  I'm learning to use Google App Engine, I installed it in Netbeans, the project works, but when I clicked on "Deploy To Google App Engine", I got the following error : Beginning server interaction for ... 0% Creating staging directory 5% Scanning for jsp files. 8% Compiling jsp files. 11% Compiling java files. • Proper way of naming your Java Google App Engine Project

  I am starting out with Google's App Engine in Java. I have seen the tutorial video but I do not understand the naming of the project package. It is going to be a guestbook, that's why the name is guestbook, I understand that part. But after that I see package name. 1)Is that something you import into the project, or is is something you create. I have seen this a lot in projects, something like com.xxx.xxx. 2)How do you name this type of thing or is this an import. I have looked at another tutorial there they take the naming to a whole new level. The name of both the project and the package is de.vogella.gae.java.todo. 3)What does this mean in java terms. 4)Maybe one of you can help me with this specific project I want to start. I want to create a Google App project that for now only serves static files. I will leave the project empty and just put all my static files in the war directory of the project. • Problem uploading app to google app engine

  I'm having problems uploading an app to the google-app-engine from my work place. I believe the problem is related to proxy, because I do not see the same problem when following the same procedure from home. (I do not specify HTTP_PROXY from home). These are the commands I run: HTTP_PROXY=http://proxy.<thehostname>.com:8080 HTTP_PROXY=https://proxy.<thehostname>.com:8080 appcfg.py --insecure update myappfolder When running the commands I get prompted for email and password, as expected, but after that it immediately exits with this errormessage: Error 302: --- begin server output --- <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Moved Temporarily</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000"> <H1>Moved Temporarily</H1> The document has moved <A HREF="https://www.google.com/accounts/ClientLogin">here</A>. </BODY> </HTML> --- end server output --- Note: I added the --insecure option because else it gave a warning of missing ssl module. • Google AppEngine + Local JUnit Tests + Jersey framework + Embedded Jetty

  I use Google Appengine for Java (GAE/J). On top, I use the Jersey REST-framework. Now i want to run local JUnit tests. The test sets up the local GAE development environment ( http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/tools/localunittesting.html ), launches an embedded Jetty server, and then fires requests to the server via HTTP and checks responses. Unfortunately, the Jersey/Jetty combo spawns new threads. GAE expects only one thread to run. In the end, I end up having either no datstore inside the Jersey-resources or multiple, having different datastore. As a workaround I initialise the GAE local env only once, put it in a static variable and inside the GAE resource I add many checks (This threads has no dev env? Re-use the static one). And these checks should of course only run inside JUnit tests.. (which I asked before: "How can I find out if code is running inside a JUnit test or not?" - I'm not allowed to post the link directly here :-|)

  I would like an easy-to-setup site to handle videos to be viewed internally by my company. YouTube is essentially the perfect solution except for its being public. I'm looking for a place where a few people can upload videos, and the system will return a page where they can watch that video in a browser. I figure this would involve a dedicated Web server to run the Web application and process the videos. I've searched and I don't think such a system exists, but I perhaps there's one out there in its infancy that doesn't rank high on Google yet. Essentially the site I'm looking for is what MediaWiki is to Wikis, or what StackExchange is to Q&A sites, but for videos. Thanks in advance!

• Loading city/state from SQL Server to Google Maps?

  I'm trying to make a small application that takes a city & state and geocodes that address to a lat/long location. Right now I am utilizing Google Map's API, ColdFusion, and SQL Server. Basically the city and state fields are in a database table and I want to take those locations and get marker put on a Google Map showing where they are. • Re-encoding a video file and increasing the size -- does this improve the quality?

  If I have a video file at 320x240 resolution which I want to re-encode (because I don't like the encoding it's in now) and I also want to play it at double size (640x480), will I get higher quality if I scale it up to 640x480 when I convert it to a new format, verses keeping it at 320x240 in the new format and playing it at double size? This probably depends on the program used to convert, and if so, please let me know any program which might increase the quality. Here's my thinking. If I play a 320x240 file at double size, the system has to scale up each frame in real time, whereas if I scale up while recompressing the system may be able to use a more intensive algorythm like Bicubic interpolation . However I am not sure if this is true or not.

