  I've been getting quite a few emails asking how Oracle supports XBRL. As of June 2011, all public US companies were required to produce XBRL-based financial statements to the SEC. The latest XBRL 2.1 specifications are supported by Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management, which supports the XBRL tagging of financial statements as well as the disclosures and footnotes within your 10K and 10Q filings. Because many of our customers use Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) for their consolidation needs, they simply generate XBRL statements from their consolidated financial results. Click here to watch a 3 min demo about this cool tool. Question: What if you don't use Hyperion Financial Management, and you only use E-Business Suite General Ledger or PeopleSoft General Ledger? Answer: No problem, all you need is Hyperion Disclosure Management to generate XBRL from your general ledger. Here are the steps: Upload the XBRL taxonomy from the SEC or XBRL website into Hyperion Disclosure Management. Publish your financial statements out of general ledger to Excel. • Need theoretical help, how to comprehend an if-else dependency net

  I am going to face a following issue: I'm writing a program that manages some properties, some of them are general and some are specific. Each property is a pair of key and value, and for example: if it is given a general property and other specific property with exactly the same key and value has been existed before then the general property will swap the specific one in the register. If there are two the same general properties - both will remain in the register. And so on; it is like a net of dependencies. In my case I can handle with it intuitively and foresee all cases, but only because the system is not too vast. What if it would? I have met such problems a few times in many different programs and languages (i.e working with C semaphores) and my question is: How to approach this kind of problem? Is this connected with finite state machine, graph theory or something similar? How to be sure that I have considered the whole system and each possible case? Could you recommend some resources (books, sites) to learn from?

• Thoughts on Technical Opinions

  Nearly every day, people send email from the C# Station contact form with feedback on the tutorial.  The overwhelming majority is positive and “Thank You” notes.  Some feedback identifies problems such as typos, grammatical errors, or a constructive explanation of an item that was confusing.  It’s pretty rare, but I even get emails that are not very nice at all – no big deal because it comes with the territory and is sometimes humorous.  Sometimes I get questions related to the content that is more of a general nature, referring to best practices or approaches. It’s these more general questions that are sometimes interesting because there’s often no right or wrong answer. There was a time when I was more opinionated about these general scenarios, but not so much anymore. Sure, people who are learning are wanting to know the “right” way to do something and general guidance is good to help them get started.  However, just because a certain practice is the way you or your clique does things, doesn’t mean that another approach is wrong.  These days, I think that a more open-minded approach when providing technical guidance is more constructive. • Server 2008 Likes to restart itself

  I have a weird issue here. I notice about once a week the web server restarts itself. This would be only a minor issue if we were not planning on implementing an IP failover. I have checked the event logs. I don't see anything that indicates a reason for the restart. I need some help diagnosing the reason the server restarts. It happened last night at 5:00AM Last even in the log was 1 hour before the unexpected shutdown. Here is the Log for the shutdown event. Any help is much appreciated. I know there isn't much to go on yet.   I am new to silverlight and windows phone 7 development and am having some trouble working out the best way to do a "grouped list". Essentially what I would like to do is group a list of event details by date into something like this: Monday 5/6/10 event 1 event 2 Tuesday 6/6/10 event 3 I tried using nested listboxes which work to certain extent but killed the scrolling. Is that the best way to do grouping (assuming I can fix the scrolling issue) or is there some other method?

  Hello, I'm currently using ... - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { to detect swipes. I've got everything working. The only problem is if the user touches on top of something (eg a UIButton or something) the - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { is not called. Is there something like touchesBegan but will work if I touch ANYWHERE on the view? Thanks in advance, David

• ASP.NET Web Service Throws 401 (unauthorized) Error

  Hi Experts, I have this .NET application to be run in an intranet environment. It is configured so that it requires Windows Authentication before you can access the website (Anonymous access is disabled). This website calls a web service (enable anonymous access) and the web service calls the DB. We do have a token-based authentication between the web application and the web service to secure the communication between them. The issue I'm facing is that when I deploy this to production, I'm having an intermittent issue whereby the communication between the web application and the web service failed. The 401 issue was thrown. This is actually working fine in our QA environment. Is this an issue with Active Directory? Or could it be an isssue with FQDN as mentioned here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;896861? The weirdest thing is that this is happening intermittently when tested in both on the server itself and a remote workstation in my client's environment. But, this is working perfectly in my environment. OS: Windows Server SP1 IIS 6 .NET 3.5 Framework Any idea about the 401 (Unauthorized) issue?? Thx for the help... This is from the log... • ItemFocusIn Not Working on Non-Editable DataGrid in Flex

  I realize that ItemFocusIn is somehow only applicable to editable datagrids in flex, nevertheless I want to fire an event anytime the user selects a new row in a non-editable datagrid. I have successfully used the CLICK event, but this event is not fired when the user uses the keyboard to select a different row in the datagrid. What do I have to do to cause an event to fire whenever the currently highlighted row in the datagrid changes, regardless of weather it was changed by the mouse or by the keyboard?

