  • Merging $.get and $.ready

    - by cwolves
    Put simply I have an ajax call that sometimes completes before the page is loaded, so I tried wrapping the callback in $( fn ), but the callback doesn't fire if the page is loaded... Anyone have a good solution to this? $.get( '/foo.json', function( data ){ $( function(){ // won't get here if page ready beats the ajax call // process data $( '.someDiv' ).append( someData ); } ); } ); And yes, I know that if I flipped the order of those it would always work, but then my ajax calls would be needlessly deferred until the document is ready.

  • CSS Rule Priorities

    - by Antilogic
    Given the following mark-up... <div id="Header"> <a href="#" class="Highlight">foo</a> </div> And the following stylesheet... /******************Exceptions******************/ #Footer, #Header, #Footer a, #Header a { color: #f8f8f8; } /******************Classes******************/ .Highlight, a.Highlight { color: #B1D355; } .Notification, a.Notification { color: Red; } Why is my link still off-white (F8F8F8) rather than green (B1D355)? Shouldn't using the class Highlight override the color settings for Header and Footer since it comes after their declarations?

  • Getting the last member of a group on an intermediary M2M

    - by rh0dium
    If we look at the existing docs, what is the best way to get the last member added? This is similar to this but what I want to do is to be able to do this. group = Group.objects.get(id=1) group.get_last_member_added() #This is by ('-date_added') <Person: FOO> I think the best way is through a manager but how do you do this on an intermediary model? class Person(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Group(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) members = models.ManyToManyField(Person, through='Membership') def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Membership(models.Model): person = models.ForeignKey(Person) group = models.ForeignKey(Group) date_joined = models.DateField() invite_reason = models.CharField(max_length=64)

  • Changing a Widget's name based on a string read in from an XML form in Qt.

    - by Nick
    I'm writing a code for a voting machine that will allow user to read in custom XML ballots and then vote on them, however in the current build I have in QtCreator, I don't see an easy way to edit buttons in my GUI directly. In the code snippet below, I assign an element to pull out the names and type of ballot being read in, but I need to append a label on the GUI as well as change buttons to the names of candidates read in. Any ideas on how to do this? while(!n.isNull()){ QDomNode x = n.firstChildElement(); QDomElement e = n.toElement(); QMessageBox::information(0, tr( "Loading Element" ), tr( "Our element is %1" ).arg(e.tagName()) ); QDomElement p = x.firstChildElement();//p finds Races QMessageBox::information(0,tr("Foo"),tr("p = %1").arg(p.text()));//finds Race and Ballot types n = n.nextSibling(); } }

  • C++ setting up "flags"

    - by sub
    Example: enum Flags { A, B, C, D }; class MyClass { std::string data; int foo; // Flags theFlags; (???) } How can I achieve that it is possible to set any number of the "flags" A,B,C and D in the enum above in an instance of MyClass? My goal would be something like this: if ( MyClassInst.IsFlagSet( A ) ) // ... MyClassInst.SetFlag( A ); //... Do I have to use some array or vector? If yes, how? Are enums a good idea in this case?

  • NoMethodError when using .where (eager fetching)

    - by Ethan Leroy
    I have the following model classes... class Image < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :description, :title has_many :imageTags has_many :tags, :through => :imageTags end class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :name has_many :imageTags has_many :images, :through => :imageTags end class ImageTag < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :position belongs_to :image belongs_to :tag end And when I use find for getting the Tag with the id 1 t = Tag.find(1); @images = t.images; But when I do the same with where, I get a NoMethodError, with the description undefined method 'images': t = Tag.where(:name => "foo"); @images = t.images; I also tried adding .includes(:images) before the .where statement, but that doesn't work too. So, how can I get all Images that belong to a Tag?