  My Silvrlight 4 application hosted in ASP.NET MVC 2 working fine when used through Internet Explorer 8, both in development server and remote web server (IIS 6.0). However when I try to browse through Google Chrome (version 5.0.375.70) it throws "remote server returned not found" error. • Implementing Unowned relationship Google App Engine

  My question is more of a best practices question on how to implement unowned relationships with Google App Engine. I am using JDO to do my persistence and like recommended in the google docs I'm persisting my list of unowned relationships like so: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class User implements Serializable, UserDetails { ... @Persistent private List<Key> groups; ... } Now I came across my predicament when I went to query that list of objects using they Key object. So when I get my list of group keys in order to actually return a list of Group objects I have to do a look up on that key to get the object. My question is what is the recommended way of doing a unowned look up on a model object? Should I have an instance of the PersistanceManagerFactory on my Model object so I can do a lookup? Should I have an instance of my GroupDAO object on my Model object so I can do a look up? Should I have a Utility to do this type of lookup? I'm new to this so I just want to know which is the best way to do this. Thanks.

  Copy list of file names to text file? I am linking the above page because of its relevance to my question. Is there anything similar that can be done to output a 'plain' looking text file (or xml or csv file) with basically the same data that the following cmd prompt produces: dir > c:\list.txt However only difference I need is the runtime of any and all video files included in the outputted file. I tried using functions to call another page like request dispatcher(), redirect() calling myhtml.js page directly after myservlet process the query results. But i get the result like this google.visualization.Query.setResponse......... /Tiger'},{v:80.0}, {v:false}]}]}}); and the entire myhtml.js code page below it on the browsers that to without the chart been draw.   Atm I am running a video sharing website and I am converting alot of videos. the queue is getting a bit too long (400 videos). I am planning on purchasing a new server and I was wondering if there anyway I can estimate the fps while converting 10 videos at the same time? Regards EXTRA INFO I am using MP4Box (which uses ffmpeg) to handle the encoding etc. Its encoding at 23 CRF, audio bitrate of 96 and audio sampling rate of 44100. The server will have the following processor : Dual Opteron 6272 (2 x 16 cores, 32 cores total) + 128GB RAM.

• What if any free video player for windows can I set a custom frame buffer for streaming over the wifi?

  I currently use DAUM PLayer (Pot Player) but I have problems streaming video to my laptop unless it is plugged into the network. An easy fix (so I thought) would be to find a player were I could adjust the cache / buffer so say 5 mins+ is read to the local Hdrive and then played from there... I can not work out how to do this in any player I have VLC, MPCHC and DAUM installed. All I want to do is increase the file buffer so X amount of the networkfile is copied to the local drive and then played... so all stuttering is stopped? How do I do this?

• Google Anlytics event not firing

  I am not getting and event data in GA. I installed Google Analytics Debugger Chrome extension and I see nothing happening (same goes when looking at Network panel in developer tools). I Googled it and read many (many) other answers and it looks like I'm doing things right. Page views, etc. are registering correctly...   Hello All, I have a big problem with Google Chrome and its memory. My app is displaying to user several image charts and reloads them every 10s. In the interval i have code like that var image = new Image(); var src = 'myurl/image'+new Date().getTime(); image.onload = function() { document.getElementById('myimage').src = src; image.onload = image.onabort = image.onerror = null; } image.src = src; So i have no memory leaks in Firefox and IE. Here the response headers for images Server Apache-Coyote/1.1 Vary * Cache-Control no-store (// I try no-cache, must-revalidate and so on here) Content-Type image/png Content-Length 11131 Date Mon, 31 May 2010 14:00:28 GMT Vary * taken from here In about:cache page there is no my cached images. If i enable purge-memory-button for chrome (--purge-memory-button parameter) it`s not help. Images is in PNG24. So i think that the problem is not in cache. May be Google Chrome is not releasing memory for old images. Please help. Any suggestions. Thanks.

