• Drupal Customizing User Registration Form

  Hi All, I am newbie in Drupal 6. I am looking for customizing User registration form. Apparently found that while adding user using Admin login allows registration form to have fields like email address, username, password,confirm password, etc with validations. But when anonymous use wants to register, then only fields like email address and username are displayed. I tried with Profile module available. But now how could I add some fields (password, confirm password, terms & condition check and receive news letter check box)and behavior (password, confirm password validation etc.)? If I am adding such fields they are also get visible in AdminAdd user form resulting duplicate fields like Password,Confirm password. Could you please suggest me how can I do this? I tried googling but confused me a lot as I am beginner to Drupal.

• django internationalization and translations problem

  I have a problem with django translations. Problem 1 - i updated string in django.po file, but the change does not appear on the webpage. Problem 2 - i have created my own locale file with django-admin.py makemessages -l et, added the translation string into file, but they too do not appear on the page. I do not think this is setting problem, because the translations from django.po file do appear on the website, its just the changes and the translations from my own generated file that do not appear. Edit: My settings.py contains this: gettext = lambda s: s LANGUAGE_CODE = 'et' LANGUAGES = ( ('et', gettext('Estonian')), ) my own locale files are in /path/to/project/locale/et/LC_MESSAGES/ and the files are django.mo and django.po the file i refer to in problem 1 is django own et transaltion, which i changed.

• Regular expression to validate a Google Analytics UA Number

  It's not 100 percent clear to me that the Google Analytics UA Numbers are always 6 digits, a dash, and 2 digits as Google often mentions in their documentation. There are frequent counter-examples that use fewer than 6 for the account portion and 1-4 for the profile. All of the examples always show numbers but it's not even clear that they can't be letters. Does anyone know if Google has published a regex that exactly matches allowable UA Numbers? I'm adding this feature to the admin console of an application I work on and would like to validate the user input.

  Using Shiro we have a great security framework embedded in our enterprise application running on GF. You define users, roles, permissions and we can control at any fine-grain level if a user can access the application, a certain page or even click a specific button. Is there a recipe or pattern, that allows on top of that, to restrict a user from seeing certain data ? Sample: You have a customer table for 3 factories (part of one company). An admin user can see all customer records, but the user at the local factory must not see any customer data of other factories (for whatever reason). • How to get the page in a variable which is going to be displayed in Wordpress ?

  I want to get the content which are displayed by a particular page in WordPress back-end. Say, for [ROOT]/wp-admin/profile.php I want to remove the First Name and Last Name fields from this page. So, I can run a str_replace() to remove the lines. In this case, I have $search and $replace ... but I need $subject [Ref - http://php.net/manual/en/function.str-replace.php] How to get the $subject ? OR, anybody know any other way to do this?

• Gitosis Directories of repositories per user?

  I was just wondering, is there a way to set up gitosis so that a user would have their own directory to which they could push any number of repositories that they want, and essentially have admin privs on that directory? This might be kind of confusing, but essentially I want something like how on github all your repositories are accessible at urls like [email protected]:username/repofoo.git . I realize that setting up each repo is a somewhat manual process that could be automated via a script, like I assume github does, but is there any way to do something like this overall, minus the automated repository creation? I guess I'm open to trying to set up gitorious or something if it allows this, but gitosis works pretty well for me right now and it was dead easy to set up, and I've heard that gitorious is not so easy. Thanks! I've heard of other forks/clones of gitosis that have per branch permissions like gitolite, but I'm not sure whether I want to use one of those unless they have other compelling features and are as well documented and easy to use as gitosis.

• Run Windows XP on a usb drive virtually on Windows XP?

  I am sick of not being able to run and install certain applications on my work computer due to admin restrictions (eg: Adobe AIR) . I have heard of smaller versions of Windows running on a usb thumb drive and have looked into it but can't find anything on running windows virtually from a usb drive. I would like to be able to login to this particular computer, insert my usb drive and then open up another version of windows installed on the thumb drive while still being able to use the windows I logged in on (literally be able to alt+tab between the main desktop and the virtual desktop from the usb drive). Is this even possible? For further clarification: The version of windows has to be Windows XP and there is no other option available for what I want to do. Looking forward to a response.

• How can I interrupt a ServerSocket accept() method?

