• How can I link in both remote and local assets into a webview?

  I'm loading HTML-formatted content into my app from a web service, then plugging that into a local HTML template that lives within the app. Now, I need to set the UIWebView's BaseURL to point at the remote server so that all relative image links will load. However, I'm also trying to link in some local assets (CSS, JavaScript). Thus far, I have not found any documentation on how to link in local assets without relying on the UIWebView's baseURL. I've tried injecting the absolute file path of my CSS and JS into my HTML template, but it hasn't worked... I don't know if that means that it doesn't work, or if I'm just doing it wrong. Has anyone ever run into this scenario, and if so, how did you address it? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any tips!

• Unity setting problem when defined in code

  I have problem when asking for default ILogger from Unity container. I have this setting defined in code (its VB.net) Dim container As IUnityContainer ... container.RegisterType(Of ILogger, NullLogger)() container.RegisterType(Of ILogger, EntLibLogger)("EL") When I am getting ILogger from container I may have different name, like: Ioc.Resolve(Of ILogger)("MyLogger") However this raises error as the mapping is not set for 'MyLogger'. Can I force container to return type which was registered without name? Actually when I used setting from web.config it worked. Any tips most welcome. Thanks. Cheers, X.

• Retractable button bar using animations

  I want to create a button bar that is retractable: when the user clicks on a special "handle" button, the button bar should slide out of view partially so only the handle remains visible. When the bar is in retracted state only the handle is visible. Clicking on the handle should "slide out" the button bar so it is completely visible again. Ideally, the bar would start out in retracted state. I have tried some approaches using TranslateAnimation, including using a layout animation or calling "View.startAnimation" when the handle is clicked, but no luck so far. Do you guys have any tips how to approach this? Is there any decent documentation out there regarding Android animations? The documentation I find is sketchy at best. For instance, I found examples that cause a view to slide into view automatically using TranslateAnimation and a LayoutAnimationController when calling "addView", but when I call removeView no animation seems to be triggered at all, even if I set an animation that should create the opposite motion.

• XAML : How to change background color only in Design mode?

  I have a control with white text foreground color and transparent background color. Later on this usercontrol will be added into a different control that carries the real background color. However during designing this, control due white foreground on white background in VS 2010, I can't obviously see anything. In there anyway to define a different color for just the design time? I have tried this: if (System.ComponentModel.DesignerProperties.IsInDesignTool) { LayoutRoot.Background = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Blue); } But this doesn't work. Any tips? Thanks, Kave

• has anyone tried designing a webpage for psp?

  erm im trying to make a personal bible for my psp (i tried googling but the only bible version i've seen on my skimming is on KJV and im trying to make mine have 3 versions namely TNIV, NLT and Amplified Bible) so my only solution was to make on for myself and my approach was to save an html file on my mem-stick and open it up through the console's browser my concerns are: 1. how does the psp browser handle css and javascript? 2. is there a doctype declaration specifically designed for the psp browser? 3. can i use any local database to store my texts for easier query or do i have no choice but rely on static text files? 4. is there anyone in SO who have experienced developing a page for this console and can he/she give me some tips and advice? thanks much in advance for your responses.. :)

• Can Connect to 3G Modem via GSMComm but cannot see any SMS

  Hi, I'm trying to write an application that receives SMS messages into the app I'm developing (in C# if you care :). Research indicates the best bet is to use GSMComm library. I've downloaded the library and using the demo app I have managed to connect to the 3g modem (a Huawei E1756) but when I query it for SMS's received it comes back with 0. Interestingly if I use the software that comes with the application then I can see the messages. Anyone got any clues on why this would be? Or other tips on how to retrieve the messages? Cheers, Kym

• Python editor/IDE for OS X

  As a (reasonably) new Python programmer, what IDEs or editors would you recommend for Python programming on OS X and why (i.e. what features/capabilities/workflow techniques really help)? I've used Xcode and played a bit with TextMate but I can't really say that either have really hit the spot for me (although TextMate's code completion is pretty neat, I think i've been spoilt with code-completion facilities provided by editors for statically-typed languages so maybe i'm subconsciously comparing apples and oranges) I'm looking to increase my efficacy with Python and any tips would be appreciated. I know people have asked similar questions for Python IDEs in general but I am specifically concentrating on OS X and the 'Mac way'. If Xcode or TextMate are thought highly of, perhaps some suggestions as to how I could get the most benefit from the tools would help.

• Return an object after parsing xml with SAX

  I have some large XML files to parse and have created an object class to contain my relevant data. Unfortunately, I am unsure how to return the object for later processing. Right now I pickle my data and moments later depickle the object for access. • DataGridView: can you add an unbound column to a Data Bound grid?

  I´m using Visual Studio 2008, C# DataGridView: can you add an unbound column to a Data Bound grid? It seems pretty simple, just select the properties ("DataGridView Tasks box") for the data bound DataGridView, and select Add unbound column. However, when in runtime there will be a System.FormatException - which I can understand, as I don´t know how to "initialize" the cells in the new unbound columns. I was planning initializing it programmatically via CellFormatting event - but so far I´m failing. Any tips? Just want to get it up and running in SOME way...

However I need a way in code to check the extension of the file, and display the correct Image and xsl:attribute depending on the If statement. So the If statement will be like this:- If correctedPath.ToLower.Contains(".doc") Then //display the word icon and attributes Else //display the excel icon and attributes End If Can you please give me some tips and help on how I can achieve this? • What is faster: multiple `send`s or using buffering?

