  • Android ViewFlipper is out of control

    I have an app that uses a ViewFlipper to display some text and images. I have the flipper's flipinterval set to 10 seconds, but also want to allow the user to click a button that will advance the flipper. The code blow works great on 2.2, the view is changed every 10 seconds and if I click flip_button the view is changed and the auto flip steps back in 10 seconds later. The 1.5 and 1.6 versions will remember the manual advance and it will happen every time in the rotation.   • Change the playback rate of a track in real time on Android

    Hello, I would like to know if somebody knows a library to changing the playback rate of a track in real time. My idea is to load a track and change its playback rate to half or double. Firstly, I tried with MusicPlayer but is was not possible at all and then I tried with SoundPool. The problem is that with SoundPool I can´t change the rate once the track is loaded.     Hello, I need to create a map with items on it (the map consists of a drawable object, which represents a room) and I thought about using buttons with background images for the items so that they are clickable. I guess the AbsoluteLayout fits here the best, but unfortunately it's deprecated. What layout would you recommend me for this kind of application ? Is there another layout which supports X/Y coordinates ?

  • Weird Overlay draw behaviour when zooming in the MapView [android]

    I've extended Overlay and implemented draw() in order to draw some stuff onto the map. When zooming is done through mapController.zoomIn() (called when doubleTapping the map), the overlay is drawn properly onto the map. BUT whenever I zoom in/out with the built in zoom controller, the overlay is not drawn properly and panning the map is needed to get the overlay refreshed.

  • Custom event listener on Android app

    Hi everybody, I need to set up a simple event listener to refresh a listview from once in a while. The problem is I don't know how could I generate an event. I know that for events like key or button pressing I just need to implement the handler. But in this specific case I actually need to generate the event, which will be fired everytime another running thread of my app wakes up and refreshes it's list of news from a rss feed. I've done everything, but got stucked in here. Can I get any suggestion or link with some more info on how to implement this? Thanks Nelson R. Perez

Normally, durring a phone call when the user holds the device up to their ear, the screen shuts off so they wont accidentally push buttons with their face. I would like to make my app do the same thing when the user is listening to their voice mail. anyone know how to do this?

When you scroll up and down the list maybe you end up filling all of them. When I tried the commented out line (holder.avatar.setImageBitmap...) the app sometimes force closes with "only the thread that created the view can request...". But only sometimes. Any idea how I can fix this? Either option.

  • avoid preselection of a view when focus is gained android

    Hi all, I don't know if the title is very clear, but my issue is as follows : I have an activity with a listview, and on top of this listview, i have a searchfield (edittext). The issue is that when i try debugging on a phone, the virtual keyboard gets out straight after the screen displays the activity... And of course, it's hidding half of the list... So, is there an attribute or something I can use to prevent this from happening?(I still want to keybord to appear when i click the edittext though...) thank you

    I have created an App Widget for Android 1.5. It uses a TextView to present a number of individual Text Links using ClickableSpans. However, the onClick event handler on the ClickableSpan is never called, it appears that you can not select individual components on the widget just the whole widget. This approach works fine for a normal app, so what I do I need to change to make this work for a widget?

But they return 0. I guess that is because the layout isn't rendered yet. Does anyone have a clue, how can I control the size of the popup window without needing to use absolute pixel numbers?

  • Android Template Application?

    I have built an application that I want to use as the foundation for a few other variants. The variants will come from assets / resource files and a unique AndroidManifest.xml. However, I want to be able to leave all the application code alone (modifying the package of all my classes, etc). I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do so. My first thought was to simply have my main application in its own package, and then specify the specific application package in the manifest. However, this gives me issues with the generated R.java class, since it is generated to be in the main application's package. Anyone have any thoughts on how to accomplish this? To have a code baseline, and the application variants happen in resources/assets and the manifest?