  Hi, In my main thread I have a while(listening) loop which calls accept() on my ServerSocket object, then starts a new client thread and adds it to a Collection when a new client is accepted. I also have an Admin thread which I want to use to issue commands, like 'exit', which will cause all the client threads to be shut down, shut itself down, and shut down the main thread, by turning listening to false. However, the accept() call in the while(listening) loop blocks, and there doesn't seem to be any way to interrupt it, so the while condition cannot be checked again and the program cannot exit! Is there a better way to do this? Or some way to interrupt the blocking method? Thanks!

• Writing temporary data from R

  I want to write some temporary data to disk in an R package, and I want to be sure that it can run on every OS without assuming the user has admin rights. Is there an existing R function that can provide a path to a temporary directory on all major OS's? Or a way to reference a user's home directory? Otherwise, I was thinking of trying this: Sys.getenv("temp") I presume that I can't expect people to have write access to their R locations, otherwise I could reference a path within the package directory: .find.package("package.name").

• Adding pdb files to VSS

  Every time I try to compile my web app, I am prompted if i want to add pdb extensioned files to VSS. I thought pdb files do not belong in VSS see a previous post. Is there any way to prevent them from being added. I cannot even logically delete them from VSS because a previous version has been logically deleted and if I were to delete the current version, the previous version would have to be purged, for which I need vss admin rights that I do not have. I just can't get a handle on how to avoid getting a million files added to VSS that prevent otehr develoeprs from compiling their solutions because they have unchecked out read only copies. Is the only solution to check them in but flip the readonly flag off locally? This is not a good option in my mind.

Doesn't have to look good. No blog-post. Strictly XML-Charts. I thought about using Wordpress, but I don't know if it's the best idea. I can code, but I don't have to much PHP + MySQL experience.   My university is holding a quiz contest in 2 weeks, and I need some sort of software (desktop or web based) that can be used to manage the quiz. I need functionality like an admin panel for adding teams, creating matches between 2 teams, adding questions and answers. I then need the software to automatically display the questions, accept answers, and display and store results. Is there any software (open source/freeware) that I can use for this task. If a pre-built software is not available, which language+library+platform would you suggest I make the software in. It can be either web based or a desktop app. But I need it by 2 weeks. • Databases design - one link table or multiple link tables?

  Hi there, I'm working on a front end for a database where each table essentially has a many to many relationship with all other tables. I'm not a DB admin, just a few basic DB courses. The typical solution in this case, as I understand it, would be multiple link tables to join each 'real' table. Here's what I'm proposing instead: one link table that has foreign key dependencies to all other PKs of the other tables. Is there any reason this could turn out badly in terms of scalability, flexibility, etc down the road?

  Hi! I am admin on a forum. Earlier we had phpbb 2.0 and i made a bot that could write to the forum. Now, we have upgraded the forum to phpbb 3.0, but i can't get my bot to write to the forum anymore. I have looked for a solution, but now i am out of ideas. So it would have been great if anyone have a suggestion. i have btw used CURL and php to make this bot. Usage of bot: Users log in on an external website to report results of footballmatches they have played online. The bot will then automatically write a post to the forum. So basically i need to know what $_POST[] i need to send.

• Is possible to auto-import a module from a diferent subfolder in other subfolder?

  I have a kind of plugin system, with this layout: - Python -- SDK -- Plugins ---- Plugin1 ---- Plugin2 All 3 have a __init__.py file. I wonder if is possible to be able to do import SDK from any plugin (as if SDK was in the site-packages folder). I'm in a situation where need to deploy, update, delete, add or change SDK files or any of the plugins under non-admin accounts, and wonder if I can get SDK in a clean way (I could sys.path.append in all plugins but I wonder if exist a better option). I imagine that using this in the Plugins init coulkd work: import sys import os ROOT_DIR = os.path.abspath(os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__),'..')) print ROOT_DIR sys.path.append( ROOT_DIR ) But clearly is not executed this code (I imagine init was auto-magicalled executed in the load of the module :( )

  Consider this model (simplified for this question): class SecretAgentName(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100) aliases = ManyToManyField('self') I have three names, "James Bond", "007" and "Jason Bourne". "James Bond" and "007" are aliases of each other. This works exactly like I want it to, except for the fact that every instance can also be an alias of itself. This I want to prevent. So, there can be many SecretAgentNames, all can be aliases of each other as long as "James Bond" does not show up as an alias for "James Bond". Can I prevent this in the model definition? If not, can I prevent it anywhere else, preferably so that the Django Admin understands it?

• Trouble with loading jquery onload.