When clicking on links in a main nav, the url is updated properly, but when links are loaded dynamically with ajax, the url address function breaks. I have made 'click' events live, allowing for content to be loaded via dynamically loaded links, but I can't seem to make the address event listener live, but this seems to be the only way to make this work. Is my syntax wrong if I change this : $.address.change(function(event) { to this: $.address.live('change', function(event) { or does the live method not work with this plugin?

• Custom Annotation not showing all

  Okay, i have a number of pins on the mapkit. These pins showing different types of attractions. (E.g Parks, Farms and etc) I want to add custom images for these different types of pin. Parks have a park image and vice versa. However, when i added in, not all the images are showing successfully. For example, in parks, it should have 5 pins, but the image only came up in 2 pins, whereas other 3 is in default red pins. But if i used colours to differentiate them. For example, [pinsetPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorGreen]; It works! Anyone knows what is the problem? Relevant codes below.   Is it possible to check for pressed keys without using the KeyboardEvent? I have an ENTER_FRAME event setup called enterFrameHandler and I want to check within the function enterFrameHandler if any keys are pressed. normally when using a KeyboardEvent I could check for keys easily using a switch that checks the KeyCode of the event, but in an ENTER_FRAME event this isn't possible for me. Is there any other way of checking the keyboard's state within the ENTER_FRAME event?

  I have a simple application that users jquery-ui's draggable and droppable. In Firefox, it works perfectly. In Chrome, however, I'm having problems.   Okay, I need help. I'm usually pretty good at SQL queries but this one baffles me. By the way, this is not a homework assignment, it's a real situation in an Access database and I've written the requirements below myself. Here is my table layout. It's in Access 2007 if that matters; I'm writing the query using SQL. Id (primary key) PersonID (foreign key) EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits (boolean) There are events that people go to. They can earn normal credits, or super credits, or both at one event. The SuperCredits column is true if the row represents a number of super credits earned at the event, or false if it represents normal credits. So for example, if there is an event which person 174 attends, and they earn 3 normal credits and 1 super credit at the event, the following two rows would be added to the table: ID PersonID EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits 1 174 1/1/2010 3 false 2 174 1/1/2010 1 true It is also possible that the person could have done two separate things at the event, so there might be more than two columns for one event, and it might look like this: ID PersonID EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits 1 174 1/1/2010 1 false 2 174 1/1/2010 2 false 3 174 1/1/2010 1 true Now we want to print out a report. • Should I define models that will be owned by many different models or use controller and views?

So if someone looks up the leads by company they can see all leads across all events, but also see all leads by event. Not sure if this is ownership versus a where?   One of the touted advantages of jQuery.data versus raw expando properties (arbitrary attributes you can assign to DOM nodes) is that jQuery.data is "safe from circular references and therefore free from memory leaks". An article from Google titled "Optimizing JavaScript code" goes into more detail: The most common memory leaks for web applications involve circular references between the JavaScript script engine and the browsers' C++ objects' implementing the DOM (e.g. between the JavaScript script engine and Internet Explorer's COM infrastructure, or between the JavaScript engine and Firefox XPCOM infrastructure). It lists two examples of circular reference patterns: DOM element → event handler → closure scope → DOM DOM element → via expando → intermediary object → DOM element However, if a reference cycle between a DOM node and a JavaScript object produces a memory leak, doesn't this mean that any non-trivial event handler (e.g. onclick) will produce such a leak? I don't see how it's even possible for an event handler to avoid a reference cycle, because the way I see it: The DOM element references the event handler. The event handler references the DOM (either directly or indirectly). In any case, it's almost impossible to avoid referencing window in any interesting event handler, short of writing a setInterval loop that reads actions from a global queue. Can someone provide a precise explanation of the JavaScript ↔ DOM circular reference problem? Things I'd like clarified: What browsers are effected? A comment in the jQuery source specifically mentions IE6-7, but the Google article suggests Firefox is also affected. Are expando properties and event handlers somehow different concerning memory leaks? Or are both of these code snippets susceptible to the same kind of memory leak? // Create an expando that references to its own element. var elem = document.getElementById('foo'); elem.myself = elem; // Create an event handler that references its own element. var elem = document.getElementById('foo'); elem.onclick = function() { elem.style.display = 'none'; }; If a page leaks memory due to a circular reference, does the leak persist until the entire browser application is closed, or is the memory freed when the window/tab is closed?

• Microformat combination to use with events data on a map

  I have event data displaying on a map and I am currently using the geo microformat alongside it however it's not particularly rich to have just a list of locations without any details of what they correspond to. I've been looking at combining microformats to achieve this and looking for some thoughts on the subject here is the data i am marking up: event title, event location [latlong], event address, contact phone, link to full details My initial thoughts are to use an hCard along with geo? Is there anything better? Thanks in advance
