• New and Improved Patch for FRM-40654 Errors in Purchase Orders and Requisitions

  Development has modified the code in purchase orders and requisition forms to prevent error FRM-40654 when there are trailing spaces in the tables for most of the fields.  After applying the patch, the form will still display the error but a requery will allow you to save the transaction. For the scenarios not covered in the fix, the FND log will now display the specific field that causes the error.  This an example of the FND log for one document where the note_to_vendor has trailing spaces: Form note_to_vendor oldvalue Database  note_to_vendor newvalue Failed first if statement when comparing fields FRM-40654: Record has been updated. Requery block to see change. This new patch includes the fix in Patch 14204845:"In Oracle Purchasing, leading or trailing spaces in po lines data was resulting in errors".  For more information on FRM-40654 errors see the patching section of Note 1203796.1. I bought Word Cleaner but the results are merely sufficient and I need go over all the generated html files to clean tons of useless injected tags like <strongH</strong<strongell</strong<strongo </strong<emWor</em<emld</em Most of the articles displayed on a website I manage are based on documents written on MS Word by people how has little idea of what are margins for or ordered/unordered lists, foot/end notes etc and I cannot make them use something else. Does anyone has a tip to help me handle those pages more efficiently than going over them to correct and apply my CSS style ? NB: Just for the record, using "Save as HTML DOC" in Word is faaar worst than Word cleaner

  What is the best way to do for example food growth based on how many food buildings you have? Lets say I have a webbased game where you can build a farm wich generates 60 food units per hour. A player has 1 farm in his possession. What is the best way to keep on producing these units even when the player is offline? Should I do the math when the player get's back online again? If so..how can I do this without having to save his last online time every 5 seconds so I can do some maths with it when he logs back in (datetime.now - lastonlinetime)? Next thing is when the player is online, should I refresh his resource count every 5 seconds or so by going to the database and back? This would seem weird to do for every logged on player. I hope you understand my question. kind regards

• How to restore my D Drive

  I need help in recovering one of my drives from my windows7 machine. I used to have two drives, c and d. I used D to save all my data. i have been using my laptop from 3years. and when I saw it today, i cant find D drive on my computer :( . When I opened the parititioning wizard it showed me that the space I allocated for D is there but as unallocated space. I badly need the data from D.   Bigger companies usually have the problem, that it is not possible to write all programs employees want (to save time and to optimize processes) due to a lack of staff and money. Then hidden programs will be created by some people having (at least some) coding experience (or by cheap students/interns...). Under some circumstances these applications will raise in importance and spread from one user to a whole department. Then there is the critical point: Who will maintain the application, add new features, ...? And this app is critical. It IS needed. But the intern has left the company. No one knows how it works. You only have a bunch of sources and some sort of documentation. How do you cope with these applications? Can you "forbid" them? Can you control them? Do you have to write all apps (not Excel macros or some minor stuff) in the IT department?

• Which app can I use for easily annotating pictures/screenshots?

  Often I need to annotate (draw some arrows, lines, basic shapes like squares, ellipses etc and enter some text) on top of pictures (JPG, PNG images) and screenshots (again png images). I would also need to be able to crop, resize etc. I tried the Gimp but I could only enter text and perform all image transformations but couldn't find a way to draw boxes etc. I finally settled to Openoffice.org draw, but I know that isn't what I want, because in oodraw I need to insert my pic into a drawing and resize it (or the drawing) to fit and then go about making changes and finally export to png... Is there any image editor that allows adding shapes and text to jpg & png files and save the modified file in its place? If the tool can also have template collections (like dia does) for shapes that is an added bonus.

  I'm building an multi processes application and I need to save session ID, the sessions ID is 32 bit, and of course it can't be used twice in its lifetime, I'm currently using DB that saves all the ID in a table, and I do the following, ID table is (int key, char used(1)) //1 is used, 0 is not 1. lock table 2. get one key for one sessions 3. update used field in it to used 4. unlock After the session is finished the process use below to free key, 1. lock table 2. update used field in it to not used 4. unlock I'm really wondering whether this is a good/fast implementation. and please note it's multi processes application.

• Question regarding drives

  I am a new Ubuntu user who has spent a lot of time on Windows. A very common practice for me on Windows was making two drives, C: and D: , storing installs/files in C:, and I used D: for backup or if I downloaded something that I wanted to save, I saved in D: When installing Ubuntu, it asked me if I wanted to replace Windows 7. I thought it would install Ubuntu on C: but instead it used the whole partition, nevertheless I recovered my backup using testdisk. What I wanted to do was to create a similar backup drive on Linux too. My current partition table: sda 8:0 0 232.9G 0 disk +-sda1 8:1 0 230.9G 0 part / +-sda2 8:2 0 1K 0 part +-sda5 8:5 0 2G 0 part [SWAP] sr0 11:0 1 1024M 0 rom So should I use Gparted to create another sda3 and store my important data on that? Also my current sda2 is listed as an extended partition, should I delete it? It's a very small partition, just 1K.

• Upgrading Ubuntu to 12.04 stuck

  While upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04, I'm stalled at the step: Installing new version of config file /etc/init/udevtrigger.conf The Terminal in the Distribution Upgrade window is expanded, there is no prompt for user input. I've hit enter a few times but it doesn't change anything but add a blank line after the last print statement. It's been sitting for ~6 hours at this stage. No other windows or dialog boxes are open. The upgrade has progressed through "Preparing to Upgrade", "Setting new software channels", and "Getting new packages". Under the progress bar (which estimates 1 day 2 hours remaining, and has for some time), it says Preparing to configure libpcap0.8. I'd take a screen-shot, but it won't let me save the file anywhere. The progress bar is about 1/3 complete.

