  If I load up a set of paragraphs then the editor replaces my <p> with <p>&#x9; It means <p>paragraph 1</p> <p>paragraph 2</p> <p>paragraph 3</p> ends up like <p> paragraph 1</p> <p> paragraph 2</p> <p> paragraph 3</p> Has anyone come across this and know how to fix? It seems to be an issue but no response on their forum My humble guess from looking at their source is that this was introduced to remove a different bug. I've looked at the obvious configuration settings and the like.

• Intern working for Indian NGO - Help with PHP 4, advising staff

  Hello, For the past three months I've been working for an Indian NGO (http://sevamandir.org), doing some volunteer work in the field but also trying to improve their website, which needs a ton of work. Recently I've been trying to fix the "subscribe to newsletter" button, which is broken. I used filter_var to filter the email input, but when I tried to test this out I got an error. Then I learned that the web host is still using php version 4.3.2 and register_globals is turned on. I've mentioned that they should upgrade their web host before (they are paying around $50 per year for Rediff Web Hosting, complete with 100MB storage and 1 MySQL database). That would add a lot of complexity for the IT staff of 3, who would have to update everyone's email information (I assume? this is a 250-person organization), and have me find a new web host and teach them about it. The staff isn't that sophisticated about web usage - the head guy still uses IE6, and the website's laid out in tables (they use Dreamweaver WYSIWYG to lay out pages). So I've got two options - use regular expressions to filter the email, which I'm not that skilled at doing (and would be more vulnerable to exploitation after I leave), turn off register globals and then try to teach the staff what I'm doing, or try to get them to upgrade their versions of PHP and MySQL and/or change web host.   I'm starting up a new rails app with the latest version of rails (3.1.3). When I try to invoke the rails generator things get a little rough. Is this expected, or is this a compiler bug?

• ie8 playing funny with list-style-position: inside

  Ok, So problem here... when using list-style-position:inside in IE8 the first like is indented but every line after that is not. So the new lines appear under the bullet. This is fine, but when I use a list with that css applied with an a tag within the li then the text automatically gets pushed to the second line, and the first line is empty. When I remove the a tag from the li then it jumps back up. Any idea on why this might be or is this a bug in the ie8 world or do I just need to double check my css? Any insights would be much appreciated.

• Jquery click() not behaving like user click

  I have searched for a solution to this for the last several hours but to no avail. When I click on a button that has a return false in OnClientClick, no postback occurs to the server. When I use jquery to trigger the click function of the button, OnClientClick fires first, but regardless of the return value, a postback occurs. Here's a simple sample... So, in this example, when Button1 is clicked normally, no postback occurs. When Button2 is clicked, a postback always occurs. Is this a bug or intended behavior?

  I have been seeing the following error message a lot whenever I build something using the simulator: dyld: Symbol not found: _objc_collect_if_needed Referenced from: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation Expected in: /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib in /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation I am running XCode 3.2.2 on OS X 10.6.3, and have reinstalled the SDK twice with no avail. This error makes running any code on the simulator something of a Russian Roulette, but with 5 out of 6 chambers loaded. I have checked the files mentioned in the error message, and they all checkout as being present. This sometimes go away if I restart XCode. Other times I have to logout, or even restart. And sometimes nothing works. I have googled this, even tried apple's developer forums. Other than a reference to this in the MonoTouch list, this bug appears to be completely unknown otherwise. Anything help would be greatly appreciated - this is a real PITA. Cheers, Steve

I'm facing a problem: I created the web service via the web service wizard and the service shows up in the axis service list. If I porint to the wsdl - its generated. Now when I'm trying to build the client, I choose the wsdl, the client project and take the next button, well at the client web service configuration everything is empty. • Why can't the JVM just make autoboxing "just work"?

  Autoboxing is rather scary. While I fully understand the difference between == and .equals I can't but help have the follow bug the hell out of me: final List<Integer> foo = Arrays.asList(1, 1000); final List<Integer> bar = Arrays.asList(1, 1000); System.out.println(foo.get(0) == bar.get(0)); System.out.println(foo.get(1) == bar.get(1)); That prints true false Why did they do it this way? It something to do with cached Integers, but if that is the case why don't they just cache all Integers used by the program? Or why doesn't the JVM always auto unbox to primitive? Printing false false or true true would have been way better.