  Hi guys, I'm trying to build some jquery tabs based on the request (which is stored in a table). I have two pages sharing one .js file. One page is for the user to create the request, and the other is for the administrator to approve/deny the request. On the admin page, here is my javascript code: $(function() { GetRequest(); }); Which is just calling a function I have inside my .js file. All the code in the .js file is also wrapped in a '$(function(){ //...code here })'. The problem is the function isn't built yet when calling it from the page. Is there a way I can tell the page to wait until the script is complete?

• SharePoint thinks new Server is offline?

  I added an index server to the topology, and tried to switch it from the front end to the index server but for some reason I get an exception every time in Central Admin saying the server is offline. I checked everything... IIS is running and is serving out correctly The App Pool Identity is valid I restarted IIS I restarted the Indexing server I had a wierd problem when installing SP2 for SharePoint, (WSS sp2 installed fine) where it got stuck and "Upgrading SharePoint Products and Technologies" and I had to run the following command to get it to continue: psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force After that it said it succeeded with no errors... The only thing I haven't done is reboot the Primary server cause I have to do it in off hours, but I want to make sure I have covered all my other bases first...Any ideas?

  Hi all, I am currently working on a multi branch desktop based project using VB.NET 2008. My Admin want to see the list of currently working branches and not working branches. Additionally they want to know how long a branch is not working. To display the offline branches I first take a ListBox control named lstListBranch and then upon that control I take another ListBox control named lstListTime to display the offline time. I want to permanently hide the scrollbar for lstListTime control and want to scroll lstListTime when lstListBranch is scrolled. Can anyone help me in that purpose? Thanks in advance.

• How to make WordPress "Add/Edit Post" form more Tumblr like?

  Hi, WordPress requires you give each blog post at least two fields: a title and text body content. I'm wondering how to modify WordPress admin so I can sometimes enter a single field for a blog post, in particular a URL, without WordPress requiring a title (related but not the point of this question: a custom theme would then know how to handle a post that only contained a URL, it would treat it like a "Link" post in Tumblr). Ideally it'd be good if the "add/edit post" form could be modified so it only contains this single URL/Link field when this is wanted. I'm guessing this is possible through a plugin but I'm not certain. I'm hoping some smart WordPress devs are here to share and brainstorm ideas for how this could be done. • Why does my Windows Form app timeout when repeatedly hitting IIS 7 externally?

  hey guys, I've got a very simple Windows Form app that hits an IIS 7 site about 2000 times in the space of a few seconds (using threads). When I run that app on the server itself, using either localhost or the ip address, everything is totally fine. However, when I run the app on my dev box, using the ip address, I get an error from the "GetResponse" method: The operation has timed out The App can definitely connect to the site, because it consistently either starts throwing the timeout error after 10 or so hits (no more than 11), or it throws the timeout error immediately. What's going on? It's hitting IIS 7 on a Windows Server 2008 VM (external box), Windows Firewall is OFF. My App is running locally on my dev box as the admin. cheers

  I need to resize and crop to exactly 60x80px from various size and aspect ratio. Just before i put into Datastore. Anyone already got this issue resolved. Currently i already succed to just transform it to exact height (80px) with various width which nott look so good when i try to display it on a list. e.g jcaroussel. I am writing my first app in ASP.NET MVC Framework and i have a problem with checking privileges to use instances of model classes (read, edit). Sample code looks like this: // Controller action [CustomAuthorize(Roles="Editor, Admin")] public ActionResult Stats(int id) { User user = userRepository.GetUser(id); if (user == null || !user.Activated || user.Removed) return View("NotFound"); else if (!user.IsCurrentSessionUserOwned) return View("NotAuthorized"); return View(user); } So far authorize attribute protects only controller actions, so my question is: how to make (custom) authorize attribute to check not only user role, usernames but also did i.e. resources instantiated in action methods (above: User class, but there are other ORM objects like News, Photos etc.) All of these object to check have their unique ID's, so user have own ID, News have their ID and UserID field referecned to Users table (i mean these objects are LINQ2SQL classes). How should i resolve that problem?

• MOSS 2007 central administration - cannot connect to the configuration database

  I am unable to access Sharepoint Central Administration. I installed MOSS 2007 successfully on Windows Server 2008 (IIS7 and SQL Server 2005), I launched the admin and got "Cannot connect to the configuration database" error. Application pool is using NetworkService account which has access to SQL Server. I can access the configuration databases through SQL Management Studio. SQL server is on the same machine. Any help, suggestions on how to solve the problem? I am very new to SharePoint.