  I'm playing around with sockets in C/Python and I wonder what is the most efficient way to send headers from a Python dictionary to the client socket. My ideas: use a send call for every header. Pros: No memory allocation needed. Cons: many send calls -- probably error prone; error management should be rather complicated use a buffer. Pros: one send call, error checking a lot easier. Cons: Need a buffer :-) malloc/realloc should be rather slow and using a (too) big buffer to avoid realloc calls wastes memory. Any tips for me? Thanks :-)

• Writing an Eval Procedure in Scheme?

  My problem isn't with the built-in eval procedure but how to create a simplistic version of it. Just for starters I would like to be able to take this in '(+ 1 2) and have it evaluate the expression + where the quote usually takes off the evaluation. I have been thinking about this and found a couple things that might be useful: Unquote: , (quasiquote) (apply) My main problem is regaining the value of + as a procedure and not a symbol. Once I get that I think I should just be able to use it with the other contents of the list. Any tips or guidance would be much appreciated.

• How do i get access to the <html> element in javascript?

  IE displays a default scrollbar on the page, which appears even if the content is too short to require a scrollbar. The typical way to remove this scrollbar (if not needed), is to add this to your css: HTML { height: 100%; overflow: auto; } I'm trying to do the same thing in javascript (without requiring that in my CSS), but i can't seem to find a way to get access to the html element. I know i can access the body element with document.body, but that doesn't seem to be sufficient, i need the wrapping html element. Any tips?

• Loading large amounts of data to an Oracle SQL Database

  Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with what I am about to embark on. I have several csv files which are all around a GB or so in size and I need to load them into a an oracle database. While most of my work after loading will be read-only I will need to load updates from time to time. Basically I just need a good tool for loading several rows of data at a time up to my db. Here is what I have found so far: I could use SQL Loader t do a lot of the work I could use Bulk-Insert commands Some sort of batch insert. Using prepared statement somehow might be a good idea. I guess I was wondering what everyone thinks is the fastest way to get this insert done. Any tips?

The selected descendants are text nodes. The text node content can only contain whitespace. • Prevent backspace button from navigating back in Sharepoint 2010 and IE

  as a user requirement I have to disable the backspace button from navigating back in the history. I cannot bind the input types as exceptions because the content editor in sharepoint allows to modify the text in div or paragraph elements etc. The solution is not working in IE8 because the event.target returns the element that is on mouseover when there's no controls that has the focus.   Hey everyone, I would appreciate a pointing in the right direction with the problem I'm having. In short, I'm working on an application that will create PDFs using TinyMCE and ColdFusion 8. I have the ability to create a PDF by just entering in text, pictures, etc. However, I want to be able to import an html template and insert it into the TinyMCE . Basically, I have a file directory code snippet that lets me browse through my 'HTMLTemplates' folder, and am able to select an HTML document. Now, I want to be able to take all the code from that selected HTML document and insert it into my TinyMCE box. Any tips on how I might do this, maybe? Thanks!

• loading Data in VBA from a text file

  I am not very familiar with VBA but need to use it for a new software program I am using (not Microsoft related) I have a text file that has columns of data I would like to read into VBA. Specifically the text file has 4 entries per row. Thus I would like to load in the column vectors (N by 1). The text file is separated by a space between each entry. So for example I want to load in column one and save it as array A, then column two and save as array B, then column three and save as array C, and then column four and save as array D. This code snippet found below from http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=482 is something I found that can load in text to an array, but I need to adapt it to be able to save the columns as different arrays as specified above... • Advice about testing an application before release?

  I would like to get some tips from peer developers about how you go about testing an application you developed, prior to release to QA. Keep in mind, this is a small scale application (requirements are verbal), and so doing formal testing processes wont work, especially, since your boss told you to develop this app quick, push it out the door. Despite the time restraints, I would like to make sure it is bug free, however, numerous times in the past, I have had the app sent back to me because clicking the "Reset" button, messes up the other controls alignment etc. I know there are people out there that develop small scale apps fast, and send them out with minimal bugs. How can I achieve that? I researched this post, but it didnt quite answer my question. Testing your code before releasing to QA

• Connecting two DialogBoxes in GWT

  In my GWT project, I'm trying to get it so two DialogBoxes can pass information between each other. One of them holds a MapWidget, and when a button is pressed in the other DialogBox, the position information is received from that other DialogBox's MapWidget. Does anyone have any tips for how I should coordinate between having two different DialogBoxes show up? Should I wrap the code for the two in a Composite? Furthermore, is there an example anywhere of dealing with two DialogBoxes at once in GWT? For example, if I click outside of the two boxes, both should be dismissed. I'm wondering if there's a way to keep both of them in focus at once, so I can switch between the two without causing either to disappear.

• How can i attach data to a JTA transaction? (or uniquely identify it)

  I have a getStockQuote() function that will get a current stock quote for a symbol from the stock market. My goal is that within a JTA transaction, the first call to getStockQuote() will fetch a stock quote, but all subsequent calls within the same transaction will reuse the same stock quote (e.g.: it will not try to fetch a new quote). If a different transaction starts, or another transaction runs concurrently, i would expect the other transaction to fetch its own stock quote on its first call. This would be similar to how you can configure JPA providers to only fetch a database row from the database once, and use the cached value for subsequent access to the same database row within the transaction. Does anyone have tips on how this can be achieved?