  • PHP parameter without value using for navigation

    - by somewalri
    Hello, I am trying to set up a navigation system that uses GET parameters with no value, example: http://foo.bar/?mainPage takes the visitor to the main page. So I am using if statements and I am wondering if there is a way I can do this without a bunch of if statements? I don't think switch statements would work for this. This is currently what I have: $mainPage = $_GET['mainPage']; $contact = $_GET['contact']; if(isset($mainPage)) { // go to main page } if(isset($contact)) { // go to contact page } I don't want to have to end up writing a ton of if statements, though. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • JavaScript: filter() for Objects

    - by AgileMeansDoAsLittleAsPossible
    ECMAScript 5 has the filter() prototype for Array types, but not Object types, if I understand correctly. How would I implement a filter() for Objects in JavaScript? Let's say I have this object: var foo = { bar: "Yes" }; And I want to write a filter() that works on Objects: Object.prototype.filter = function(predicate) { var result = {}; for (key in this) { if (this.hasOwnProperty(key) && !predicate(this[key])) { result[key] = this[key]; } } return result; }; This works when I use it in jsfiddle (http://jsfiddle.net/MPUnL/4/), but when I add it to my site that uses jQuery 1.5 and jQuery UI 1.8.9, I get JavaScript errors in FireBug.

  • How to initialize std::vector from C-style array?

    - by dehmann
    What is the cheapest way to initialize a std::vector from a C-style array? Example: In the following class, I have a vector, but due to outside restrictions, the data will be passed in as C-style array: class Foo { std::vector<double> w_; public: void set_data(double* w, int len){ // how to cheaply initialize the std::vector? } Obviously, I can call w_.resize() and then loop over the elements, or call std::copy(). Are there any better methods?

  • Monitor multiple variable amounts of processes' start and exit

    - by ron975
    I need some code to monitor the start and exit of processes. For example, assume I have a config file with 3 processe names, lets say, foo.exe, bar.exe and abc.exe. How I imagine this be done would be to create 3 threads and somehow listen to each process individually with a timer in each thread, and then do something afterwards. However, I would need to dynamically create threads and timers, as the config file is meant to be modifiable. I can work with VB.NET or C# Code. Thanks.

  • How to find out how namespace got polluted?

    - by dehmann
    Consider the following little piece of code: // all of these include other headers, lots of code: #include "myheader1.h" #include "myheader2.h" #include <string> void foo() { string s("hello world"); // oh no, why does this compile?? } This compiles, so obviously some of the recursively included header files has a using namespace std; somewhere. How would you go about finding out where that offending line of code is? Just using grep on all header files won't really work because that statement is often used inside a function, where it is safe and won't pollute the rest of the code.

It looks something like: $(document).ready(function() { $('#myform').live('submit', function() { $(foo).appendTo('#myform'); $(this).ajaxSubmit(function() { alert("HelloWorld"); }); return false; }); }); This happens to work in FF3, but not in IE7. Any idea what the problem is?

  • How can I get the file extensions from relative links in HTML text using Perl?

    - by Structure
    For example, scanning the contents of an HTML page with a Perl regular expression, I want to match all file extensions but not TLD's in domain names. To do this I am making the assumption that all file extensions must be within double quotes. I came up with the following, and it is working, however, I am failing to figure out a way to exclude the TLDs in the domains. This will return "com", "net", etc. m/"[^<>]+\.([0-9A-Za-z]*)"/g Is it possible to negate the match if there is more than one period between the quotes that are separated by text? (ie: match foo.bar.com but not ./ or ../) Edit I am using $1 to return the value within parentheses.

  • SQLite - executeUpdate exception not caught when database does not exist? (Java)

    - by giant91
    So I was purposely trying to break my program, and I've succeeded. I deleted the sqlite database the program uses, while the program was running, after I already created the connection. Then I attempted to update the database as seen below. Statement stmt; try { stmt = Foo.con.createStatement(); stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO "+table+" VALUES (\'" + itemToAdd + "\')"); } catch(SQLException e) { System.out.println("Error: " + e.toString()); } The problem is, it didn't catch the exception, and continued to run as if the database was updated successfully. Meanwhile the database didn't even exist at that point since this was after I deleted it. Doesn't it check if the database still exists when updating? Do I have to check the database connection manually, every time I update to ensure that the database wasn't corrupted/deleted? Is this the way it is normally done, or is there a simpler/more robust approach? Thank you.