  Some background: I'm employed at a small, Australia-based web agency that is dipping it's toe into Mobile Application development (iOS). The project that I'm working on provides a way for users to save medication dosage information which is sync'd with a backend server. Users must agree to ToS, Disclaimer etc before using the application. This is my first iOS application, and the project is currently over budget. As a result, management is not devoting the resources to Q&A and is pushing instead for more features. I am an employee of the agency, that has been contracted by a non-for-profit. The application will probably be released under our agency's name, but we also have the option of releasing it as the not-for-profit. My question is, if there are bugs found in the application, and as a result a user takes an incorrect dosage of a medication, am I personally liable? Is there anything that I can or should do in order to protect myself personally?

• Is there ever a time when creating a level/world editor with your game is a bad idea?

  I have created a few smaller games on my own in the past. My approach has always been to create a completed editor where it has all the functionality needed to save a level file and load it into the game. This has always made most sense to me but I keep hearing from people that a game is never fully done in the editor. I have never worked in a game development team and so I don't have first hand experience, but not adding everything needed to make the game to the editor just seams wrong. Am I missing something? Is there ever a reason not to add a tool to the editor?

That is, instead of synchronizing the method directly using explicit locking through lock objects using Map. function is like :- getAndUpdateMyHitCount(myObjId){ //go to db and get unique record by myObjId //fetch value , increment , save update } And this function may get call is same thread by different Or same object instance But as fetching and matching from Map is slow , Is there other optimized way to do this ? • How do I duplicate a Box2d simulation, mid-simulation?

  I want to serialize the state mid-game, send it over the network to an identical computer (same CPU, same OS, same binary), load it there, and have the two games run in tandem doing the exact same simulation, without one of them drifting off and going haywire. In short: I want pop-in, pop-out networking support on my HIGHLY physics-intensive game, where sending object coordinates every few seconds is impossible, due to having thousands of objects, and many clients. I tried this with Box2D, and saving an object's location/velocity/etc wasn't enough... there's internal state that's not accessible through any public methods. My current workaround is to force EVERY client to save its entire worldstate and reload it from scratch, whenever a new player connects... but this is obviously bad practice, because it hangs the game for everyone whenever someone new connects. However, it works, with zero desynchronization. So, anyone know of any other techniques that can help me? Or should I just kiss my project goodbye?

• Full brightness and keyboard backligh at boot

  I own an Asus N56VZ, and each time I start Ubuntu (13.10 and prior versions) my screen brightness and keyboard backlights reset their values to the max. Ubuntu doesn't save my settings on reboot. I was wondering if someone could help me with this? It is horrible when, at night, I turn on my computer - it is like looking directly to the sun, and it hurts my eyes. I tried googling and none of the pages I found actually helped. I think my issue might be grub-related. I have a dual-boot with Windows 8.1, so before I start my computer I see grub to choose my operating system. My screen starts at full brightness as soon as I reach grub. Maybe he is making the OS forget about my last values, overriding it with its? Does someone knows how to solve this? Thanks in advance :) PS: I'm using bumblebee with Nvidia driver 304, but this issue existed before I installed it.

• What is the Ubuntu equivalent of the Windows programs Belarc or PC Wizard?

  I provide technical support for several high schools in Spain and I have been building up a inventory of the schools machines. On the windows only computers I normally run PC Wizard to quickly get a good overview of the machines hardware, software and network settings. Is there an equivalent tool preferable with a GUI and an export option to html or pdf in Ubuntu. I have tried a few options such as: Gnomes gconf-editor hardinfo (GUI) lshw (CLI) I'm just looking for an all in one application that builds a detailed profile of the installed software, hardware and network setting of a particular machine. I have found Sysinfo which is quite good, it displays the most important hardware info and allows you to save it to a text file with a neat GUI. I'm still looking for a more complete solution but it's a good start.

• Joining and compressing all javascript files together - good idea?

  Curently, I avoid loading any unnecesary scripts on individual pages of my site. I have a class that remembers all javascript files that were requested during PHP processing and adds them to HTML. I was just thinking that I could merge the current set of files, save the result in special directory and let the browser download just one, big file. Since the number of possible combinations is not very high, I would end up with about 10 combined files for different pages. I've never seen that on any site. What are the reasons not to do it? I need very fast page load.

• Is it better to use a Database or a data structure for network stack?

  I've built a multi threaded messaging application in C and I'm currently using a MySQL Memory table to save the session ID, but I'm not sure whether this was a good decision or not. It works like this, the application sends a message and saves the source session ID in the MySQL table. When the application gets the success response it will remove the session's ID from the MySQL table, or if it received an error response then it will keep the ID to be retried later. I've built it this way so that I don't need to care about building a data structure by myself, and the Database provides flexibility when it comes to querying it. Do you think this is appropriate or do I need to use something else? Please note that the application is expecting to handle a large number of transactions/sec.

• I think there is a problem with my url encoding

  I took someone's advice and started encoding my image sources, but Google doesn't seem to be able to decode them. I probably did something wrong, because basically Google is taking the full path as the image's name. See this page as an example. If you go on the top most thumbnail and do "Save as", you will see the path is not being decoded. Should I stop decoding or am I doing it wrong? Should I encode only the image name itself? Thanks!