• Problem with DWR and Android-Browser

  Hello everyone, I am experiencing a problem with accessing an application from the Android-browser. The application uses DWR to persist connections to the clients that are connected with it. Everything works fine for me, except that if the application does not send any data to the client on the Android-phone for 2 minutes, the connection seems to be lost and no data arrive at the client. The same scenario works just fine on Firefox, Opera and Chrome. If the pause between two data transfers is less than 2 minutes, it works just fine. So, now my question: Is there some timeout setting for the android browser that I am missing? Or is this some built-in bug/feature/whatever that I cannot circumvent? I know that I could prevent this from happening with some sort of heartbeat, I would just like to why this is happening. • MySQL: Can the table comment length be increased?

I don't know why there is this limitation as the comments are very useful. Imagine if there was a limit of 60 characters for your programs. I wrote about this on my site and have some snapshots to the phpMyAdmin and Dbforge MySQL IDEs: http://mysql.tutorialref.com/mysql-table-comment-length-limit.html Is there a way to change this in phpMyAdmin or perhaps even on the CLI? • Staging database good practices

  Hi, I'm about to deploy to production a fairly complex site and for the first time need a staging environment where I can test things in a more realistic environment, especially with regard to some external services that cannot be run locally. My general plan is to develop & test first locally, push simple changes (small bug fixes, HTML/CSS, JS, etc) direct to production, and for larger changes, push first to staging subdomain for thorough testing and then to production. I don't think that I need to keep the staging and production databases in sync (occasional manual updating would do) but I'm wondering if there are any general good practices with regard to maintaing a staging environment in relation to a production environment, especially when it comes to databases. Any general thoughts/advice/experience would be appreciated.

Is this a compiler bug? EDIT: Apparently, this is also a const rvalue :)

  I'm forced to use Visual Source Safe 2005 at work. I'd like to combine that with a DVCS, so that I can check in files locally without disrupting my co-workers if there's a bug or it doesn't compile. In my attempts with Mercurial, it works, but causes a few weird issues. Namely, it thinks someone else has checked out the files I have checked out. Here's my thoughts on how I should manage it: Disable auto-checkout. Work locally in Mercurial When I'm ready to push my changes... Clone my Mercurial repository. Update my Visual Source Safe repository Pull and merge the two repositories using Mercurial. Check everything into Visual Source Safe. Does this sound reasonable? I'm always hearing bad things about VSS, is this just asking for me to see those problems firsthand?

• "The specified table does not exist" - for the administrator it does! Vista only issue

  Hello, I've got a weird bug occurring in a compact database on a Vista deployment machine. Basically the sdf file seem to be schizophrenic. The client application get the entitled error when running as a user but not when I use run as administrator. I don't see this problem on my XP development machine. I installed management studio onto the deployment machine and opened two versions of the application, one as user and one as administrator. When I query: SELECT TABLE_NAME FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES I see 21 tables on the one and 26 on the other, and the administrator is seeing less tables. It turns out that the user version, with 26 rows, is a previous incarnation of this database. Any ideas on why this is happening?

• UISlider returns two Touch Up Inside events, why does that happen?

  I have a slider that I'm using to set a float value somewhere. I connect Value Changed to a method in my viewController. That part works fine. I need to know when the user starts touching the control but not necessarily every single instant that the slider changes (I receive the Value Changed events for that). So I connected a Touch Up Inside event to another method in the viewController. The problem it, that method gets called twice when the user touches the UISlider control. WTF? It doesn't work that way with UIButtons or other touch events like Touch Down. I can work around it, I think, but it seems like a bug in the way the slider control handles touches. Does anybody know why it happens? BTW: the double touch event happens even when Touch Up Inside is the only connected event.

  I tracked down a memory leak with instruments. I always end up with the information that the responsible library is Foundation. In -dealloc I -release it. Now that looks like a framework bug? I checked with iPhone OS 3.0 and 3.1, both have that problem every time I use NSTimer like this. Any idea what else could be the problem? (my memory leak scan interval was 0.1 seconds. but same thing with 5 seconds)

• Visual Studio 2012 not building dependent projects

  I just upgraded a VS2010 project to VS2012 and am now having a problem where dependent projects are not building on demand. For instance, say I have the following projects in my solution: Library A ConsoleApp 1 Where ConsoleApp 1 references Library A. If I change the signature of a method in a class in Library A and run ConsoleApp 1, there will be a compiler error due to ConsoleApp 1 not seeing my changes because running ConsoleApp 1 did NOT cause Library A to build. If I manually build Library A, then manually build ConsoleApp 1, it works fine. However, I would expect that running ConsoleApp 1 should cause any dependent projects to be rebuilt before launching. Could I have something configured incorrectly? Or is this a bug in VS2012?
