    Hello all I'm trying to search for '[EN]' in the string 'Nationality [EN] [ESP]', I want to remove this from the string so I'm using a replace method, code examaple below var str = 'Nationality [EN] [ESP]'; var find = "[EN]"; var regex = new RegExp(find, "g"); alert(str.replace(regex, '')); Since [EN] is identified as a character set this will output the string 'Nationality [] [ESP]' but I want to remove the square brackets aswell. I thought that I could escape them using \ but it didn't work Any advice would be much appreciated

    I have an array of objects that looks like this: [{ name: 'test', size: 0, type: 'directory', path: '/storage/test' }, { name: 'asdf', size: 170, type: 'directory', path: '/storage/test/asdf' }, { name: '2.txt', size: 0, type: 'file', path: '/storage/test/asdf/2.txt' }] There could be any number of arbitrary path's, this is the result of iterating through files and folders within a directory. What I'm trying to do is determine the 'root' node of these. Ultimately, this will be stored in mongodb and use materialized path to determine it's relationships. In this example, /storage/test is a root with no parent. /storage/test/asdf has the parent of /storage/test which is the parent to /storage/test/asdf/2.txt. My question is, how would you go about iterating through this array, to determine the parent's and associated children? Any help in the right direction would be great! Thank you

    I have an array: letterFrequency = [["a", 12], ["b", 25], ["c", 34], ["d", 1], ["e", 35], ["f", 8], ["g", 7], ["h", 67], ["i", 35], ["j", 0], ["k", 53], ["l", 0], ["m", 0], ["n", 3], ["o", 0], ["p", 0], ["q", 3], ["r", 153], ["s", 0], ["t", 0], ["u", 15], ["v", 0], ["w", 0], ["x", 3], ["y", 0], ["z", 0]] and I want to sort it in descending order based on the number within the nested array i.e. letterFrequency[i][1]. So I want the most popular letter to be first. How would I do this?

The wrapper allows you to get the object, and save changes, without specifically stating what the changes are Does there exist a design pattern for this kind of encapsulation Deep cloning is not an option since I'm trying to write a wrapper like this to avoid doing just that. The solution of serialization should only be considered if there are no other solutions. [Edit] To clarify this is actaully done on node.js on the server. The only thing that changes is that the solution can be specific to the V8 implementation.

    I'm developing a website using the Seam framework and the RichFaces AJAX library (these isn't really all that important to the problem at hand - just some background). I seem to have uncovered a bug, however, in RichFaces which, in certain instances, will cause AJAX-based updating to fail in IE8 (see here for more info: http://community.jboss.org/message/585737).     I have a drop down menu that I want to have selected on page load. This is what I'm using at the moment: var selector = document.getElementById("action_person").firstChild; var n = 0; while(selector.options[n] != null) { if(selector.options[n].value == "person") { selector.options.selectedIndex = n; } n++; } I've also tried replacing selector.options.selectedIndex = n with selector.options[n].selected = true. However, it never selects for me. It always shows the item at the top of the drop down. I've verified that the value "person" does exist in the drop down, and that the variable "selector" does point to a valid drop down. What am I doing wrong here?

  • jQuery/Javascript problem with IE

    I have two radio buttons each with a unique ID. When one is clicked, I would like to add $10 to a total. When the other is clicked, we go back to the original total price. My jquery looks like this: function check_ceu() { var price = <%= conference_price %>; if($('#ceu_yes').is(':checked')){ $('#total').val(parseFloat(price) + 10) } else{ $('#total').val(price) } } I have this function bound to document.ready (for page refreshes) and also the onchange handler of the radio buttons. In FF and Chrome this works fine. In IE, when the radio button with ID of "ceu_yes" is checked nothing happens, then when clicking back to the other radio button, 10 is added. So in essence, IE has the checkbox functionality reversed. Below is my code for the buttons: <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_yes" value="1" onchange="check_ceu()" /> $10 <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_no" value="0" checked="checked" onchange="check_ceu()" /> No, thank you Any ideas on this?
