDrawElements all in a for loop. (The for loop is to draw all 10 blocks on the screen for every frame). In every drawFrame, the y-position of the blocks increments for the animation. The problem I'm having is strange. I run the application and the animation is laggy and not smooth. Then I re-run the application and I get a smooth animation. If I run again, I may get a smooth animation, or possibly not. Is my method correct, or is there a better way of doing this animation?   Am adding an Entity Data Model to an ASP.NET website. When i Add New Item to the website and select ADO.NET Entity Data Model, am asked for the model name and language. I go a head and select Visual Basic as the language, the model is added and the site can compile with out any issues. however, the model it adds a ModelName.Designer.cs source file, instead of a ModelName.Designer.vb source file. am thinking this is strange as its happening with only one of my website. my other sites have .vb designer source file for their Entity Data Models. The site still compiles with out any errors but am afraid some thing is not right. any one experienced this?, is this normal behavior?

• Why are $_POST variables getting escaped in PHP?

  When my PHP script receives data from an AJAX POST request, the $_POST variables are escaped. The really strange thing is that this only happens on my production server (running PHP 5.2.12 on Linux) and not on my local server (running PHP 5.3.1 on Windows). • iOS localization inconsistency

  I'm localizing an iPhone app for the first time. I've put all my strings into a Localizable.strings file, accessing them via NSLocalizedString from within my code. Works fine. Next, I have a file called info.html that contains the flesh of a UIWebView that I use as an About box. I've put it in the language folders (en.lproj and de.lproj), and added them to my Resources in Xcode. Now, in Simulator, both the Strings, and the html file display in the appropriate language. However, on the device, the Strings appear localized while the html file remains untranslated. This is a strange inconsistency between Simulator and Device! Anybody know of a workaround? (...other than defying the localization system, and using NSLocalizedString to call de_info.html, en_info.html etc. by hand.)

• fileinfo and mime types I've never heard of

  I'm not a stranger to mime types but this is strange. Normally, a text file would have been considered to be of text/plain mime but now, after implementing fileinfo, this type of file is now considered to be "text/x-pascal". I'm a little concerned because I need to be sure that I get the correct mime types set before allowing users to upload with it. Is there a cheat sheet that will give me all of the "common" mimes as they are interpreted by fileinfo? Sinan provided a link that lists all of the more common mimes. If you look at this list, you will see that a .txt file is of text/plain mime but in my case, a plain-jane text file is interpreted as text/pascal.

  When starting the server, I get this strange error after updating to Ruby 1.9: " [BUG] cross-thread violation on rb_gc() ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-11) [i386-mswin32] This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. " My mongrel version is 1.1.6, which should be compatible with Ruby 1.9. I also still have the Ruby 1.8.6 installation, so i assume that for some reason mongrel tries to access that and kills ruby? My rails version is 2.3.4, in case it matters.

  Hi My ASP.Net app is periodically getting the error 'Cannot find the object dbo."XXXX" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions' when it tries to execute a specific stored procedure that writes to the database. I have seen a few forum posts about this issue but the strange thing is that the method works fine almost all of the time, just every now and then I see it in my error logs. • Error in R for missing object

  I have several nested functions, some of which as called in lapply clauses. In the process, sometimes I don't set a default for a parameter and instead check if it was supplied using the missing function. I'm getting a strange error right now when I'm not passing a value for a parameter, it has no default, yet missing resolves to FALSE. And when I try to use or check the parameter in any other way (using length, exists, etc.), I get an error: Error in try(length(x)) : argument "data" is missing, with no default Has anyone experienced this failure of the missing function before?

• insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext: returning NSNumber bug?

  I'm relatively well versed in CoreData and have been using it for several years with little or no difficulty. For the life of me, I can't figure out why insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext: is all of a sudden returning some sort of strange instance of NSNumber. GDB says the returned object is of the correct custom subclass of NSManagedObject, but when I go to print a description of the NSManagedObject itself, I get the following error: *** -[NSCFNumber objectID]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3f26f50 What's even stranger, is that I'm able to set some relationships and attributes using setValue:forKey: and all is good. But when I try to set one specific relationship, I get this error: *** -[NSCFNumber entity]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3f26f50 I've tried everything from clean all targets, to restarting both mac and iPhone, even editing the model so that the relationship in question is to-one instead of to-many. No matter what I do, the same problem appears. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

• Has anyone noticed that a WPF file dialog will pass a click through to the UI when double clicking t

  I have some buttons on my WPF UI and I also need to choose files from time to time. I kept noticing strange problems where when I double-click an item in the file dialog, a button on the main UI would also get clicked. After experimenting, it seems that if you line up an item in the file dialog with a button behind it on the main UI and double click to select the file, it will single-click the button behind it as well. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just a freak bug with the way I have my UI laid out?