• Retro Video Game Collection

  Recently I've decided, in true nerd fashion, to collect either comic books or video games.  Considering I'm much more versed in the technological arts and not in ACTUAL art, I thought collecting old video games would be an interesting venture.  After all, I am a self-described compulsive shopper (my bank statement at the end of the month has a purchase every few days).  (Don't worry, I'm not in debt and still pay my bills on time!) I went to a local video game store in Stevens Point called Gaming Generations which is a neat little shop with loads of old games for great prices.  For example, any NES cartridge on the shelf (not behind glass) is, at most, $4.99 with the cheaper ones around $1.99.  During my first round at GG, I picked up the following: NES: - Fester's Quest - Adventures of Link (Zelda 2, grey cart) - Little Nemo - Total Recall - The Goonies 2 PSX: - Galerians N64: - Mission: Impossible - Hybrid Heaven I was a little cautious, would I even like collecting old games?  As soon as I popped a few of those games in I knew right away the answer was an astounding YES!  Not only is it fun to bring back memories of all these old games, but searching for them in stores is also a blast and saying 'I have that one, I need the second one.' After finding such joy in buying these games, I decided to go search through 4-5 stores in Wausau for old games as well.  While the prices were a bit higher and selection smaller, the search was still fun.  I found the following: NES: - Maniac Mansion - T&C Surf - Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers - TMNT (the first one) - Mission: Impossible N64: - Turok - Turok 2 Genesis: - Sonic the Hedgehog Dreamcast: - Shenmue And I found a Gamegear for $5!  Now I just need to find games for it... Tonight I will go on one more small expedition into the used, once again stopping at GG and another second hand store to see if I can find any items for my collection.

Lets an assume an organization wants to upload training/product demo videos to YouTube and embed them on their corporate website.  Would not it be nice if they can hide the YouTube logo from the embedded videos? Definitely Yes. To remove the YouTube logo you need to do a small change to the embed script before using it on your site. Add the flag modestbranding=1 as shown in the script below Here is a YouTube video embedded in this post without the logo. The catch is when logo is hidden the player shows text YouTube as a text overlay at top right corner when you hover the mouse. Hope Google will let us hide even that in the near future. Last weekend I was searching for almost 2 hours and could not find a single shop. The best way to enjoy this delicious Samosas in Chennai is to prepare them at home and thanks to this Vah Reh Vah for posting this video on YouTube with detailed instructions on preparation of Ulli Samosa. We will be trying out this recipe today evening. Update: We followed the instructions in the video and could not prepare the Somasa we were expecting. In this preparation method, stuff inside Samosa was raw and I did not like the taste . By the way, it’s just me who did not like it. • Downloading specific video renditions in WebCenter Content

  I recently had a question come up on one of my previous blog articles about downloading a specific video rendition.  When accessing image renditions, you simply need to pass in the 'Rendition=<rendition name>' parameter on the GET_FILE service and it will be returned.  But when you try that with videos, you get the error message, "Unable to download '<Content ID>'. The rendition or attachment '<Rendition Name>' could not be found in the list manifest of the revision with internal revision ID '<dID>'. Through the interface, it exposes the ability to download, but utilizes the Content Basket to bundle one or more videos and download them as a zip.   I had never tried this with videos, but thought they had worked the same way.  Well, it turns out you need to pass in an extra parameter in the case of videos.  So if you pass in parameter of 'AuxRenditionType=media', that will allow the GET_FILE service to download the video (e.g. http://server/cs/idcplg?IdcService=GET_FILE&dID=11012&dDocName=WCCBASE9010812&allowInterrupt=1 &Rendition=QuickTime&AuxRenditionType=media).  And if you haven't seen the David After Dentist video, I'd highly recommend it!