  • Camera for 2.5D Game

    - by me--
    I'm hoping someone can explain this to me like I'm 5, because I've been struggling with this for hours and simply cannot understand what I'm doing wrong. I've written a Camera class for my 2.5D game. The intention is to support world and screen spaces like this: The camera is the black thing on the right. The +Z axis is upwards in that image, with -Z heading downwards. As you can see, both world space and screen space have (0, 0) at their top-left. I started writing some unit tests to prove that my camera was working as expected, and that's where things started getting...strange. My tests plot coordinates in world, view, and screen spaces. Eventually I will use image comparison to assert that they are correct, but for now my test just displays the result. The render logic uses Camera.ViewMatrix to transform world space to view space, and Camera.WorldPointToScreen to transform world space to screen space. Here is an example test: [Fact] public void foo() { var camera = new Camera(new Viewport(0, 0, 250, 100)); DrawingVisual worldRender; DrawingVisual viewRender; DrawingVisual screenRender; this.Render(camera, out worldRender, out viewRender, out screenRender, new Vector3(30, 0, 0), new Vector3(30, 40, 0)); this.ShowRenders(camera, worldRender, viewRender, screenRender); } And here's what pops up when I run this test: World space looks OK, although I suspect the z axis is going into the screen instead of towards the viewer. View space has me completely baffled. I was expecting the camera to be sitting above (0, 0) and looking towards the center of the scene. Instead, the z axis seems to be the wrong way around, and the camera is positioned in the opposite corner to what I expect! I suspect screen space will be another thing altogether, but can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong in my Camera class? UPDATE I made some progress in terms of getting things to look visually as I expect, but only through intuition: not an actual understanding of what I'm doing. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. I realized that my view space was flipped both vertically and horizontally compared to what I expected, so I changed my view matrix to scale accordingly: this.viewMatrix = Matrix.CreateLookAt(this.location, this.target, this.up) * Matrix.CreateScale(this.zoom, this.zoom, 1) * Matrix.CreateScale(-1, -1, 1); I could combine the two CreateScale calls, but have left them separate for clarity. Again, I have no idea why this is necessary, but it fixed my view space: But now my screen space needs to be flipped vertically, so I modified my projection matrix accordingly: this.projectionMatrix = Matrix.CreatePerspectiveFieldOfView(0.7853982f, viewport.AspectRatio, 1, 2) * Matrix.CreateScale(1, -1, 1); And this results in what I was expecting from my first attempt: I have also just tried using Camera to render sprites via a SpriteBatch to make sure everything works there too, and it does. But the question remains: why do I need to do all this flipping of axes to get the space coordinates the way I expect? UPDATE 2 I've since improved my rendering logic in my test suite so that it supports geometries and so that lines get lighter the further away they are from the camera. I wanted to do this to avoid optical illusions and to further prove to myself that I'm looking at what I think I am. Here is an example: In this case, I have 3 geometries: a cube, a sphere, and a polyline on the top face of the cube. Notice how the darkening and lightening of the lines correctly identifies those portions of the geometries closer to the camera. If I remove the negative scaling I had to put in, I see: So you can see I'm still in the same boat - I still need those vertical and horizontal flips in my matrices to get things to appear correctly. In the interests of giving people a repro to play with, here is the complete code needed to generate the above. If you want to run via the test harness, just install the xunit package: Camera.cs: using Microsoft.Xna.Framework; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics; using System.Diagnostics; public sealed class Camera { private readonly Viewport viewport;
