  • Server-side Javascript (aspx.cs) Attributes.Add Code to Change a Label's text

    - by DFM
    I am trying to change a label's text by using server-side javascript (onclick) and C# within the page_load event. For example, I would like to write something like the following: Label1.Attributes.Add("onclick", "Label2.text='new caption'") Does anyone know the correct code for this? Also, what is this type of code referred to; is it just javascript or javascript in C# or is there a specific name? Lastly, does a book or online resource exist that lists the choices of control.attributes.add("event", "syntax") code to use with C#? Thank you, DFM

  • changing text periodically in a span from an array with jquery

    - by Peter Clark
    I have a span, eg: <p>Here is a sentence <span id="rotate">this</span> is what changes</p> and I'd like the contents of that span to change every few moments between a list of terms, so the contents might change to be: <span id="rotate">then</span> <span id="rotate">thus</span> and so on. I'd like the text to fade out and then the new text fade in. Whats the best way to do this via jquery?

  • Right align text in an image with imagettftext(), PHP

    - by James Simpson
    I am setting up dynamic forum signature images for my users and I want to be able to put their username on the image. I am able to do this just fine, but since usernames are different lengths and I want to right align the username, how can I go about doing this when I have to set x & y coordinates. $im = imagecreatefromjpeg("/path/to/base/image.jpg"); $text = "Username"; $font = "Font.ttf"; $black = imagecolorallocate($im, 0, 0, 0); imagettftext($im, 10, 0, 217, 15, $black, $font, $text); imagejpeg($im, null, 90);

  • Dash surrounding text

    - by Brandon Hansen
    Given the above dynamically generated text (meaning that I can't just use an image), I am trying to recreate the design using just html and css selectors. I would like to just use a single h4 with the containing text, but am open to other solutions. I would prefer to not use absolute positioning, but again, if that is the only way, then so be it. I have tried surrounding with span tags, but those are inline elements that don't have an inherent width. The h4 will be nested within a div, though not always of the same class or id. Any ideas or resources to get me started?

  • Hide long text except the first two paragraphs

    - by Barbara
    I have a very long text and I need to hide everything except the first two paragraphs. For various reasons I'd rather not use jquery for this site. Can this be done with css only? I know nth-child most likely will do the trick but I'm having troubles coming up with a specific rule. <div class="text"> <p>display<p> <p>display</p> <p>hide from this point</p> <p>...</p> </div>

  • Getting the text from a drop-down box

    - by Teifion
    This gets the value of whatever is selected in my dropdown menu. document.getElementById('newSkill').value I cannot however find out what property to go after for the text that's currently displayed by the drop down menu. I tried "text" then looked at W3Schools but that didn't have the answer, does anybody here know? For those not sure, here's the HTML for a drop down box. <select name="newSkill" id="newSkill" <option value="1"A skill</option <option value="2"Another skill</option <option value="3"Yet another skill</option </select Thanks

  • Selecting Element followed by text with Selenium WebDriver

    - by Andrew
    I am using Selenium WebDriver and the Python bindings to automate some monotonous WordPress tasks, and it has been pretty straightforward up until this point. I am trying to select a checkbox, but the only way that I can identify it is by the text following it. Here is the relevant portion of HTML: <li id="product_cat-52"> <label class="selectit"> <input value="52" type="checkbox" name="tax_input[product_cat][]" id="in-product_cat-52"> polishpottery </label> </li> The only information that I have in my script to identify this checkbox is the string "polishpottery". Is there any way to select that checkbox knowing only the text that follows?

  • Receive input over TCP/IP and use it to update HTML

    - by mawg
    This has got to be a FAQ, so can someone please just direct me to a "network programming for dummies" URL? The server wants to push information to a client or broadcast to all, when an event happens - as opposed to the clients constantly polling the server "just in case". The client then updates a browser page display. How do I do that? (toldya it was a n00b question) Should I have a thread which receives info on a socket and then writes it to a database which the browser display (PHP) can process with an HTML refresh tag, or what? Sorry to sound so dumb.

  • Drupal CCK Text field not saving.

    - by Mark Milbourne
    Hey Guys, I've been trying to write a CCK Field based on the Text field. But if I create a standard CCK Text field with only 1 value. Then edit a content item for this type, the values are never persisted. When I go back in and edit the same node, the value isn't there. I checked the database and its not in the table for the CCK node. If I use more than one value it works fine. I'm upto date on CCK (6.x-2.6) and CTools (6.x-1.5). Has anyone seen this? and a possible solution?

  • Complex (?) Unix Text Replace Command

    - by Matrym
    What's the command line equivalent of: For every file that contains "AAA" within its contents, find "BBB" and replace it with "CCC" Thus, the command would match and replace BBB in a file: <html> <head></head> <body> AAA Hello world! BBB </body> </html> But Not in a file: <html> <head></head> <body> Don't match me! BBB </body> </html> Thanks in advance!

  • C++'s unordered_map / hash_map / Google's dense_hash - how to input binary data (buf+len) and insert

    - by shlomif
    Hi all, I have two questions about Google's dense_hash_map, which can be used instead of the more standard unordered_map or hash_map: How do I use an arbitrary binary data memory segment as a key: I want a buffer+length pair, which may still contain some NUL (\0) characters. I can see how I use a NUL-terminated char * string , but that's not what I want. How do I implement an operation where I look if a key exists, and if not - insert it and if it does return the pointer to the existing key and let me know what actually happened. I'd appreciate it if anyone can shed any light on this subject. Regards, -- Shlomi Fish

  • TextBox loses text when InvokeRequired == false

    - by Tom
    This is modified code I found on this site. When appending text to a TextBox and InvoveRequired is false the text will display in the box but the next time the function is called and InvokeRequired is true the text string placed by the first call is lost (""). Multiple calls when InvokeRequired is true work as expected. comBox is a type TextBox with multline = true. Any help would be appreciated. public void LogComText(string comText, bool newline) { if (comBox.InvokeRequired) { comBox.BeginInvoke(new Action(delegate { LogComText(comText, newline); })); return; } comBox.AppendText(comText); if (newline) comBox.AppendText(Environment.NewLine); }
